Gradient Heart Soap - Cold Process Soap Recipe - Noir 29 Type from Vine Vida
Today I’m making gradient heart soap using a cookie cutter.
Recipe below.
***Test batching: I recommend doing a test batch if you're using a new recipe, fragrance oil, or special additives. You don't want to ruin a large batch if things don't go as planned! This is my test batch size. You can adjust yours to suit your needs.

Recipe:
Lard 50%
Coconut Oil 20%
Olive Oil 20%
Castor Oil 5%
Cocoa Butter 5%
SF: 5%
Water: I'm using a 1.7:1 Water to Lye Ratio
I soaped this batch using the hot lye to melt my butters. I usually microwave the butters for 2-3 minutes to soften a little before adding the lye water.
I forced gel for this batch in the oven. Preheat oven to 170F turn off and then put soap in.
You’ll want to cut the hearts or shapes out soon after unmolding when the soap can be cut easily. I listed the cutters I used below.
*****IMPORTANT: Please run this recipe through a soap calculator for your batch size. This will give you your water/lye ratio once you input your desired ratio and batch size. You can also adjust your hard to soft oil ratio to meet your preferences. ***
Fragrance: Noir 29 Vine Vida
Colors: Cocoa Powder & TD

Today I'm making Taro Milk Tea Boba Soap. I used a previously untested fragrance oil (for me) and also added taro tea powder just to test the results and to add enhanced lather. The Boba holes were made using a round metal file while the soap was soft enough to punch through. I then used Melt and Pour soap to fill the holes. Afterwards I planed the soap to be smooth again. Making Soap on a Rope - Confetti Soap Rebatching 🎉 - With Recipe
THIS is the most beautiful soap video I have seen! Just subscribed! I’ve been soaping for only a year. My biggest question….. how can you take sooo long to pour & it doesn’t harden up on you? Thanks sooo much! I’ll be watching future videos♥️♥️🎄🎄
This is super cool!
Thanks. They are fun to make.
I don't use animal products, wondering what a good sub for lard might be.... more palm oil?
Here’s a good vegan recipe. Absolutely. If you’re looking for a vegan option a good mix is olive oil and palm oil with coconut and castor oil. You’ll need to run through soap calc to get your desired formula. I suggest: olive : 45 - coconut: 25 - Palm: 25 - Castor: 5 with 5% superfat www.soapcalc.net/calc/SoapCalcWP.asp
This is gorgeous! You have inspired me! Your soap batter is so unctuous and luxurious; and your technique is down to an art! Bravo!🎉 ❤️🤍💚🧼🤩
so pretty 😊
Lovely soaps! Very interesting design. What did you use to seal the hearts in the middle? M&P?
You can use m& p or leave not sealed.
Love this design! ❤🎉
How neat!!! These are awesome!!
@@dianehedricks7860 thanks.
How lovely, thank you for sharing ❤
Those are beautiful!
Beautiful
Never heard of Anatto. Should know that. Is it a pigment? Plant? Mineral?
It’s a plant powder used for cooking or color.
Absolutely beautiful
Love the music and your pace. Beautiful job on video and soap. ❤
That is very nice soap. I love the natural colors. I was in my local grocery yesterday and came across beet powder. I was so excited. I thought what a perfect red colorant, only to find out later that it fades. Do these colors last?
Indigo from a trusted supplier will give you blue if infused in oil or added to your lye water. Anatto gives a nice color as well. Rhubarb is nice for a pink/red color. You should look at Lovin Soap Studio. She has tested everything as well as many others. There are many things that will not survive the saponification process. lovinsoap.com/2017/02/natural-soap-colorants-cold-process-soap/
Beautiful soap, love the colors!!! The smell must be amazing too!
Great Job. ❤
These look amazing, anytime I make a red and white soap they turn out looking like a T-Bone steaks...lololol
Marketing idea: if you like T-Bone steak, you will love these soaps 😂😂
Very inspiring ❤❤❤
Beauregard ❤❤❤
Pretty!
Nice soap
Thanks so much.
This is the best peppermint soap I have ever seen! It doesn't look like meat! Woo hoo! 🎉 Thanks for the video, and the recipe, too! I can't wait to try it. I just found your channel and subbed, and I am looking forward to exploring your content.😊 This is going to be such fun!!!!!
This one is fun!! Just make sure to use the proper amount of Red Mica to get a true red. I use Mad Micas. Bramble Berry and Nurture Soap are great too. Show me a pic when you make it 😍😍
@@Hudsonvalleysoapery Thanks, I will! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks for sharing! I’m want to do this soap but was wondering if the red color bleeds when using the soap. Or does it stain? Thank you again.
Bold colors will bleed but won’t stain. Red and black will bleed into water yes.
New to your channel, loved all colors and swirls. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much. New videos coming soon.
Sorry to bother you again 😔 but I'm planning to do this soap on Thanksgiving weekend... question, with what else can I substitute palm oil? Thanks in advance ☺️
Babassu is closest in SAP value. You can also use shea butter or mango butter.
@@Hudsonvalleysoapery Excellent! Thank you again 💓
Can I do it with melt & pour? 🤭
@@FRIDA.13 you could but you’d need to pour very fast. Not sure how it would work out. By the time you’re ready to swirl the M&P may be too thick. You could try a small batch.
@Hudsonvalleysoapery Yes, that's my concern 😟 I'm in the middle of transitioning from m&pour to cp I did cp soaps already, and it's so satisfying the mixing and pouring 😃
You’ll love CP. melt & pour is hard for me. I’m not good at timing. CP gives you more time.
I just started my CP soap making. I was determined to make a natural but pretty as l could. Research TD only to find out it causes tumors in rats and c its also in the mica powder. So not as pretty as yours but l feel safer😂 I'm going to try this with yellow paprika infused oi. It's the prettiest yellow and a green clay using a little if the yellow color oil from carrots to see if I can get a more yellow green/yellow swirl.😊
@@patriciaboatman8423 what does TD stand for?❤
With other hard oil can I substitute the lard?... please and thank you 😊
Fantastic
Thanks!
Thank you for the slower version. I so love this soap, can almost smell the peppermint thru my iPad. I am assuming you split the white to prevent thick trace?
I split it just so it’s more manageable for pouring.
Perfection!!! Chef's kiss or soaper's kiss!!!
Thank you! ❤️
It's too fast to understand what is going on.
Hi- I uploaded a slower version as well.
@Hudsonvalleysoapery Thank you.
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Could you please slow the video it is really hard to watch at the speed chosen. Thank you
Hi - I’m uploading a slower version for you now. Sorry about the speed.
Gorgeous, but can you slow things down a bit? I really want to see how you did the swirl. Thank you
Yes my one comment would be it’s too fast throughout and hurts the eyes to watch
@ but it turned out beautiful. I am going to try it!
Hi - I’ve uploaded a new version at a slower speed for you.
@@tassiegirl1991 Hi - I’ve uploaded a new version at a slower speed for you.
Cuuuuuute!!!
Love the design. Super cute
Beautiful!!!
So cool
How much black sea salt are you adding?
I added 4 tablespoons along with a hefty teaspoon of the added mica. My batch was 2300grams. I added that to half my batter.
Where can this mold be found? Never seen one with a glass cover.
@ hi. It’s one of the Amazon molds. amzn.to/3ZxwAy4
The water is stunning, can I ask what colors you used please?
I believe Crazy Eyes, Preppy Blue and Bermuda Triangle from Mad Micas. Cocoa Powder for sand and TD for white. ❤
@@Hudsonvalleysoapery Thank you so much!!!
Salt adds volume to your batter. This recipe was only calculated for my 5lb soap mold but yields an extra 2.6lb of soap. This helps when oils such as olive and butters such as cocoa are currently too expensive to use. Read the full description for my full recipe. You won’t be disappointed.
Love the punch nail file technique. Very smart. Can you provide a link for it? Also, love your logo. Do you have any rabbits? I ask because, I do as well. I love your videos. I feel like we have some things in common. Rabbits, soap making and my entire family lives in the Hudson Valley. I love it there. Plan to move back there in the next 5 years.
