  • Today I am making my new Oatmeal, Milk & Honey Cold Process Soap. I decided to split my additives by layer for a fun soap design. I then added a “wax seal” made with soap dough. Full recipe below.
    Full recipe below.
***Test batching: I recommend doing a test batch if you're using a new recipe, fragrance oil, or special additives. You don't want to ruin a large batch if things don't go as planned! This is my test batch size. You can adjust yours to suit your needs.

    Recipe:
    Lard 60%
    Coconut Oil 25%
    Olive Oil 5%
    Sweet Almond Oil 5%
    Castor Oil 5%
    SF: 5%
Water: I'm using a 1.7:1 Water to Lye Ratio
    Additives:
    Layer 1) Colloidal Oatmeal 1tbsp & Cocoa Powder 2tsp
Layer 2) Coconut Milk Powder 2tbsp (you can substitute with goat milk powder)
Layer 3) Raw Honey Diluted with distilled water. I also added Anna to seed powder and king tut mica to the mix. I added 1.5tbsp
TOP) extra batter with some king tut- then added impression pieces. On top I added more batter and some king tut mica.
I added 4TSP of Sodium Lactate to my Lye/Water solution before pouring into oils.
I soaped this batch at 90 degrees F
I put this batch in the fridge for two hours after pouring to prevent gel and then placed on counter.
Cut after at least 24hrs even with Sodium Lactate.
****IMPORTANT: Please run this recipe through a soap calculator for your batch size. This will give you your water/lye ratio once you input your desired ratio and batch size. You can also adjust your hard to soft oil ratio to meet your preferences. **
Fragrance: Oatmeal Milk & Honey - Kentucky Candle Supply - using IFRA guidelines calculated for my batch size.
    Colors: Mad Micas: bit.ly/4cROxeL
    Gold: King Tut
    Annato to seed powder
Soap Dough: Marshmallow (soap dough by Bonita on Etsy) mixed with king tut.
    Wax seal from Temu
