  • It seems like every day there’s a new article or video about electric motorcycles. Here's a roundup of EV brands capable of sustained interstate touring available right now along with some that claim to be available soon.

Thanks for making this video! So many people are waiting for Damon or other fantasy bikes to come out and they need a reality check.

I'm rooting for Damon and the rest, but we both know the reality is most startups won't make it to market; let alone reach long-term, sustainable volume production.

The number of bike options available really depends on where you live. The local Bay Area EV motorcycle club recently had 4 brands represented at a recent ride - Zero, Livewire, Energica, and Lightning. Both Zero and Lightning are designed and produced in California.

Makes sense since California is the nation's largest market for EVs. Here in the Jacksonville, FL two out of the four brands you mentioned are available. Of the brands you mentioned, here are the service locations for each. As best I can tell Lightning doesn't list any service locations on its website. LiveWire: www.livewire.com/locations | Energica: www.energicamotor.com/us/find-a-dealer/ | Zero: zeromotorcycles.com/dealer-locator

I think you need to do another video about small city bikes. That is the fastest expanding sector of sales, often to delivery riders. There were a dozen different brands you could ride at the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham last week.

That's a huge market. Between e-bicycles, e-scooters and short-range/low-power e-motorcycles there's a ton out there. I occasionally look at some of the smaller stuff and am planning to do one soon on an innovative California startup. Speaking of, here are two videos on the segment you're describing: th-cam.com/video/Dg1rdc3kWSc/w-d-xo.html | th-cam.com/video/LW2ZscRo97I/w-d-xo.html

Here in Canada the options are even fewer. There are no Energica Dealers yet, and when I asked my insurance company about insuring one, (I was thinking of going to the New England Energica dealer), they told me they wouldn't insure it if it wasn't something sold in Canada. We have a decent number of Zero dealers but only 3 LiveWire dealers showing on the Canadian LiveWire website and they don't even show the new S2 Del Mar on the Canadian website. I asked my Harley Dealer yesterday if they were going to start selling LiveWire again and they told me that it's tough because Harley want's them to have a completely separate building for the LiveWire Brand... that seems really strange to me I mean other dealers around here sell Kawi, Honda, KTM, CFMoto and more all under the same roof.

I could be wrong but based on your description I'm guessing LiveWire has eased up on requirements for Harley dealers - at least here in the U.S. Here in Jacksonville, FL our big Harley dealer is carrying the LiveWire brand with the bikes being displayed in the same showroom as traditional Harleys. It originally signed on back when LiveWire Ones were branded as Harley-Davidson LiveWires. It rejoined a few months ago as an official LiveWire brand dealer.
