2:09 - I think that the trick is a generous but still wearable lug-to-lug length & a proportional lug width. Pretty sure this combination gives any small wrist the necessary presence while large wrists get a small-to-medium appearance that is never inadequate.
It’s literally a vintage sub that you can dive with now. All the proportions fonts and colors are perfect. The only thing I’d change is make the dial finish the same as on the 58 but I still have to see sunburst in person under natural light to know how I feel about it
Great review! Subbed. One thing though... When I went on holiday last year and had the chance to go scuba diving I made sure I wore my diver! I'm not going to spend a few 1000 on a diver and not do that! Anyway, now when I put it on it had those memories. Also, if I'm wearing it I'm not worried about it being left in my hotel room. Since then I've been on another holiday and swam with it again. It's kind of now my 'holiday watch' :)
@@WatchSociety it's certainly a refined release with respect to fit/finish, however they can keep on hoping! Would rather not take the upfront depreciative hit or play the illusory hype game 🧘♂️
Great video Ridah!! I was set on making the newer version of the Rolex sub my starter watch but Tudor is so tempting man. I'll be visiting a Tudor boutique next week to try on some of these pieces. My main concern is will Tudor hold it's value you Rolex? Interested to hear your thoughts!!
Bravo, brother Ridah.....👏👏👏You're a real class act. Always giving back to the watch community, in one way (via your art, and talent), or another. A channel, truly deserving of the title "Watch Society." Love that "54" btw. It's absolute genius on the part of Tudor. They're killing it this year for sure. Many blessings to you and yours my friend. Cheers.....
I would like to offer an alternative view to the universal love for the BB54. Yes, the BB54 has a better bracelet, but you are forgoing a lot. I feel 39 mm to be the perfect size for a sport/dive watch. Also, at some point you may want some wrist presence in a watch. I love BB58’s gilt bezel numerals, red iconic triangle (red triangle and larger crown references the classic Rolex Big Crown of the past) and the snowflake seconds. I even like the coin edge bezel matching the crown. Without these characteristics, the BB would be rather dull. Now all these charming characteristics have been removed from the BB54. The lugs on the BB54 are also proportionally bigger giving it a less elegant, squared look. Newer may not always be better.
No markings on the first 15 minutes on the bezel reminds you that this isn’t a real divers watch. And what’s with releasing this and the other watches at the same time as the burgundy METAS watch but they didn’t release them with METAS movements?! Makes no sense. All new releases on the same day but stuck old movements and thicker cases on all but the burgundy one.
Black bay 54 is small, but a bit too small. It is just media and the current hype to go retro and as small as possible to be cool. But the dial and bezel is nicer than bb58 black and the t-fit clasp is great.
Nice video, thanks. But re the watch itself - Meh. Ok, its faithful to the original, but the original was somewhat bland to my eye. A lot of the small details that evolved (e.g. in the subsequent iterations of its big brother, the Submariner) brought visual interest that’s missing here/in the original. And as a “capable diving tool”? WR is good, but small dial, lack of minute markings on the bezel between 0-15 (e.g. if you wanted to accurately time a safety stop) and no wetsuit extension (despite the T fit) put this squarely in the luxury, not tool, watch category. But that’s to be expected - you buy a rubber-strapped Seiko to actually dive with/give a beating 😁. P.s. I’m not a Tudor hater - I have a stunning BB58 bronze (which I also won’t be diving with 😀). But the BB 54 just doesn’t float my dive boat.
When I showed some new Tudor releases to my wife she asked me the following question: you have a whole collection of Rolex professional models so why would you want a Tudor? And to this day I still don't have an answer but I do know that the new Tudor releases will get a lot of new people into the watch hobby. But just between you and me, that new BB54 looks awesome 😉
Your wife is correct. She's being honest. There's PR machinery working 24/7 going on hyping rolex homage Tudors among TH-camr-so called reviewers. Suddenly they're all doing same concerted effort. Regards
Are Tudor bribing alll the TH-camrs? I love tudor, but lets chill out shall we …same watch….bit smaller (too small) very boring release year from tudor….. including the red bezel 41….. imagine a whole Group of designers with a huge budget and a year to come up with ideas….and you come out with ‘same watch again but a bit smaller” - “brilliant! Well done chaps!”
Ironically, all you need to do is downsize a classic watch to make it appealing to an entirely new group of people. If it weren’t for the 54 I wouldn’t be considered Tudor at all
I'm sorry I just don't get it? Tudor produces a Watch that looks exactly the same but smaller than many others and somehow this is exciting? Tudor is boring! Omega Smokes Tudor, along with Longines, along with other Micro Brands. Holy Spokes Monta for the price destroys Tudor. I just dont understand the excitement? Is it just because Tudors relation to Rolex that makes them so popular?
I've owned a Tudor bb58 and it was the boring watch I've ever owned,I don't get the brand, they need to get rid of the horrible snowflake hand. All their dive watches look the same. The brand doesn't carry any prestige, it's overhyped.
Exactly! And they're still at it. Making Rolex Homage watches with an ugly hour hand. Suddenly you see a concerted effort among so called TH-cam reviewers... I really smell PR machinery at work here.
@@coffeeboyclips1973I highly suspect pr machinery working behind the scenes... why out of the blue are these so called TH-cam reviewers suddenly showing a concerted effort? Just very very fishy

Fantastic review. My local AD hasn’t received any yet which may be a good thing, gives me more time to forget about it.
I got mine and at first I was struggling with the small size but now I love it. My wrist is 7.5 inches and still looks fine.
Does the steel bracelet version come with a rubber strap?

The perfect Tudor Submariner in modern times
The 37mm is a better option than the new 41 mm Sub …. But the perfect size 39 mm. BB58 is a rockstar
True, more so if the use the same shorter angled lugs that are on the 54
