It's just that since the subtitlers broke the line up into two snippets, it was really easy to just take the first half completely out of context as a meme screenshot. It seems like Type Moon has embraced the memes though, since thanks to that we get at least one _impressively_ stupid, recursive line like that per adaptation, so I'll call it a community win. Caster does indeed in the visual novel go out that easily. Granted at that point in the story nothing is accurate to the visual novel anymore since it now has elements of every route that are not even mentioned in that route show up. I mean every time Gilgamesh shows up in the visual novel he dunks on someone. The only time that wasn't the case was in heaven's feel and unironically that was because shirou sexed sakura.

Rider had an actual boss fight in this route. I don't know how it's handled in the anime, but it was something I wanted to point out. I enjoyed everyone of your reviews, it's nice ho watch this content once in a while. I promote the A Certain Series next (Index + Railgun + Accelererator), which should give you at least 8 videos of content for now, with content ranging from very good to somewhat ok.
The CGI dragon as you can guess was actually taken from the censored version. Rin straight up forced Shirou into a threesome in order to replenish Saber’s magic reserves. I should also mention that was the first NSFW scene in Fate.
Fun fact: I think the only reason why Shirou lived was because of Avalon since it heals all wounds no matter how dangerous it was. That was also how Saber tanked Ea to the face, yeah it’s basically True magic with how broken it is {Crazy since she rarely uses it BECAUSE SHE NEVER HAS IT}
Illya acted in this anime like she usually does, she's acting out of character in the ufotable adaptations also that "small movie" is just straight up Kaleid's continuation
@@LunarEquinox Worst thing, Kaleid is still ongoing, so prepare yourself for news on its continuation, cause a sequel was already confirmed at the end of "Licht-a nameless girl". Also, the second Kaleid movie has had a serious dip in animation quality.
Thank you for covering this anime as it is undeservingly not being recommended by "veterans" and as a result it is skipped by a lot of new fans who should in all honesty start with it. Sure it has it's flaws, but so does every other Fate anime. What I will say about this one - it has best girl at a spotlight and best OST out of all of them (Kawai Kenji really nailed Fate music here).

So glad you did this one. I think the most surprising part of the anime for me when I watched it was CGI dragon. Also Saber getting folded as much as she did.
When it comes to the Fate anime adaptations, to me this is still the best to start (at least FSN). You get the simplest plot even with the filler from other Routes, presents the basic concepts and worldbuilding knowledge for the rest of the series that after that should only work as a reminder, and the most general (still somehow falwed) version of the charcaters, like Shirou who gives plenty of monologues that perfectly detail how his sense of justice works and his general feeling, only for other works to build up on that or present it in other light, even if it's just a bit compared to the VN, also Saber gets a lot of focus and is the closest we get to experience more of how her rule was as King and how she felt about it. If your gonna keep with the series I hope you have as much fun as you have until now, and it'd be great if you could peep the VN if you're interested, it gives more details in the character's mentality and their arcs (especially Shirou and Saber, but quite others too like Kirei in HF) and of course the themes of the story, I'd say it's worth it and it may help you see many characters that while you seem to enjoy still have your gripes, under a different light.
I feel like the art in this FSN, along with the music, was the best. I hate the art in the later Fate series, it looks wayyyy too digital I mean look at Rin's face. They fucked up her face in the newer ones her face looks like a tea cup. The art in this one is the best, along with the music.
@@KT-rq9id Kenji Kawai dropped straight 🔥 with this soundtrack, truly the most magical and emotional OST out of all the Fate anime adaptations imo. And yeah, I'm quite fond of the DEEN style, when they had time they make some of the most stunnung visuals both here and in the UBW movie, the aesthetic is quite unique and I kinda miss it in modern TM projects.

I feel like when they made saber in the first fate and zero they were like yep we perfected it no need to expand on her character in future series just make her do cute things lol. This one back when it came out just hit that right niche for me because I was obsessed with Arthurian lore back when I was younger I love the tragic elements, flaws and character of saber
To be honest, i dislike to see how much overlooked is the Fate route, as even many people are unaware from its existence, to the point that when its talked about Fate Stay Night, it always mentions only UBW and Heaven's Feels, but rarely its mentioned the Fate route. Its truly sad, especially as i am fan from Shirou x Saber ❤
Now that you mentioned Kara no Kyoukai, I gotta request that you watch it all. The visuals and audio are great for a series that had the first few films released in 2007. Just make sure you watch it in release order and not chronological order otherwise it'll ruin the entire experience
This series in particular was meant to touch on all three routes for whatever reason. It has its flaws to be sure, but overall I think the bad rep it gets is over-dramatized. I do think it's unfortunate that they chose to completely re-write the Heavens Feel stuff though. I suppose that was meant to be some sort of compromise that allowed them to include it while still maintaining some semblance of continuity with the rest of the series. Illya's creepiness is actually how she's supposed to be. It doesn't show up in UBW since she's not a big part of that route and unfortunately the anime adaptation of the Heavens Feel route sacrificed a lot of her screen time in order to make more room for Sakura. Illya fans got the short end of the stick when it comes to anime adaptations unfortunately; Sure there's Prisma Illya (Nasu said he considers that to be the Illya route. What a cop out.), but it just isn't the same. Originally, Illya was supposed to have her own route but it was ultimately merged with Heavens Feel in order to save time, so by cutting her content we Illya fans were just left out in the cold.
I do believe you have reviewed almost all the animated Shinji's. Only the bad UBW movie to go and the Shinjiverse will be completed. Good luck watching that rushed film though. Not even Shinji Matou can save the movie from being as cramped and rushed as it is. They stuffed 24 episodes into a bit over an hour and a half. Also, Shinji x Shirou Podcast ship is the only correct outcome.
Eh tbh the UBW movie is good on its own and even has some good animation compared to DEEN Fate route. However yeah as an adaptation it's a waste of time.

@@ctvuniverse4414 That's basically what it was. Deen took the Unlimited Blade Works route and basically turned it into a summary so that it would fit into the time frame they were given.
The UBW movie has a perfect beginning for tying into the prior adaptation as a diffrent route, however it is just compressed to the point of actually causing continuity-issues in parts because segments that were meant to be on seperate in-narrative days suddenly happen back to back. I also believe that they actually wanted to make another more fleshed out alternate route originally and had to scale it back to a scuffed attempt at a faithful adaptation later. They animated a short scene of the Emiya vs Shirou fight in the second opening of the series and it is inconsistent with the fight in the later movie, namely that as far as I can tell, Shirou is depicted as using a singular Sword in the opening. In the final fight against Gilgamesh in the movie, Shirou also replicates Caliburn with the context of thinking back to spending time with Artoria and presumably having a similar bond with her as in the other route, just without the romance...--those events never happened--
the main reason this anime isn't watch first is because it spoils heavens feel and UBW Kuzuki wasn't meant to be revealed until UBW Archer used UBW against Berserker (his battle was offscreen in the VN) That whole sakura caster thing is anime only and was basically the end of HF Also Gil killing Caster was way for violent in the VN because she had regeneration, so he just kept spamming and she kept regenerating until she broke into insane laughs and ran out of mana (she had a lot of mana) EDIT you should check out garden of sinners

This is the anime where I truly fell in love with fictional character Saber. Man did Nasu wrote Saber beautifully. Well, Sakura from Naruto might also be reason where Saber strike harder as female heroine

I love this adaptation. I know that it was not faithful to his novel since I mix things from the 3 routes, however I don't know how to explain it, but it has something that touches my soul, I don't know if it is its soundtrack or the character designs. Maybe its animation is so pure and made 100% by hand, I don't know but it has something of those animations from that time between the 2000-2010 decade that transmit a lot of melancholy to me... This is the only route that I have cried out of the 3 What is important to keep in mind is that this adaptation was made so that the novel would sell more, for that reason they mixed things from the 3 routes to attract the attention of the Japanese viewer (not the Western one) and encourage them to buy the VN What I want to get at with this is that it was never intended to be a masterpiece of animation. They did not mix those 3 routes out of malice or because they did not know how to adapt it, this decision was made to make the novel popular and sell more. I mention this because the most common criticism made of it is from many people saying things like: "It's bad because it adapted terribly." But people don't realize that it was adapted this way on purpose, which means that it is not bad, at no time was it intended to be a faithful adaptation. It's like I say I'm going to draw the Mona Lisa painting, but my goal is simply to draw attention with my poorly done, handmade drawing, making it clear that I don't take it seriously. But people attack me because I didn't get close to the perfection of that painting, the same thing happened with this Ruta Saber 2006, it never pretended to be faithful as if it intended and made it ufotable XD Type Moon later saw the international success that Ruta Saber had in 2006, and they changed studios to ufotable to this time get serious about making a faithful adaptation, as if they achieved it with Ruta Rin and Sakura So I hope that in the year 2026 on the 20th anniversary of the release of this anime, ufotable will faithfully adapt the best route of all
I'm surprised you liked it so much with such complaints 😂 well I'm glad. Shirous character is definitely much more grating without knowing context behind his actions like in the vn, definitely. Put me on the list as someone who wants to see you review Kara no kyoukai next! Also check out the tsukihime manga whenever you have time!
Great review as always, one I'd like to see is FMA 2003 followed by FMA brotherhood, i never get tired of people bringing other people to the classic 03 anime, and talk about how brotherhood feels like a complementary experience rather than one great anime

As infamous as the Deen studio adaptation was, I enjoyed the old school anime art-style and your comments about each character here specifically voiced all my thoughts to a T.
It sucks that such a powerful line was ruined cause it was mistranslated in this anime so it says "people die if they are killed" instead of "when". When Shirou says "People die when they are killed, it should remain that way" it's just really sad cause you see him get hurt a lot and experience stuff that would kill even the strongest irl human and he's now taking away the ability to survive that kind of stuff willingly just to help Saber, but now it's just treated like a joke. 10/10 has a little something for everyone.
In all seriouness, I'm going to miss your Fate reviews. In the beggining I thought you were going to review only Zero, UBW and the HF trillogy, but now you have watched more Fate than I. You have witnessed the highs and lows of the franchise and, as a Fate fan myself, I can only hope you enjoyed your stay.

How about doing the Index series? Because of how many protagonists it has, it's like the MCU, but anime. Though, in my opinion, I prefer Index over the MCU.
Index has a lot of potential, I really hope they continue on the path of all out war between science city and the church. Never watched Accelerator though, sad given he is my favorite, but circumstances make it hard for me to watch stuff nowadays. Maybe one day I will be able to enjoy anime again, kinda hard when you cant stream things though.
@@sparemobius7430 Accelerator is alright but it isn’t really much more than a “canon filler” arc, it adds basically nothing to his character and as far as I know nothing in it is really relevant to the overarching story. If you like Accelerator blowing stuff up it’s nice but it’s definitely just a fan service show. Although there is a neat line before the final battle where he’s like “if he’s not around to do it then I guess I’ll do it myself” where he’s subtly acknowledging Touma as being a hero.
You included one of my favorite clips. It’s the one where Shirou is trying to be all romantic and Saber is so into the movie fight scene that she punching the air. 😭
When i was a newbie in anime i watched fsn 2006 but dropped it after 2-3 episodes Then after years i thought let's start fate series then i watched fsn 2006 and i loved it ...osts were sweet then i completed every fate anime then reed the source material..and now m a typemoon fan....
I hold a bias this was my introduction to Fate following zero. Which lead me to the visual novel. Deen stay night by far has the best osts amongst the adaptations imo.
Please review Garden of Sinners. It has the best main character in the entire Nasuverse, the animation is gorgeous, the story is compelling, the other characters are compelling and it has one of, if not the best soundtracks of any anime.
You are supposed to star with the Fate route, but showing the events of other routes to combine into a single one was not met positively in hindsight, with the only Nasuverse adaptation that is less popular is Tsukihime's except it doesn't exist.
Recommend Senki Zesshou Symphogear for the next review video :D Selling point: 'the space shuttle scene' that opens season 3 (Symphogear GX) being just the tip of the iceberg for the craziness of this series.
The reason this should be watched frist is because of all the secrets and twists that are built up here but are just casually reviled in the other routes.

I like this Fate more then the rest, but I don't like how it was adapted, it felt repetitive, and not so well executed, especially Shiro, I actually like his character(well because I've read the Manga and some of the graphic Novel) they Don't really capture who he truly is, besides that, great video👍
Please watch the Unlimited blade works movie and the Tsukehime anime so I don't have to. If you want a serious suggestion, watch Kara No Kyohai. I'm watching those movies and they are amazing.

U should cover the alternate ending to ubw that nvr got a dub where Rin creates a contract with saber just like how the priest did with Gil to keep them. Philosiphers for years have been having a heated debate over the deeper meaning in the dialogue of this anime, and to this day, the debate has not ended, showing how deep it truly must be. As nobody has always said "Aristotle could never". Btw the only time i remember shirou winning something was that one fight in unlimited blade works, maybe it's just because i am forgetful but it must have been damn rare that i don't remember any other time.
In this route, he beats Shinji and forces him to release the blood fort. He and Saber kill Berserker, he protected her from Gilgamesh and defeated Kotomine.
these are ust some anime which you can do a video on, i hope you consider them, i personally enjoyed all of them: danmachi, engage kiss, the yakuza's guide for babysitting, summer time rendering, darwins game, and gleipnir
Starting with this one makes everything easier. It has a lot of useful info-dumping. It also has, indeed, some cool character developpement for Saber. I don't really get the hate (beside being a very bad adatation of the Fate route (so I've heard)). Compared to the infamous/pointless Extra Last Encore or First Order or Camelott it's quite great.
If I had to have it a guess, perhaps people recommend Ufotable works as they're possibly better at hooking a newbies attention due to the visuals. The Deen adaptation whilst a lot older, might be less appealing visually to newcomers. That plus the amount of info dumping, might be enough to turn people away. Whereas Ufotable is very flashy and has some really nice action scenes, so even if a newbie is struggling a little, they at least have something pretty to work with. I know a few people who refuse to watch older anime out of dislike for the older visuals and in their opinion lesser quality (I'm not saying that's necessarily correct, just that it's their opinion), so I can see why some would turn to recommending those sorts of people something flashier.
3:54 it was also 6 in the anime for some reason the specific sentence where illya says 6 is mistranslated in the anime its possible its a mistake of the japanese voice actress since in later episodes its stated to be 6(when illya explains heracles abillity to rin and when heracles dies) also i just wanted to mention that even tho this fight is great it was actually offscreen in the visuel novel and we dont know how archer took 6 of heracles lives
@@LunarEquinox i am corrently rewatching the scenes how much lives berserker has is so inconsistent in episode 14 illya said he lost 5 lives leaving him with 7 lives but in episode 15 when rin kills berserker 1 more time illya states he has 7 more lives this makes no sense since adding the 5 lives archer took with the 1 life rin took he should only have 6 lives left not 7 idk wtf is going on anymore

okay, I have a question. I watched The OG Fate Years ago. But there is one thing I can't get. What's the sword shirou projected? if it is Caliburn, it shouldn't be stronger than Excalibur in any way to kill herc multiple times. Excalibur is far superior. and Caliburn will disintegrate if saber used it to her full capability. And if he projected Excalibur and saber had been using Caliburn from the start. well, That will explain how she killed herc, But won't explain how shirou projected it in the first place because it is a Divine Construct forged by the planet itself etc.
Caliburn isn't stronger, but it's a DPS instead of OHKO, which Caliburn blew up multiple time inside Heracles. At least that was the explanation back then.
Wooo Finally finished with all the Fate Animes. Might i recommend Utawarerumono and Tears To Tiara ? They are pretty good anime adapted from VN like fate
I’ve only seen Zero, UBW & the 3 movies but honestly just from the clips I seen of the fights in this one Shirou is still badass here 😂 like we see him least from what I seen he semi becomes archer & fights everyone! That’s crazy I wish we had that in UBW series

Thank you for covering this anime as it is undeservingly not being recommended by "veterans" and as a result it is skipped by a lot of new fans who should in all honesty start with it.
Sure it has it's flaws, but so does every other Fate anime. What I will say about this one - it has best girl at a spotlight and best OST out of all of them (Kawai Kenji really nailed Fate music here).

So glad you did this one. I think the most surprising part of the anime for me when I watched it was CGI dragon. Also Saber getting folded as much as she did.
When it comes to the Fate anime adaptations, to me this is still the best to start (at least FSN). You get the simplest plot even with the filler from other Routes, presents the basic concepts and worldbuilding knowledge for the rest of the series that after that should only work as a reminder, and the most general (still somehow falwed) version of the charcaters, like Shirou who gives plenty of monologues that perfectly detail how his sense of justice works and his general feeling, only for other works to build up on that or present it in other light, even if it's just a bit compared to the VN, also Saber gets a lot of focus and is the closest we get to experience more of how her rule was as King and how she felt about it.
If your gonna keep with the series I hope you have as much fun as you have until now, and it'd be great if you could peep the VN if you're interested, it gives more details in the character's mentality and their arcs (especially Shirou and Saber, but quite others too like Kirei in HF) and of course the themes of the story, I'd say it's worth it and it may help you see many characters that while you seem to enjoy still have your gripes, under a different light.
I feel like the art in this FSN, along with the music, was the best. I hate the art in the later Fate series, it looks wayyyy too digital I mean look at Rin's face. They fucked up her face in the newer ones her face looks like a tea cup. The art in this one is the best, along with the music.

And yeah, I'm quite fond of the DEEN style, when they had time they make some of the most stunnung visuals both here and in the UBW movie, the aesthetic is quite unique and I kinda miss it in modern TM projects.

I feel like when they made saber in the first fate and zero they were like yep we perfected it no need to expand on her character in future series just make her do cute things lol. This one back when it came out just hit that right niche for me because I was obsessed with Arthurian lore back when I was younger I love the tragic elements, flaws and character of saber
To be honest, i dislike to see how much overlooked is the Fate route, as even many people are unaware from its existence, to the point that when its talked about Fate Stay Night, it always mentions only UBW and Heaven's Feels, but rarely its mentioned the Fate route.

I too vote for this.
This series in particular was meant to touch on all three routes for whatever reason. It has its flaws to be sure, but overall I think the bad rep it gets is over-dramatized. I do think it's unfortunate that they chose to completely re-write the Heavens Feel stuff though. I suppose that was meant to be some sort of compromise that allowed them to include it while still maintaining some semblance of continuity with the rest of the series.
Illya's creepiness is actually how she's supposed to be. It doesn't show up in UBW since she's not a big part of that route and unfortunately the anime adaptation of the Heavens Feel route sacrificed a lot of her screen time in order to make more room for Sakura. Illya fans got the short end of the stick when it comes to anime adaptations unfortunately; Sure there's Prisma Illya (Nasu said he considers that to be the Illya route. What a cop out.), but it just isn't the same. Originally, Illya was supposed to have her own route but it was ultimately merged with Heavens Feel in order to save time, so by cutting her content we Illya fans were just left out in the cold.
I do believe you have reviewed almost all the animated Shinji's. Only the bad UBW movie to go and the Shinjiverse will be completed.
Good luck watching that rushed film though. Not even Shinji Matou can save the movie from being as cramped and rushed as it is. They stuffed 24 episodes into a bit over an hour and a half.
Also, Shinji x Shirou Podcast ship is the only correct outcome.
Eh tbh the UBW movie is good on its own and even has some good animation compared to DEEN Fate route.
However yeah as an adaptation it's a waste of time.

@@ctvuniverse4414 That's basically what it was. Deen took the Unlimited Blade Works route and basically turned it into a summary so that it would fit into the time frame they were given.
The UBW movie has a perfect beginning for tying into the prior adaptation as a diffrent route, however it is just compressed to the point of actually causing continuity-issues in parts because segments that were meant to be on seperate in-narrative days suddenly happen back to back. I also believe that they actually wanted to make another more fleshed out alternate route originally and had to scale it back to a scuffed attempt at a faithful adaptation later.
They animated a short scene of the Emiya vs Shirou fight in the second opening of the series and it is inconsistent with the fight in the later movie, namely that as far as I can tell, Shirou is depicted as using a singular Sword in the opening. In the final fight against Gilgamesh in the movie, Shirou also replicates Caliburn with the context of thinking back to spending time with Artoria and presumably having a similar bond with her as in the other route, just without the romance...--those events never happened--
the main reason this anime isn't watch first is because it spoils heavens feel and UBW

Also Gil killing Caster was way for violent in the VN because she had regeneration, so he just kept spamming and she kept regenerating until she broke into insane laughs and ran out of mana (she had a lot of mana)

I love this adaptation. I know that it was not faithful to his novel since I mix things from the 3 routes, however I don't know how to explain it, but it has something that touches my soul, I don't know if it is its soundtrack or the character designs. Maybe its animation is so pure and made 100% by hand, I don't know but it has something of those animations from that time between the 2000-2010 decade that transmit a lot of melancholy to me...
This is the only route that I have cried out of the 3
What is important to keep in mind is that this adaptation was made so that the novel would sell more, for that reason they mixed things from the 3 routes to attract the attention of the Japanese viewer (not the Western one) and encourage them to buy the VN
What I want to get at with this is that it was never intended to be a masterpiece of animation. They did not mix those 3 routes out of malice or because they did not know how to adapt it, this decision was made to make the novel popular and sell more.
I mention this because the most common criticism made of it is from many people saying things like: "It's bad because it adapted terribly."
But people don't realize that it was adapted this way on purpose, which means that it is not bad, at no time was it intended to be a faithful adaptation.
It's like I say I'm going to draw the Mona Lisa painting, but my goal is simply to draw attention with my poorly done, handmade drawing, making it clear that I don't take it seriously. But people attack me because I didn't get close to the perfection of that painting, the same thing happened with this Ruta Saber 2006, it never pretended to be faithful as if it intended and made it ufotable XD
Type Moon later saw the international success that Ruta Saber had in 2006, and they changed studios to ufotable to this time get serious about making a faithful adaptation, as if they achieved it with Ruta Rin and Sakura
So I hope that in the year 2026 on the 20th anniversary of the release of this anime, ufotable will faithfully adapt the best route of all

It sucks that such a powerful line was ruined cause it was mistranslated in this anime so it says "people die if they are killed" instead of "when".
When Shirou says "People die when they are killed, it should remain that way" it's just really sad cause you see him get hurt a lot and experience stuff that would kill even the strongest irl human and he's now taking away the ability to survive that kind of stuff willingly just to help Saber, but now it's just treated like a joke.
10/10 has a little something for everyone.

How about doing the Index series? Because of how many protagonists it has, it's like the MCU, but anime. Though, in my opinion, I prefer Index over the MCU.
Index has a lot of potential, I really hope they continue on the path of all out war between science city and the church. Never watched Accelerator though, sad given he is my favorite, but circumstances make it hard for me to watch stuff nowadays. Maybe one day I will be able to enjoy anime again, kinda hard when you cant stream things though.
@@sparemobius7430 Accelerator is alright but it isn’t really much more than a “canon filler” arc, it adds basically nothing to his character and as far as I know nothing in it is really relevant to the overarching story. If you like Accelerator blowing stuff up it’s nice but it’s definitely just a fan service show. Although there is a neat line before the final battle where he’s like “if he’s not around to do it then I guess I’ll do it myself” where he’s subtly acknowledging Touma as being a hero.

When i was a newbie in anime i watched fsn 2006 but dropped it after 2-3 episodes
Then after years i thought let's start fate series then i watched fsn 2006 and i loved it ...osts were sweet then i completed every fate anime then reed the source material..and now m a typemoon fan....
I hold a bias this was my introduction to Fate following zero. Which lead me to the visual novel. Deen stay night by far has the best osts amongst the adaptations imo.

Please review Garden of Sinners. It has the best main character in the entire Nasuverse, the animation is gorgeous, the story is compelling, the other characters are compelling and it has one of, if not the best soundtracks of any anime.
This route ought to be readapted one day. It’s pretty epic.
Garden of sinners/kara no kyoukai is pretty good, but pretty enigmatic, sometimes is hard to keep track of things. I will recommend it tho.

You are supposed to star with the Fate route, but showing the events of other routes to combine into a single one was not met positively in hindsight, with the only Nasuverse adaptation that is less popular is Tsukihime's except it doesn't exist.

I like this Fate more then the rest, but I don't like how it was adapted, it felt repetitive, and not so well executed, especially Shiro, I actually like his character(well because I've read the Manga and some of the graphic Novel) they Don't really capture who he truly is, besides that, great video👍

Philosiphers for years have been having a heated debate over the deeper meaning in the dialogue of this anime, and to this day, the debate has not ended, showing how deep it truly must be. As nobody has always said "Aristotle could never".
Btw the only time i remember shirou winning something was that one fight in unlimited blade works, maybe it's just because i am forgetful but it must have been damn rare that i don't remember any other time.
In this route, he beats Shinji and forces him to release the blood fort. He and Saber kill Berserker, he protected her from Gilgamesh and defeated Kotomine.

I don't really get the hate (beside being a very bad adatation of the Fate route (so I've heard)).
Compared to the infamous/pointless Extra Last Encore or First Order or Camelott it's quite great.
If I had to have it a guess, perhaps people recommend Ufotable works as they're possibly better at hooking a newbies attention due to the visuals. The Deen adaptation whilst a lot older, might be less appealing visually to newcomers. That plus the amount of info dumping, might be enough to turn people away. Whereas Ufotable is very flashy and has some really nice action scenes, so even if a newbie is struggling a little, they at least have something pretty to work with.
I know a few people who refuse to watch older anime out of dislike for the older visuals and in their opinion lesser quality (I'm not saying that's necessarily correct, just that it's their opinion), so I can see why some would turn to recommending those sorts of people something flashier.

its possible its a mistake of the japanese voice actress since in later episodes its stated to be 6(when illya explains heracles abillity to rin and when heracles dies)

if it is Caliburn, it shouldn't be stronger than Excalibur in any way to kill herc multiple times. Excalibur is far superior. and Caliburn will disintegrate if saber used it to her full capability.
And if he projected Excalibur and saber had been using Caliburn from the start. well, That will explain how she killed herc, But won't explain how shirou projected it in the first place because it is a Divine Construct forged by the planet itself etc.
Caliburn isn't stronger, but it's a DPS instead of OHKO, which Caliburn blew up multiple time inside Heracles. At least that was the explanation back then.
