I feel so much more MYSELF now at 80! I dress the way I paint. With FEELING. I create my style outside of what the "IN" fashion is. I even mend my old expensive clothes to make them look funky because I have become too poor to buy quality as I once could afford. I wish I had been as confident when I was young as I am today with nothing to lose. Besides, now I meet a lot of young people at the 2nd hand shops who have become friends. That keeps my spirit fresh like vitamins for health! I do not like my body but I accept it and believe it is important to be humble in doing so because many old people are alone and too troubled to care.
Just turned 50! And though still ( young) I see how society is now treated. And how this year how much my face has changed. I do feel ashamed! I’m working on this. Thank you

Watching someone who has aged so well and who genuinely looks beautiful is so helpful. Actually, I found the interview quite moving - and I think that seeing Judith looking so lovely in pale pastel soft satin - helped me to see myself more kindly.
Yes, totally agree w/you on this interview being so encouraging. Hair thinning is the worst. I'm dealing with it as well. Recently, I've been playing with wigs...I like 'em a lot. Maybe try on a few to see if they work for you. Think of (them) as a fun new accessory. Can't hurt, right? Go get 'em pal!💃❤

I am fighting "getting older" every step of the way...3 guesses as to who is winning (that) fight? Keeping it even (more) real, I was never the smart girl, the clever girl, or even the funny girl. Yep, you guessed it...I was the "pretty-girl"....Always impeccably dressed, fabulous hair & tasteful makeup, (&) that girl who managed to incorporate classic pearls into every ensemble. My moto: "Pearl's are appropriate with denim (or) an amazing ball gown!" Think about it! But I digress... Ok, aging at an OK pace...(Then) 2020 knocked me & most of my gal-pals for a loop. Yikes! Yep, you guessed it... 🗣THAT DREADED MASK!😷 (As if our well-earned seasoned skin didn't have enough worry & stress lines to contend with) Ladies, I dont know your experience with it...But that ding-dong mask made my face age (even more) in the past year, than raising my kids through their teenage years. As Ashton Applewhite writes in her book, "This Chair Rocks: A Manifesto Against Ageism", ageism is about how people in power (cosmetic industry, plastic surgery industry, etc.) assign meaning to how we look. Aging is not a problem to be solved or corrected.
We are works of art. Society, at any given time, will seek to define it. I say we are born of corruptible seed. But that does not mean at a certain point we spend what time is left trying to change that. I choose to accept it, and decorate with color and personality, the journey to incorruptible seed... But that's another topic. I am 66, embracing age, and I do not mind at all the term "eccentric".
I’m 68 and yes this is me my thumbnail picture everyone ages differently I feel that when we were young we didn’t think about aging we saw older people and didn’t think about one day we would be old and look old. Aging is a process that every living thing is going to do unless you’re dead already. Even our houses and furniture gets old the new wears off and what do we do we paint it or polish it to make it look better. I wear makeup because I love makeup and I love how I look when I wear makeup I also love the way I look when I don’t wear makeup I look plain and not polished but I Don’t care 🤷🏽♀️ and I could care less what others think. So my thinking is DO WHATEVER makes you happy if you don’t like it don’t complain about it do something about it and like everything else in life you teach your daughters and sons about life and believe me they are smart .... you can’t believe everything you see in magazines or television they know about filters just like they no Superman can’t fly teach them at a young age to love themselves I know as a Black Woman going up in the South in the 60s and 70s that mostly all you saw beauty was blue eyes and blond but my mother taught me at an early age to love my Blackness my hair and nose 👃 and large lips 👄. So I say I’m going to embrace my age at every age because aging is an attitude this is life so let’s get over ourselves and just embrace and forget about it. I know there is no cream that will take away my wrinkles but it might help and if I decide but I probably won’t I will get cosmetic surgery or whatever that makes me feel good about me. I feel women talk about aging just way to much. You look absolutely gorgeous you will probably be a gorgeous woman at 98. 💐
Social constructs tell us that wrinkles, the impact of gravity, brown spots, etc. are unacceptable and are to be avoided or put off as long as possible. This is what keeps the billion dollar cosmetic industry alive. We allow "them" to assign meaning to how "we" look (Ashton Applewhite, "This Chair Rocks".) Let's all embrace and love every change that comes about in our physical aging. This requires a conscious effort to acknowledge and then reject our internalized ageism.

My mom was just 65 she looked very old she had more wrinkles this woman looks very young actually
