- How to set NVIDIA as default graphics card for Windows 10 computers and laptops working in 2024. Set dedicated graphics card instead of integrated. Hope this tutorial will help you to set your NVIDIA card as the default GPU in your system, this will greatly increase the FPS if you had this setting turned on to prefer the Intel HD built in, integrated graphics card.

Just got a laptop today at Best Buy, I was lucky to notice they used a prefered GPU instead of RTX, when I bought the laptop and asked them to changed it for me, theey required me to buy the membership in order to get that "service". You sir are very kind and helpful.

Just got a brand new laptop apart from integrated ..also comes with dedicated graphics card ( NVIDIA GTX 3050 Ti ). This tutorial video sure helps me a lot.

While gaming
Now rarely my integrated gpu hits 90
I gues my game quality and performance has also increased

Although your video is 4 years old, I never knew this information and it didn't occur to me until I checked and realized the entire time of owning a new laptop, it was running on the integrated card which is crap compared to the RTX 4080. Now my laptop runs properly so thank you again!

My default graphics card was the intel uhd graphics 630 and my second graphics card that I didn't used was the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 so I set my default graphics card as the Nvidia one

Yo I bought a Levono legion 5 recently, and I went into task manager and I saw that the integrated graphics were being used and the GTX 1650 TI wasn't even being used so this caught me in trees like why wasn't any activity happening on that graphics card, I saw this video and oh my God I thought I made the worst purchase because I was running it on the integrated radon graphics because it has a ryzen 5, and I switched it over to the 1650 TI, you don't believe how much of a breath of relief I had on the performance went up way higher, I honestly thought I was so much money but it's worth it, thanks your video helped me a lot :D

Okay, but what if i don't have the window "Preferred GPU"? The device manager reads that there is a 1060 installed and all but still at times there is 80% usage of integrated GPU and 0% of dedicated one and i want want everything to run on the Nvidia one.
I'm new to this video switching but for laptop I think everyone should consider using the integrated graphic card when their laptop is not plugged in to avoid battery drain.

this is no longer relevant in the newest versions of win 10. Now it says windows os now manages the selection of the graphics processor and just ignores what you had selected. Ive been trying to find a way to set the card as default in the new version but the best i can find is to set specific programs not everything.

I changed it to high-performance graphics card in preferred graphics processer but as i click apply it changes back to integrated graphics and doesn't give me an option to change it.

Been trying to figure out why my OBS, GeForce Experience, etc. wasn’t capturing even though it should have been fine given that I was using an Nvidia graphics card. Turns out, this entire time my monitor was plugged into the Motherboard and NOT the GPU port, and it’s ALL THANKS TO YOUR QUICK DISCLAIMER AT 4:27 THAT I REALISED IT. Can you explain why the NVIDIA Control Panel only has 3D settings, and not the Display settings? On my old laptop, I have a whole section to adjust the Display gamma, brightness, colors, etc. , but not on my new one. My new one looks like yours, with just the 3D settings.
