Key Lesson: • Testing Improves Retention: The most effective way to retain and master information is not repeated studying but repeated testing. Testing strengthens the neural circuits associated with memory retention, even if the initial test performance is poor. • Repeated Exposure Fosters False Confidence: Simply rereading or restudying material multiple times gives a false sense of mastery. Students often feel more confident but actually perform worse compared to those who test themselves frequently. • Low Performance on Initial Tests Doesn’t Mean Failure: Even if students score poorly on early tests, the process of self-testing still improves long-term retention and understanding. It's more about the practice of retrieving information than getting it right the first time. • Effort in Learning Yields Better Results: Straining to recall information, even when getting it wrong initially, is more beneficial for long-term mastery than passively absorbing material. • Active Recall is Essential: The process of retrieving information actively (through testing) is a powerful tool for solidifying knowledge, compared to passive learning strategies like restudying. • Challenge is Key: Testing and facing difficulty while learning creates a stronger and more durable memory of the material. The discomfort of being tested is actually part of what makes learning more effective.

Can you make a video on study techniques for UPSC which is an Indian civil service exam? It’s just that it’s a year long exam and I think consistency plays a great role and can you make a video on how to be more consistent and how to study so many subjects all at once.
Can you make a video about memory techniques that actually work very strongly and also in the same video do discuss encoding methods that work extremely well for maths based subjects

Really, well said sir, i appreciate the way you approach the tests, all your words are damn 100% true.

Testing only benefits me when the questions are varied because I have tendency to memorize the correct answers.
We always neglect the fact that we must recall it. That's why we fail to learn the material.
