The reason saber isn't given more "character" is because she is supposed to be the heroine of 1 of the 3 stay night timelines (unlimited blade works is the second timeline which has rin as the heroine) the problem is it doesn't have a good adaptation The third timeline though has a movie trilogy adaptation you can watch
@@JCsReviews honestly read the vn or manga for the heavens feel too because the movies are awesome and top tier but the movies don't really do alot of explaining of why things happen the way the happen but you should still watch the movie whether before or after the vn/manga is up too you
Actually, Rin is arguably the heroine of all three routes. It's just that each route is a different love interest for Shirou. After all, you can't say Sakura is the heroine of HF.
Hope you don't mind the length of this comment, but i want to be thorough with my thoughts. I'm not exactly a Fate "fan", but i very much love the core Fate story, the visual novel is fantastic and a total classic. i hope this comment gives you some insight! fortunately Fate is actually a lot simpler than people make it out to be. the reason it seems so complex is because there's a large number of Alternate Universe spinoff series. The actual original story is FATE/STAY NIGHT. Fate/Stay Night forms the entire core and foundation of the franchise and serves as the chief viable entry point for it as well. it's the original story and everything else that comes after it spoils it in some way, or assumes/expects familiarity with it. Fate/Stay Night is the original, core story of Fate. its sequel, Fate/Hollow Ataraxia also is a part of the core Fate experience. Fate/Zero also is considered as such despite being a spinoff, due to its close connections to Fate/SN's story. So if you want my recommended order for Fate, here it is: Fate/Stay Night (Visual novel) > Fate/Zero anime/novel > Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (Visual novel) The Fate/SN anime are just supplemental material/fanservice. and the various spinoff's are completely seperate stories that share a few concepts. everything beyond FSN, FZ, and FHA is pretty much just optional. and can be consumed or ignored entirely at your own discretion. The best starting point for Fate is the visual novel. the VN 's story is told across three routes. the Fate route, the UBW route, and finally the Heaven's Feel route. they build on eachother in this order. And it's because F/SN is like this that Unlimited Blade Works' anime seemed to not satisfy you regarding how it handled certain characters. it's why Saber seems like such a side character in both series you watched. it's not that they were afraid to have her be a major focus, it's because she has an entire route that revolves around her. The Fate route IS Saber's story. much like how UBW is focused on Shirou and Rin. it's not that they "Could've done more with her". it's really that they DID, but you missed that story cuz you have to read the visual novel for that. You said it didn't do anything with a character it built up early on? i assume you must mean Illya right? the reason for this is because Illya has entire character arcs and tons of screentime in the Fate route and ESPECIALLY the Heaven's Feel route. I don't blame you for being disappointed cuz i was too. but the reality is simply that Illya's role in UBW is minimal, since the focus is elsewhere. and that works really well in the Visual novel. but not so much in an anime. conversely, characters like Caster and Archer are much less relevant in the other two routes. Caster barely shows up at all outside UBW. Fate/Stay Night is three routes that form one whole narrative. no singular route stands on its own, and they rely on the context of eachother to work as a story. UBW builds on Fate. and Heaven's Feel builds on both. so technically you already went out of order lol. Unlimited Blade Works is not a sequel to Fate/Zero. it is a sequel to the Fate route, which has no 1:1 anime adaptation (the anime it DOES have is very bad). this is one of the chief reasons why the visual novel is 100% the best place to start. it introduces you to the world of Fate and everything else, it builds its themes and narrative in a natural, gradual way that's easy to follow. Now if this sounds complex, i apologize. but basically the entire fate/stay night story is the foundation, and everything else builds off it either directly (Hollow Ataraxia, Zero) or indirectly (everything else). it seems complicated because the anime are a generally bad place to start. you can enjoy some of them fine, but personally i didn't even really understand the story or "get" the characters until i read the visual novel. everyone disagrees on where to start with the anime because the most viable starting point anime-wise is a really shitty adaptation, and nobody is willing to read the source material even though it's much simpler to do so. To answer your question of where to go from here, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you read the visual novel next! It's a bigger time commitment than the anime, but trust me that it's 100% worth it. It took me only 3-4 weeks to finish the whole thing and it was really satisfying experience. There's tons and tons of nuance and insight into the story and characters that the anime does not capture (which may have a lot to do with why you found Shirou a bit annoying). While the HEaven's Feel movies might technically be the next Fate on your list, i strongly recommend you wait until after reading the visual novel to watch them. the HEaven's Feel movies adapt an entire 20+ hour VN route into 3 movies. MASSIVE amounts of stuff is cut. remember how i mentioned Illya's super important in the Heaven's Feel route? well the movies cut pretty much all her scenes and character development so it can focus on lengthy action scenes and Sakura. so Illya's character is severely hampered in all the Fate/Stay Night anime, unfortunately. Do you have any questions? i tried my best to cover my thoughts and explain things to you, so i hope i was helpful. TL;DR: the next Fate you should check out is the visual novel.
Lol I don’t mind the long comment and I think I got everything you were saying. Also Illya was who I was talking about, I wasn’t a fan of how she wasn’t in the series that much but that makes me wanna check out the visual novel to see what they do with her character there. I don’t think I have any questions and I’ll probably check out the visual novel because I’ve never read one before and have always wanted to try reading one so I guess my first visual novel will be Fate Stay Night lol
@@JCsReviews Sounds good. and yeah Illya gets shafted pretty bad in the F/SN anime since she's not a focus in UBW and the Heaven's Feel movies cut like 90% of her scenes or somethin. (which is a shame since her arc is instrumental to the True ending of that route). I'm glad you'll check out Fate/Stay Night! just keep in mind that it is rather slow paced at times and takes a bit to get going. most VNs are slow to start in general, but it almost always pays off in the end. and man does FSN have some great endings...
Hand's down the best comment! You explained pretty much everything and in a very articulate way! I was about to write a paragraph myself but thank God I saw your comment! You saved my time cuz there is no way i could of managed to explain it better than that especially the saber part since a lot of anime only people don't know much about her and that she actually has a route of her own!
Coming from a huge fan I'll try to keep this as simple and short as I can make it so you can understand the whole universe of the Fate Series. Fate Zero is basically the prequel of Sate Night and a good foundation to show what the series is about. It shows the people and their history to fight for the grail at the same time not showing all of it. It's more of the darker parts of the series but that's to come when all the characters don't hold back' With Fate/Stay Night it shows Shirou , Rin and Sakura and their life after Fate Zero as they are all victims from Fate/Zero which all of them having their own route, Saber being the "Stay Night" route , Rin being the "Unlimited Blade Works" route and Sakura being the "Heavens Feel" route. The anime does a great job of adapting the visual novel but it does leave out a lot from the visual novel and changing some other scenes. Alot of people say to skip on the Fate Route (Saber Route) because it was animated pretty bad and not everyone was fond of it , that's why usually everyone talks about UBW and the Heavens feels movie. I would describe every route as Shirou having a mental battle with his ideals and the people around him changing the way he starts to see himself due to his Survivals Guilt thru out the entire series which does make him annoying at times whenever he talks about becoming a Hero of Justice. What I love about Fate is how complex and deep it is with every character having deep history and connections with the series in general to where you start to understand how crazy the lore can be. With Astolfo he's from Fate/Apocrypha where it has the same premise as Fate/Stay Night and Zero but instead of a all out battle royal with seven servants and masters , It's a 14 vs 14 with 2 teams being Team Red and Team Black where each team has 7 masters and 7 servants. I highly recommend watching it due to how crazy the series gets and how battles are different due to the story having a team based strategy. With Fate/Apocrypha it does not have any connection to Zero or Stay Night due to the Lore and history being different other than fighting for the Holy Grail being the same goal. What I would recommend watching is Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia . Fate/Grand Order is a mobile gatcha game where instead of fighting in the Holy Grail War the 2 main characters have to travel through time to avoid humanities destruction. These are called Singularities and there are 7 of them which Babylonia being the last Singularity they travel to and being one of the fan favorites which has 21 episodes and a bonus episode 0. There are other Singularities that did get an adaptation which is Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot having 2 Movies. A great way to get into Grand Order would be Fate/Grand Order: First Order which is basically the beginning of the mobile game and a great foundation to help understand Grand Order as a whole being a 1hr episode . Not all of the mobile game got animated with most of the Singularities being skipped so the watch order would be Fate/Grand Order: First Order . Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot movies and then Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front Babylonia There is also a movie that adapted the Final Singularity called Fate/Grand Order Final Singularity - Grand Temple of Time that aired earlier this year back in July. These are mainly the main stories of the series and the most popular. If you want to watch other fate series I would recommend watching a youtuber called Gigguk and his videos perfectly and comedicly explaining the Series as whole (Since everything is canon in one gigantic universe). I did enjoy how you reviewed on both Zero and UBW and recommend making another video when you watch more of the fate series and understand it more as a whole. It is a bit tempting to get into the series but once you get a good footing you'll start to understand all of it. Sorry for the long comment but this is actually a shorter explanation lol
Thanks for the comment even if it was a little long lol. I’ve been hearing the first stay night timeline was animated poorly so I was planning on checking out the visual novel for that and then I’ll probably watch the movie. Also I will definitely be checking out fate Apocrypha when I get the chance and I appreciate the watch order for grand order because I haven’t seen anyone mention that series yet so I was wondering how to watch it
@@JCsReviews to give setting for these series...for Apocrypha, its (Sort of) a alternate what if scenario where in one of the fuyuki grail wars, instead of the einzberns summoning avenger, they summoned a ruler class, then in the middle of the war a nazi soldier got his hands on the grail, and took it for his own gain starting the yggdmillenia family, FGO's plot starts off with the mariesbury family going to fuyuki and joining the grail war with a caster and winning, to get the funds to start up chaldea, the base hub for the series, it has a lot of terms and gimmicks related to Fate Extra timeline but those are really on a want-to-know basis, so you can go by with literally no primer and still get a kick out of the story, as for the others.... Fate Kaleid is from a timeline where the fuyuki grail war never started for kerry and irisviel and they live happily ever after with their lesbian loli daughter illya, who has a crush on shirou and turned into a magical girl. Fate extra not actually available as a anime, and we only got that mess of a series known as encore, but the gist of it is, magic has become blurred together with technology and now magi are fancy super hackers that can send their consciousness into cyberspace, it takes place on a alien computer on the moon which archives the history of the world and run simulated battles to determine who gets to control it, there are the more.... lesser known series as well that has little connection to the main fate series like, Fate Strange/fake, Fate Prototype, Fate/Red Line, Fate/Requiem but those are only in novel or manga form, so look into those in separately if you feel like it
All of the adaptations also suffer from making Shirou come across as a generic idiot hero because, unlike the VN, there's no internal monologue that explains his thought process to convey just how screwed up his mind is.
@@JCsReviews also there is lord El melloi case files anime it's a story about rider master from fate zero after the event in the fate zero anime it's less focused on holy grail wars and more focused on modern mage society and kinda like detective anime Personally I want to know what do you think about fate grand order anime adaptation since you are new to the fate series because I want to know if that anime makes sense for someone who never played fate grand order and is it a good anime for a newbie fate fans
Yes Saber was not a main characer in Fate/Zero or in Fate/UBW. Fate the original game had 3 routes with 3 heroines Saber in fate route, Rin in Unlimitted Blade works route and Sakura in Heaven's feel route.
Astolfo is from Fate/Apocrypha Alright, onto the others! Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel is another route after Zero, and it has the most insane twists ever, can't spoil who's secrets been kept, watch it and see, it's great! First: Presage Flower Second: Lost Butterfly And Third: Spring Song Then you can watch whatever you want.
@@InevitableWelchs The fact that Rin and Sakura are sisters. The fact that the Grail is corrupted and Angra Maynu is the reason for it. The true relationship between Kiritsugu and Kotomine. Like a ton more stuff...
If you want to know more about the magical world, and considering that you liked Waver (rider's master in Zero)... Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files If you want to see another version of Shirou, Rin, Sakura etc., but with a darker development and a totally different ending... The movies of Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel If you want to expand your understanding of the war for the holy grail and the servants... Fate/Apocrypha
The problem with trying to adapt Shiro is the anime has to cut a lot of his internal monologue as he is actually a really introspective character. As for the hero of justice thing yeah it does get excessive but when you find out why, it's really tragic (the following is stuff you'd know if you watched fate/stay night or played the first route of the eroge yes fate stay night is a porn visual novel) several years ago right after the fourth holy grail war, the grail caused the great fuyuki fire, Shiro was in that fire.(hey kid you're walking into hell) his family died initially and he was half dead on his feet as he ignored all the cries for help and the screams as he tried to escape but he doesn't and collapses and is about to die, but he is saved by kiritsugu implanting Avalon saber's scabbard into him. (Hence why he summoned saber himself when he comes across kiritsugu's old summoning circle) he survives but he is dead inside when he comes to he sees kiritsugu's smiling face filled with tears. Kiritsugu later adopts Shiro and raises him until he dies due to a curse from the grail. Kiritsugu tells Shiro on his deathbed that he wanted to be a hero of justice, and this child suffering survivors guilt and being empty of self worth latches on to kiritsugu's wish and makes an oath to fulfil his dream, kiritsugu smiles and thanks Shiro leaves but kiritsugu's smile dies and he weeps for his adopted son as he has given Shiro a curse a path that leads to ruin. It's why Shiro is so suicidal and doesn't want anyone to get hurt even if they're many times stronger than him. The first route has him and saber fall in love. Saber trains him in swordsmanship (they have sex multiple times under the excuse of mana transfer every time it is mentioned there was a sex scene in the anime this is glossed over which makes things hilariously not make sense. The anime has rin get mad at Shiro for looking at her memories but what it really was about was he was too rough with her for her first time) second route Rin is the romance and it's also about building Shiro's self worth back up. Final is the sakura route or as I like to call it the worst route. Not because of the quality but the story it gets dark really quickly.
It's funny, in making this video you were attempting to tamper down people's fears about getting into the series but it might actually done the opposite for people. Your misunderstandings or confusion about certain things it's justified because when someone asks "how do you watch fate in order" they are usually already wrong. The most optimal way to get into the Fate series is the Fate stay night visual novel, the original story of Fate, as everything branches from that, both the prequel of fate stay night, fate zero, and the sequel of fate stay night, fate hollow ataraxia. The anime adaptions of fate stay night were largely created as fanservice for fans who had already read the novel, so the anime studios who adapted the content didn't really pay much heed at the time to new incoming fans despite the fate franchises growing popularity and each adaption loses a lot of detail and nuance to it's writing as a result, more like a greatest hits soundtrack. You can largely start with whatever you feel like, but the visual novel itself is required reading to understand the actual context of the rest of fate. If you try to rely on just the anime adaptions there will be tons of critical gaps in context and character.
Anything outside of fate stay night, fate zero, and fate hollow ataraxia are alternate timeline spinoffs of the original story and don't directly have to do with the same overarching plot and characters
Honestly, after Zero and UBW, you can watch whatever you desire from fate. As long as you just keep in mind that it either take place in a different universe or a different timeline, you good.
Here's a sort of breakdown for the flowchart at 0:14. Left column: Everything there falls under Fate Extra, which is a game series set in the early 2030s on the moon. Somewhat Cyberpunk I suppose. Middle Column: From bot to top, Fate/Zero, Fate Stay Night, Fate Hollow Ataraxia. Zero is a prequel kind of. Haven't personally read the VN or even the Fate route anime, but people say that some things are wrong and/or inconsistent with FSN, Saber in particular. You've had enough of FSN explained, and so next is Fate Hollow. It's a sort of sequel to FSN, taking place half a year or so after FSN, and sort of fuses the different routes, but also not really. Right Column: Mostly spin offs in some manner. Fate Kaleid is a Fate Magical Girl show revolving around Illya. Don't know what happened exactly (hasn't been told in story yet), but Illya was born around the time of the 4th Holy Grail War (gonna just refer to it as HGW from here onward), and Iri + Kiri seems to have dismantled the grail, so they're still both alive, Kiri hasn't officially appeared in it atm, and Shirou is still adopted, don't know why. Carnival Phantasm is a goofy spinoff of the Nasuverse (the connected works created by Nasu, such as Fate and Tsukihime) in general. Fate Strange Fake revolves around a HGW set in America, in which magi recreated the ritual, 4th and 5th HGW seem to of still happened though. Writer is same person that writes Buccano and Durarara, seems to not want an anime til it's done, so only LNs atm. Fate Apocrypha diverges during the 3rd HGW since they summoned a Ruler (servant w/o a wish) instead of an Avenger. Leads to a faction HGW, includes Astolfo. In the Box: Fate Prototype... Pretty much is in the name, serves as the basis of FSN. Fate Grand Order is a mobile gacha game, started in I think 2015, is also set in 2015. First HGW happened in 2004, winner was the founder of an organization called Chaldea which the PC joins. You summon a bunch of servants, travelling through time to fix things. Last one isn't Fate, it's another part of the Nasuverse though.
I love how not only you start the video by entering the series with /zero, but also immediately spoil who Saber is granted, /zero does the same thing, so can't really blame you protip though: prequel series are generally not meant to be starting points. You generally want to go with release order, unless you're watching adaptations that have different release order than the source material(which is the case here).
I know you probably have the information you are looking for already but all your points are addressed somewhere or another. -The character you thought wasn't treated to the ending or direction you wanted gets that direction in the Heaven's Feel route and Prisma Illya saga. (I assume this is who you meant) -Saber felt like a side character because everyone in the Zero story was a side character. There is a route centered around her but the Fate community is waiting (and hoping) for a better adaptation of this route to be animated. -Shiro's development with being a hero of justice is tackled in both Heaven's Feel Route and the Prisma Illya saga. (I promise you will enjoy his development in these ones) -The three movies are the same route done as a trilogy, so you start with I, II, and III. These are the Heavens Feel route. They are a bit rushed going from a series to trilogy but were well worth the watch. -Astolfo is in Apocrypha, which is more environmental and character driven. He also pops up in the Extella/Link game but that is a whole beast of its own. I recommend watching the Heavens feel trilogy next followed by Prisma Illya. However, Prisma Illya has some "Issues" that may be hard to get past. It has loli stuff. I promise the story eventually reaches a truly amazing peak but a lot of people cannot get past the "issues." As for the Extra/Extella stuff, I recommend skipping the anime adaptation and playing the game that is being currently being remade. The original was on PSP and the direct sequel was not localized. Finally, Fate/Grand Order can be played/watched at anytime. The anime is very particularly structured. It should be watched as the First Order movie, both Camelot movies, Babylonia series, Solomon movie, and Moonlight Lostroom movie. That is the order. It skips around, however, because the game contains a lot of filler and took quite a while to find its place in its story and world.
I think the casual watching of Fate is not so confusing. Rather, it is the deep lore and massive universe it is a part of that gets crazy. With Zero and UBW under your belt, I think most of the Fate shows are open to you, most will be some variation of the grail war system. One that might be nice to expand your view of the Clocktower and mages is 'Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files'. It follows Waver Velvet, the young Master of Rider from Fate Zero, years after his grail war ended.
I'm assuming the character you were looking forward to seeing was SAKURA. Yeah the reason is that unlimited bladeworks was rins route in the visual novel. The heaven's feel trilogy of movies is Sakura's story, it is the canon sequel to FATE/ZERO. It tells the story of the same holy grail war as unlimited bladeworks only shiro makes different decisions so the war goes A LOT differently. The watch order for the HEAVEN'S FEEL movies is 1.Presage flower 2. Lost butterfly 3. Spring song
So Fate stay night is meant to be watched first Its a Visual novel split into 3 routes fate UBW and HF and watched in this order The issue is the fate route was messed up a little(not bad but spoils the other 2 routes) This is were the meme read the VN comes from because you are meant to start at the fate route The VN is the source material for fate So people put the prequel fate zero before UBW to replace the fate route Which kinda works but kinda doesn't Like in UBW berserkers identity was just kinda revealed casually But thats because it was revealed in the fate route and UBW is built to assume you have seen fate So the reason UBW goes down hill so fast is because it assumes you have seen the fate route Also the fate route is sabers route For watch order Watch FSN 2006 - Now that you have seen UBW and Zero no need to worry about spoilers Not as good because its old but still a solid watch not to mention its one of the stay night routes (Fate) -Heavens feel - the last of the 3 route - apocrypha Edit actually watch 2006 after HF as there is one more spoiler But yh if you are willing to read the VN do that over the animes and watch the animes after
I’ve never read a visual novel before but I was gonna check out the fate visual novel as my first one and then I was planning on checking out the other anime afterwards
Saber is already fleshed out in the Fate route of FSN. Zero's author literally said to go play the Fate route in the Zero volume 3's author's notes cause it would just be rehashing old content. Zero is the last part of the trilogy (Fate SN, Hollow Ataraxia, Zero). Zero references both SN & HA events when people talk to Shirou about the prior war & his dad. They even had to use Irisviel as an intermediary cause the plot point from the prior two games about Saber never talking to Kiritsugu made it difficult to write. FSN forced you to go Fate, UBW, HF in that exact order. The different timelines gave you a differing perspective on each character with different scenarios which completely fleshed them out. Illya was fleshed out in Fate & HF, so it's a waste of screentime for her to be in UBW that long. Saber had a whole route dedicated to her, so UBW didn't have to include her as much. Sakura is almost nonexistent in Fate & UBW, but heavily fleshed out in HF.
Fate as a series has two issues: everything is disconnected, making it hard to find a clear watching order that's both entertaining and spoiler-free, and that everything is canon, so you can't skip the ecchi spin-off, the videogame adaptation spin-off, the alternative reality spin-off, etc. On that note, the cooking slice of life spin-off (Today's menu for the Emiya family) is fantastic and an absolute must-watch after UBW.
1: Prisma Illya is actually non canon because it breaks rules of the universe 2: fate is one of the few series where spoilers don't effect anything, consider that UBW and HF were written after SN, they expect you to have prior knowledge and it helps the experience 3: watch order is meaningless. MEANINGLESS. just jump on board, if you don't understand something a quick wiki search will net you as much entertainment as a whole episode of whatever you were watching 4" Prisma Illya isn't pure echii and actually gets really good. just skip season 2. 5" YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY SKIP THE GAMES AND EXTENDED MEDIA. I hate this notion. you can enjoy fate without consuming ever scrap of it, to say otherwise is ridiculous. enjoy however much you want, if you want more its there.
@@ShadowAraun I say that watch order is pretty important for someone that willing to give time to get into the series. For example you could get spoiled about Sakura as a whole in F/Z when F/HF make it one of the more important plot point. Also the Fate/ Stay Night VN is absolutely important and you can't just ignore it since every Fate franchise ever branches of from that.
Honestly, the Fate fanbase tends to make it more complicated than it actually is. Mostly cause people who're super into Fate tend to just unload literally everything onto people in one big dump. If someone's wanting to get into Fate, just tell them to watch Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks. If they want more Fate after that, then go for Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel movies and Fate/Zero. Then they can get into the spin-offs and mobile games and all that. No, the real deep rabbit hole is when people bring up the parts of the universe/multiverse that aren't actually Fate. Most if not all of the Type Moon properties happen in the same universe. Some it's obvious to see the connection, like Case Files of El Melloi follows the exploits of the Master of Rider in Fate/Zero once he's an adult. Then you get Garden of Sinners and Tsukihime which happen in the same over all setting but aren't tied at all to Fate, and then Carnival Phantasm which is just a comedy with characters from everything... Honestly my recommendation is just consume whatever Type Moon media you want when you want. Cause there's so much that really once you get past the "core" of it, there's not really an order. Except the FGO movies, those have an order to them.
Actualy, there's only one movie about Unlimited Blade Works. It came out in 2010 (Before the series) and was animated by Studio Deen, the same people who did the adaptation of the first Fate Stay Night route in 2006. The 3 movies are actualy about only one route, witch is the Heaven's Feel route, who's much darker than the previous ones. The HF route is also considered as the final route, the last of Fate Stay Night you should watch. This is why it is recommended to have watched the Fate route or Unlimited Blade Works before, since you won't understand the movies if you dont do so.
I will absolutely second what others are saying here about the Heaven's Feel movies, watch them for sure! Most people recommend them for the action, but the character development and darker plot is why I keep getting drawn back to them.
The thing about Stay Night is that it's a story that explores 3 separate routes- each route address an explorable aspect of Shirou in depth, and utilizes a different main heroine in each one: Saber for the Fate route, Rin for the Unlimited Blade Works route, Sakura for best route... I mean Heaven's Feel rote. But yeah, try giving the Heaven's Feel movie trilogy a watch, it will help you give you a far superior perspective of what the main series is about. Side note: Every other Fate project after Zero and Stay Night (being the main series story) is basically its own thing, with the same synopsis with an interesting twist: -Fate/Apocrypha's Holy Grail war is set in teams of 7 vs. 7. -Fate/Extra is a more techno-Holy Grail war on the moon, and instead of mages, you have hackers. The moon is also a super-comuter holy grail. -Fate/Grand Order is a game, where you play as Humanity's final master, collect/meet servants new and old, travel across time and space to fix human history.
Also don't go to the timeline chart, lol. At this point, now that you're basically done the main series, you can pretty much watch anything you want, since every other Fate is its own project that doesn't follow any specific timeline.
Personally I always think of Fate as having 2 major timelines (Fate stay/night+zero and Fate Extra) and the other shows/games are their own separate story. Fate stay/night consists of 3 routes, Saber route which had a sub-par adaptation in 2006, Fate UBW and the Heaven’s feel movies trilogy. If you finish these then everything else will make sense to you. Fate Extra is a video game series with 1 anime adaptation which wasn’t very good, fortunately there will be a remaster for the Extra games called Fate Extra record. Fate Apocrypha is where Astolfo is in, its a completely separate story and the anime is pretty good too. There’s also The Case Files of Lord El-Melloi II which follow Waver (the kid master in Zero) after the holy grail war ended. There is also Fate grand order which is an amazing mobile game, there are 2 major anime adaptations for parts 6 and 7 of the GO story but I recommend playing the game first. There’s more like Fate requiem, Fate prototype, Fate Redline and Fate Strange/Fake but they don’t have an anime yet so if you will have to read them. Edit: There’s also Fate Ataraxia but it only has a visual novel. Kara no Kyoukai and Tsukihime aren’t really Fate but they’re all in the same universe. Kara no Kyoukai has 7 movies amazingly adapted by Ufotable so I would also recommend that.
The monogatari series is honestly more complicated than fate Also let's talk about the hero of justice part. It was a dream that both him and kiritsugu wanted to achieve (a dream he got from him before he died) and one that shirou is obsessed about because of his traumas from surviving the fuyuki fire from the end of Zero Imagine if your earliest memories of your life was walking through a burning inferno with people dying, screaming and some cursing you for not saving them as you walk on top of burned bodies to try and survive while tossing away your memories, morals and all things that made you YOU only to end up as a hollow shell that is just walking aimlessly through that hell This has haunted shirou for years even after he was adopted by kiritsugu as he couldn't go to sleep without having nightmares of that hell and feeling guilty for surviving where many others died, that trauma coupled with kiritsugu's pure joy after saving shirou (who wished he could be as happy as his dad one day) and the hero of justice dream turned the already nice and helpful boy into a self sacrificing idiot that only finds value in his life if it's being used to help others around him even if it kills him There's a scene in UBW that sadly was better in the VN than in the anime. It's the scene where Shirou, Rin and Saber are out to have fun and after a while shirou starts enjoying spending time with them and at that moment he's brain freezes and asks himself a simple question "am I allowed to be happy?" It's very simplified but you get what I mean, he doesn't think he deserves happiness unless it's through helping others. And the best part is that each iteration of shirou are different from each other and how they see the world and how they tackle the ideals of a hero
Have you gotten into the HF trilogy? It was adapted in a way with the expectation that UBW was seen before or you are a VN reader. It develops characters more so your issue with Kirei and Sakura being less important is fixed as they get more screentime. Illya also gets some screentime. All of this comes at the expense of skipping Rin and Archer stuff for example, so UBW will grow on you more because it covers their arcs so that the show can focus on other characters more.
if you like gilgamesh, i hope you get into all the series including the fate grand order babylonia. Thats when gilgamesh character become more interesting than ever. But there's still few steps (babylonia episode 0, first order, camelot) before you watch it. Ofc its better if you finish the fate stay night first (heavens feel and the 2006 which is also good if animation quality wasnt a big issue for you).
really after watching the main series (you probably know it from the other comments) You can watch/ read whatever the hell you want, really doesn't matter. To be honest a lot of fate spin offs feel like well written fan fictions in the best possible way.
@@JCsReviews Warning: Fate/Extra Last Encore is not an anime adaptation of Fate/Extra, but rather a sequel to it. It won't make much sense if you haven't played Extra.
Late, but I'm here. Most likely don't need the watch order anymore, so I'll just recount my own personal experience I too was scared to get into fate and finally just bit the bullet and watched Fate/Zero. I loved it, so I moved onto....the original Fate/Stay Night anime. Yeah, I know people say it's bad, and I'll admit, it doesn't have that great animation and the writing/dialog was a bit iffy at times. "People die when they are killed" is an infamous example. However, it's not the worst show I've ever seen and people tend to forget that before Fate/Zero, everyone loved it and it did kickstart popularity of the series, which despite its flaws does indeed make it a classic. Then I watched UBW and despite its flaws I still loved it. Then I watched the Heaven's Feel movies and absolutely loved those. Practically all the issues I had with it and expands it, while still telling a vastly different story with better world building. Plus it changes rider (the female one) from a nothing "I forgot you existed character" to a genuinely badass character you love to see on screen. So after that I watched the spinoff detailing Waver's life before the events of UBW and after Zero (Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files Rail Zeppelin Grace Note) and I actually liked it. It goes from an action show to a detective drama/thriller that's kind of slow and boring at times, but it does add to Waver's character in a smartly written way. After that, because I didn't feel like reading through 200+ hours of visual novels, I went to the other spinoff. Like you, I was confused, but then I read about the shows (not what was in them, but their development) and I realized....After Heaven's Feel, UBW, and Zero IT DOES NOT F*UCKING MATTER. You watch Fate to see historical figures (and Greek sometimes Irish mythology I guess) kick the sh8t out of each other. Everything after the original 3 routes is all self contained unless you count the Grand Order movies, but they're numbered so it's honestly not that confusing. All in all, I think people make this series way more complicated than it needs to be
@@JCsReviews I think it's mainly because the fate fandom is so obsessed with convincing people what the "correct" watch order is. On one hand, it shows how dedicated the fanbase is, but on the other hand they come off a little too strong. Gigguk made a five minute video titled "Trying to understand the fate franchise" which is both hilarious and disturbingly accurate. I would suggest watching it when you have time if you haven't already
You can pretty much watch Fate Anywhere and at anytime. Given that most Fate's are different continuities. However, if you are only interested in "Fate/Stay Night." (The original visual novel stuff) But the anime adaptations are just one of the 3 main routes of the original Fate Visual Novel, they are as follows: Fate (the original 2006 anime) Unlimited Blade Works (you already watched the anime so this can be crossed off your checklist) Heaven's Feel (the 3 movie adaptation parts) All other Fate adaptation are considered "spin offs" but they are all interesting in their own right.
Shirou is not adapted correctly, moreover, you watched Fate Zero first which is for most people find him annoying since they know Kiritsugu's past story much better than Shirou's rather than the people that watch/read FSN first. I suggest watching Fate/stay night 2006 and Heaven's Feel trilogy next. Yes, that infamous FSN 2006 that most people hated, which I found not that bad. The thing is, you must pay attention to every Shirou's monologue or the reason why he did something that makes you annoyed because every time he did something it must have a reason, albeit it's crazy and nonsense. Heaven's Feel has a big change to Shirou's character from Fate and UBW route and it has many callbacks and similarities from the Fate route, that's why I recommend watching it after FSN 2006. If you are interested in the visual novel, just read it without watching the anime, you'll change your opinion about FSN, trust me. After you read the VN, proceed to watch the anime to know how butchered the adaptation is.
As for the Archer thing... Fate is a multiverse so you kinda just roll with it as the show mentions heroes can be summoned in different points in time. Also, the Counter-Force is something that has been mentioned in the KnK series (the beginning of the Nasuverse) so it is an element of the world that has always been here... just super relevant in UBW. It feels out of place but this is Fate... just roll with it XD
@@JCsReviews In the context of Fate, then yeah the twist makes sense and it is foreshadowed the entire time but having future stuff thrown in a show about summoning people from the past does complicate stuff a bit but not to the point where the show is too convoluted. Pretty much Shirou makes a deal with the counter-force, gets betrayed later, becomes a Guardian and the pendant summons him as Archer. He then sees an alternate version of his younger self, gets disgusted by him, and makes a contract with Medea to sever ties with Rin. His Archer class skill keeps him in the world long enough, fights Shirou, realizes stuff about himself and that is his arc. You kinda just leave it at that and it makes enough sense.
coming from someone who got into fate (and the whole nasu-verse) through carnival phantasm and the og fate stay night by dean productions (the "bad" adaptation) i think you can watch anything you want especially considering you've watched the main 2 anime adaptations people recommend. But honestly Carnival phantasm may give you good laugh and i think every fate fan should check it out. It was great without context but is just amazing with it. Plus the whole series is uploaded on youtube. before i end this off, it is a cross over with another series tsukihime to explain characters you wont recognise coming from fate. ~enjoy
Unlimited Blade Works is indeed the second route you take. So if things seemed to weirdly cut off with certain characters? That's because they were lol Each route is so drastically different from one another, and while one seemed to be abysmally unimportant in one (Rider in UBW) becomes a main focus for another (RIDER IN HEAVEN'S FEEL ROUTE) Honestly, it's hard for newcomers to fully appreciate UBW because it's literally the 'off the beaten path' alternate route to the main Saber Fate route. Pretty much it exists for those who read the Visual Novel. But even so, it did alright to maintain itself as a self contained story. But no one can blame you for still seeing it as a bit jarring, as this is essentially an incomplete piece of media. But I'm glad you still enjoyed it enough to get invested. (Lord knows even Saber by the end of UBW still seems like an oddly present side character to you, haha)
I’ve been hearing that ubw is better if you watched the first route first but I still enjoyed it even without seeing the first route although I do plan on checking out the other routes and maybe then I’ll appreciate ubw more
People make Fate needlessly complex. The best order is the simplest one: FSN 2006 FSN Unlimited Blade Works FSN Heaven's Feel FS Zero Some people will tell you not to watch 2006, but despite it being mediocre, I think it is essential in appreciating the rest of Fate. I also wouldn't watch Zero first because it spoils more of all the other Fate shows combined and is really designed to be watched by someone who is already familiar with FSN.
@@JCsReviews SPOILERS BELOW FOR OTHER COMMENT READERS!! It's a shame you saw Fate Zero first because knowing Sabers identity, or that Rin and Sakura were sisters were really big reveals. Even Archers identity having clues dropped in from 2006 was a big twist. I still recommend rewatching in that above order, because it might make you appreciate stuff more and catch on things that you might've missed initially. As for the other Fate series, they're all just spin offs and alternate timelines, so you can watch in whatever order you want once you've watched FSN. I personally recommend Fate Grand Order.
@@TheInfiniteDraw yeah if I knew that I would have watched fate stay night first but it’s too late now. And I’ll definitely check out grand order next when I get the chance
@@JCsReviews No don't watch 2006. It's worse than mediocre and should simply be ignored. You said you were interested in the VN for that route so do that instead.
The reason Visual Novel readers tell not to watch Deen/Stay Night because they added in elements from Unlimited Blade Works and Heavens Feel which weren't needed and spoiled the other 2 routes. I personally liked the Archer versus Berserker fight. It wasn't in the VN but I had wondered how he fared against Berserker.
after you finish unlimited blade works, you should watch heavens feel the 3 movies. after you finish the main timeline, which is the ones i mentioned. then you can watch any spinoff at any order you want. theyre all self contained stories that dont have an important link to one another. i recommend watching fate/grand order babylonia, so youll see the extent of gilgamesh’s character writing, since they add more depth to him and also add some real life mythology into it
Hey man! Here’s another guy wanting to help you to get into Fate. So I will first make a list of what every Fate series is about and where it happens in the timeline. Then what you should or want to watch next! Let’s begin by the beginning: Fate/Stay Night. A visual novel from 2004 with 3 different routes. These routes are: Stay Night - Saber’s route Unlimited Blade Works - Rin’s route Heavens Feel - Sakura route Basically every different route has a different love interest for Shirou and are different ways the Holy Grail War could have happened. See them as 3 different ways to tell 1 story. Got that? Alright! (Note: All 3 routes are separate from each other as far as I know, BUT all of them connect back to Fate/Zero) MAIN TIMELINE/SERIES: Fate/Zero - Prequel for Fate/Stay Night (It’s canon for all 3 routes) Fate/Stay Night (Saber Route) - First Route with Saber. Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works - Second Route with Rin. Fate Stay Night Heavens Feel - Third Route with Sakura. The Case files of Lord El-Mellio II: Waver becomes Sherlock Holmes. SPIN-OFFS: Fate/Apocrypha - 14 Servants vs 14 servants with Astolfo. Fate/Extra Last Encore - What the f*ck is going on? (There is no good way do describe this series… I guess it’s just another really weird Holy Grail war?) Fate/Prisma Ilya - Magical girl spin off with Ilya. Fate/Grand Order - It’s just the Fate multiverse with different servants from all series including a time travel plot. It’s sort of like a GRAND collab between all FATEs? Carnival Phantasm: best thing ever made. Today on The Emiya Menu: slice of life cook show I guess. Now what you should watch: I recommend watching the Heavens Feel movies next. This makes the most sense because you have almost watch every Main Fate series. It’s next up in the Fate/Stay Night chart. There are 3 movies and the animation is the best is ever been. It’s the most weirdest and bizarre out of all the main fate series and I would describe it as: “Fate/Stay Night UBW but it’s on drugs and where going to Disneyworld because WHY TF NOT” Spoiler: these movies are weird, but really good. After that watch The Case files of Lord El Mellio II. It’s about Waver going detective mode and solving problems. It expands the world budding and all the different magic systems. In the Fate/Series in focuses on the servants but here we focus on the world where all these wars take place in. The music is really good by the way! Also, there will be guest characters from other series in this one, but they don’t share a timeline. After you’ve watched everything it will be a nice Easter egg. Fate/Apocrypha is also really cool! It’s the normal holy grail war but into overdrive, 14 servants vs 14 servants. 2 teams fighting each other. Just like every other fate it’s get crazy and of course best boy Astolfo is there. The MC is a bit weak in my opinion, but there is some really good stuff in the here. There will also be a new servant class introduced that I think you will like. The Noble Phantasms get crazy in this one and it’s definitely worth watching. Also Astolfo. If you want you could watch the Fate/Extra Last Encore anime. It’s a unique take on the normal holy grail war concept but it’s confusing. It does have some really cool ideas but for me this one is hit or miss. I recommend watching this one last or after all the other one’s because you need to have a good understanding about the Fate concept and it’s characters for this one. Otherwise, it’s going to be really confusing. If you have nothing to do: give this one a watch. But it’s not really important. I haven’t watched the Fate/Grand order movies. The first one is really weak but I have played a bit of the mobile game. For the magical girl spin-off: no clue what’s the deal with that. I think Nasu (the guy who writes all this fate drugs) was high or something. It has Ilya kissing other loli’s and some weird servant stuff as always. Carnival Phantasm is just party with the fate series and Typemoon’s (the guys who made the original 2004 visual novel) other works like Tsukihime. It’s just a lot of fun! And Today on the Emiya menu is just watching everyone chill and have a good time with cooking. In summery: watch whatever you want. Fate is a mess of different timeline’s, series and so much more. I haven’t even gotten into the other series that aren’t animated or the other spin offs. And don’t get me started about all the different versions of Saber and the other servants. You thought this was a bit confusing? WELL JOKES ON YOU! Everything above is all part of an even BIGGER universe with even MORE franchises called the Nasuverse. So this guy called Gikkuk on TH-cam has a really good video explaining everything what you need to know while being funny. I highly recommend watching it! So that was that. Just spend half an hour writing this, if you have any questions, please let me know! I’m not the biggest Fate fan out there so I could have missed something. Idk man. But I hope this helped you!
The thing about fate is that the writter, Nasu, is in all ways that matter, a triller and mystery writter author with the twist of magic. He had the dream of being a novel writter but was demoralized with the rise of manga, since their images conveied far more dinamicaly their meaning but after reading certain crime novel he discovered that certain elements could be only conveied by this medium so it atract all sort of freaks (like myself) that get off by unraveling the basic surface level narrative. The problem of the fate fandom is that the reputation they created about this series robes people of the experience of untangling fate by oneself. That is why people should feel free to experience it by themselves in whatever order they like. If they are a fellow freak they will eventualy walk themselves here but there is no problem with being a basic waifu collector that is here for the nudity, this is what pay Nasu's bills after all.
If you truly want to get the full Stay Night experience, the VN Realta Nua (Ultimate Edition) is a great way to do it since it goes more in depth into the characters and flows much better than the different adaptations. Still, I'm pretty sure you would've enjoyed UBW's 2nd half if you had at least experienced Fate (Saber's) Route in one way or another, even if the 2006 anime is not that good of an adaptatiosn it still establishes the bases for the story's setting and the characters, and is easier to get track about what the conflict was all about in UBW since this is not a sequel to Zero and rather a "thematic continuation" to Fate Route, so it can feel vague or repretittive when you don't have good enough base to what is responding to. After the "Fuyuki War" Storyline (Stay Night and it's 3 Routes, Zero and Hollow Ataraxia) you can nearly watch any other Fate entry with no problems at all
For me the only two rules when watching fate is: 1. start with either ubw or zero since they explain the basics of fate 2. only watch the heavens feel movies after watching ubw since it is so amazing BECAUSE you've seen what shirou strives for and how important it is for him Other than that just watch whatever Most people have a problem with prisma illya (for a good reason) but it also has some amazing parts so if you can look past the weird stuff it can be worth it, but if you can't, watching the oath under snow movie (prequel to prisma illya) is worth it even if you don't watch the series
Great video. It's always fun to see someone get into the Fate franchise. As for what I recomend watching next, I have a couple of suggestions. If you want more development for Saber, than you should watch the 2006 adaptation of Stay Night which is often referred to as DEEN Stay Night in reference to the studio that adapted it. A lot of people really like to criticize the 2006 adaptation as being a bad adaptation, and while I certainly think it has it's flaws, I think it's a decent adaptation over all and it get's to much hate imo. The main problem with the 2006 Fate adaptation is that while it primarily adapts the Saber route, it tries to tie in information from the other routes as well, and as a result, it becomes convoluted at times. There's also the fact that the animation is kind of dated looking, though that's to be expected from an anime 15 years old. For it's time the animation was decent. Despite it's missteps, the 2006 anime gets the important stuff, such as Saber's character development, right for the most part. Also, there's the fact that it's the only adaptation of Saber's route currently so if you want more Saber it's your only option. If nothing else I can guarente that the music for 2006 is some the best, if not the best, that the Fate series has to offer. Also, be aware that if you watch it subbed, there are a lot of iffy translation out there. That also contributed to some of the critacisims due to things not being translated well. It's how we got gems like "People die when they are killed." Lastly, if you want to watch what Astolfo is from, that's Fate Apochrapha . All you need to know about Apocrypha is that it takes place in an alternate timeline to Stay Night. Many things are the same but a lot is different as well. I never finished Apocrypha myself so I can't really speak to it's quality, but I remember enjoying what I watched for what it's worth. Any way, sorry if this was to much info. Hope it helps!
I recommend watching Fate/Apocrypha after FSN Heaven's Feel Trilogy and if you want to watch Fate/Grand Order... I think you should play the game because in the anime there are some parts that are omitted for now in the anime maybe you should also watch Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of Sinners Series, it's good the story timeline was 2>4>3>1>5-8 , and maybe tsukihime/melty blood too... but it's an old anime if you want the hd version maybe you can play the remake version
I watched fate like a researcher. I went all over the place until everything clicked together. You're better off thinking they're all separate from each other until it clicks to you how it fits in the bigger picture.
In my opinion the 2006 Fate stay night anime is ok, not great, not bad but ok. it was the show that got me into the Franchise to begin with back in the day. in comparing it to the newer one of course it not going to hold up. if you can look past it's problems, it does the Fate route(1st route) ok. when it was made Fate was not a big franchise at the time so they didn't know it would explode like it did. They tried to cram bits of the other two routes into the 1st because they didn't think they would get the chance to use all the characters. Lets face it, each route focuses on different characters while pushing off or killing the other to get them out of the way. SPOILERS: EX( Fate route: Caster appears then dies, UBW: rider killed off screen HF: lancer, caster, assassin ). The slow pacing that builds suspense back it the day was great, but with modern impatience it is slow.
So the Heaven Feel movies are all connected but the third is not out on disc yet. So as a follow up to Fate Zero, I recommend watching Case Files which actually focuses on Waver (Riders master) from Zero, a few years after the events of Zero. Fate Apocrypha is where you can find Astolfo and has pretty much nothing to do with the main Fate story line. Imagine it like a multiverse and it makes things easier. Fate Grand Order anime is based on the mobile game and they animate one of the best later arcs from the game from the story, that being Babylonia. I really enjoy Babylonia, I thought the anime is masterful but you might be confused as it has almost nothing to do with Zero and UBW. Kalied is lolicon...
Me: about to say that because saber appeared in melty blood and also because of all the fate characters that appeared in carnival phatasm, means that tsukihime and kagetsu tohnya is connected to fate, and because in fate kaleid illya, one of the aoko sisters appeared means that it is also connected to tsukihime, melty blood, kara no kyoukai and mahotsukai no yoru. Also the Aoko sisters seems to appear in almost every main franchise of Nasu.
My watch order for anime only Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (Ufotable, don't watch the movie version made by Deen) Fate/Stay Night Heavens Feel Fate/Stay Night (Deen, it's a bad adaptation because it adds scenes from UBW and HF which weren't needed, but the music is good.) Fate/Zero (Zero is meant to be watched after Heaven's Feel). After that watch the other series however u want. I also recommend Fate/Kaleid Oath Under Snow Movie. Chronologically u should watch it after Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 3rei!, but since it's a prequel u can watch it first but the first couple of season will be spoiled.
Fate/Apocrypha has Astolfo-chan. You should definitely watch the three Heavens Feel movies next, then the 2006 adaptation of the Fate route (Fate/Stay Night by studio deen)
I just got into fate too! It’s not that bad. It’s really enjoyable, but I am hesitant about heaven’s feel. There are so many sad endings in the nasu-verse that watching the “worst possible scenario” makes me nervous. Once I do I’m going to read the original visual novel. I hope to see saber and shirou meet up again in the original epilogue from what I heard. I really wish they reanimated fate/stay night. There is alot more then it’s letting on with shirou, but the anime doesn’t cover it properly because it doesn’t show his thoughts. The order is fate zero Fate/stay night Fate/stay night: unlimited blade works Fate/stay night: Heaven’s feel Fate/stay night was originally animated differently and is the one you have to see first. I hope it gets a proper reboot in the future with the full story and modern day animation. Unlimited blade works was re-adapted twice and is the second route. So there is the VN, the first adaptation and the UFOtable one you showed on screen. The problem is that you skipped right to unlimited blade works They are all supposed to be different timelines that slowly explain more and more. Everything else is just spin offs. If you watch any of those, please watch carnival phantasm. It’s free on TH-cam.
@@JCsReviews If you watched Carnival Phantasm after JUST Unlimited Blade Works, you would only have like 20% of the context. Carnival Phantasm references all the VN's routes, and also has a large amount of it dedicated to parody of Tsukihime, another Visual novel by Type-Moon (the first one, actually). Carnival Phantasm also references Fate/hollow ataraxia and Melty Blood. so it'd be best to watch Carnival Phantasm after reading at least both Fate/Stay night and Tsukihime. though it's best not to view that as a strict prerequisite. It's just that the show is 90% in-jokes. Carnivel Phantasm is for longtime fans that're familiar with many of Type Moon's works. So it's better to experience them all beforehand, yknow? That way you can get the most out of it.
the main reason why saber in fate zero feels like that its mainly cuz it was written by a different author and cuz zero doesnt really specifically has a main character. saber and kiritsugu get more screen time so i guess you can call them the main leads but still.
Astolfo is in Fate/apocrypha And if you want to see Waver (riders master) he has his own show in Lord El melloi II Spoilers If you meant someone who had buildup meaning angra mainyu or the holy grail then he's on Fate stay night heavens feel trilogy if not him and its kirei then hes inntge movies aswell
Ok I’ll check out Apocrypha. I had no idea that Waver had his own show so I’ll check that out too! Also the character that I meant was Illya, she’s was built up from the beginning of UBW but nothing really happened with her, from what I’ve heard she gets more development in the visual novel but not really in any of the anime
@@JCsReviews illya has a magical spin off and the watch order is just the fate/kaleid oath under snow to understand the other girl then the show fate/kaleid illya prisma about season 2 it gets dark also she has a bigger roll in fate heavens feel(sakura ending) and in fate stay night(sabers ending) but the animation is from studio deen
I know what you mean. It felt like Kingdom Hearts in a way, but when you get into it its not that complicated. Its basicly Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night. Everything else are just spin offs. All you need to know is that Stay Night has those 3 different routes but other than that you are golden. Ill explain the routes here. Im sure some ppl have already done this but oh well. Fate route: the 2006 Fate/Stay Night anime goes through what happens in this route. Its more about Saber and her relationship with Shirou. Then there is Unlimited Blade Works route and you already watched anime about it. Its more about Rin and Archer. And then there is Heavens Feel route. Here they decided to split Heavens Feel route into three movies because it pretty much has most lore Stay Night has. And Heavens Feel is about Sakura.
I recommend watching the 2006 Fate/Stay Night. It's nowhere near as good as Fate/Zero or Unlimited Blade Works. But it's the closest thing to an anime adaptation of the Fate route (Saber's route). And the Heaven's Feel trilogy is really good. If you watch the Heaven's Feel trilogy, prepare yourself. No major spoilers, but the Heaven's Feel route is the DARKEST of all three routes. Just be prepared. And for fun, after all this, watch Carnival Phantasm (the original). It's hilarious!!
everything else in the fate series (apart from the fate/stay night movies like the heavens feel trilogy) takes place in an alternate timeline or universe where something is changed but before you watch any of those you should watch the heavens feel movies (different route of the visual novel)
The way I got into fate is by watching zero, then unlimited blade works, then extra, then carnival phantasm, and then what ever the hell I want. edit: you can find Astolfo can be found in anime fate aprophyca and the game grand order if your lucky enough to pull HIM like me.
Rider calls himself iskandar! Which is what persians called Alexander the great! And the ultimate bad guy's name is angramanyu?! Which he was the grand father to the greatest king ever lived
So if you want to watch Astolfo that would be fate apochrphya, however I would recommend Fate Grand Order, watch fate grand order First order to get the set up, but it should be noted that Fate grand Order absolute demonic front is set a while after the events of First order (basically first order was the intro world of the orginal FGO mobile games story and absolute demonic front is the 7th and final world , thing is outside of the 6th and 7th world not a lot of note actually happens in regards to storytelling it was mostly “go here find magic macguffin proceed to next world” the 6th world was adapted into 2 movies (one of which is still waiting on a blue ray release) and after that they have a movie about the final battle with the big bad end game boss as your team attacks his base
Heaven's Feel is my favorite. Sakura is my far the best Heroine of the 3(IMO) . I would say its worth watching Heavens Feel. Fate Apocropha on Netflix has the best boy...
Fate Grand Order(FGO) is my favorite fate series. It surpasses the normal holy grail wars and was amazing. The watch order is slightly complicated: Essentially the game divided the campaign into roughly 9 parts. Some of the earlier ones were not very interesting and hence are probably never getting an anime adaptation. The first part is called: Fate Grand Order: First Order. The next 5 parts are not getting an anime adaptation. The remaining 3 parts are all getting an anime/movie. The reason for these getting an adaptation is cz the storytelling got good. I will address the issue of what to do about the story you'll be missing of the 5 parts which are not getting adapted. After FGO: First Order you have. Fate Grand Order: Singularity Camelot which is 2 movies in order: FGO: Divine Realm of Camelot FGO: Wandering Realm of Camelot These don't need any references to the past parts and will be understandable and followable. After this, you have my favorite one: FGO: Singularity Babylon It's an anime with 22 episodes. Starting with ep 0 which will show you somewhat about the 5 parts never adapted and the rest of the show will occasionally fill in more scenes from the others parts. After Babylon is the final Part. Fate Grand Order: Solomon which is a movie that ends the show. Recommended watch order. Fate Grand Order: First Order Fate Grand Order: Babylon ep 0 ((ONLY!!)) Fate Grand Order: Camelot Fate Grand Order: Babylon (ep: 1 - 21) Fate Grand Order: Solomon
Guys dont get complicated just watch fate/stay night .The first one ignore the VN expert they will make you dizzy . You dont need to watch Fate Zero . Fate/stay night tell you everything important about zero and is the first one you need to watch thats all.
astolfo appeared in Fate/Apocrypha and u don't need to worry about watch order or anything when it comes to Fate/Apocrypha, u can just jump right into it
Oh yeah this will make it easier for you: Think of Fate/Zero as a prequel of Fate/Stay Night not Fate/Stay Night being a sequel to Zero Also here's more content: Watch the Heaven's Feel trilogy next then here are more options Fate/Apocrypha which has Astolfo Fate/Kalied Liner Oath Under Snow which is basically a 4th route to Stay Night but isn't at the same time Fate/Stay Night (2006): If you want Astolfo The Garden of Sinners/Kara No Kyouki: Not directly related to Fate but is the same universe Non-Anime Recommendations: My personal favorite: Fate/type Redline (completely split apart from the other series it's basically it's own thing) Fate/Strange Fake: A holy grail war in America which happens after Stay Night (and has Gilgamesh since you made it clear you like Gilgamesh) Fate/Hollow Ataraxia: Which is a direct sequel to Stay Night (Visual Novel, not a specific route) Tsukihime: Same situation as Kara No Kyouki Fate/Extra Series If you liked Caster from Fate/Extra then Fate/Extra CCC Foxtail is the manga that specifically is revolving around the Protagonist and Caster Fate/Extra CCC Fate/Extella Fate/Extella Link (Not released yet BTW) Fate/Extra Record which is the remake of Fate/Extra Fate/Grand Order and its TV series (This is if you truly are into Fate amd want to become one of us)
As for what to watch after the heavens feel movies, it is apocrypha which is astolfo's anime as well. then prisma illya which is a spin off where illya is a magical girl (XD) warning that has lesbian loli's in it but I don't think it detracts from the story. Then play fate extra(which has a remake being made for modern graphics) and fate extra ccc and the extella sequels whichchange from RPG to musou(dynasty warriorsesque gameplay) . then fate go the mobile gacha(great if really long story) which also has anime adaptations of some of the story. After that read fate/requiem(it might get an anime), fate/strange fake(holy grail war in America written by the baccano mangaka) and final current fate media fate/red out or redline (I forget which but it's Nazi's in Japan holy grail war which is written by the demon slayer mangaka if I remember correctly) I would then start getting into the other kinoku Nasu works tsukihime (which recently had a rework) Kara no kyoukai, watch mahoutsukai no yoru a side character from fate extra is a main character in Kara no kyoukai is in this as well, she pops up all over the nasuverse. And finally either play kagetsu tohya the tsukihime sequel visual novel only I'm afraid it's optional so if you don't like time loops just skip it. And finally you have melty blood (tsukihime fighting game) and the anime carnival phantasm and it's sequels grand phantasm these are really optional but funny. They are a series where all the type moon characters in the nasuverse cross over and meet for comedy.
JC: "Hey guys I like this fate stuff what should I watch next?" the fate fanbase: "I am going to explain every plot point of every route so thoroughly..."
The reason they didn't gave saber too much characters is because Fate/Zero is a prequel that was writen before Fate/Stay Night, and saber has most of her character in the first route of the game, so they couldn't develop her too much
All I've gotta say as a starter; You want your hand held for understanding who is fighting and the overall schematics of HOW the series' bones work, watch Zero+Stay Night-Unlimited Blade/Reworks. Those were the easiest to follow, AND tell the first time viewer about how the universe will generally operate. 'But what about all the other Fa-' I'm gonna stop and tell you this, MULTIVERSE THEORY. Anything that says 'Stay Night' is an alternate time line where you choose as the viewer that feels right to you on the ending. Stay Night is 'pick your own ending' in the Fate series. Apocalypse is fast pace, larger scale, Alt universe to Stay Night. Grand/First Order is time travel+waifu collecting. Yes there is a mobile game in sub only, so go crazy sub fans. Extra/Last Encore is the sequel to its own game, Extra. Alt universe where humanity and Earth are gone, and EVRYONE is literally data. So, waifu Tron. Khalid is loli Stay Night alt universe. Do NOT watch with parents. No, seriously. Shake the FBI. There you go, pick whichever you guys care to start with. Hardly any dubs, so sub people will have a blast.
I watched heaven's feel and I like it a lot. I think the first stay night is the best one annd... well I hate apocrypha and extra so much. Grand order babylonia is pretty cool, but maybe watch the grand order movie, one that takes place in fuyuki, to get a better understanding of everything going on. And strange fake is the best fate thing out there
i suggest watching Heaven's Feel movie 1, 2 then 3 for more Stay Night story. and i suggest Fate/Apocrypha if you feel like watching other fate content that doesnt revolve around any of the characters you are familiar with
You need to Wacth the one of Deen first, Zero, UBW, HF later if you want se other line watch Oath under the snow, then try the rest, if you like waver he has a el meloi cases files
I recommend to watch apocrypha but after try to play the mobile game grand order and catch up to the story to watch the movies coming up and the anime Babylon
I'll watch the anime: Fate stay/night (2006). By logic, The earliest one should have the clearest explanation. So, Basic knowledge like what servants and noble Phantasms are(since I never read or played anything realted to fate yet during that time) Then I just watch the others like UBW and Heaven's feel since those are alternate timelines. Then FGO because it seems like that one is a different timeline entirely including the protag not being Shirou. Then Apocrypta or Encore since I'm not interested to them as much as FGO.(They're completely different timelines too right?) I'll watch carnivals(Phantasm and Grand carnival) and the other shit when I feel like it because most of it looks like it's just pure randomness.
So to sum it up, I'll watch anything that has a proper story to it first and watch the randomness in-between them. I know I missed some of the other different timelines but whatever. do you expect me to name every single one?
I watched fate and story isn't great, just fights are good, also rider is Alexander the great, assassin is hassan sabbah, all characters are great historical/mythological heroes😍 and king arthuria's armor and outfit is ridiculous, with her puffed dress and cone gauntlet
The reason saber isn't given more "character" is because she is supposed to be the heroine of 1 of the 3 stay night timelines (unlimited blade works is the second timeline which has rin as the heroine) the problem is it doesn't have a good adaptation
The third timeline though has a movie trilogy adaptation you can watch
Oh ok, I’ll be sure to check out the movie and I’m planning on reading the visual novel for the Saber timeline
@@JCsReviews honestly read the vn or manga for the heavens feel too because the movies are awesome and top tier but the movies don't really do alot of explaining of why things happen the way the happen but you should still watch the movie whether before or after the vn/manga is up too you
@@JCsReviews If you’re gonna read it for the saber route then you might as well go all the way, it’s the best way to experience fate stay night.
@@alsosprachzarathustra4756 100% agreed, there a lot of details and narrative beats that are missing or are different from the anime's
Actually, Rin is arguably the heroine of all three routes. It's just that each route is a different love interest for Shirou. After all, you can't say Sakura is the heroine of HF.
When you know all about fate + read some historical stories about characters.
So if you want my recommended order for Fate, here it is:
Fate/Stay Night (Visual novel) > Fate/Zero anime/novel > Fate/Hollow Ataraxia (Visual novel)
The Fate/SN anime are just supplemental material/fanservice. and the various spinoff's are completely seperate stories that share a few concepts. everything beyond FSN, FZ, and FHA is pretty much just optional. and can be consumed or ignored entirely at your own discretion.
@@BradleytheDavis Yeah I'll keep that in mind and definitely give it a shot
Hand's down the best comment! You explained pretty much everything and in a very articulate way! I was about to write a paragraph myself but thank God I saw your comment! You saved my time cuz there is no way i could of managed to explain it better than that especially the saber part since a lot of anime only people don't know much about her and that she actually has a route of her own!
@@Heavens_dor Indeed, you might just recognize that Shinobu pfp next time on another video and anticipate a good comment.
It's more of the darker parts of the series but that's to come when all the characters don't hold back'
With Fate/Stay Night it shows Shirou , Rin and Sakura and their life after Fate Zero as they are all victims from Fate/Zero which all of them having their own route, Saber being the "Stay Night" route , Rin being the "Unlimited Blade Works" route and Sakura being the "Heavens Feel" route.
Also I will definitely be checking out fate Apocrypha when I get the chance and I appreciate the watch order for grand order because I haven’t seen anyone mention that series yet so I was wondering how to watch it
short and simple huh lmao
@@JCsReviews also there is lord El melloi case files anime it's a story about rider master from fate zero after the event in the fate zero anime it's less focused on holy grail wars and more focused on modern mage society and kinda like detective anime
Personally I want to know what do you think about fate grand order anime adaptation since you are new to the fate series because I want to know if that anime makes sense for someone who never played fate grand order and is it a good anime for a newbie fate fans
Yes Saber was not a main characer in Fate/Zero or in Fate/UBW. Fate the original game had 3 routes with 3 heroines Saber in fate route, Rin in Unlimitted Blade works route and Sakura in Heaven's feel route.
Oh ok that makes sense
Astolfo is from Fate/Apocrypha
Alright, onto the others!
Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel is another route after Zero, and it has the most insane twists ever, can't spoil who's secrets been kept, watch it and see, it's great!
First: Presage Flower
Second: Lost Butterfly
And Third: Spring Song
Then you can watch whatever you want.
Oh ok I’ll check out Apocrypha once I get through those other Fate series. And thanks for the help with the watch order
Zero already spoils all the Heaven's Feel twists. Which is why you don't watch Zero first.
@@TheInfiniteDraw not ALL just two pretty much
@@TheInfiniteDraw What? How so? I don't see how Zero could ever effect Heaven's Feel twists.
Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files
If you want to see another version of Shirou, Rin, Sakura etc., but with a darker development and a totally different ending... The movies of Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel
If you want to expand your understanding of the war for the holy grail and the servants... Fate/Apocrypha
Ok thanks I’ll probably check those all out
And if you wanna time travel, there is Fate Grand Order
The best way to get into Fate series will always be reading the visual novel.
I couldnt find the proper watch order so I had my own ways
I instead watch it in release order
I love how not only you start the video by entering the series with /zero, but also immediately spoil who Saber is
granted, /zero does the same thing, so can't really blame you
protip though: prequel series are generally not meant to be starting points.
(I assume this is who you meant)
-Saber felt like a side character because everyone in the Zero story was a side character. There is a route centered around her but the Fate community is waiting (and hoping) for a better adaptation of this route to be animated.
-Shiro's development with being a hero of justice is tackled in both Heaven's Feel Route and the Prisma Illya saga. (I promise you will enjoy his development in these ones)
-The three movies are the same route done as a trilogy, so you start with I, II, and III.
Spring song
So Fate stay night is meant to be watched first
Its a Visual novel split into 3 routes fate UBW and HF and watched in this order
The issue is the fate route was messed up a little(not bad but spoils the other 2 routes)
This is were the meme read the VN comes from because you are meant to start at the fate route
The VN is the source material for fate
So people put the prequel fate zero before UBW to replace the fate route
Which kinda works but kinda doesn't
Like in UBW berserkers identity was just kinda revealed casually
But thats because it was revealed in the fate route and UBW is built to assume you have seen fate
So the reason UBW goes down hill so fast is because it assumes you have seen the fate route
Also the fate route is sabers route
For watch order
Watch
FSN 2006 - Now that you have seen UBW and Zero no need to worry about spoilers
Not as good because its old but still a solid watch
not to mention its one of the stay night routes (Fate)
-Heavens feel - the last of the 3 route
- apocrypha
Edit
actually watch 2006 after HF as there is one more spoiler
But yh if you are willing to read the VN do that over the animes
and watch the animes after
By the way if you like Visual novels I would reccomend that over the animes
and watch the animes after
I’ve never read a visual novel before but I was gonna check out the fate visual novel as my first one and then I was planning on checking out the other anime afterwards
I'd suggest going to Fate Apocrypha next cause it references old characters and also introduces some pretty cool concepts
1: Prisma Illya is actually non canon because it breaks rules of the universe
2: fate is one of the few series where spoilers don't effect anything, consider that UBW and HF were written after SN, they expect you to have prior knowledge and it helps the experience
3: watch order is meaningless. MEANINGLESS. just jump on board, if you don't understand something a quick wiki search will net you as much entertainment as a whole episode of whatever you were watching
4" Prisma Illya isn't pure echii and actually gets really good. just skip season 2.
Yeah I’ve been hearing that I was wrong about the 3 movies adapting different routes and then just being one route but I’ll check them out soon
I will absolutely second what others are saying here about the Heaven's Feel movies, watch them for sure! Most people recommend them for the action, but the character development and darker plot is why I keep getting drawn back to them.
The thing about Stay Night is that it's a story that explores 3 separate routes- each route address an explorable aspect of Shirou in depth, and utilizes a different main heroine in each one:
Saber for the Fate route,
Rin for the Unlimited Blade Works route,
Sakura for best route... I mean Heaven's Feel rote.
But yeah, try giving the Heaven's Feel movie trilogy a watch, it will help you give you a far superior perspective of what the main series is about.
Side note: Every other Fate project after Zero and Stay Night (being the main series story) is basically its own thing, with the same synopsis with an interesting twist:
-Fate/Apocrypha's Holy Grail war is set in teams of 7 vs.
Astolfo is from Fate/Apocrypha, so by all means, enjoy it and let us know what you think. It has its ups and downs, but it really is enjoyable.
The monogatari series is honestly more complicated than fate
Also let's talk about the hero of justice part. It was a dream that both him and kiritsugu wanted to achieve (a dream he got from him before he died) and one that shirou is obsessed about because of his traumas from surviving the fuyuki fire from the end of Zero
Imagine if your earliest memories of your life was walking through a burning inferno with people dying, screaming and some cursing you for not saving them as you walk on top of burned bodies to try and survive while tossing away your memories, morals and all things that made you YOU only to end up as a hollow shell that is just walking aimlessly through that hell
This has haunted shirou for years even after he was adopted by kiritsugu as he couldn't go to sleep without having nightmares of that hell and feeling guilty for surviving where many others died, that trauma coupled with kiritsugu's pure joy after saving shirou (who wished he could be as happy as his dad one day) and the hero of justice dream turned the already nice and helpful boy into a self sacrificing idiot that only finds value in his life if it's being used to help others around him even if it kills him
There's a scene in UBW that sadly was better in the VN than in the anime.
I haven’t yet and I haven’t read the visual novel but I plan on doing both so I can see what they do with all the other characters there
@@JCsReviews fair enough
if you like gilgamesh, i hope you get into all the series including the fate grand order babylonia.
🤩🤩🤩love the vid!
Thank you!
I only watched “stay a night” and “encore” I thought they where both cool great vid bro 💯💯💯
Thanks man and I haven’t seen encore but I’m glad you enjoyed stay night
@@JCsReviews Warning: Fate/Extra Last Encore is not an anime adaptation of Fate/Extra, but rather a sequel to it. It won't make much sense if you haven't played Extra.
@@JCsReviews You don't really need to play Extra before Last Encore a lot of it is weird and very loosely connected compared to Extra anyway.
Late, but I'm here. Most likely don't need the watch order anymore, so I'll just recount my own personal experience
I too was scared to get into fate and finally just bit the bullet and watched Fate/Zero.
All in all, I think people make this series way more complicated than it needs to be
I agree, so far the series is not as confusing as it was made out to be
@@JCsReviews I think it's mainly because the fate fandom is so obsessed with convincing people what the "correct" watch order is.
However, if you are only interested in "Fate/Stay Night." (The original visual novel stuff) But the anime adaptations are just one of the 3 main routes of the original Fate Visual Novel, they are as follows:
Fate (the original 2006 anime)
Unlimited Blade Works (you already watched the anime so this can be crossed off your checklist)
Heaven's Feel (the 3 movie adaptation parts)
All other Fate adaptation are considered "spin offs" but they are all interesting in their own right.
Yeah I am planning on reading the visual novel but I’ll probably check out the anime and movie after that
As for the Archer thing...
Maybe I would have liked it more if I just rolled with it lol
The best order is the simplest one:
FSN 2006
FSN Unlimited Blade Works
FSN Heaven's Feel
FS Zero
Some people will tell you not to watch 2006, but despite it being mediocre, I think it is essential in appreciating the rest of Fate. I also wouldn't watch Zero first because it spoils more of all the other Fate shows combined and is really designed to be watched by someone who is already familiar with FSN.
Oh ok well it’s too late for me to watch it in that order lol but I’ll check out the other ones anyways
@@JCsReviews
SPOILERS BELOW FOR OTHER COMMENT READERS!!
It wasn't in the VN but I had wondered how he fared against Berserker.
after you finish unlimited blade works, you should watch heavens feel the 3 movies. after you finish the main timeline, which is the ones i mentioned. then you can watch any spinoff at any order you want. theyre all self contained stories that dont have an important link to one another. i recommend watching fate/grand order babylonia, so youll see the extent of gilgamesh’s character writing, since they add more depth to him and also add some real life mythology into it
Wouldn't be a fate series video comment section without massive comments
These routes are:
Stay Night - Saber’s route
Unlimited Blade Works - Rin’s route
Heavens Feel - Sakura route
Basically every different route has a different love interest for Shirou and are different ways the Holy Grail War could have happened. See them as 3 different ways to tell 1 story. Got that? Alright!
(Note: All 3 routes are separate from each other as far as I know, BUT all of them connect back to Fate/Zero)
MAIN TIMELINE/SERIES:
Fate/Zero - Prequel for Fate/Stay Night (It’s canon for all 3 routes)
Fate/Stay Night (Saber Route) - First Route with Saber.
Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works - Second Route with Rin.
Fate Stay Night Heavens Feel - Third Route with Sakura.
The Case files of Lord El-Mellio II: Waver becomes Sherlock Holmes.
SPIN-OFFS:
Fate/Apocrypha - 14 Servants vs 14 servants with Astolfo.
Fate/Extra Last Encore - What the f*ck is going on? (There is no good way do describe this series… I guess it’s just another really weird Holy Grail war?)
Fate/Prisma Ilya - Magical girl spin off with Ilya.
Now what you should watch:
I recommend watching the Heavens Feel movies next. This makes the most sense because you have almost watch every Main Fate series. It’s next up in the Fate/Stay Night chart. There are 3 movies and the animation is the best is ever been. It’s the most weirdest and bizarre out of all the main fate series and I would describe it as: “Fate/Stay Night UBW but it’s on drugs and where going to Disneyworld because WHY TF NOT”
Spoiler: these movies are weird, but really good.
After the "Fuyuki War" Storyline (Stay Night and it's 3 Routes, Zero and Hollow Ataraxia) you can nearly watch any other Fate entry with no problems at all
For me the only two rules when watching fate is:
1. start with either ubw or zero since they explain the basics of fate
2. only watch the heavens feel movies after watching ubw since it is so amazing BECAUSE you've seen what shirou strives for and how important it is for him
Other than that just watch whatever
Most people have a problem with prisma illya (for a good reason) but it also has some amazing parts so if you can look past the weird stuff it can be worth it, but if you can't, watching the oath under snow movie (prequel to prisma illya) is worth it even if you don't watch the series
I started with UBW Abridged and never looked back
Astolfo is in Fate Apocrypha which is on netflix its a pretty good anime over all. I'd give it 9/10.
Fate is that one series that is hard to get into for me but easy to understand after I stay for a short while
Great video.
It's how we got gems like "People die when they are killed."
Lastly, if you want to watch what Astolfo is from, that's Fate Apochrapha .
The mobile game Fate Grand Order is also another source of Fate related Lore plus it has waifus (and Husbandos). Sooooo many waifus (and Husbandos).
He did became a hero of justice in the end, it was just annoying foreshadowing.
I recommend watching Fate/Apocrypha after FSN Heaven's Feel Trilogy
and if you want to watch Fate/Grand Order... I think you should play the game because in the anime there are some parts that are omitted for now in the anime
maybe you should also watch Kara no Kyoukai/Garden of Sinners Series, it's good the story timeline was 2>4>3>1>5-8 , and maybe tsukihime/melty blood too... but it's an old anime if you want the hd version maybe you can play the remake version
Ok I do still wanna check that one out but I’ll go into it with an open mind and try not to compare it to the newer fate series
And thats why the fate wiki is not cared fate wiki, it is called type moon wiki and it is part of it
My watch order for anime only
Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (Ufotable, don't watch the movie version made by Deen)
Fate/Stay Night Heavens Feel
Fate/Stay Night (Deen, it's a bad adaptation because it adds scenes from UBW and HF which weren't needed, but the music is good.)
Fate/Zero (Zero is meant to be watched after Heaven's Feel).
Ok I’ll check them out in that order and I’ll check out Kaleid too
Fate/Apocrypha has Astolfo-chan. You should definitely watch the three Heavens Feel movies next, then the 2006 adaptation of the Fate route (Fate/Stay Night by studio deen)
My comment for newbie for this series
“Just watch it. Then you will know.....
That you just walking in to hell”
I just got into fate too! It’s not that bad. It’s really enjoyable, but I am hesitant about heaven’s feel. There are so many sad endings in the nasu-verse that watching the “worst possible scenario” makes me nervous.
Once I do I’m going to read the original visual novel. I hope to see saber and shirou meet up again in the original epilogue from what I heard. I really wish they reanimated fate/stay night.
There is alot more then it’s letting on with shirou, but the anime doesn’t cover it properly because it doesn’t show his thoughts.
The order is fate zero
Fate/stay night
Fate/stay night: unlimited blade works
Fate/stay night: Heaven’s feel
Fate/stay night was originally animated differently and is the one you have to see first. I hope it gets a proper reboot in the future with the full story and modern day animation.
Unlimited blade works was re-adapted twice and is the second route. So there is the VN, the first adaptation and the UFOtable one you showed on screen.
The problem is that you skipped right to unlimited blade works
They are all supposed to be different timelines that slowly explain more and more.
Everything else is just spin offs. If you watch any of those, please watch carnival phantasm. It’s free on TH-cam.
Oh ok I didn’t know I was supposed to watch that first lol but I’ll try watching Fate Stay Night and I’ll also check out carnival phantasm
@@JCsReviews It's worth for it's music, not much else, the story that's never fateful for its original source, kinda slow at times
@@frederickgrandison3609 oh ok but I’ll probably still check it out
@@JCsReviews If you watched Carnival Phantasm after JUST Unlimited Blade Works, you would only have like 20% of the context.
@@BradleytheDavis Ok that makes sense
I got into Fate via Fate/EXTRA. No regrets
the main reason why saber in fate zero feels like that its mainly cuz it was written by a different author and cuz zero doesnt really specifically has a main character. saber and kiritsugu get more screen time so i guess you can call them the main leads but still.
Astolfo is in Fate/apocrypha
And if you want to see Waver (riders master) he has his own show in Lord El melloi II
Spoilers
If you meant someone who had buildup meaning angra mainyu or the holy grail then he's on Fate stay night heavens feel trilogy if not him and its kirei then hes inntge movies aswell
III. Spring Song is presently the greatest anime film of all time, change my mind.
Edit: In terms of animated fight scenes..
everything else in the fate series (apart from the fate/stay night movies like the heavens feel trilogy) takes place in an alternate timeline or universe where something is changed but before you watch any of those you should watch the heavens feel movies (different route of the visual novel)
The way I got into fate is by watching zero, then unlimited blade works, then extra, then carnival phantasm, and then what ever the hell I want.
edit: you can find Astolfo can be found in anime fate aprophyca and the game grand order if your lucky enough to pull HIM like me.
I’ll probably check out Apocrypha soon so I can see Astolfo and I’ll check out those other ones as well
ah yes "her..." as a wise man once said, "Sometimes, it takes a real man to be best girl."
@@morp9426 crap I typed that by instinct
Heavens feel will make you like shirou a lot more same thing with archer
Rider calls himself iskandar! Which is what persians called Alexander the great! And the ultimate bad guy's name is angramanyu?! Which he was the grand father to the greatest king ever lived
So if you want to watch Astolfo that would be fate apochrphya, however I would recommend Fate Grand Order, watch fate grand order First order to get the set up, but it should be noted that Fate grand Order absolute demonic front is set a while after the events of First order (basically first order was the intro world of the orginal FGO mobile games story and absolute demonic front is the 7th and final world , thing is outside of the 6th and 7th world not a lot of note actually happens in regards to storytelling it was mostly “go here find magic macguffin proceed to next world” the 6th world was adapted into 2 movies (one of which is still waiting on a blue ray release) and after that they have a movie about the final battle with the big bad end game boss as your team attacks his base
i recommend watching all 3 heavens feel movies if u are looking for what u wanna watch next
After UBW is heavens feel, same background like UBW but different progress and outcome.
The watch order is slightly complicated:
Essentially the game divided the campaign into roughly 9 parts. Some of the earlier ones were not very interesting and hence are probably never getting an anime adaptation.
The first part is called:
Fate Grand Order: First Order.
Fate Grand Order: Singularity Camelot which is 2 movies in order:
FGO: Divine Realm of Camelot
FGO: Wandering Realm of Camelot
These don't need any references to the past parts and will be understandable and followable.
After this, you have my favorite one: FGO: Singularity Babylon
It's an anime with 22 episodes. Starting with ep 0 which will show you somewhat about the 5 parts never adapted and the rest of the show will occasionally fill in more scenes from the others parts.
After Babylon is the final Part.
Fate Grand Order: Solomon
which is a movie that ends the show.
Recommended watch order.
Fate Grand Order: First Order
Fate Grand Order: Babylon ep 0 ((ONLY!!))
Fate Grand Order: Camelot
Fate Grand Order: Babylon (ep: 1 - 21)
Fate Grand Order: Solomon
HEAVENS FEEL
Guys dont get complicated just watch fate/stay night .The first one ignore the VN expert they will make you dizzy . You dont need to watch Fate Zero . Fate/stay night tell you everything important about zero and is the first one you need to watch thats all.
Ok oath undersnow Shirou is the best Shirou and ironically it's a prequel to the magical girl spin off fate kalied
astolfo appeared in Fate/Apocrypha and u don't need to worry about watch order or anything when it comes to Fate/Apocrypha, u can just jump right into it
Oh yeah this will make it easier for you: Think of Fate/Zero as a prequel of Fate/Stay Night not Fate/Stay Night being a sequel to Zero
Also here's more content:
Watch the Heaven's Feel trilogy next then here are more options
Fate/Apocrypha which has Astolfo
Fate/Kalied Liner Oath Under Snow which is basically a 4th route to Stay Night but isn't at the same time
Fate/Stay Night (2006): If you want Astolfo
The Garden of Sinners/Kara No Kyouki: Not directly related to Fate but is the same universe
Non-Anime Recommendations:
My personal favorite: Fate/type Redline (completely split apart from the other series it's basically it's own thing)
Fate/Strange Fake: A holy grail war in America which happens after Stay Night (and has Gilgamesh since you made it clear you like Gilgamesh)
Fate/Hollow Ataraxia: Which is a direct sequel to Stay Night (Visual Novel, not a specific route)
Tsukihime: Same situation as Kara No Kyouki
Fate/Extra Series
If you liked Caster from Fate/Extra then Fate/Extra CCC Foxtail is the manga that specifically is revolving around the Protagonist and Caster
Fate/Extra CCC
Fate/Extella
Fate/Extella Link
(Not released yet BTW)
Fate/Extra Record which is the remake of Fate/Extra
Fate/Grand Order and its TV series
(This is if you truly are into Fate amd want to become one of us)
As for what to watch after the heavens feel movies, it is apocrypha which is astolfo's anime as well. then prisma illya which is a spin off where illya is a magical girl (XD) warning that has lesbian loli's in it but I don't think it detracts from the story.
Heaven feel movie's also fate/Apocrypha is where astolfo is at
JC: "Hey guys I like this fate stuff what should I watch next?" the fate fanbase: "I am going to explain every plot point of every route so thoroughly..."
spoilers galore
Oh trust, in terms of accessibility Fate is a cakewalk compared to Monogatari haha
The series with Astolfo is called Fate Apocrypha.
The more you watch and think, the more youll understand.
Yeah I think so too
I recommend watching apocryphe after stay night
The reason they didn't gave saber too much characters is because Fate/Zero is a prequel that was writen before Fate/Stay Night, and saber has most of her character in the first route of the game, so they couldn't develop her too much
After the heaven's feels trilogy I recommend fate apocrapha since it's a nice self contained stroy
All I've gotta say as a starter;
You want your hand held for understanding who is fighting and the overall schematics of HOW the series' bones work, watch Zero+Stay Night-Unlimited Blade/Reworks.
Heh I watch all of them
Except fate/extra because idk lol
I recommend u follow Hollow of Dawn's guide on how to install the Fate Stay Night VN
Ok thanks I’ll look into their guide before I get the VN
Oath undersnow it's great alone and not that confusing by its self let alone sense you've watched ubw
I'll watch the anime:
Fate stay/night (2006). By logic, The earliest one should have the clearest explanation. So, Basic knowledge like what servants and noble Phantasms are(since I never read or played anything realted to fate yet during that time)
Then I just watch the others like UBW and Heaven's feel since those are alternate timelines.
Then FGO because it seems like that one is a different timeline entirely including the protag not being Shirou.
Then Apocrypta or Encore since I'm not interested to them as much as FGO.(They're completely different timelines too right?)
I'll watch carnivals(Phantasm and Grand carnival) and the other shit when I feel like it because most of it looks like it's just pure randomness.
So to sum it up, I'll watch anything that has a proper story to it first and watch the randomness in-between them.
I know I missed some of the other different timelines but whatever. do you expect me to name every single one?
For now, I'm in the middle of watching UBW.
Because you'll fall in love with Rin Tohsaka and any character that looks like her? I knew it.
fun fact:EVERYTHING IS CANON IN NASUVERSE
I watched fate and story isn't great, just fights are good, also rider is Alexander the great, assassin is hassan sabbah, all characters are great historical/mythological heroes😍 and king arthuria's armor and outfit is ridiculous, with her puffed dress and cone gauntlet
