    I've been obsessively binging all the Revive Stronger/Dr. Mike videos and just keep finding new ones. I feel like I've watched at least 20 or so. These have a criminally low amount of views, some of the absolute best fitness content I have ever found!

    Steve brother, ive had the same issue, was ramping up so much volume 3 years ago lol. 6 hours workours. Now you can definitely understand why i was thankful for finding out about Dr Mike. This guy is Genius!

    On the vegan thing, I'm not a vegan (half my diet is eggs, ribeye and salmon) but I do think we need to work out a new way to do milk
    Obviously factory farming too but considering animals and emotions and such? Check out the dairy industry... or don't, because its pretty grim

      I don't think it's just the milk, there is a lot of unnecessary cruelty, I definitely think education is key, and getting your own chickens and whatnot^^ My mom lives in the countryside and get everything from farmers around, chickens roaming free etc, it's cool AND it tastes amazing!       @@ReviveStronger oh yeah there's a lot but at least if I'm eating the creature it's suffering has ended and to not eat at that point is not only a waste but an insult to its life/being. That glass of milk though? The mother is still probably crying for her stolen baby... again. Animals don't naturally lactate all year round, they do it to feed their young. Can't be having all the babies stealing our fresh milk now though can we?
      Man I need a cow. Humanity is capable of such beauty and awesomeness on one hand and on the other....

    I have a question for Dr Mike : is there a difference of hypertrophic stimuli intensity/efficiency when training both upper body muscles and lower body muscles. Basically, is there a difference of anabolism stimuli between a half body upper/lower program and a half body push/pull (legs included, quad in push and hams in pull, etc.) or anterior/posterior muscles ?

      There’s a lot of factors that determine a good stimulus both have the capability to give you a better stimuli but that’s just going to vary on you

    55:53 - Bit of a nitpick there, the average age at slaughter for chickens in the US and UK is seven weeks. That’s partly for cost reasons but also because younger meat is more tender (hence veal). I expect people would just as soon switch to lab meat.
    1:06:00 - That’s something I’d been wondering about. Makes sense that the ideal would be to take as much time as you need. If you are time constrained though, sounds like you just have to accept that as a limitation and whatever progress you can manage under that limitation dictates how you adjust load and volume.

    Hi guys! Do you have tips for keeping the intensity up in the gym while still recovering from another sport? I play a lot of golf, and it stays 90-100F (32-38C) for 4+ months out of the year where I live. During hot months, a 4-hour round of golf can be exhausting, and it feels impossible to get a good workout in on the same day. I know there are some really big guys who practice demanding sports (e.g. Dr Mike with BJJ), so I know it’s possible to have a balance, I’m just struggling with my own. Thanks!!

      Realistically, you need to make one or the other a priority, and train like it.
      So if bodybuilding is the priority, maybe go before golfing, in the morning when it's cooler. If golf is the priority, acknowledge that your rate of gain won't be as fast/optimal as it could be, but you're okay with the trade-off :) Does that make sense?

    Pigs and Cows at the farms I am around come up, get a couple good mouthfuls of thier favorite food, and then lights out with a shot to thier cranial cavity with a shotgun slug, penetration of the skull is complete and the tissue within essentially scrambles immediately from the hydrostatic shock. Even the nervous system continuing to fire is over within a few seconds typically. They are treated unbelievably well and have amazing lives until harvest. The families thank the animal for thier life and what they provide for thier family and are still sad when it happens after years of living this way. I don't see how that is an aweful thing.
    Cats in nature strangle thier prey to death and many times play with it in a tortuous manner, and wild dogs will eat prey alive starting at the haunches. Other animals will rip livers out of prey alive then leave them to die after getting the prized offal.
    On commercial farming.... good luck producing enough food for everyone without it. Hand harvesting takes a few hours for just one 200lb Kunekune, I can't imagine the process on 600lb pigs and 1 ton cattle. The thing is our modern lifestyle and diversity of skills etc cannot be sustained by local communities providing for one another as many do here. Including farming and orcharding.

    It's no wonder why some people accuse Mike of losing touch with what it's like to train as a natural when he's 113kg at 5ft 5in with lower ab veins. He's not even remotely in the human species with those stats. Regarding what he says about Kai Green and Big Ramy being natty on stage at 100 - 120kg; he's forgetting a huge component to genetics which is your response to bodybuilding drugs.
    It's probable that Kai Green and Big Ramy would not have been as massive as 100 - 120kg on stage, but they had an elite response to drugs (or simply an ability to survive such high doses) that made them bigger than everyone else who took the same stuff (and at the same doses) as they did.

      How so?
      He often warns against excessive volumes for beginner lifters and gives details on how to auto-regulate volume and frequency. The principles apply regardless of drugs; if you are sore going in to train you did too much 😁
      I haven't watched all of it yet so I don't know if there is something obvious I haven't yet seen though you do have a point about hyper responders. He does have the situation of being in America however; its not like Greg or Derek who can talk freely about this stuff

    A question for Israetel or some other knowledgeable guest - do constant tension training and/or slower tempo training imitate BFR training as far as the effect on the muscle is concerned, and if yes, does that mean they give similar benefits for hypertrophy?

      Well literal BFR haha. I've come across info that isometrics affect blood flow, impacting both local blood flow in the muscle, and the general circulatory system differently than normal dynamic exercising, and that they elevate blood pressure much more. As far as I understand this includes a level of BFR in the muscles worked. If that is bc the isometrics are necessarily constant tension, it stands to reason that normal dynamic reps with constant tension will have similar effect.

    Great interview I love mike! One point on the veganism topic. The biggest reason to go vegan in my opinion is to reduce suffering as much as practically possible, and I think thats why most people go vegan. If mike is willing to acknowledge that even the most ethical version of slaughter still causes a certain amount of suffering, and since its not necessary to include meat in your diet to make optimal gains, wouldn’t the removal of animal products from your diet be the best way to reduce suffering as much as practically possible? Not looking for a gotcha just slightly challenging mikes spectrum philosophy about veganism which I respectfully disagree with. I don’t believe that its ever okay to consume animal products unless its absolutely necessary (which it almost never is). Thanks for the content as always!

      It's a complex nuanced topic that I have very little knowledge about but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts.     What are your thoughts on estimating RIR on squats? Like when doing squats with a tempo until it gets really hard, and then you stand and take a deep breath to get maybe 2-3 more. But I find that every time I pause and breath 3-5 seconds, I can usually eek out 2-3 more reps, but just one at a time (separated by breaths)

      I just standardize my breathers :) I know I ALWAYD get a few more on a leg press for example with 3-5 seconds, so after I feel like I'm out of gas I then take a couple breathers and manage more, and the whole cycle I limit myself to that breathers protocol :)

    as long as i agree with mikes points, they are kind of "rationalizations so we dont feel bad about eating animals" arguments...
    why instead of guessing if chicken is happy or not and knows it will die or not - why not just accept that they died for us to eat? if we are really able to man up and withstand that, then cool...just eat meat
    but dont get into all those arguments that really are nothing more that excuses for us to feel better...

    I retain water from being over 300lbs fat in my early teens, and now all I get is the strongman look at 220lbs 6ft”3 even after dieting from 250lbs lol
