Hey I got a better way to know how to know the gears if you are in 1st and you put your hand on the gear your arm will be fully extended compared to second it will have a slight bend and closer to the hip. You can judge which gear you're in if its 1st, 3rd and 5th by the speed and revs you're going at !!
Huh, in Germany it is fine to use the "shuffle" or "crossing arms" while steering. The only thing you shouldn't do is to do the "dishwasher" (Putting one palm on the wheel and then cirlce it around). We don't have the reading number plates or something like that, but other than that, it is really similar.
So many people laugh at me when I say TH-cam videos played a part in me passing my driving test but soooo many of my friends watch your videos now because of how much your videos reassured me and chilled me out before my test I can't thank you enough, especially for your reverse around the corner video 😂👍🏼
I passed my driving test last wednesday! :)I never shuffled the steering wheel back to the center, i just let it straighten itself throughout my test, however i did look and feel confident on my test so im guessing my examiner trusted that i was safe and in control. Just glas i passed lol. Passed first time after 22 hours of learning :D now... insurance... nightmare... -_- love your vids!
I held the wheel however the hell I wanted, as long as you show you're in control and the examiner is confident in the way you drive, aka you are aware of your surroundings, you are okay.
The three minors in one category is not accurate..... it depends on the category and overall drive. Crossing arms is not a fail either.... blind spot checks (or lack of) is a minor fault unless it effects someone else or is too repetitive. You can correct a reverse exercise but you can't 're do them'. All said, good video - love your enthusiasm
@Redblade Wow I cannot believe I wrote this a year ago and now I've been driving for a year! But no Redblade, I wouldn't drive there if people bribe the examiner to pass them. There would be irresponsible and dangerous drivers on the road and could potentially hurt someone haha 😅
The steering one about 10-2 9-3 and shuffling is a bit of a grey area. You can drive one handed and palm your whole test, as long as you're in control of the car you won't get marked on it
I'm from Lithuania, I failed my first test due to speeding too! :D one classmate told me that stalling is an instant major, but it was not, I was in the loser's mood and missed speed limit sign
The steering thing is a complete myth on my driving test it was steering with one hand and passed as long as you have complete control of the car at all times it's fine so for example jerky steering and lack of control would fail my examiner said "I don't mind you crossing your arms"
I just know as it is with everyone I will forget mirrors and fail because of that, like when I enter a new road (I do often in lessons) and when braking.
Hi. I am a driving instructor. You are wrong on the 3 faults in same box and it becomes a serious. That is not the case and never has been. There is no set limit as to how many faults you can get in one area before it becomes a serious. It all depends on the fault and the cause and effect to other road users. If the fault is habitual it can go as a serious.
HARRY WILLIAM DEBLING ADI exactly my instructor and examiner mentioned this because i was certain id failed when i got 4 minors in one category but it wasnt dangerous to others or me and it was just a mistake. Its all based on the examiners judgement
Wish I had a video like this when I did my test. Stalled on a hill, braked so late the examiner reached for the dual control and asked the examiner which way he wanted me to turn going into a one way road..still passed first time. (But in all seriousness, just goes to show if you make a mistake in the test - Don’t panic! If you come across as safe you can be fine. Polished helps, but you can pass with bare competence and safety)
You don't have to steer 10-2 or quarter - 3. It's the preferred method because it keeps your hands away from the air bag if it ever goes off. But not required to pass the test. Everything else you said is pretty accurate. You're knowledge seems pretty good though.
My technique was to pay too much attention to the BMW trying to climb into the back seat while approaching a traffic light. I hadn't slowed down enough to safely brake so I went through on yellow, and it turned red just as I was level with it. I mean it was my fault for not paying closer attention, but also that BMW driver basically shafted me. Also, pretty sure they don't mind you letting the wheel pass through your hands so long as you're clearly got control of it.
Hi, I'm writing here because I have no one else to talk to. I've been crying myself to sleep every night since I failed, because my examiner took me on a route that my instructor never took me on before which includes a huge roundabout and a dual carriageway. I failed for not hearing the satnav directions 3 times because I completely blacked out and was so focused on where I was there was about 7 lanes andd to go into 5th gear and work out what lane I should be on it was too much for me so all I did was for her to clarify if I should take the next left, but she said I moved over to the left too late when I has plenty of time and did not hear the satnav as I had the windows down. I'm so so sad that this has happened I am in such a bad situation and I have told no one I can't afford it and all those lessons with my instructor he didn't even teach me the route I feel so hopeless and betrayed and hated like I can't ever get in a car again now I start uni and won't have time or money I just feel so hopeless
Hey! First off I hope you're ok, please don't beat yourself up about failing as even some of the best drivers I know - including racing drivers!! - failed their test once, twice or more! on top of that you didn't fail for anything particularly bad too! Driving is expensive and although it would be best to jump straight back into the seat with more practice I know that's not always possible. If you need to take a break because of money/uni then don't worry about it, just keep up your learning online and then when you're ready you can jump back into it (probably with more knowledge than before!) Don't be afraid to switch instructors when you come back to it too, they all vary so much in quality and techniques. I really hope everything goes well for you. Good luck and keep pushing.
Hi Matilda, don't get too upset about it! I just failed with 1 major on a very silly thing, because I was too close to the left of a car Hahaha, I've been crying for 9 hours and just woke up from a nap, pretty refreshed and have been binge watching and laughing at this funny guys videos with swollen, puffy eyes (honestly Paynos, you crack me up😂). Don't worry about time, or money. I feel pretty bummed out at the examiner said I would have passed with 4 minors if it wasn't for that, but now I have spend a few weeks working extra shifts to make up for the money to pay for the next test. My point is, Don't beat yourself up, so many people have gone through that, use this as an opportunity as an experience and a way to reflect on learning more routes and becoming more comfortable with the road. Remember a driving test isn't for specific routes, once you have your license, you should be good to drive anywhere in the country 😁 I'm just using the next few week's to save up again for second go, Good Luck Darling! 😁 xo
although letting the steering wheel spin to straight by taking ur hands off the wheel briefly is a no no, examiners don't care if you cross your hands on the test, as long as you remain in control over the vehicle. I am frequently telling shocked pupils this information.
Thanks for this. I will most likely have my test in the next few weeks/next month so this will be useful. If I dropped a gear to turn into a tight corner, or to turn into a sideroad, or to get ready to overtake a cyclist and the shift was a little jerky (just a tad, nothing massive), would you get minors for that? I normally blip the throttle whilst bringing the clutch up through the biting point to avoid this, but sometimes I forgot and it makes a tiny jerk.
George, you need to be in full control of the vehicle and be safe at the same time. If you are doing anything that is putting you off or you are unsure about then get this looked at with your instructor. Generally speaking if you are downshifting and for appropriate reasons then that is fine, however I would recommend not downshifting to overtake as if its a cyclist then you wouldnt need a high speed unless there was oncoming traffic in which case I would refrain from overtaking. Downshift to overtake is for motorway really.
Failed my test on Thursday due to a build up of minors for undue hesitation. Had a clean report otherwise. :/ Booked third test for the end of this month! Watched lots of your videos before my test - very helpful!!!
i think the 15+ minors in any category is what is the pass/fail mark but i think the amount of minors in one category is subjective based on whether it was dangerous or not. i passed a few months ago with 6 minors overall but 4 were in mirror checks within signalling. My instructor was a nice guy but im pretty certain there ISNT a criteria with minors in one category.
I passed my test 6 months ago but i was close to a fail but i only had 2 minors. The first one was hesitation at a junction and the second was on my manoeuvre which was bay parking. I was lining myself up with the spaces opposite me and what i didn't realise the spaces were staggered and the inside of the passenger tyre was just touching the outside of the white line. It was a close one but i passed
I have an interesting "WHAT IF" question WHAT IF you did the test, and part-way through you needed to refuel your car? How would the examiner act? Would the test go on for longer as a result and is there anything you could be marked down on
I legit passed my test a week ago and I legit watch these videos or videos of learners and I think it’s because I feel good because I’m not a learner anymore and when I was a learner I couldn’t watch them because I was too anxious😂
Aren't you restricted to 45mph maximum? You mentioned speeding on your test, as the dual carriageway implemented a 50 mph limit. Not sure if it's different in England but in Northern Ireland we are restricted to 45mph max even with R plates.
Paynos ah right, I never knew that thanks! Just realising you mightn't have R plates either...here, they're displayed for a year after passing and we are STILL restricted to 45mph although talk of removing the restriction. Thanks for these videos by the way, they're a big help :)
It's been really good with me driving it man! Had a coil pack and front bushings wear out but it's not too bad for an 11 year old car with me at the wheel!
Hi I'm doing my lesson at the moment and it's going to sound easy to drivers but I find that when I turn out of things I am really slow like with the clutch and I hold people up other than that I'm doing well was wondering if u or anyone in the comments could explain how I can master coming off the clutch to gas quicker
GOD DAMIT PAYNOS PASSED FIRST TIME THEN GOT LICENSE REVOKED 6 MONTHS LATER THEN FAILED RESIT!!!! - FAILED WITH 10 MINORS FOR USE OF SPEED/APPROACH SPEED/CUTTING CORNERS/OBSERVATIONS/FOLLOWING DISTANCE AND MAJOR FOR CHOOSING TOO SMALL A GAP AT A ROUNDABOUT. OH WELL NEED TO BE A GRANNY FOR THE THIRD TEST

YES! I've always wanted a tutorial on how to fail my driving test
if I drive a BMW do i instantly fail the test if i use my indicators
The sheer fact that you thought about indicators in anyways while in a BMW is already a fail
literally passed my test 4 months ago, no clue why i still watch videos like this! 😂😁
boobs
It never hurts to improve and Paynos is eye candy :P
alexthomsonuk both of those things are very true😏
deep down you know you are a shit driver
it's not deep down, it's pretty apparent to me
You should be a driving instructor dude, you seem really calm and I think learners would take naturally to the way you explain things
Hey everyone! Thanks for the amazing support and I hope you have a great week
Paynos are you from Bedford??
Hey I got a better way to know how to know the gears if you are in 1st and you put your hand on the gear your arm will be fully extended compared to second it will have a slight bend and closer to the hip. here in greece you just give the examinor 150 euros and you pass.Dead simple and eveyone is happy
wtf lmao, you serious? xD
yes
Remind me not to drive around in Greece 😂
@Redblade Wow I cannot believe I wrote this a year ago and now I've been driving for a year! But no Redblade, I wouldn't drive there if people bribe the examiner to pass them. There would be irresponsible and dangerous drivers on the road and could potentially hurt someone haha 😅
I passed my test yesterday with 1 minor 😜😜
I did what you said but I passed, I'm gutted.
Passed my test on Monday! 4 minors, itching to get my car on the road. Your videos helped me out quite a bit man
3 minors in the same category is not necessarily a fail it's examiner discretion,
Kind regards tom - driving instructor
tom latcham yeah I got confused then, when he said that as I passed but got 3 minors for going too slow
Was thinking that as well because I'm near sure I got 3 minors for not checking mirrors but I passed
This video have me flash backs to my test 😂 I restarted my manoeuvre 3 times 😂😂 great video👌
The steering one about 10-2 9-3 and shuffling is a bit of a grey area. You can drive one handed and palm your whole test, as long as you're in control of the car you won't get marked on it
My practical test is tomorrow 12:45 bristol I'm so nervous ✌🏾
I'm from Lithuania, I failed my first test due to speeding too! :D one classmate told me that stalling is an instant major, but it was not, I was in the loser's mood and missed speed limit sign
I'm close to being able to drive and these videos help me so much!!
Amy Bryan, same! Turn 15 and a half July 10th. Where you from?
Moises Padilla you celebrate turning 15 and a HALF
AHCy0 that's when you can get a permit in Colorado (U.S.).
+AHCy0 Hahahaha
up to 15 minors? Over here in Ireland you can only get up to 8 minors.
love your videos, in the process of having lessons and these videos are great, thank you bro!
No worries! Good luck and thanks for watching :)
"Ello lads" do that intro next time
Passed my test in may with ZERO minors! So happy
Why am i watching this im 15 and i wont have my driving test for 3 more years.
clickbait .. i wanted to know how to fail my test not pass
Followed you're advice and manged to fail my test :D Cheers for the help! Next time I will follow your advice on how to pass xD
My dude paynos is the plug 🔥
The steering thing is a complete myth on my driving test it was steering with one hand and passed as long as you have complete control of the car at all times it's fine so for example jerky steering and lack of control would fail my examiner said "I don't mind you crossing your arms"
Also if you bring back the Examiner in one piece then that should help you pass
I just know as it is with everyone I will forget mirrors and fail because of that, like when I enter a new road (I do often in lessons) and when braking.

Michael Kennedy do it anyway.
i plan in doing my test in my own car
Welp, I failed my driving test yesterday. I feel gutted but I now know what I need to improve on.
As long as you know what you need to improve on it's all good!
Yes you'll only be made fun of for not passing 1st time by everyone for the rest of your life 😂😂😂
I’ve got my driving test tomorrow this has helped a lot, I’m feeling much more at ease now 😊 👍
another brilliant video, keep up the good work!
Thanks mate! :)

Jack De Guia Good luck!
Have you passed your exam?
Taking my exam tomorrow, confident but a lil bit anxious.. nice videos overall
Cheers from portugal
Yuriy 1171 did u pass?

Good job!
Keep being failed for silly stuff on my driving tests so I'm hoping this will help me pass this next one 🤞🏼
How to fail your driving test: do a celebratory powerslide into the test centre parking space after you know you fucking nailed it
Wowing your examiner with sick donuts is an instant pass
Thanks for this. I will most likely have my test in the next few weeks/next month so this will be useful. I recognise those roads 5 mins from where I live.
the only time i shift into 5th, is when im on a motorway, but if im driving on a 40 or 50 road, i usually stay in 4th
I have an interesting "WHAT IF" question
WHAT IF you did the test, and part-way through you needed to refuel your car? How would the examiner act? Would the test go on for longer as a result and is there anything you could be marked down on
Aphix_ they would make sure the car had enough fuel obviously?
Actually, the instructor would make sure his car was full enough or if you were using you're own car, they would expect you to have this prepared
I had to overtake a wide, three wheeled bicycle on my test so I had to leave more room than I was used to. Luckily I passed with flying colours!
I passed Friday and had to overtake 3 cyclists smh
Close the FUCKING doooor
thank u for all ur videos n i lov ur voice
Great video mate, got my test next week :(
Hi 👋 I was just curious, how many times did it take you to pass your driving test ? Your channel is very lovely 😊 X
Seems harder then the Australian Victorian test, some things I done even worry about like shuffling wheel back lol
I legit passed my test a week ago and I legit watch these videos or videos of learners and I think it’s because I feel good because I’m not a learner anymore and when I was a learner I couldn’t watch them because I was too anxious😂
Not overtaking when it was safe to do so failed me on my second driving test
Crossing your hands while turning is a Myth, they really don't care, as long as you are in control and can demonstrate that, they are fine with it.
dont think anyone will have 15 minors with 0 majors.
I just passed mine today, 3 minors and made a mess of it, from rolling back once to going in the wrong lane at a major roundabout. xD
Shuffling the wheel isnt an issue they don't mind if you do that
please elaborate on why defensive driving is scared driving.
Aren't you restricted to 45mph maximum? You mentioned speeding on your test, as the dual carriageway implemented a 50 mph limit. Not sure if it's different in England but in Northern Ireland we are restricted to 45mph max even with R plates.
England doesn't have that same restriction for learners :)
Paynos ah right, I never knew that thanks! Just realising you mightn't have R plates either...here, they're displayed for a year after passing and we are STILL restricted to 45mph although talk of removing the restriction. Thanks for these videos by the way, they're a big help :)
krisachick we use Ls whilst learning and can use P (passed) plates once qualified but the latter is to our discretion
Nice video, How reliable has your ibiza been? and how many miles does it have. Thanks.
It's been really good with me driving it man! Had a coil pack and front bushings wear out but it's not too bad for an 11 year old car with me at the wheel!
+59k miles
do some videos on maneuvers please!!
Hi I'm doing my lesson at the moment and it's going to sound easy to drivers but I find that when I turn out of things I am really slow like with the clutch and I hold people up other than that I'm doing well was wondering if u or anyone in the comments could explain how I can master coming off the clutch to gas quicker
have you considerd training to become a driving instructor?
here in india don't stall more than 5-6 times and you have passed the test
You could do what I did and run a red light 😉
Maybe not 😂 I failed once, can't do it again 😂
Could you put a video on how to steer with one hand for reversing and stuff
Haathim Munas practice
Got my test Monday, this is such a great video to watch... ;D jk good vid bruh
Haha cheers man!
Well, I just passed my test! :) I solely believe this video alone was the pinnacle of my success XD nah but thank you bro, your vids are awesome!
i always have to stop before a roundabout :/
What if the road speed limit is 50 mph and you are driving at like 45? Would they still expect you to drive 50?
How can you check your blind spot when driving when your are not suppose to take your eyes off the road?
Just a quick glance when it is safe to do so, just after using your mirrors 😁
he lives in bedford he is in my area
Passed first time, only 5 minors, think it was two at roundabouts... lol and another for undue hesitation.
Congrats!
I've passed 6 months ago why am I still here
One thing that'll for sure fail you is going through a one way the wrong way. I failed my first test because of that.
Took my test yesterday and got 3 minors on my blind spot alone, I think it’s down to the examiner’s discretion because I passed
your from bedford? didnt even realise till i saw the street you where driving on
Whey Bedford 😂
Geeeeeez joNathan... theyre f****oCD obsessive on the uk test lololololllllllplolollll
Im good at driving stupid close to the side and not hit anything
I stalled 2 times or three times on my test, still can't remember & I think I only got a minor - failed because of my control stop lmao , but thats a different case
You don't need to check your blind spot when changing lanes...
Typical Bambi Yes you do, good luck getting away with that on your driving test, inb4 you say "I didn't do it on my driving test and passed"
ghjfkldsxzmkbfj passed my driving test in January without doing it :) so clearly you can. i even asked my instructor and he said it's not needed
The door being open on your right is making me feel fustrated im ngl
got my test in 9 days !!
just dump the clutch 3 times and its over
I passed my on Thursday
Are car controls always in the same place or is it different for every car
They'll be in very similar places each time but there are some that differ slightly. Main controls will be recognisable but accessories like wipers/lights/heating are quite different between cars
