  • I always enjoy this circuit. It is a really decptive one as on paper it looks ok. Only about 17 miles but with some big climbs and some full on rocky descents this is very physically demanding (well for an old duffer like me). You always know youve done a good ride afterwards that's for sure. It was actuallt Marc that mentioned he was doing this one with Will and thought......be rude not to tag along :)
Rammed full of classic peak riding including Roych Clough, Jacob's Ladder, Hollns Clough oh and Rushup Edge, which, like a numpty, I forgot to record. Ah well. it's not like I havent done a fair few times!
If anyone watches this video (actually.... I could leave it there!) with the thought of visiting the Peak District for a ride and you are uncertain what to do.... I would strongly recommend it, It is ideal all year round and really will give you a good experience of the riding in the area. It is however a tough one, physically the climb from Hayfield to Jacob's alone can break you a little (unless you're on one of those new fangled battery operated chariots). It is also very challenging riding, always loads of loose rocks and some pretty steep sections. Marc's crash on jacob's highlights how even experienced riders can be caught out. I would also say it is a tough one on the bike for obvious reasons. Still do not let any of those things put you off it is VERY rewarding!

Also a shout out to Steve Edwards / @steveedwards263
and his partner whom I bumped into with a few others.....and actually recognised me 😬
He also passed me as a I pushed up part of Rushup Edge .....Chapeau fella! Made me feel rather unfit.

Definitely a classic and always a challenge. That OTB......you lucky begger. Could have picked up an injury very easily. You rode an orange alpine and your luck on that one 😎

Cracking route, I nearly went over the bars in the same place once - I think Marc got off quite lightly there! 😬 Don't blame you for not showing any of the climb up to Jacob's Ladder - it's tortuous, or at least it feels like it to me! Great vid and great riding 👍

Many Thanks....yes Marc was very lucky and it is a little tyre trap just there. Climbs don't really need showing do they 😜 especially as tortuous as that one!

The Go-Pro never does this ride justice. Some of the best descents in the Peaks in my opinion. Always a classic. No-one ever shows how much brutal climbing is involved tho 😂😂 Great video as always 😊

Ha that's coz no one wants to watch a middle aged bloke or probably anyone huffing and puffing up a mega climb 🤣🤣🤣. You're right though the climbs are full on. Then again that's why the descents are so good. Always love the first part of Roych Clough 👌😎

Really great vid this Jonathan, been threatening to do this for a while and need to pull my finger out and get it done. The descents look epic.

Yep a full on A over T event for Marc. Very lucky to just have a few cuts and bruises. It's a great route with some great descents (and some awful climbs 🥵).

Fantastic video mate!! Tell you what, glad Marc was okay as that could have been nasty 👀
All on camera, that is all that matters then 🤣🤣
You were riding really well, see Rupert the little mouse is still around as well 🐁
Recognise and don't recognise it from our ride in the blizzard of 2021 🤣

Absolutely could have been a mountain rescue job... Thankfully all good! Trails I know well so riding them well is easier but I'll gladly take the praise 😊. Rupert is maybe the reason....he works bloomin hard in that fork you know, especially as he's asthmatic. 😎

Oh don't worry I've been to black rocks a few times. One time was nearly my last 🤣. Plenty of great trails there you're right. Different type of ride though.
