I didn't even catch that lol. Great tutorial though. I have one question for you. Do you recommend the DLC for someone who has never really touched the VTOL part of this game? I have about 12-15 hours in this game, and I dont really play with the make shift Osprey. Although I am still considering purchasing this.
The dlc is really good in my opinion, i would say play other aircrafts and when there is a sale just grab it, u would regret it, specially if u have a buddy for a gunner seat.
believe it or not the head cam that lets you see through is a real thing. Apache and f-35 pilots have bin given them as standard issue now. Its crazy how a pilot can just look at its target and fire even if its through the aircraft!
Apache pilot here. We do not have a full visor display like in the game here. We only have what's called an IHADSS/HMD. It's basically a cathode ray tube that displays aircraft data through a combiner lens. Imagine looking through a red dot sight on a rifle and keeping both eyes open, that's pretty much what it is. This device is stored in the aircraft and is mapped to that exact aircraft. We also have magnets in our helmets (RMU) to determine our head position in the cockpit. Only the F35 cats have that full visor display. Those helmets are also almost 10x the price of our systems, so very hard to make them standard issue. There's a lot more Apache pilots than F35 pilots.
F-22 has a very similar helmet as well. Most other fighters have at minimum the HMCS or JHMCS as well, which is what we use in the F/A-26B (in game), but the ability to see through a targeting pod is not standard for every aircraft. Fun fact: the F-22 didn't originally come with the cuing system and the test pilots complained so it got added. It wasn't necessary because the jet was so much better than the pilot could ever be so initial designs didn't think they needed it. There are a lot of amusing things in the F-22 that aren't necessary, but the test pilots wanted it. Such as the movement in the stick. It's artificial and only there to appease the pilots who thought the touch sensitivity made it hard to know how far they were moving the stick so we added a few degrees of movement, but it doesn't actually do anything.
@@ah64longbowHahaha, you must be laughing at amateurs like us who can't land without a 300k piece of equipment. Especially since you've probably have done the blind folded takeoff and landing during training 😅.
I've had my helicopters license for about 2 years now, this flight sim is an amazing way to teach my children how to fly and feel like I'm flying again! Very realistic controls
To figure out the yaw trim with the rudder, you move the small arrow, the trim indicator, at the top of the joystick box so it is overtop of the vertical line that represents the movement of your rudder pedals. You can now take your hand off the stick and the Helicopter should fly straight.
Awesome awesome vid! My cousin and I played coop with this for hours and hours yesterday trying to learn the ins and outs of flying. Your vid addressed so many little annoying nuances. We didn’t even know there was a second grip on the collective and I couldn’t figure out what the box icon (trim indicator) was haha. Totally looking forward to playing it again with all these tips and tricks!
Thanks for this video Buddy Spike! I was struggling, then saw one of your previous videos and I hadn't noticed the lower collective handle and trim. Loads better now. Subbed!
Thank you for this! And thank you for making a video with mistakes. Many times when I watch "perfect" tutorials and the person saying: " this is easy, you just have to..." I feel like an idiot.
Thanks mate, the only info I needed was the trim and the sensitivity of the stick. I felt as though I was fighting the sensitivity rather than the Heli when playing
Very informative, thanks man! I was attempting to fly that monster for awhile now and was getting manhandled every single time. I'm gonna try again after this video and see if it gets any better!
I found slight roll trim just to the left until higher speeds helps but 300+ knots I’ve needed to trim it about a quarter of the way left to actually be able to roll over. Speed lock seems to be a thing sometimes.
Very late I know, but thank you so much for this informative and simple tutorial! I went from leaning to the right and instantly crashing to flying no problems at all!
i actually prefer to keep the rotor brake on until both engines are powered up, because it locks you from going farther than idol, which i find pretty helpful.
the f-35 does have a similar system to look through the plane. Not sure if all of them have it, but i know it exists at least in niche options. there are some videos on the very very expensive helmet f-35 pilots wear. Great vid also!!!
Great video! That take-off tip is really helpful, was having some really aggressive take off's, adjusting trim at takeoff to compensate makes a lot of sense. How often do you use AP Hover? Any tips on how best to go from fast flight into a tactical hover to maintain control?
i treid AP hover but I dont use it normally, unless I wanna set a camera and record a video in the air, answer to second question is collecive down roll and pull hard then collect approx half after ur speed is 0
Thank you for making all the videos bro bought the Vr Vtol several months ago but after 2weeks of trying and not much tutorial vid just game up I guess .. but will try again soon and see you all in the battlefield peace out
Great video. I just got the game and I will be flying with a friend tomorrow. Your video has a lot of great info. Nicely done, Brudda. Thank you for making this
Part of Apache flight training is called Day System or "The Bag." This is where we will completely black out the Pilot crewstation while the instructor in the CPG station will remain unobscured. The pilot has to fly using just the PNVS/TADS which is displayed in our right eye through the HDU. So yes, we can and have to fly/land using just the aircraft's sensors.
Very great guide for beginners. It is very helpful. Landing with a helmet-mounted camera is pretty easy, I wonder if people do that in real life. By the way, how did you record the video? Did you put the spectator camera into the PC monitor (in VtolVR Setting) and then do the Desktop screen recording? I doubt that I can record video directly from the cockpit
Haven’t watched yet… I am assuming this is going to be helpful… so I am just going to say thank you for this… I do ok in the ah94 for a bit but always end up losing control and end up a heaping pile on the ground. Now hopefully this video delivers. I’ve been waiting for someone to make this.
I've been trying to learn to fly this thing and found that using the weapon pod camera on the HUD was VERY distracting. If you're landing somewhere with a waypoint, like the landing tutorial, I found it worked much easier to have the view on one of the MFD's and just push the waypoint button. This way, you can see the waypoint marker through the helicopter, but not the camera view but you can still see the landing area on the MFD. One thing I'm not totally clear on is What is the SAS dial? Stability Assist?
You keep saying to lower the collective and raise pitch to slow down, and you seem to not gain much altitude at all. But I find that when I do that, I skyrocket in the air. Any tips on slowing down while staying low to the ground?
You will skyrocket if u pitch up to the max, what u gotta do is keep an eye on ur velocity vector and when u pitch up make sure ur velocity vector does not go above artificial horizon, this way you maintain level and slow down with collective down. Hope that helps.
One thing not answered here that SEEMS simple but man I can't figure it out: how do you build up that much speed? Only way I can seem to do it is when I'm descending!
