Thank you! That’s how I did it for my shipping container shop.l and in my garage. I figure it’s easier to replace the shop light with plug in types….so no hardwiring needed😊🙏
WOW! Is this live? I'm listening and there's lightning & thunder, lol. I need to build a pump house for my cistern. Sure glad you go through all the steps! Like the music, also!
Thank you Manny! Glad you liked it…. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do for that and then I saw those scraps sitting around that were close to the sizes I’d need. A little bit of cutting and some rivets later I had a nice durable box to protect them.
Joe - you are absolutely the most skilled, dedicated and resourceful You-Tuber I have the pleasure of viewing on the Tube! Thanks for sharing your projects with us. I sincerely look forward to every video that you post. Please take care and be safe. Best regards, Lloyd C. in Houston
Thank you Lloyd! But I gotta say I feel pretty basic compared to some of the stuff that other folks put out. But maybe on the resourceful side, I’ll take it😂🙏. Always appreciate you watching and thank you for the kind words!!!!!
Yes, that is one of my favorite parts of monsoon season. The changes can be quite drastic…. It went from hot and muggy to cool and refreshing in about an hour.
Thank you Joe... another great video documenting you infrastructure. Do you have to worry about extended freezing temperatures during winter season.? A suggestion, perhaps a typed sheet of directions on how the pump system works and suggestions on steps to troubleshoot problems for times when you are working and unavailable. Also, consider adding a GFI-C outlet as an added layer of protection. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle rains, seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother
Thank you. Yes we do have some periods of extended freezing….,but it’s usually only a few days at most. I think the hardest freeze I’ve ever had in ‘this’ area of arizona was into the teens at night and up to the low twenties in the day. Last for 3 days or so before getting to more mild temps. However, I have been in the single digits for about a week during an elk hunt in northern arizona though. Cold for this desert transplant🥶 I do like your advice on the instruction a lot! And my blessings to you and your family as well!
@@homesteadonomics Just thoughts for the others in your absences. Alternatively, it becomes a reminder of what your were thinking for the next upgrade 15 years from now... ;~)
Just want you to know your influence. Rayobi has replaced my Makita Tools which my son sold when he believed that I would not be up & around nearly 3 years ago - boy did I fool the Doctors & my recovery team. You entertained me during recovery.
Well I do have some red paint on hand from a couple recent horse props I made for my daughter…haha. But I don’t think I’d do full red though. But I definitely was to do something kinda interesting🧐😂
you are my favorite homesteader on youtube. Im really impressed with what youve accomplished. been dreaming of doing something like this for years but just dont have the money.
Always better than before, always more efficient. Upgrades don't mean we didn't do a good job or decent job the first time or two, but that we are always improving. This is an upgrade that you will be satisfied with for a long time, I'm sure.
Great project. I love building things that allow you to pick up a whole wall by yourself. It’s great to see videos where safety is taken seriously. The main point I didn’t see or hear about was the guttering for this building? Thanks again for sharing and love a building that looks like nothing will have an option to make a home in it!
Thanks Thom! Yes, if I can make it critter proof structure I’m gonna do it. As for guttering….. yep, it’ll get a little gutter at some point. But it’ll be a bit later as I don’t know where I’d route that water to right now.
Another great build, I was hoping we were going to get a few minutes of lightning and darks sky’s from that thunder storm, we don’t get many like that here in Coleshill West Midlands Uk great video all the same.🇬🇧🇺🇸
😁🙏. Thanks Henry! And as for the pac12 big12 stuff….I’m so at a loss with this conference switches and all the weirdness that I’m about where I can’t follow it anymore🤪. East coast schools in west coast conferences…. West coast schools in Atlantic conferences….etc,. It’s so confusing 😂
As a retired telcom tech, may I suggest one or two zip tie buttons & some zip cords to take the strain off the yellow electrical cord that powers your pump.
With regards to insulation, if you have any leftover fiberglass batts, just use that. Insulation is really just more about slowing down the temperature change inside the building anyways. And I love The rustic look with the panels.
Looks good brother ... Im almost done with our mech room .. I want to see ur filters mine are 10" but I want the ceramic filters I just don't want to lose pressure... Keep it up brother looks great......
Thanks! And I’m glad this is aligning with your project too……kind of adds some relevance since you’re all dialed into this subject right now. I’m still working on figuring what system I’m going to use…. Or piecing one together.
I actually did pick up some blue spray paint…haha. Not sure how exactly I’m going to use it yet….accent stripe, lettering….. but I’ll figure something out🤪
For your ventilation system, how about a screen covered vent just above the floor at the rear and a "aire hawk" type vent on the roof or front wall. Leave the metal like it is, gives it a "been here for years look".
Important step that you didn't video... step #1, measure the width of your tank. step #2 make your door wider than that width. Start with those two steps and the rest works itself out.
I have an would like to eventually. But I don’t have the income to pay for something like that right now. Unfortunately the ‘gov rebates’ don’t apply the same in my area. Aka…they don’t like us ‘rural folks’😂 Also, the programs with companies that do grid tied systems where you lease and layback the system are usually riddle with clauses and oThe things I find troublesome. But when I do, I will most likely opt for a fully off grid, battery style setup😊
No, sorry. I don’t have anything specific listed out. But if you watch those videos you should be able to identify all the components of the pump setup, rainwater layout (in the home system tour video), and some do my QA videos on rainwater. But since you mention it. I probably ought to do some more updated stuff on these topics😊🙏
I am gonna make my daughter one of those pvc bows your made which looks super awesome, I already made the jig and have pvc , I’m just curious where you got the foam balls or recommend where to buy and brand , thanks for your time
no idea if you are in an area of freezing temps, but seems like it would have been better to have the water inlet... inside the pump house? Nice diamond plate box though!!!
The super short and quick answer is money. I don’t have the funds to do it. And my area there aren’t enough rebate funds to make it worthwhile. Most are reserved for municipal areas…..they don’t cater to us ‘rural rednecks’ 🤪. Not to mention there are always strings attached with you deal with gov programs. Also, I have looked into a few of the ‘solar city’ type outfits that do ‘grid tied’ systems. But aside from the lack of rebates I have found the contractual obligations to be troublesome. But I would definitely LIKE to do it. Just a matter of funds. And when I am able, my ideal would be to be fully off grid, with batteries. As I wouldn’t be interested in grid tied. Anyways, hope that made sense…at least a little bit🤪
I did not forget, just chose not to. Sometimes that underpayment can trap moisture between the underpayment and the boards. For a house where it is completely sealed and not likely for water infiltrations….it’s a different matter. But for this simple she’d structure that will undoubtedly get some water when I do things like maintenance and have to drain things….there will be an inclusion of moisture past what would be normal. Not the ‘right’ thing….just my thoughts.
Ha. You need a rain roof over your diy camper. To keep it safe and also catch more rain water. You say it doesn't get that cold for insulation, but doesn't insulation help with heat also?
Was using nails, not screws…but I guess next time I’ll drill pilot holes for the nails. Thank you! And yes, it’s a simple shed structure with a pump in it. Nothing fancy. Just a basic structure. Good day to you😂👍
You know what….it is about that time of year. I’ve got an extended camping trip coming up where I won’t have to shave for work….so that’s always the best way to do it in my opinion…. To “shave it in” so you don’t have to go through awkward stages of people saying….”what is that on your lip”😂
Quality installation.
As an electrician, THANK YOU for the outlet for the light, that one add-on saves more of our lives than you can imagine!

i like the splotchy look of the siding. it gives the pump house a rustic look.

For the receptacle that the pump plugs into- would a GFCI be a better option vs a regular receptacle due to a water pump plugged into it?
no idea if you are in an area of freezing temps, but seems like it would have been better to have the water inlet... inside the pump house? Nice diamond plate box though!!!

7:40 - Just drill a hole before screwing so wood wont crack - so basic. Also this shack is so primitive, so any drunk guy can fall it xd
