      @@BainCustom That's rly cool, will check other videos for more accurate colours calibration! Do you know if there is big difference of colours and black between the GP850 and GN850? some youtube video reviewed that the GP has better blacks and more realistic shadows in a picture, wonder if thats true or was just different monitor calibration.

    When I bought LG 32GP850 it was nearly perfect out of box but gamma was slightly incorrect which was a bit low which mean gamma shift toward more lighter side. So the i1 Display Pro correct it to 2.2 instead of below 2.2 to restore gamma to where it should have been and the black got better. I know it has IPS glow which is annoying but I get used to it. I set brightness to 29 to match with 160cd/m2 and it looks better than at default of nearly 400 cd/m2 which is too high for my eyes and is not comfortable like glaring that makes me wear sunny. lol! Although I am not too happy with black stabilizer in gaming, not as good as Samsung for eg especially dark game like Minecraft. When I tune to 60 in black stabiliser, it looks more like hazy. So it puzzled me.

    That’s true about overdoing the settings same thing applies to TV sets. Just because the setting slider can go to max doesn’t mean it’s right for your viewing. Gotta factor in lighting if you game in an area that always bright and sunny you want to turn those settings up so your screen is bright or else it’ll be washed out. If you game in your mothers basement where it’s mostly dim and dark turn down the settings your eyes will actually thank you but the screen will be bright enough already. Colour is big a natural image that looks good should be slightly washed out so dial back the colour until it’s looking washed out and then boost it up a couple notches me personally like little pop. But too much is unrealistic. Sharpness good god do not turn it up it ruins the image so much brightness and contrast a good one for brightness is turn off all the advanced settings and find an image completely black now it’s good to do this in a dark room with no other lights on. Turn up the brightness until the black image starts too look grey and washed out then dial it back just until the image goes back to being black. The trick is you don’t wanna turn it down too much or you’ll have a dark image brights will not be bright and dark scenes will be too hard to see. Contrast is the opposite but find an image with clouds in the sky against a white background. Trick here is to still see those white cloud against the white background if the clouds disappear into the white background dial it back until it just pops back into view. All the other features just enhance the image in different ways but the main ones I touched on are the most important works for TV sets and monitors

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had the same issue. It is mainly because the xbox does not use the same color parameters for 1440p as 4K and 1080p. Sometimes changing the color settings from RGB to PC in the xbox video settings will help. But ultimately, it depends on the game and how well a monitor can be calibrated.

It’s absolute trash imo. I like it cool and I love hdr “even if it’s only 400 certified” on my aorus f127q and I being lg thinks they know best won’t allow you to adjust the colors while hdr is enabled I’m stuck with a super yellow tint screen. I tried the windows calibrator and it still has that ugly tint lingering over the icc profile... srgb mode I can get rid of it but with hdr being on lg won’t allow you to adjust anything besides brightness and sharpness with a premium $1,000 monitor the monitor is no good to me... My old Asus and benq tn panels look better by a mile. Such a huge let down.

    Thanks for the video. I do disagree about this monitor for next gen consoles. This monitor accepts a 4K signal and outputs 1440p at 60 Hz for Ps5, but also allows for supported games like Cold War to run 1080p at 120Hz. The version without usb goes for $350 on amazon. Future HDMI 2.1 monitors that can run 4K at 120 Hz will likely cost around $1000. I feel it provides good value and flexibility for next gen consoles.

      Absolutely! I do appreciate the input, and I agree with you after some time has passed. Initially I thought there would be some better options coming down the pipeline. Do note that you need to turn off Freesync to get 1440p @120hz on the Xbox Series S/X. The freesync range on your model (LG 27gl83a-b) is only 48hz - 100hz on HDMI (what the XBOX and Playstation use) but on a DisplayPort it is 48hz -144hz. This isue is also with the LG 27gl850-b and the LG 27gn850-b models. So be aware that you need to turn it off, otherwise you only get 1440p @60hz with freesync on.

      Are you using hdmi or dp? I know that's a dumb questions, but I have to ask. I am sure you have tried a lot of calibrating, but making sure the pixel response and frame rate are set to match the GPU & Monitor is important. is Gsync on or off?
      My concern would be that if this is a 10-bit with dithering panel, while active using HDR you could see a flicker if the frames start to drop. It may not be noticeable at higher frames. This can be reasonably fixed with a proper tune to the gpu and monitor (different for each setup).
      Just to note, be sure HDR is on in windows, no background apps are up while gaming and all drivers are up to date. Don't use the HDR preset on the monitor, it's not HDR.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory if the adapter is of hdmi 2.1 and the cable itself is 2.1 than it may work. But there could be handshake issues there. There are many ways to convert a video signal, but each one has some issues. I feel your pain, but would doubt that this connection type would be enjoyable out of the gate.

    • @Slykillful
      @Slykillful 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You only need HDMI 2.1 to get 4K @ 120hz, which I do not believe any console will be able to achieve natively. Not even the new 3080s can do this consistently. I believe HDMI 1.4 can do 1080 @ 120fps and 1440p @ 75fps but you might want to double check that first.

      So I tested this monitor on the PS5. Yes I did find that 1440p is not supported. At the time there were no games with 120 Hz available, however it did work at 60 Hz no problem. I didn't expect that to be an issue whatsoever. But because the PS5 doesn't support 1440p yet, I would imagine at 1080p you will get 120 Hz.

    You can do this with alot of monitors, and im sorry but if you're going to calibrate your screen buy a decent calibrator for around a 80 or spend more if you want perfect perfection, but an 80-90ish calibrator will do 89% what a nore expensive one will do and do it right the first time and actually see the content the way the creator actually intended it to be seen, fhats what I thought this ad was, but its just a video about microsoft windows 10 built in calibration tool for quick and dirty fixes, theres thousands videos about this, you put in the work so thats good dont loose that, but actually use a proper tool, amazon has them for cheap ish like 80$ for an actual decent one, you'll be so much happier and you'll actually know what your values for srgb dcip3 Adobe color space your delta e, of course youll get those depending if your monitor supports those values, basically you will get the value readouts that your monitor supports and you'll knowbwhere you stand, i auppose quick and dirty this works, actually no knowbthat i think about it, bevause if you calibrate and one tike of day its going to be different for another, if you play your game in the dark and then turn the lights on its gonna be ehhh, again tools calibrate to a constant flat lightning, just buy a calibration tool if youre serious about calibration, and try this I guess for a very very temporary holdover.

      Soon to be the new OLED from LG. But for what's readily available and generally a consumer style monitor...take your pick of the higher end of LG, Acer, Asus, Samsung, Viewsonic and so on. They all generally use the same tech and some even use the same panel. My money would be on LG's ultragear, Samsung's Odyssey and the Predator lineup.

    Im on a LG Ultragear 34GN850-B. During the brightness calibration. No matter how dark I go I cannot get that X to actually disappear. I can achieve the "recommended look", but im wondering if not being able to go that dark is a greater underlying issue. Im okay if the monitor just cannot produce good blacks. • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Have you turned the contrast ratio down to achieve this? I believe there is also a black level setting, I can't recall what the name is of that setting at the moment. I vaguely remember being able to get the x to disappear.
