The similarities of OB's office in his old timeline and his lab in the TVA may be because the TVA could've been built around OB's old office, suggesting that it could've been ground zero for the creation of TVA. And that this group created it. Maybe.😅
The part where Sylvie is almost hit by the universe being destroyed reminded me of when Bojack Horseman is being sucked into the ink in the penultimate chapter of his series. I have to say I love Loki, I hope they don't change Kang and bring back Victor Timely.
This show is so necessary. The MCU needs to look at the caliber and quality of the writing here and use it as the benchmark for all of their storytelling going forward especially with The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars on the horizon
Some DJ trivia that furthers the vinyl record analogy: 1. the side of a record is physically one continuous groove…aka one timeline 2. some records made specifically for highly advanced DJ performance (aka turntablism) will contain a groove thats cut to loop back on itself, not run out at the end…’like snake eating it’s tail’ 3. the most popular dj softwares use vinyl records containing an analog timecode that the dj’s computer converts to a digital signal to control music files. this allows a DJ to have the power to seamless move anywhere in the timeline but also loop and manipulate the audio…sort of like a TemPad. Plus with a large enough hard drive, the DJ has huge amounts of the history of recorded music at their fingertips…which is kinda like time-travel.
Regarding sylvie i figured she escape the TVA before it was destroyed like she did in the record store before everything disappeared. And that's why unlike everybody else she still remembers everything.
That's what I figured she would do. That's why she's on her PREFERRED timeline, not her actual place on the timeline, which (I assume) would be back in her version of Asgard.
I think that's because she isn't a human but one of Loki variants, so she is a God herself. Also one of her powers is a mind power, what allows her to control other people's minds. But what I'm wondering why she wasn't immune to spaghettification at the end?
@@SteelNight7I think there was only one outcome to defeat Thanos at the point when Doctor Strange used the time stone, so timelines branched before then could have different possible outcomes, but Doctor Strange was only looking at potential outcomes from their timeline. Sylvie is also sporting an Egyptian Ankh earring! Which Symbolizes “eternal life” not only pointing to her status as a god, but also during a scene in which she remembers Loki, retaining her memories from other timelines where the others have forgotten.
I’m wondering why it hasn’t been mentioned yet that she has a tempad, I thought that was why she retained her memory. As it’s the he who remains tempad 🤷♀️👀
Glad you mentioned the tie to The Matrix. I am not sure if it was mentioned before but the hallway scene with the old phone ringing at the end before Loki prunes himself is a direct lift from the end scene of The Matrix.
Maybe I got distracted, but I don't think I heard you mention the connection to America Sanchez wherein it's pointed out that Loki is subconsciously controlling his time jumps because they take him to when and where he needs to go. Dr. Strange points out to America that she's subconsciously controlling her multiverse jumps with the same results. I would not be surprised if that's not a coincidence.
Theory: Loki and Sylvie create a “new”/The TVA. Since they killed HWR, he is no longer in charge of the story, but instead it’s the Council of Kangs. Loki and Sylvie’s TVA is one of free will and choice, but allowing those variant timelines also allows Kangs to rise up, and enables the Multiversal War. The Avengers from all of the timelines assemble in a single remaining timeline or even a new timeline for Secret Wars. Loki collects them similar to how he collected his TVA pala
Man I love this TV series! The series is essentially about 'What Ifs' and 'Do-overs'. The character development is just wonderful and the joy of TV series is there's the time to play with this stuff vs a film where you only have 2 hours. Loki gets so much more development and focus in this series than what was developed over the span of 10 years of original MCU. The journey that Loki has gone through from his original belief that because he is a god, he can do what he wants for personal gain to now eventually realizing that there is a higher power that has chartered his life and determined his purpose. He is the catalyst of disruption and change. Change is painful but you need it to grow and evolve. He Who Remains knew that at some point of time, he would die and the TVA would die. Thus the fail safe that in the event that were to happen, all the staff would just roll back to their original branched timelines with their memories wiped. In a way, at least He Who Remains didn't let them get killed and thus the 'thank you for your service'. The TVA functions like a government ministry and a kind of 'Public Service'. The episode shows us the original lives and character qualities of OB, Mobius, B15 and Casey. But as much as we thought that Loki was going to get the band back together ala Nick Fury and the Avengers, Sylvie's comment that in doing so, that just makes Loki selfish for forcing these people out of their normal lives just to save the TVA because he wanted to. The difference with grabbing Victor Timely from his timeline was because that was his destiny to make the TVA, but for all these other people, the TVA wasn't their destiny. He Who Remains extracted them and made them work for the TVA originally without their choice. Loki pondered this and that Sylvie was probably right that if he did this, he wasn't giving them a choice and thus regretted and wanted to send them back. Which shows how much he's grown as a person. He's moved away from his original megalomaniac fascist origins to someone with empathy and reason. Sylvie on the other hand firmly believed in free will and chose to be blissfully ignorant of everything else around her as long as her ideal life is preserved, but she learns eventually that the chaos she caused because of her selfish act of revenge has caused wide spread ramifications to her own world. Utter complete chaos only produces utter destruction and though she ports away and realizes his mistake, even she wasn't spared being spaghettified. Which means that the chaos she caused would only bring about her own destruction. The funny thing though is that Loki is the chosen constant, not even Sylvie even though she's also a Loki variant. Loki is immune to this kind of time radiation, which means he cannot die by spaghettification. But instead, he is time slipping against his control. But yeah the funny thing is Loki's subconscious thoughts about his friends and situation is allowing him to show up in places and points in time that have meaning and purpose. At first he thought he could control the 'why' about the situation and its meaning, but later he realizes he can control the time slipping anchoring the thoughts on the 'who', the people and the characters. Empathy, is about tapping into someone elses feelings and thoughts, and Loki now understands that now that he understands empathy, he can control time slipping at will. This was a guy who didn't comprehend empathy in the beginning and now totally understands it. Which makes Loki a true powerhouse because he literally is one of the most powerful entities in the MCU, and without the use of any item of power! Sylvie had He Who Remains master Tempad and even she wasn't spared being spaghettified. Loki has literally become the new He Who Remains but even better because he can manipulate events at will, but would it be for the better?
I wonder if Sylvie didn't spaghettify in the McDonald's timeline because that's not her original timeline, but spaghettified at the end of the episode because that was her original branched timeline.
In previous episode Obi says he was inspired by Victor timely but here he is actually inspired by Loki or it's just bootstrap paradox. And he who remains used this and made Obi a good servent to TVA and himself after erasing half his memory by replacing loki with Victor.

Bloody brilliant. your episode breakdown, the episode itself, the acting, the special effects, the subtext, the production design...such a wonderful TV show ! Thanks for unraveling its marvels to us !
I thought it was funny how Loki would time slip to Möbius’ branched timeline at the motor lot where he moves exactly how the inflatable tube man in the background.
About their original timelines; they're all branched! For example, B-15 may not have experience invasion or even Loki. Mobius wife may not have been snapped because Thanos may not have existed or occurred on their branched timelines
Someone pointed out to me its possible that each TVA agent was plucked from the time stream moments before death, perhaps thats why they all say branched timeline, because they are not supposed to be alive. Casey probably was supposed to drown, B-15 could have been blown up by the battle in Avengers 1, and Mobius' son probably burnt their house down with matches
Starting to wonder if they might do a fakeout and the He Who Remains we saw at the end of time who was sick of managing the timeline was actually Loki in disguise rather than Timely and was sick of running the TVA and wanted his younger self to take over, as he said he wins either way... either the Lokis take over directly from him or they kill him and end up right back there again.
Great take, Ryan. I have to say, this show runs deeper than any other Marvel property. For example, I was adopted as an infant, like Loki, and it's finally in the psychological record that this tends to create intense separation anxiety paradoxically combined with isolationist instincts. It's not fun. I feel like Loki's arc is a really on-point representation of the adoptee's dilemma. You can't process trauma that you can't access, so you continually act out your own worst scenario, ouroboros-style.
You wanna know how they'll be able to fix the loom without spaghetti-ing? The answer has been in front of us the entire time, and specifically this episode. I'd bet my soul on this. It's gonna be a Temporal Jet Ski, one that can ride on the energy of time as if it were a track, a vehicle that can get out there fast enough to put in the Throughput Multiplier and get whomever goes out there back. Heck, I'd even say that with Loki figuring out to control his time slipping, who's to say he couldn't do that while on a jet ski. Mobius will design it. Heck, I'd expect both Mobius and Loki to go out there on the Temporal Jet Ski with Loki knowing how much it would mean to Mobius and that if someone needed to stay behind to make sure it got fixed, Mobius would stay while thanking Loki for making his one dream outside of the TVA come true. If this were not to happen like this and Mobius is alive after the Loom is fixed, I'd expect Mobius to head up a new division of the TVA, the Temporal Intelligence Transportation Authority Network, or simply the TITAN division. But hey, it's just a theory and I'm not MatPat. I think you've stumbled onto the biggest plot device with that new shirt more than you realize, Ryan. Mobius riding a mobius strip on a Temporal Jet Ski seems like such a plausible thing to come true and fix the loom. Also, the fact that O.B. is referred to as A.D. Doug (they never mention this in dialogue, it is in the closed captions) is so meta as it pertains to Screencrush and Doug.

@@NoraHannigan678Loki that destroyed his reality, tried to off himself, cursed with immortality, and given a job to protect the multiverse from the devil known as metphisto. He beat dr dooms, and many people with universe altering powers
Same here. I personally don't see how Loki could change his god status so easily without breaking the rules of being a god in the MCU. Because if the option of changing one's god status was always a thing then why didn't he try doing so earlier in his life in an effort to become more loved? And what about Thor in Thor: Ragnarok? If that option to become the god of something else existed why didn't he consider it? If they do end up going down that route they're going to have to provide a good explanation. Because otherwise it wouldn't make any sense.
@@ked49 is that different from god of stories ? i thought avenger prime meant more along picking the "prime" version of each avenger for secret wars, is it a comic run?
Thor had friend-the Warriors Three and Lady Siff. Loki had no friends growing up and into his adulthood. He still didn’t have friends on Asgard. Now, Loki has friend. The Warriors Three( Mobis, OB & Casey) and B-15. It’s a parallel to Thor’s life. I wonder at sometime or some point Loki will realize this.
The episode was amazing! I also really liked how Loki made himself look better before going to see Mobius. Also I find it interesting that the four were all on Altered Timelines, that none were on the Sacred Timeline. But yeah this was amazing.
Has anyone considered that OB could be a He Who Remains variant? The way they looked at each other when they met 😍, and even though he built that temporal aura reader, he may not have considered his aura would unlock the system.
I don't think so given he seemed happy to have visitors and collaborators both times he met Loki and Mobius "for the first time." Kang understands needing to have people around him but mainly to use as pawns rather than as actual teammates.
I thought they might've edited some of the audio out of the video after uploading to YT to avoid getting demonetised... there were some weird edits in this one.
I don’t think they understand the type of problems people are going to have with lokis new ability lol. People are gonna complain and say things like “oh why doesn’t he just stop the avengers from losing the space stone” or something but I think we’ll come to realize he’s actually still doing everything he who remains wanted him to. No free will.
At the beginning of the episode, after the blast , there was a scene where temporal loom was fully functioning (working fine or refurbished). So Loki might have gone to past where the loom exists also the sacred timeline or he might have went to future were he and his team successfully expanded the outer ring of that loom (as we saw loki time slipped and went back at episode end). What's your thought on that temporal loom.

I really feel Loki broke the 4th wall in that moment when he realized “It’s about who.” Kinda spoke to me that Marvel is back to telling amazing stories for its fans ❤
11:30 Holy sh*t that makes even more sense if you think about it - because weekends are a temporary break before you have to get back to work - in the same way that each character is on a temporary break before having to get back to work to save the timeline. And even more, it connects backing to the ouroboros repeating cycles theme this show has.
There's a brief moment when Loki timeslips back to the jet-ski shop before he talks to Mobius for the first time where he's standing in front of the inflatable tube man waving his arms around just like the tube-man is, lol.
I think he'll fight a variant of himself, that's behind He Who Remains, like the comics. LOKI was creating the TVA, when he was skipping through the branched timeline.

This was really 1 of my favorite episodes from both seasons as we really got to see the "heroes" as they are as, well, people.
The similarities of OB's office in his old timeline and his lab in the TVA may be because the TVA could've been built around OB's old office, suggesting that it could've been ground zero for the creation of TVA. And that this group created it. Maybe.😅
The Loki vs Kang dynamic is going to be just as big as Thanos vs Tony Stark was if done correctly. So excited for what's to come
Loki is also a totally sympathetic necessary evil.
Id be pretty satisfied if they proceed with making Tom Hiddleston the next Robert Downey Jr.
It's gonna be a Loki vs the Loki behind He Who Remains at the end.
This season had so many heartfelt moments, I had goosebumps with most of the scenes. Great writing and cinematography.
The thing that I'm the most curious about after this episode is ob saying loki was one of the characters from his book
Penultimate episodes tend to be great while the finale tends to disappoint. I just hope this lands.
I love all the LOST / Desmond Hume parallels in Loki. Loki moving his mind through this body in time is also like Desmond in the episode the Constant
Some DJ trivia that furthers the vinyl record analogy:
1. the side of a record is physically one continuous groove…aka one timeline
2. some records made specifically for highly advanced DJ performance (aka turntablism) will contain a groove thats cut to loop back on itself, not run out at the end…’like snake eating it’s tail’
3. the most popular dj softwares use vinyl records containing an analog timecode that the dj’s computer converts to a digital signal to control music files. this allows a DJ to have the power to seamless move anywhere in the timeline but also loop and manipulate the audio…sort of like a TemPad.
I've been watching my subscriptions all day in the hopes of seeing this pop up, that episode was too incredible
I also wondered if Don’s wife was snapped, but he is on a branched timeline, so I wondered if there ever was a snap too!
The sacred timeline is the only one where Thanos is defeated but he snaps on infinite timelines.
@@SteelNight7I think there was only one outcome to defeat Thanos at the point when Doctor Strange used the time stone, so timelines branched before then could have different possible outcomes, but Doctor Strange was only looking at potential outcomes from their timeline. There also could have been other outcomes that didn't involve a snap, but were way less desirable in the long run
@@SteelNight7 Did you watch Dr. Strange: MoM? Because the earth-838 defeated Thanos too. And in What If, it's briefly mentioned that Gamora defeated him and took the infinity stones. Not sure where you're getting your info from
@@MsCuteangel44 I think timeline and multiverse aren't necessarily the same thing. Another universes can exist within the same timeline.
They are divorce!
I wasn’t a big Hiddleston/Loki fan but wanted to stay current on MCU but S2 of Loki has really turned me around. This is by far my favorite season of MCU expansions
I loved Loki mirroring the wacky waving inflatable tube man. A cute touch 😂
I love how Loki hesitates to give OB the TVA manual because of freewill and/or if it can bring more chaos or will help him reach his goal.
It’s been a really good character arc for Loki from being a villain to a loving friend
@@leed261 Why are people questioning Sylvie remembering Loki? I just assumed they both remember because they are gods.
There’s that scene where OB and Loki sit face to face in a bench. The circular doorway with two doors with two small windows looks like Miss Minutes.
Never been this early. Absolutely loving this show and these breakdowns!
Theory:
Loki and Sylvie create a “new”/The TVA.
This show is so much deeper then at first sight… nice
The attention to detail is *INSANE!* 😭
I wonder if Sylvie didn't spaghettify in the McDonald's timeline because that's not her original timeline, but spaghettified at the end of the episode because that was her original branched timeline.
OB and Victor getting TVA manuals to alter their futures made me think of Marty and Biff with the Sports Almanac in BTTF2.
In previous episode Obi says he was inspired by Victor timely but here he is actually inspired by Loki or it's just bootstrap paradox. And he who remains used this and made Obi a good servent to TVA and himself after erasing half his memory by replacing loki with Victor.
This show is the BEST kind of sci-fi - deeply philosophical, intricate, ,multilayered, with compelling, emotionally real characters. It makes you think, it draws you in, and it trusts that you will be able to follow, and, eventually, get it. Firkin brilliant.
The relation of the spaghettification of the universe to the nothing's devouring of existence in the neverending story is 😘👌
Bloody brilliant. your episode breakdown, the episode itself, the acting, the special effects, the subtext, the production design...such a wonderful TV show ! Thanks for unraveling its marvels to us !
I thought it was funny how Loki would time slip to Möbius’ branched timeline at the motor lot where he moves exactly how the inflatable tube man in the background.
I don't know if that moment at 21:35 was a mistake or not, but I LAUGHED HYSTERICALLY🤣
same 🤣🤣🤣 that shit was so funny 😆
i think they forgot to edit in his lines 🤣🤣🤣 hilarious blooper
About their original timelines; they're all branched! For example, B-15 may not have experience invasion or even Loki. Mobius wife may not have been snapped because Thanos may not have existed or occurred on their branched timelines
I love it I’ve been waiting you and your content love the show and your personality
I don't care how the last episode goes......Loki S2 os the best Disney+ show. Absolutely fantastic.
Finally.! I’ve been waiting on your breakdown allll day 🤣
Same!!!! 😂
Hearing everyone shotgun ideas, the one I like the best is the Avenger Prime aspect. Mostly because I can't see how Loki can downgrade himself from the power he has achieved.
avenger prime ?
All TVA agents comes from pruned branched timeline so that's maybe why
Heh! I also noticed how Loki was making himself presentable before going to Mobius. He didn't do it with anyone else, not even Sylvie...
The time theater 25 loki timelips to is also the same room he was watching his life play out in season 1 episode 1
Love love the Slaughterhouse Five nod. Absolutely my favorite piece of sci-fi of all time
Has anyone considered that OB could be a He Who Remains variant? The way they looked at each other when they met 😍, and even though he built that temporal aura reader, he may not have considered his aura would unlock the system.
I don't think so given he seemed happy to have visitors and collaborators both times he met Loki and Mobius "for the first time." Kang understands needing to have people around him but mainly to use as pawns rather than as actual teammates.
The awkward silence with Doug was priceless
The moment of silvie listening to the record is so very James Gunn style. Almost like a tribute to his impact on the MCU but is no more
20:31 I can't stress how loud I laughed when you started to explain how records work. Wow I'm old.
Watching this season I'm so into the cinematography. I'm going to rewatch it :) Love the story line and character build up. Can't wait for the the last episode!
When the record store employee handed her a record, I didn't see the cover for a second, and I wondered what song could be so important. Then it started up, and I was like, ohhhhh, that's so perfect.
I have a theory - Loki time slipping again and again in order to fix everything is gonna cause the birth of he who remains and all the other kangs. Loki is the god of chaos and he'll again bring Chaos unknowingly.
Thank for the breakdown ryan i know it late but im glad you putting out tonight 👍🏽
18:42 Gotta love your dedication to your recurring joke. This one made me crack up.
I wouldn't have gotten that slipping letter easter egg in a million years, and I love it.
What a episode the finale is gonna be unreal setting up the rest of the MCU.
Finally watched the episode after waiting for a friend, haha. I loved Loki's motivation. The bar scene for him and the Vinyl store scene for Sylvie were so, SO good.
Love how the directors show up as cameo. They could end up becoming the next Russo bros.
They even included the Director of Photography as that donut customer. 😊
Honestly the two reaction shots where I assume Doug was supposed to be speaking, is a lot funnier when he's just sitting there silently.
I wonder if Lokis actions would make him worthy of lifting mjolnir at some point in this saga
This Loki still had blood on his hands though, the battle of New York still happened and he still killed loads of people
Check out 16 mins into episode 5 and you see Loki standing in front of a door that shaped like Miss Minutes and Loki is the hands on the Clock hahaha.
I really feel Loki broke the 4th wall in that moment when he realized “It’s about who.”
Kinda spoke to me that Marvel is back to telling amazing stories for its fans ❤
at 20:30 why did u cut the cam to the dog? 😆😂😂 awkward xD edit : happened again at 21:37... somebody forgot to edit in the voice for the dog LOL
You forgot the most important Easter egg: subtitles confirmed O.B.'s real name is A.D. Doug!
HE'S CALLED DOUG!!! 🐶
What did you think of the episode?
very good
So much it’s happening! It’s the best marvel series for me! The twists and turns, the pie, Owen Wilson. What else do you need?
Amazing
I loved it I love lokis character development
Hi Ryan
It was a great episode
When Loki gets tased by OB he kinda wants to get him back, revealing the evil still in him but he controls it
Mobius riding jet ski on Möbius strip is some next-level merch making I have to say 😀 Great job!
Loki is litteraly becoming God of Stories Loki.
Your incorrect holding of a precious vinyl was giving me heart palpitations.
Is it just me, or did Doug lose his voice in the latter half of this video? Poor boy, hope he finds it
The Loki title card kept the “O” present longer to represent this series’ ouroboros
Love how Doug’s lack of commentary speaks for a lot of us
There's a brief moment when Loki timeslips back to the jet-ski shop before he talks to Mobius for the first time where he's standing in front of the inflatable tube man waving his arms around just like the tube-man is, lol.
I loved hearing Thunder in your Heart from the movie Rad while mobius was pretend riding the jetski
Do yall think that loki will fight a variant of kang in the last episode or will it just be a bigger setup for kang?
I think its gonna be a set up, I think he will just put the tva back and running
I think he'll fight a variant of himself, that's behind He Who Remains, like the comics. LOKI was creating the TVA, when he was skipping through the branched timeline.
