I tired a Tiana's closet pattern for the first time and tried ti print out just 2 sizes to grade between them and was so confused by the lines I had to reprint with just one size. I did like the pattern though. There is a sew along for the Basalie top by Eloise & Ezra, I also found a channel called Sew Happy who does a lo of sew alongs for Tiana's Closet patterns and other free patterns. I just used a sew along for mine and didn't look at the instructions at all.
I love both of your makes. I downloaded both patterns. I have two great granddaughters that would love the dress you made for Layla. I haven’t done any sewing for months but as I mentally went through my fabric stash I have gotten some inspiration. Thank you Rachel.

I don't know if it was my vlog that you watched but I made that mistake with the pattern layering 😂 Thankfully it turned out fine in the end. Sew Happy has some TH-cam tutorials for those patterns, I used her's for the Isla which was super helpful.
That top looks so nice on you. Lovely colours and a lovely shape. The dress for Layla is adorable, too. I love this challenge, and I managed to get four things made up (I surprised myself..)..
Such beautiful makes! 😍. Katherine from Sewverton Makery had the same issue with the lured. She actually used tweezers and removed the lured but around her neck. Saint didn’t take too long. Might be worth it if it’s bothering you xx
Lovely top, and lovely fabric, I had that fabric and I ended up using a tweezers and drawing out the lurex threads, they are not fully woven through, they are threaded into the top threads of the fabric. No damage to the fabric at all, made for a far more comfortable wear against my skin. I think I am getting grandma envy as I watch you making Layla’s clothes, I do not have any grandchildren. Thank you for taking the time to share.

Your two items are lovely Rachel. I made the Hailey top by Tiana's Closet for Frugal 24. I only printed 3 sizes out and found it very difficult to decide which lines to use. In fact, I nearly tore it up and reprinted it. But, I persevered. This top was a simple one so I didn't really use her instructions. I also made several changes to the basic pattern. The only thing is, I struggled to upload the photo to Frugal 24. Disappointing! (I'm not used to using Instagram)

Hello, love your top, that seems a different fabric that I have seen on you for a while but it looks great! I agree with you about the back and would increase the gap if I was still using the ties which are a nice feature. Love your frugal makes. I wondered if the neckline of Layla's dress could be done by making the frill from a tube of fabric then instead of turning the top over just topstitch a channel for the elastic(obviously leaving a gap for turning the tube and threading the elastic) ,hope that makes sense? xx

Your first blouse is lovely - little tip with the lurex (ask me how I know!) if you can use some tweezers to pull of the threads next to your skin 😊

I made a dress with similar fabric and pulled the Lurex from the facing out with tweezers, worked a treat x
