Generally speaking I don’t think people being friends with exes is a problem. But in this specific context considering Gen posted revenge porn (I know they didn’t actually sleep together) of Peter and LJ I think Lara Jean is well within her rights to not want Gen around.

@YLIA no it was definitely gen. It's not specifically stated but there's a scene that points all evidence to Jen.
I love how relatively mature and non-toxic the kids in these movies are. You can have drama where people are mostly trying to do the right thing or making understandable mistakes, rather than cartoonish villainy.

I've noticed that in a lot of "Love Triangle" movies, there's typically a POC love interest who swoops into the sequel, threatening the usually white couple's relationship, but the couple will ultimately stay together. Marco and Chloe from "The Kissing Booth", Jacob from "Twilight", Tommy from "Tall Girl"... It's an uncomfortable trend!
Makes me uncomfortable as well. Then some of time the POC love interest ends up being the better love interest for the main character. [To all the boys I loved before][The kissing booth]
Funny thing is John Ambrose wasn't a POC in the first movie, like in the flashback, if I remember correctly
@@19Rena96 You’re right. In the first movie, he’s white. The movie even ended with a white John Ambrose knocking on Lara Jean’s front door. Also in the books he’s white as well.

I think the reason Laura Jean compares her relationship with Peter to his previous relationship is specifically because Jen is his ex. If his ex were some other girl that she didn't know, I don't think she would have been so insecure, but since she has her own past friendship and current bad blood with Jen, it's a very different story.
I genuinely can’t tell if they thought she dressed up as a “mustard sandwich/grilled cheese”,when she was supposed to be French Toast(hence the beret)😂

I really like the gentleness of these films, and it really does feel true to teenage relationships. I especially feel like the damaged friendship between Lara Jean and Jen is very realistic, how things spiral out of a tiny incident etc and how there's still a connection. Also yes friends with exes is totally possible, it all depends on the ex of course and how the relationship ended. Sometimes it's best to wait for a bit before being friends but yes, it's absolutely possible.
PS Really glad to hear Maria is safely in Poland! Great news.

Josh, (the neighbor boy) was suppost to be in this movie as his character is a big part of the second book, but the actor was fired from this film because of some sort of rant he went on. At least that's what I heard. I could be wrong. Btw, glad Maria is ok.

This franchise is honestly sweet and I live that they finally made a modern day RomCom. Nothing will ever be cuter to me that he came to pick her up when it snowed after her saying on the beginning of the movie the only things that scare her are driving in the snow, and parking. Lol
You two singing together for that little moment had me smiling uncontrollably. Oh my goodness, love it! You should do that more. 😊💛😊
i really like this sequel, the second book was my favorite one and they did a pretty good job with it!! specially this take on the love triangle trope where no one is the bad guy and the choice is genuinely hard for the main character, it's all very sweet.

This has reminded me that I still haven't watched the third film of this. Being a fan of the books, this film just didn't hit the spot for me. The first film was such a good adaptation and I felt this one fell flat, the characters seemed two dimensional and some of the plots felt underdeveloped. ( I can't help but wonder if it is the change from female to male director that changed the tone) still an enjoyable movie to watch, I just like to pretend it is not based on the book!

I think when it comes to being friends with exes, it totally depends on the people and it depends on the relationship. I'm not friends with any of my exes but I didn't have amicable/mutual breakups with any of them. We tried to be friends and it was always too painful for one of the parties involved. All of my husband's former relationships were the same. It just depends.

Totally agree with the it's okay being friends with exs thing. One of my best friends is my ex and he's dating another of my friends which I actually helped happen, they have been together for 2 years now and I couldn't be happier for them! Of course we broke up on as mutually good terms as a couple can so there was no lingering bitterness but I also have an ex that I hope I'll never see again. I believe it all depends of the people and how the relationship was between them, so I understand if people say that it's impossible because of their experiences.

As someone who loves the book series, there were changes that I hated that they left out.
The necklace was way more sentimental than it was in the movie.
The snow globe was John Ambrose’s gift to Lara Jean.
While I love the star ball, there was a cute USO dance in the book that I really wanted to see on film.
More baking than filmed.
They made Peter better in the films so film wise I can get behind Lara Jean choosing Peter, but book wise he was a huge jerk across all three.

I really liked this one too! I think the only reason I liked it slightly less than the first was because it felt like there were slightly fewer examples of "what to do" and a lot more examples of "what not to do". But even with that, agree with y'all heavily! The story was good, the characters were all maturely handled, and it's at least on par with number 1!
I really think I enjoyed number three as well! But don't remember it - guess I'll find out when y'all release it!
