Yes I agree man. This sounds like it came out of '98 fosho. I was 12 then. I discovered them right around '98ish maybe '99. I loved back to school, Change, and others as they are top notch and still are killing it today. That's what I want to see, my favorite musicians still kicking butt
I still think this is one of their best albums... and I started listening to them in the late 90s.... next to Around The Fur, this is a juggle for best album ever.

This track to me is the elemental Deftones sound. I think it may be my favorite of the album. This record has a real "Around the fur" feel to it.
Around the Fur combined with Koi No Yokan. Of course it has its own charm, too.

It wasn't intentional, they went through multiple people with the mastering of Gore but no one could seem to get it right. Eventually Matt Hyde who produced the album did the mastering and final mix just so they could get the album released. Would definitely like to see a remix of Gore at some point, its not terribly mixed but if things got tweaked it would definitely improve the album

Slept on this song so hard when Ohms first came out... ended up becoming one of my favorite cuts off of this incredible album. It will also be forever impactful to me on a personal level because I had this playing full blast when I was driving late one night back in December 2020 and blew a tire, going off the road and hitting a tree going 50-60 mph. Barely got out of the car before it went up in flames. Fractured my collarbone and got a really bad concussion. That ordeal is still a blur in most recollections, but this song puts me right back in the moment every time, find it kind of ironic because this track’s sinister tones and sheer sense of intensity seem a fitting backdrop to such a massive trauma ending a year of nothing but. But much like Deftones’ music, the incident was a mix of brutality and beauty. Still recovering from the injuries, but I’m getting a fresh start in a new city next month and reconnecting with estranged family and friends because I decided after that close call that life is to short to let the past dominate you. And now there’s yet another reason to hold the realest dudes out of Sacramento and their work close to my heart, keep on doing what you guys do best and take pride in knowing that you guys, in an admittedly corny way, were beside me in one of the most trying moments of my life.

Matrix shifted to a more orchestrated and goa/psytrance sound after enter the matrix. I doubt they would go with anything that doesn't give off a cybepunk vibe.
