Charlie and Bill swinging, Keith and Woody weaving, Ian tickling the keys, and Mick barking out the words in his inimitable style. God, they were great.
OMG This is the best rock and roll video ever. Mick Jagger is the macho ostriches that no person could resist. Keith Richards is the Mr. Smoothest Rythm work horse genius, That is like a Swiss Clock. Ron Wood is the sly professional with all the last minute tastiest licks, Charlie Wattsis the the reason we’re here. We love the Rock nRol Beat and take it for granted. But shame on us cause so. Charlie’s Good Tonight It me? Bill of course was coming through with high toned propelling base lines consistently.
That's a delicious riff Keith plays throughout on guitar. Backbone of the tune. Gets a wee affection pat on head from Mick at the end. Great song from one of the best records ever Xile on Main Street.
Anyone claiming mick "sucked" in this live version doesn't know a thing about Rock N' Roll. The spontaneity and recklessness of rock n roll is pouring out in this video. Great performance by Jagger and the Stones
Yeah..Mick is working his ass off here. Really playing to the crowd. He is acting out the lyrics almost more than singing them here, getting the song out to the crowd. Especially on the "Some Girls" material. Taking it very seriously. This is also about the last year the Stones were still a depraved rock band. Just starting to be accepted by society. Still had some outsider status living the rich, degenerate rock star's life.
The first Stones Concert I gotta see was their 1972 "Stones Tour Party" (Exile on Main Street) in June at the LA Forum, at age 16. That tour was full of problems. 1978's "Some Girls" Concert was at Anaheim Stadium, where we were able to sit on a blanket in the outfield grass nice and close to the stage. A crowd of 60,000 and the Mezzanine began to bounce up and down from people stomping their feet, scared the crap out of many. At the 2016 Coachella Festival, Mick referred to the Show as The Geriatric Festival. Mick and Keith were 73 years old at the time. *Rock and Roll never grows old*

If ever there was a quintessential Stones track, lyrics, feel, etc... Tumbling Dice must be up there, at the top of so many of their songs. That whole album, Exile.., got under my skin when it came out and I got it.. 72, 73...and never let me go...my overall favourite album of all rock ..and it's not because other albums are of less quality.. but because Exile never got boring (but for 2 tracks), has more staying fresh power, than anything else I ever listened to for 50 years.
'Exile On Main Street' is the greatest rock album of all time. Nothing can touch it. I love all the Stones records, but Exile is the most raw, twisted, and gritty Stones album.
@@MH-yr4zl The entire album shines. I put it on and listen to the whole thing start to finish. I love those songs that you mentioned as well. 'Shine A Light', to me, is like classical music or something.
In an interview, I heard Keith say that writing songs for Mick was a treat coz it was like writing for a person with the voice control of Maria Callas and the showmanship of James Brown.
So awsome. Ive been watching this back and forth between Mick Jagger and Paul Mccarney lately. Paul said the Stones copied The Beatles and they were a blues cover band. This is nothing like the Beatles. The Stones are Rock and Roll as far as im concerned and The Beatles dont hold a candle to them.
Definitely. I almost went to the 81' show at age 13. Saw 89' 94' 2000 2003 & 2006, and 94' at the Rose Bowl and 2000 at the Anaheim Pond (Now Honda Ctr) were the best. IMO Jagger "IS" the best front man ever, but show biz or not I wouldn't like him grabbing my satchel like he does' Ron Woods at 2:10 but whatever. Have watched this vid quite a few times and never noticed.
Makes me super nostalgic and sad for Amsterdam of the late 70ties, the city was fully Stones everywhere, I had the bootleg of this tour, loved it and now it relates to that period

I was seventeen and driving home and tumblin dice was played for the first time on my radio. I had to pull over and groove right there on the side of the main road thru Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. Loved it ever since.
He is being typical Mic here!!! The good front man he is and why everyone loves him!!!😘 Ronnie and Keith are weaving here. Love seeing Bill Wyman!!! Everyone was so young here but still looking and sounding extremely good here!!!
Yes, this tour seemed to be the best since Mick Taylor left the band. after Mick T left they tried to redefine themselves.... This tour and album were the Stones 3rd or4th GREAT achievement..
I wondered why both guitar players ran away from him at 1:13. Then I saw what happened at 2:06 and realized MIck is also a Proctologist. The man is an incredible multitasker! :-)
Why did he do that with ron, what the secret message behind it? Someone knows? Maybe it has something to do with his guitar-solo and acting while play a solo?

Except he didn't. On this tour, and virtually all of the 70s tours, Mick sings the 2nd verse twice. So, we get two "Lone Crapshooter", and no "Rank Outsider". He cleaned it up much later, but was real sloppy with lyrics in the 70s.
Me too man, I've seen them way back in 1998 at the Malieveld in The Hague, and at Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf in 2016 (I recorded the entire show that evening and put it on cd)
