I’m an Orioles fan but come ON. it was so easy to see that Adell was safe
in colrado a walk off 3 days ago was denied due to aball in the seats the fan reached over and dropped it claiming interference on the fan they won next inning 2 1
Umpires wanna get out of there ,stomach was growling
yep he was safe
the first base view was definite the review says they had no angle to overturn as per mlb bad position by the ump wayne says definiyely safe
Orioles fan here. I guess Angel Hernandez was the replay official in New York today. Update: He was not in the umpiring crews from any of the games today. So he very well could have been the replay official.
didnt they have the first base view incorrect call by ny offical
Not enough evidence to overturn bud
@@Maddenmvp_yt They must have somehow not had the same replay(s) that the TV audience did. If so, that needs to be changed.
Ridiculous call from the umps. Disgusting call to end the game and they all should be fined. Cannot end a game on that especially when you replay the footage and still get the call wrong. Unbelievable.
with replay that cant happen first base angle clerly safe bs to review umpire thats why you cant bet much on these things or have both sides on a parlay with keys thats how i bet at least they have another batter up om sure wayne was talking about that at dinner and at home
when wayne was with howie he never was so mad
I think they weren’t entirely sure for some reason, they probably couldn’t tell exactly when the glove hit, and they just went with the call on the field because they weren’t 100% sure, maybe 95% sure though, but not 100% apperently
Exactly, with all these camera angles and still get it wrong. Replay judge needs to be Fired. 2nd base umpire was not in the correct position to make the call.
Nobody needs to be fired they need more angles it’s simple there’s been so many call this year and the angle is never right to change the call. They couldn’t see daylight between the glove and his leg when the tag was applied that’s why they didn’t overturn the call. He was safe but the call on the field was out so if they don’t have the evidence to overturn they won’t. It’s simple. We need better/more camera work. Need a way to run a top down camera like in the nfl. This isn’t even the most outrageous call of the year and everyone wants to fly off the handle. Ain’t like he was safe by a mile. Chill out.
What's the point of having the replay rule, if they're not going to look at the replay?
i think they are tired of being overturned and the offical blew it also standing up for the ump he was in bad position to see the foot come in first
I think the issue is the replay officials are 3 blind mice in new york
@@rogerrosen2323 No doubt.
@@reybat4969 - no, their money was on the Orioles, call stands they are in the money.
O’s fan here, clearly was safe, the umpire didn’t have the best angle in my opinion but probably called him out cuz the throw beat him there, doesn’t make it right. But what’s the point of the replay center if they’re not even gonna get it right? But I will say the O’s were screwed several times down in KC, so it evened out. But yea, I can understand the announcers’ frustration here
I totally agree. Look at where he's standing ....
WTF are the umpires looking at to call the runner out? What a joke on MLB for the jackass that determined the runner out with all the technology he had to review and make the right call. Good game to watch, but what a miss on the call.
the ump was behind and blew it but replay shd correct it it was safe easily not like a tag and foot at same time
good views without replay i caouldnt be sure but the 1st base view was clearly safe how do they say they arent sure im sure mlb will be seeing this but their own replay people said they arent sure no definitive view
@@rogerrosen2323 ...no, the 2nd base umpire was in perfect position, and didn't "blow" anything. He called what he had, and in real time, I had him out as well. That said, replay should have caught that.
@@metzilla he couldnt see the runners toes touch the base first in real time i could see how it was hard to see but the tage was higher not at the feet and he was safe as wayne says really the first base view was definite
@@rogerrosen2323bro you’re responding to all the comments?! Get a job
as an O's fan, I am greatful for the call. As a baseball fan this makes me sick to my stomach. There is too much technology in todays world for all these bad calls to keep happening. We have had several bad ones called against us already this season, I guess this one was a make-up call. Baseball is already having a hard time getting and keeping fans. Plays like this don't help much! Go O's!!
They probably wanted to go home lmao.
Wrap this game up f this Adelle kid, the only Adelle we know is the singer
- MLB Officials
I'm an Orioles fan and this is exactly why I hate replays in all sports. They take 20 minutes to make a call and still get it wrong. They should just let the officials on the field call the game, yes there were bad calls, but there are still bad calls, only now it takes 20 minutes to get a bad call.
replay corrects calls but reviews are wrong sometimes the angels had the first base view clearly safe not even a foot and a tag qjuickly
Orioles got screwed on a reply yesterday, Angel's got screwed today. These replay guys are a joke
Absolutely - both calls on the field were wrong, and neither was reversed! If the replay officials are simply protecting the umpires’ feelings, what the heck is the point of appealing? Sigh 😔
If that's the case, it's a receipt for sure. I didn't see or hear about the Orioles getting screwed. But it makes a lot more sense seeing they called Adell out here. That is a 100% tit for tat call
@@bigfloridapimp sad, but true! We are not far from having technology call balls and strikes, but will we always need umps making calls on the field? Who knows 😂
In my opinion replay in baseball is a joke. This call proves it. It was a close play, the live call was correct based on the ball beat him, the replay call was incorrect. Balls and strikes are being called based on the catcher framing the ball, runners being called out based on the ball beating them not the tag. Replay should be hits, home runs, and plays at the plate. I know the argument against it and it will never happen that way. I saw a play where the runner brought his hand up after hitting the base and the fielder held his tag, it went to replay and got called out after overturning the safe call. Not a fan of that type of replay.
As an Os fan, it’s hard for me to feel bad about this call considering what replay reviews have done to my team so far this year. This is the first one we’ve had go in our favor.
It was too close to tell! That wasn’t clear as day, I won’t even bother rewatching it 😅
Ridiculous!!! Umps just wanted to go home!
nah MLB just trying to make Baltimore seem good.
Union contract says umps can only work so many hours/minutes a game. They needed a break.
He was safe and I'm an O's fan
I would guess somewhere down the line, Carlos Torres (ump in New York) knew someone who placed a bet on Baltimore to win, and had the ability to determine the outcome of this game.
Seems to me the umpiring this year is really bad. Just saying. He looks safe to me after the replay the Angels got robbed.
It’s pretty much that it has to be egregiously wrong to overturn, not “merely” a little bit wrong.
So then why did mlb take away a hit from nolan schanuel against the orioles 6 days after the fact (happened earlier this month.) That wasn't an egregiously wrong call? Why did MLB change a call (a day later) and take away a steal from Jo Adell when he stole 3rd against the orioles this very week? And now this. It's ridiculous.
@@kellycastillo241 I don’t disagree with you. No one seems to understand what mlb is doing with the replay this year.
Wow, good thing for replays
100% safe. Zoomed in on highest quality thanks to TH-cam. How could MLB have any worse technical capabilities?
Not sure what's been worse so far this year, the Nike uniforms or the umpiring
Albuquerque Isotopes fan here. Just mentioning it since all the other comments seem to start with what type of fan they are.
I’m the orioles fan in here…and I’m here to say the umps in 2024 HAVE to be replaced. They are causing huge problems across the board. How many times have the umps screwed the orioles with bad calls this year?!? This is about the only ump call in our favour
I watched this live and was shocked MLB officials stuck with the “out” call. Manfred needs to clean this nonsense up. Not sure if they’re trying to protect the umpires or if there’s some other agenda. It’s such a bad look for MLB and it’s happening way too much. Enough!!!
did you see the slo mo on the coorado game 3 days ago they call fan interference on a hr claiming the fan reached over even though it was in the seats corado won anyway in 10th
@@rogerrosen2323 I didn’t see that play. At least the Rocks won and it erased a blown call.
This was almost as bad as the umps not calling fan intervene on Jeffrey Maier in the 1996 ALCS. Umpires are a joke.
What happened in 1996 was way worse!
Dude this one I do think u r really comparing apples to oranges yes I do have to agree with u that the call on the Angels was BS but there is no call that can be worse than the no fan interference call in the 1996 ALCS.
Angels have been on the losing end of bad umpire calls for years, but this is as bad as it gets. The replay crew in New York said that there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call, yet the broadcasters as well as fans at the game were able to determine that Adell was safe. Not sure what play the review crew in New York was watching but it sure as hell wasn't this one.
Just like O's fans have his one. They've been screwed by terrible umpiring for years.
It seems the umpiring has gotten worse since replay came into effect.
O's fan here but I'm surprised the would end a game this way. I could see if it was a 2nd inning play, but to shut the Angels down when they had the momentum is crazy. We were BIG TIME lucky there. But what goes around comes around in terms of luck in baseball
What happened was that the umpires had reservations at chillis with their boys, its hard to get reservations on a wednesday night
Why have instant replay when they get it WRONG!!!!
I should have said the tip of the side of the glove is touching the runner just above the knee in the post below.
They're essentially claiming that there's contact with the jersey fabric and the glove before he actually tags the runner's "body"
Contact between glove and jersey would constitute a tag.
@MwD676 right. If true, then the call is correct. So maybe there's not enough evidence to overturn it if they can't quite prove that the glove didn't touch the jersey first.
The guy was safe.
yes and a basehit could have tied it colrado game 3 days ago umps call inyterfernce when a fan reached over but the ball was in the seats they had a 1 0 win taken away but won 2 to 1 in 10 inn
Absolutely Adell was safe.
yes by a few seconds and a basehit was possible next
Lmao having replay & still getting it wrong. Then they wonder why the sport isnt popular etc
Probably more truth to this than you realize. I'm a very recent baseball fan (thanks MLB the Show 24) and in that time I've seen several total BS calls and I'm debating if its even worth caring about. Although this is by far the worst offender when it comes to inaccuratre calls.
@@sicketysix6357 the problem is baseball isnt “cool”. The ppl that try to bring excitement swagger etc are frowned upon by the older generations. If anyone thinks im watching baseball in april over going out to car shows etc or watching playoff hockey or basketball theyre insane
Im.an orioles fan he was safe
MLB messed this stuff up all the time. I was at an orioles game last year and there were two calls they got wrong and it was so clear when you saw the replay
I have been saying for years official reviews need physicists. The call they made was physically impossible. You see his fot hit the base and his foot torqued. You then see that the glove has not made contact with the uniform until a few frames after. If you have professional umpires who routinely screw up these calls in church of reviewing the play you lose all credibility.
I dont have a problem with the call on the field. It was a super close play and you could understand why the ump called him out. But that's what the replay is for, to fix the incorrect close calls. It seems they don't want to overturn their umpire calls I guess. I wonder if he had been called safe would they have also just let the call stand?
I thought he was safe and so did Jim Palmer during O's broadcast of this game yesterday. But so was Mullins last week in KC but the call didn't get overturned. Like it or not, MLB has been consistent. They're not gonna overturn a call unless they're 100 percent sure. If they're only 90% sure, they're not gonna overturn it. I knew the call was gonna stand as soon as I saw that they were taking a long time looking at it.
I'm an Orioles fan & I thought he was safe too. I kept replaying this & I continued to think the runner was safe but if you look at this at :41 it looks like the very tip of the glove may be starting to touch the runner just above the knee right before foot gets to the bag. At first even with the replay it looks like he's safe until you take a close look at :41.
Watched it about 10 times, looked like he was safe BUT…much much closer than everyone saying. Here’s why: not a single camera angle that conclusively shows he was safe. Dirt spraying above his shoe? It compacts and goes UP when the dirt hits the base. Not the shoe, the DIRT. The ONLY foolproof way to tell would be a center field or right field camera.
Orioles Fan here..... He was safe.... Horrible way to end the game.....
One of the worst replaye calls ever they need to make sure its right especially if it ends the game
Angels fan, yes we do exist !!!!!
We're struggling enough recently and now this terrible re play decision.
All we want is a chance to win, even if Adell was called safe there is no guarantee that Rengifo up next would get a base hit to tie the game up.
But with this call we'll never know.
From what my old 70 years old eyes saw, you could see Adell's right foot compression with 2nd base right before Henderson's tag in the stomach.
Why the replay official's couldn't see it ???
Shameful,horrible way to end a game !
On a positive note, my Angels will never quit this season regardless of their record, with their gamer mentality they are really re energizing their under rated fan base.
Second positive, The Baltimore Orioles are a really, really great young team !
With all of their talent and more in the farm system they are gonna be a powerhouse for a very long time.
If you're an Orioles fan, be proud of your team, you're gonna have alot of deep post season runs for a long, long time !!
Take good care everyone !
MLB should overturn this bullshit review and resume the game with a runner on second and 2 outs next time these teams play. I understand umpires aren’t perfect but this and the Boone ejection are unacceptable
That is garbage as Wayne said. Why have replay if they can’t even get it right half the time
Go Go adell from japan😎😎 ops 925!!! すげぇなアデルがんばれ~!
man.. if i didn't love the angels... id never watch baseball again.
Bro what!? New York explain yourself!
Yeah that’s bullshit
mlb looks at this and how does the replay not see that bs from review umpire radio said safe also
@@rogerrosen2323 I agree man I’m not sure what they are thinking
He was out, by a millisecond. It was close.
Someone in that New York office had some Fanduel bets placed on the O's. $5 bet gets you $150 bonus. Gamble now.
Man U gotta
Be kidding me !! He was safe !!!
Way to end an exciting game and potentially a comeback lol whats the point of replay...this seems to happen to the Angels more than most smdh
One way to end the announcers from giving these umpires and MLB such a hard time about the umpires is to stop giving them fodder. They have created a situation worse than steroids and it seems like it will never get fixed.
No definitive proof to overturn. Replay angles not clear enough. Definitely a bang banger.
I'd beg to differ. Think these replays show more evidence that he was safe than the call last week calling J-rod out at 1st (after being overturned).
Someone had a dinner reservation
You don't depend on the replay during a ball game you don't want to make the last out I call it stupid baseball you better steal standing up with no throw. Not make the last out of the game or depend on a replay
It was way too close to overturn.
lol mlb officiating is getting corrupt, even the replay guys in ny need to be on the hot seat too
it wasnt even close like a swipe and foot sliding ist base look ump didnt see foot he was on other side why did replay blow it
Clearly safe .
As an angels fan i can say that that was the dumbest bull shit ever
I agree. Shouldn’t have been trying to steal in that situation
Oriole fans are still waiting for Gunner to apply the tag?
⚾️
A joke? That’s not how jokes work.
Remember the name Jo Adell...
Big Dodgers fan here but I like the Angels ....second favorite team I'll attend Angels games here and there just to watch Mike Trout...there problem since Trouts rookie season has been Pitching owners of the Angels always concentrate on signing big contracts for everyday players but not pitchers I believe the angels are giving up almost five runs a game this year again the era stats Never Lie...Get rid of Redons contract go after good big league pitching...most successful teams era are under 4 runs per game..
the fix is in 🤦♂️
Ump watching tik toks instead of the replay
Honestly as an Orioles fan, that was a terrible call. What did they see to not overturn that call?
im sure mark and wayne were talking about it at dinner just like in colrado 3 days ago video shows a ball in the seats to win game but umps say interference even though it wouldnt have been caught fans neeed to leave ball alone it was close maybe he eached over
No question. SAFE!
That's just disrespectful.
The league is a joke if it can't get that right on review ... especially with all those angles. what a shame!
Given how Adell has been been making bonehead decisions on the bases lately, even if he was called safe, he'd still step off the base to be tagged out at some point.
The umps were hungry didn't want the game prolonged and called it a day
not always in colrado a walk off 1 0 was denied because of fan interference the ball was in the seats anyway and won 2 to 1 in 10 so not always do they want to eat
He was safe.
Angels are terrible. 2 days later they're down 2 runs bottom of 8th 2 men on and the last 2 outs are guys LOOKING at third strikes. Just piss poor.
It wasn't that clear at all.
Safe, it was close though.
the first base angle showed he was safe the ump was on the other side couldnt see foot from that position 100 pct safe
Simple: Baltimore is in playoffs Anaheim is not
I guess the umps just wanted to end the game and go home because they were tired. I think it might be time for robot umps in MLB. 😠⚾
What is going on with this entire sport???!! The officiating has become so bad it's close to unplayable and unwatchable.
Safe! Safe! Safe! Safe! Safe! Safe! Safe!
Was he safe: yes
Am I glad the O’s won: yes
Orioles fan here. Bad call.
safe, this was a very bad call.
I know that the betting Empire is taking over sports...and know I just lost trust in all officiating across all sports
That’s BS someone needs to get with these umpires & fix this. But I’ll tell you were it got really bad. Is when MLB put in instant replay. Because using it, it’s no good. The dumb umpires call a runner out when he is safe clear as day. 🤬🤬🤬
Seems like it's rigged or something
Safe
Umps are desperately trying to keep their jobs, so anything "close" will be called their way.
Wouldn’t have mattered, they would still have lost. Angels are terrible

MLB giving games to BAltimore.
I am an Orioles fan I have watched this video many times, it was a very close call. The Orioles have been in situations where there have been mismanagement by umpires for years, even if he was safe there were 2 outs with one of the best closers on the mound, the Angels still would have lost the game and the series
What a joke. What good is replay when these idiots reviewing it are getting it wrong.
As an angels fun, this team is a joke, but the MLB is a major desaster atm. Uniforms and the unping be two, this league is a joke. This call was bullshit and the league is full of it.
As a lifelong orioles fan I couldn’t agree more, one of the worse replay calls I’ve seen, so obviously safe makes me even more mad at the umps in this league and the league as a whole. On top of all the other bs the mlb is pulling
Pretty terrible slide to be honest . Can see why they said the call stands . Video angle shows nothing to over turn the call .
