Active matrix was always way to go, my first was like yours being a Toshiba 400 series with DSTN, the ghosting was annoying....on the pastics --- is not really anything to do with the laptop build, but the degrading and then becoming brittle over the years, it just seems to 300 series of IBM Thinkpads are the worst with that situation. The 700 series seems to have a better build, possibly with some metal re-enforcements in key areas.
@@pentiummmx2294 After purchasing 3 of them, this last one I restored will be the last, I am just curious if anyone had that problem when they were new. My current one resides on a shelf, it just stays opened and ready to use, I don't dare close the lid knowing darn well what will likely happen. That being said, in all fairness most the laptops from that era all suffer from the cracking around the hinge area, including my Tosh 400CDT and Compaq LTE5000, the Compaq seems to be the strongest/sturdiest of the three. As I said, I own a 755CD series which is very similiar in form factor, and the plastic and hinges are holding up far better than most of them, although that laptop is currently having some type of issue with the display which I guess may need re-capping at this point in time.

@@IJDM i swear, the thinkpad 365s have the worst plastic among all thinkpads, they seem to be the most brittle of all laptops i have put my hands on.

@@IJDM i do feel that the 365s are basically a more cheaply made version of the 755 with a ESS sound chip and mono sound
@@IJDMmy 365XD just crumbled to pieces, RIP that laptop. i did just grab a Thinkpad 560 to go alongside it before the 365XD decided to break
