Honestly? I am astonished by how 'non-uncanny valley' this is. It looks a bit goofy at times with the janky video game animations pushed onto realistic looking actors but compared to a lot of mocap and AI of people I've seen, this actually looks sort of charming in its jank. Maybe that's just me but I'm watching with anticipation for the moment AI manages to consistently pull off non skincrawling character interactions when it needs to!

I love the stainless walls and chrome handrails in the scene where the security guard is letting Gordon into Anomalous Materials. The same goes for the scene with the scientists talking to Gordon at the door of the Test Chamber, I like the stainless steel look. It actually kind of reminds me of how Cyberdyne Systems looked in Terminator 2 except there's modern lcd screens instead of tube monitors. Too bad the AI wasn't good enough to just do an upscaled version of the textures already in place instead of outright replacing it. As much as I like clean futuristic looks sometimes clean is TOO clean. Especially when it's just a flat panel design. :)
The fact it looks like that instead of creepy computer scans pretending to be people is really interesting and exciting to me. A step towards climbing out of the uncanny, creepy looking generative results that a lot of systems suffer from at the moment.

Something tells me that very soon after getting them, our brains would take it for granted and think 'so what?'. I wonder if the realism would have any impact on human psychology. You know if you shoot hundreds of people in photorealistic VR, if that will have any damaging effect on how people see other people in real life.
It might seem impressive, but this sort of generative AI tends to struggle to consistency. If you turn away from a character, will he look the same when you turn back? The AI also clearly struggled with a character's sleeve and apparently thought it was an arm cast.
This seems impressive because it is lol. Look at even a year or two ago with will smith eating his own spaghetti hands, the fact we are complaining about a few moments of inconsistency is fantastic. On top of which, as OP said, this was ONLY supplying the final render, not the scene IDs, not with a pre-trained model with the character's faces and designs. Again, as OP says, there's so much room for innovation here, seems a bit pessimistic to say this isn't impressive work, I would even suggest, this is just an impressive start.

honestly the the next step is likely to do image to image via prompt and or reference (screenshot, painting, photo) and then reproject this onto the real geometry, enhance and upscale textures, models, animations, shaders etc via REMIX live. So much exciting potential.

Imagine downloading an AI engine and having it manipulate every game you play in real time, with imperceptible latency. It's quite possible that this could happen in the next 10 years. All they need to do is develop very fast and efficient AI engines and produce an AI graphics card that can handle these operations.
At this point I don’t care about third world countries and their resources. If what’s standing in the way of real life video games is a few countries sovereignty, that’s fine by me
