I would've really struggled if I was learning and practicing in 2 different cars. The clutch and break can be or feel entirely different across cars so it may be making it harder for you like it would me. After 12 driving lessons, this video answered why I kept jerking while moving away in traffic.
I have driven auto cars for 13 years but I felt disappointed when I couldn't fix my manual driving stalling problems.
I realize now that my instructor needs to learn from you that the best practice is to lift your foot when getting to the biting point, combined with a few gas pedals, especially for people with a short foot like me.

i've had my license for about a year now and shifting has never really been a problem and i've driven all kinds of cars. But this week i bought my first car and had alot of trouble pulling away. I thought it was a clutch issue but really the problem was me keeping my heel planted on the floormats like my instructor taught me. Idk why i literally never tried lifting my foot but it resolved the problem and probably saved me alot of money bringing it to the shop. Thank you.

Top video, very well explained.i must admit,I threw my daughter in the driver seat 3 weeks ago in empty private car parks, and we've been using the no gas method, just to get used to bite point and steering.that will change this weekend coming to your method.
I've also sent her the link to your videos.
    Very impressed with your explanation.👍👍👍

Loved this video Richard!! I've been driving for the past 10 years and have always had the habit of keeping my heel down when using the clutch! It's perfectly fine and comfortable in regular driving but in bumper to bumper traffic, it's exactly as described in the video that the clutch pedal seems to get into an awkward position underneath your foot after a few pushes to the pedal and then you have to adjust! I tend to just quickly put the car in neutral, adjust my footing on the pedal and then get back into gear again!
I never thought about keeping my heel off the floor in order to attain better control! I will definitely be trying this now and hopefully will be able to get into the habit soon! Thank you so much for this video, it goes to show that it never hurts to go back to the basics, you might learn something that you never thought of! Cheerio!! ♥

    As a new driver who passed today for the first time here are some tips for learners;
    1. No matter what the officer says or does remember your training (still rember though that officer is in charge)
    2. Don't rely only on your lessons, use your off time.
    3. Have a support system (I prayed and put my trust in God and relied on my family)
    4. Don't tell the entire world cos that makes you feel like you need to impress people which completely defies your support system.
    5. Do not be afraid to ask if your not sure what to do on your test.
    6. After every lesson sit down and make notes of everything that to you can remember.
    7. Be fully dedicated to driving.
    Use your resources:
    -watch videos
    -ask questions
    -seek advice
    -read books
    -download pdfs
    -go to the necessary extents
    8. Learn to understand how your body works when it comes to stress and find the proper management techniques. (reading Bible quotes, praying and knowing that I was prepared was all I needed.)
    9. Try not driving when traffic is hectic.
    10. Your first impression dictates the likeness the officer has in you but make sure that you dress comfortably.
    11. Again do not allow the officer to presurise you. Just breathe, pray and remember your training.
If you need any more advise please feel free to respond. I am more than happy to help.
    God bless❤

Which country because in South Africa you need money urgently to pass a driving test?

    • @bradsmusic09
      @bradsmusic09 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@rubiksworld2170 It sounds like you're not from South Africa because in South Africa the driving instructors don't talk about the bite point, only experienced drivers do..
So I'd say if you have the option then don't worry about finding the bite point. Rather focus on Slowly releasing the clutch to the point where the car drops (essentially this is the bite point) and then continue to move off. Changing gears is a slightly different story though since you need to move quicker so that you're not marked as coaching or riding the clutch. That being said I would advise you to
      speed up slightly,
      gear up,
then release the clutch almost halfway (quicker than clutch control but not too fast),
You should have felt the bite point ever so slightly
Now you can remove your foot off the clutch.
If you can, practice your clutch control even if you're just doing it in your driveway or garage... Etc.
      Hope that helps.

i got good at clutch when i realized the 3 stages of engine readiness that the clutch controls and use the rev needle to know exactly when im on the bite. seeing it wake up at 1 quarter clutch, and spot the 100 rev drop at half clutch. its helped me move off perfectly hills or no and gear shift with immaculate precision. i don't need to look any more but your the first person ever to mention this. as for 2mph i gave yup using the speedo they seem to lag at that speed. much easier to just look my surroundings and hold a slow walking or crawling speed

if you want to learn about clutch control the only way is to dtive something old with a crash box where you need to master double d clutch

oh my god. With 20 years of AT experience. I'd never thought it could be this easy. I was never taught how to drive MT. Even with a good concept of how a clutch works, I wouldn't say I managed to ever pull out of the driveway without a stall. But after watching two of your videos Richard, I was able to drive to the supermarket and back, even with red light stops. Without hiccups or being horned at! My first MT real life driving was a success! I must say your videos, (especially the part on clear explanation of the bite and the ECU) has literally taught me how to drive an MT in practice! They completed the lost puzzle piece for me! Thank you for your knowledge and perfect teaching!
