And they are the first character to launch without a origin story. If Juno also doesn't launch with any it makes me think that the live service development and layoffs are hittin them
Literally all they had to do to make me happy was just make it where once I'm full on 3 it just swaps the oldest avoid for the new one... Nothing more annoying than having to go all the way to the list manually remove another person and add the new one.. It ain't rocket science but they treat it like it is..

It's funny because if GM was always this difficult to achieve, we wouldn't have needed a champion rank to begin with. I'm glad they're addressing rank distribution because champion has felt completely redundant since it was added

@@tropicata I think the reason is the pressure modifier, that goes against the whole principle of the Elo system. If you win half of your matches, you should stay at the same rank. With the pressure modifier, you derank. So you have a lot of underrated people that should be on champion or high GM stomping GMs and Masters and not ranking up.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the people that were working on the Venture skins got laid off and the skins got held up in some kind of lawsuit. 100% speculation, mind you.

Guaranteed if mercy and kiriko didn’t get any skins with this next season, we’d be seeing a very smaller volume of complaints about skins. I don’t care too much about skins, but I think it’s more of a show of the lack of care and passion for the community overall when they clearly only cater to a certain population of the playerbase with skins.

I personally care because it feels like devs are favourite-child-ing some heroes (Genji, Kiriko, Mercy, etc) and ignoring everyone else (Venture, kinda Ramattra). It doesn't feel fair.
14:16 I started playing again around mid-season 8, didn't even know group respawn was a thing. Still don't really know what exactly it does aside from inferring from context. Kinda crazy because I've still ended up in situations where me and one other person end up having to wait what feels like 30 straight seconds for staggered teammates to respawn.
My biggest concern with the wave respawn is if you get teamwiped within 2 seconds of each other, which happens pretty often, then everybodys respawn timer will be longer than before. I feel like because of that it could unintentionally benefit snowballing/steamrolling even more than before. Also, it kinda removes some of the impact of staggering. I think they should just ditch it and go back to old respawn timer.
I never liked the respawn changes & was glad that it was only for Qp but NOW they even added more layers to it & is gunna be in comp, it was a skill & took game sense to stagger whole teams idky we're holding their hand w these changes (ppl that stagger)
The thing is that a teamwipe to that extent only really happens with big wiping ults, and that's if everyone is positioned in a group. The respawn changes will mainly change staggering (which will mostly help solo queuing) and probably change more micro things for pro play like keeping track of enemy waves and managing powerful ults
They gotta do "battle drives" for skins, weapon charms, voice lines, emotes, ect. Point tournaments, "clan" / team events with cosmetic rewards? Like first 1,000 people that get 1,000 wins in a season
The fact that the borders reset is so lame and completely kills them for me. I simply don’t play this game as much as I used to, I’m not gonna be tryharding every season just so I can look at this thing for a week or two
From how they worded it, they are just averaging out all the players due to the reset. And ranking itself is easier depending on how far from the average you are. the problem here is that players were TOO CLOSE to the middle, they averaged out people way too much cuz they made it too hard to reach champion and maybe ranking in general was too much of a grind. so yea if ur in gold-plat you should be completely fine
I am thinking the reason why the spawn thing becomes a bigger issue in higher ranks is staggers. Higher ranks are FAR more likely to stagger people intentionally. By Diamond+ chasing kills to a spawn is a thing that people understand how to do without being punished.

Heroes need to drop with skins already in the gallery and one in the battle pass. Like they used to. If venture gets their first skin in season 14 and it takes them around 8-6 months to make skins... Then they literally dropped venture with 0 skins in production. Which is wild. If this is the case and all new heroes follow this new trend, then we can expect Junos first skin in like season 16
Eh not really… at all. It’s a video game, they’re meant to be enjoyed. Some people have jobs and work many hours, there is not that much time to play video games in a day. I’m not going to get on a game for the small amount of time that I have and then NOT play the character that I want to play. Again, it’s a game, not professional sports.

Give more competitive points at the end of the match (Just a few extra per) based on jolly cooperation. This will also help flankers not only secure their target better, and healers will look for them more, but matches will without a doubt be tighter, and you'll probably see less trickle. Also... just give more competitive points per match, and at the end of seasons. There's so many heroes now that we just want to fill alts out. That alone will drive more incentive.
If you're flanking, it's your responsibility to be able to escape and find a health pack. Healers shouldn't be expected to leave their team to come find one player who doesn't know when to exit the fight before they're about to be rolled. That's just forcing your entire team to get rolled because one player is irresponsible and lacks awareness. Flanking irresponsibly and expecting your healer to come save you (when you're likely to die by the time they get there, causing them to be alone and get rolled too) will just cause your team to lose every game.
I also think why bronze didn’t get much impact with the group respawn is probably due to the idea they barely ever decide to actually group up despite the system being in effect and just feed. ITS JUST AN ASSUMPTION.
11:25 Are they out of their mind? The pressure modifier ensured that would happen. The modifier made top rank lose more and earn less and bronze players the opposive. If you are making people in champion lose more than they should, the rating distribution will reflect that and affect to some degree lower ranks too. Same thing with bronze, if you pressure players out of bronze, obviously it will have less players. Am I missing something? That reminds me of ranked FFA. It was so unbalanced that diamond players were top500, because the first got a win, 2-4 got a "lesser" win and 5-8 got a loss. Result: Anyone who played enough games ended up being dragged to platinum.
A small correctiom regarding the explanation of wave spawning. Using the example Flats gave, if spmebody dies when the first wave has 4 seconds left on their spawn timer, they still get a 12 second timer as they're starting a new wave. You'll only ever get your timer reduced to 10 seconds if the wave you started doesn't have any other players in it when your timer gets down to 6 seconds.
Fr I've been avoiding comp since season 9 because I went from masters to barely staying in plat. Didn't feel like I was doing worse, but suddenly my teammates were. Wasn't sure what I was doing wrong or how to get momentum. Felt super unsatisfying to play comp for an hour just for my rank to be unmoved, or worse, lower. Making immediate rank updates should've improved motivation to play, but the way rank points are calculated feels like I can't make progress.
I'll always prefer big gameplay updates over cosmetics, but it's just been unfair. Venture launched with a recolor and then had another recolor as their only skins. Its been two, gonna be four, battle passes until they get a skin. Kiriko and mercy have gotten skins nearly every single battle pass. And it's not just venture mains upset about it, tons of heros get skipped so kiriko can have yet another skin. I mean ffs kiriko has *two* crossover skins. And im certain Juno will launch with a beautiful legendary skin, likely more than one.
Note that he said an exciting skin is coming in s14, not that their next skin is coming in s14. For what we know venture could have a shop skin next or even this season. There’s a chance, because they say that it takes a year for mythical to get fully developed, that s14 will have a venture mythic or just collab skin, that’s why Aaron is point it out. Not saying it’s necessarily the case but it’s a possibility.
1:35 i agree flats, but its a worrying sign when they cant manage to even make legendary skins for a new character until 4 seasons (8 months) down the line... simply because of what that could mean for everything else aswell. new heroes, new changes, number fixes... the possibility of multiple cascading catastrophic disasters.

Season 9 rank reset screwed players in Diamond and Masters. We ended up playing with Golds and Silvers and the games came down to, who got the gold or silver Support or Tank and it took forever to climb back up. Also the number of leavers in the lower ranks just meant game outcomes were forced closer to 50% it just depended on who was going to get the leavers.

Does the attacking team get a behind the system numbers boost while the alarm is bleeping at last point? It really feels like they get a small boost that makes it either harder for the team to die or easier for defending team to die. As if the health is +/-, or the damage is instead. At first this seemed to be coincidence, but after a few years of this happening, I have pure conspiracy brain about it now.
about the new borders from the drive event, I remember you asked Aaron time ago about personalization on HUD, so maybe this came from that suggestion??? I like they are bringing new things to competitive as rewards, they talked about this on Blizzcon and I think is very good they are not only limiting to recolors on weapons like the Gold or Jade and trying to bring new things to the competitive ecosystem.

Having the avoid teammate slots time out after 7 days is pointless. There should 5-10 permanent avoid player slots and then 10 temporary slots that timeout at the end of the season, or after one month if you are less than one month from the end of the season.
There's only one skin in the world worth that wait AND if it's not a Dig Dug skin or. collaboration someone is gonna get hurt and it's not gonna be me.
Game still requires a give up/surrender vote system. If you are massively outmatched or have a leaver and you just wait out the time around spawn. A surrender option should be available.
how about make ranked resets optional? like i have no delusions of grandeur that i "belong" in a higher rank. every rank reset i end up in the same place anyway, it just takes more work while at the same time i can't queue with certain friends until i grind up to WHERE I WAS BEFORE ANYWAY. just give me an option to say "no thank you, my rank is fine"

I was a low GM/masters tank a few seasons ago when I played consistently, but I’ve been hard stuck in mid diamond, so hopefully with this change I can get back to where I was lol
Also doesn't help that new heroes are releasing without those buy with credits skins that would come with them on release. I understand its free to play and this is one of the few ways to make money on this kind of game, but its a bit annoying to have credits and all you can really buy are the emotes, voice lines, or sprays for new heroes when they come out. Please give players credits as daily rewards. Blizzard could easily convert the 150 credits a week and divided them into the 6 dailies at 25 credits a pop and that would feel great on top of maybe 250-1000 as a reward from the events as well. 2,850 credits a season if you complete the premium battle pass and 9 weeks of hero progression challenges is simply chump change and being stingy at that. Credits should be handed out like candy due to the limited use they have to only be used on mostly the older OW1 cosmetics.

Predicting the rank is a matter of using a statistics program for them possibly. Maybe the hard part was stringing the right stats together for it, but the math behind that isn't exhaustive because a computer does it. Still, plugging everything in is tedious, and there's so many factors it's insane. I can't imagine doing an analysis of that magnitude. Still, they don't have to do any of the actual math.
Doing some pretty bad math so i could be wrong but i think im close but i dont have exact numbers so im winging some of it. I believe it with juno,jq, and lucio you would get to the first flash point about 42% to 43% faster than a team that just walks. There probably room for optimally doing it and in flash point youll get another speed boost so im not sure but i think it might be closest to high 50% if optimal ability use. So if that is the case then at some high level games we could be seeing also 50% more fights and at the lowest level idk, but at Diamond and master level is really interesting because we see another thing to flame people about.

If you both happened to die the EXACT same second then yes it would be twelve. But if it was you and then them a few seconds later they would have the 6-10 second countdown assumedly

Guaranteed if mercy and kiriko didn’t get any skins with this next season, we’d be seeing a very smaller volume of complaints about skins. I don’t care too much about skins, but I think it’s more of a show of the lack of care and passion for the community overall when they clearly only cater to a certain population of the playerbase with skins.

14:16 I started playing again around mid-season 8, didn't even know group respawn was a thing. Still don't really know what exactly it does aside from inferring from context. Kinda crazy because I've still ended up in situations where me and one other person end up having to wait what feels like 30 straight seconds for staggered teammates to respawn.
My biggest concern with the wave respawn is if you get teamwiped within 2 seconds of each other, which happens pretty often, then everybodys respawn timer will be longer than before. I feel like because of that it could unintentionally benefit snowballing/steamrolling even more than before. Also, it kinda removes some of the impact of staggering. I think they should just ditch it and go back to old respawn timer.
I never liked the respawn changes & was glad that it was only for Qp but NOW they even added more layers to it & is gunna be in comp, it was a skill & took game sense to stagger whole teams idky we're holding their hand w these changes (ppl that stagger)
The thing is that a teamwipe to that extent only really happens with big wiping ults, and that's if everyone is positioned in a group. The respawn changes will mainly change staggering (which will mostly help solo queuing) and probably change more micro things for pro play like keeping track of enemy waves and managing powerful ults

From how they worded it, they are just averaging out all the players due to the reset. And ranking itself is easier depending on how far from the average you are.
the problem here is that players were TOO CLOSE to the middle, they averaged out people way too much cuz they made it too hard to reach champion and maybe ranking in general was too much of a grind.

I am thinking the reason why the spawn thing becomes a bigger issue in higher ranks is staggers. Higher ranks are FAR more likely to stagger people intentionally. By Diamond+ chasing kills to a spawn is a thing that people understand how to do without being punished.

Give more competitive points at the end of the match (Just a few extra per) based on jolly cooperation. This will also help flankers not only secure their target better, and healers will look for them more, but matches will without a doubt be tighter, and you'll probably see less trickle. Also... just give more competitive points per match, and at the end of seasons. There's so many heroes now that we just want to fill alts out. That alone will drive more incentive.
If you're flanking, it's your responsibility to be able to escape and find a health pack. Healers shouldn't be expected to leave their team to come find one player who doesn't know when to exit the fight before they're about to be rolled. That's just forcing your entire team to get rolled because one player is irresponsible and lacks awareness. Flanking irresponsibly and expecting your healer to come save you (when you're likely to die by the time they get there, causing them to be alone and get rolled too) will just cause your team to lose every game.
I don't care about walking in flashpoint but talking about walk simulator and then not changing the walk simulator push, is typically Lizzard

11:25 Are they out of their mind? The pressure modifier ensured that would happen. The modifier made top rank lose more and earn less and bronze players the opposive.
If you are making people in champion lose more than they should, the rating distribution will reflect that and affect to some degree lower ranks too.
Same thing with bronze, if you pressure players out of bronze, obviously it will have less players.

That reminds me of ranked FFA. It was so unbalanced that diamond players were top500, because the first got a win, 2-4 got a "lesser" win and 5-8 got a loss.

A small correctiom regarding the explanation of wave spawning. Using the example Flats gave, if spmebody dies when the first wave has 4 seconds left on their spawn timer, they still get a 12 second timer as they're starting a new wave. You'll only ever get your timer reduced to 10 seconds if the wave you started doesn't have any other players in it when your timer gets down to 6 seconds.

Fr I've been avoiding comp since season 9 because I went from masters to barely staying in plat. Didn't feel like I was doing worse, but suddenly my teammates were. Wasn't sure what I was doing wrong or how to get momentum. Felt super unsatisfying to play comp for an hour just for my rank to be unmoved, or worse, lower. Making immediate rank updates should've improved motivation to play, but the way rank points are calculated feels like I can't make progress.
I'll always prefer big gameplay updates over cosmetics, but it's just been unfair. Venture launched with a recolor and then had another recolor as their only skins. Its been two, gonna be four, battle passes until they get a skin.
Kiriko and mercy have gotten skins nearly every single battle pass. And it's not just venture mains upset about it, tons of heros get skipped so kiriko can have yet another skin. I mean ffs kiriko has *two* crossover skins.
And im certain Juno will launch with a beautiful legendary skin, likely more than one.
I can rarely watch blogs but flats has such a way of reading them i can watch forever lol
Note that he said an exciting skin is coming in s14, not that their next skin is coming in s14. For what we know venture could have a shop skin next or even this season. There’s a chance, because they say that it takes a year for mythical to get fully developed, that s14 will have a venture mythic or just collab skin, that’s why Aaron is point it out.
Not saying it’s necessarily the case but it’s a possibility.

Season 9 rank reset screwed players in Diamond and Masters.
We ended up playing with Golds and Silvers and the games came down to, who got the gold or silver Support or Tank and it took forever to climb back up.
Also the number of leavers in the lower ranks just meant game outcomes were forced closer to 50% it just depended on who was going to get the leavers.

Does the attacking team get a behind the system numbers boost while the alarm is bleeping at last point? It really feels like they get a small boost that makes it either harder for the team to die or easier for defending team to die. As if the health is +/-, or the damage is instead. At first this seemed to be coincidence, but after a few years of this happening, I have pure conspiracy brain about it now.

I like they are bringing new things to competitive as rewards, they talked about this on Blizzcon and I think is very good they are not only limiting to recolors on weapons like the Gold or Jade and trying to bring new things to the competitive ecosystem.

Having the avoid teammate slots time out after 7 days is pointless. There should 5-10 permanent avoid player slots and then 10 temporary slots that timeout at the end of the season, or after one month if you are less than one month from the end of the season.

Game still requires a give up/surrender vote system. If you are massively outmatched or have a leaver and you just wait out the time around spawn. A surrender option should be available.
how about make ranked resets optional? like i have no delusions of grandeur that i "belong" in a higher rank. every rank reset i end up in the same place anyway, it just takes more work while at the same time i can't queue with certain friends until i grind up to WHERE I WAS BEFORE ANYWAY. just give me an option to say "no thank you, my rank is fine"

I was a low GM/masters tank a few seasons ago when I played consistently, but I’ve been hard stuck in mid diamond, so hopefully with this change I can get back to where I was lol
Also doesn't help that new heroes are releasing without those buy with credits skins that would come with them on release.
I understand its free to play and this is one of the few ways to make money on this kind of game, but its a bit annoying to have credits and all you can really buy are the emotes, voice lines, or sprays for new heroes when they come out.
Please give players credits as daily rewards. Blizzard could easily convert the 150 credits a week and divided them into the 6 dailies at 25 credits a pop and that would feel great on top of maybe 250-1000 as a reward from the events as well.
2,850 credits a season if you complete the premium battle pass and 9 weeks of hero progression challenges is simply chump change and being stingy at that. Credits should be handed out like candy due to the limited use they have to only be used on mostly the older OW1 cosmetics.
Would be cool if they let you avoid and select a reason. That way you can also track who’s getting consistently marked to avoid and for what reasons

Predicting the rank is a matter of using a statistics program for them possibly. Maybe the hard part was stringing the right stats together for it, but the math behind that isn't exhaustive because a computer does it. Still, plugging everything in is tedious, and there's so many factors it's insane. I can't imagine doing an analysis of that magnitude. Still, they don't have to do any of the actual math.

Doing some pretty bad math so i could be wrong but i think im close but i dont have exact numbers so im winging some of it. I believe it with juno,jq, and lucio you would get to the first flash point about 42% to 43% faster than a team that just walks. There probably room for optimally doing it and in flash point youll get another speed boost so im not sure but i think it might be closest to high 50% if optimal ability use. So if that is the case then at some high level games we could be seeing also 50% more fights and at the lowest level idk, but at Diamond and master level is really interesting because we see another thing to flame people about.

If you both happened to die the EXACT same second then yes it would be twelve. But if it was you and then them a few seconds later they would have the 6-10 second countdown assumedly
