Your reviews are actually so good, not even looking to buy this monitor but I can see this being extremely helpful to anyone with their buying decision :0
I picked this monitor up thanks to the review! (Also because Best Buy only had this in stock!) Been loving it so far! This is my first higher refresh monitor which is leagues better compared to my old monitor which was locked at 59.1hz with like 12ms response time.
A really well-made review. Straight to the point, informative, and being entertaining at the same time. Been looking for a good 144hz 1080p monitor and stumbled upon this video. Not the one I'm looking for but a great find. The shocking part about this is your subscriber count; based on the production quality, way you talk and how you managed to stretch the vid to 10min while still being entering made me think that your subscriber count would be higher. You got a new sub from me.
Got one used for 300 on craigslist! Mine has no noticeable ips glow. Man this is one vibrant monitor - makes up for the low contrast ratio. Currently using it with the ps5 with a 4k signal, couldn’t be happier!! Thanks for the review!
This was probably the most useful monitor review I've come across....it's so VERY hard to pick one based on reviews without ever having seen for myself what it all means. I bought a VG27AQ Asus TUF, and performance at the 60hz level was worse than my cheap 60hz 1080p unit I have.....I have returned it, but now I can't find a 27GL850 new as they're all sold out. I missed out on Black Friday because I don't like getting these things shipped to me.
2:10 No, thank you. I not only stayed for the rest of the video, I also subscribed. What I love about this video is that you not only show numbers, but also discuss real world scenarios as well.
happy to see a review on the GN model, all I could find was GL videos. I just bought the GN and panicked after I realized it was different. Luckily it really isn't much different. I also just ordered a gaming PC so very excited to see how it all goes. Awesome video!
It uses the same panel as the GL850/GN850 so performance from a panel standpoint should be nearly the same. Wouldnt mind a review anyway as i have the Y27 myself. 😀
Great review mate thumbs up! i am between this and LG 27GN800-B but the (800) is 100euro cheaper.Do you think the 850 has anything special to it ? I cant find any difference on the web.please enlighten me
I know this is an old video, but it helped me purchase this. Also thank you for uploading your colour profile... No way I would've been able to get it so precise! Looks crisp now!
Keep up the amazing work man. You turned into one of my favorite reviewers. Super professional and you tell us everything we need to know and more unlike other reviewers. Much love
This was the frontrunner in my list when I was recently buying a monitor but I managed to find a sick deal on an Acer XV273K for 400€ which combines 4k with 120Hz and 27" at a reasonable price. I bought it as the "do-it-all" monitor that would offer me 4k graphics while also offering a respectable 120Hz refresh as most 4k monitors are capped to 60Hz which is just awful if you've ever had more. It's obviously not a CS:GO monitor as you never want 4k for that game, but you can still play it well enough if you aren't doing it for a living. And man this is bliss in games where FPS isn't all you care about. If you are interested in 4k monitors, might want to check the XV273K out at some point. It's a bit of a "love it or hate it" monitor that tries to combine 4k, good colors and high refresh rate with an affordable price, and that does a very good but not perfect job at it. I've been impressed. You probably aren't too thrilled because 4k really eats a lot of FPS and isn't designed for high paced competitive play, but in many games 120Hz is really all you need and a pretty picture is nice to have.
pixel overdrive is basically they made more input voltage to made pixel change faster but with fastest overdrive, the color will go beyond from the target because of voltage, and the monitor will try to correct by revert back to target, that result in invert ghost.
already got at home but since i am waiting for my gaming pc, i still found it useful to watch this. not that i would change the black equaliser, but neat to know if. and the colour accuracy as well.
You completely fooled me at 5:53, man, I thought the video was just going on like before xD and it appeared to be the monitor instead of your camera :D Since the quality positively fooled me I'll be definitely choosing this monitor. Or the GP one for a little bit more expensive for the better menu, and bigger refresh rate.
Lmao at the pain Olympics reference. Great content as always, glad I can help that watch time statistic lol. One small suggestion; I feel that a side by side view of the blurbusters alien would be more beneficial than a back to back view. It should offer viewers a more direct comparison between the two results. Just a suggestion but I hope it helps!
Thank you! I notice Hardware unboxed does that as well. I also thought of doing that, just trying to figure out a way to put it in the video nicely in a way I'd like it. I just like giving you guys that anticipation ;)
Recap on Nanocell.... it's a quantum dot display, and most quantum dot materials aren't even made by the main manufacturers. It changes light by scaling tiny particles so that you get a more accurate color being introduced into the LCD panels that switch those RGB gates, in this case via a In Plane Switching panel. I think they want to differentiate from standard Quantum Dot displays though as many of them are VA.
Good review. I just purchased two of "last year's" model - the 27GL850-B, and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Congrats, your video is the first one to be seen on my new gear. I spent many hours researching what was available, and what best suited my computing behaviour (mostly productivity, some gaming). The model you reviewed came up a few times during my research, but at the end of the day, this particular model seems almost impossible to get in Canada at the moment. Another reason why I opted for the 27GL850-B, as it is readily available here. At the end of the day, I don't think you can go wrong with either model, and the average user is going to be hard-pressed to pick out the visual differences (aside from the slight design change to the stand). Surprised to hear there is no software to control your monitor's controls - checked LG's site, and definitely no software to be downloaded. Perhaps this is a leg-up for last year's model as there is LG software that can be installed to control some of the OSD settings, as well as provide other interesting features on "last year's" model. These monitors will serve me well for the next 10 years, right around the time for me to retire from the computing industry. By that time, I will have forgotten more than I'll know. :-D
Someone just mentioned that last years model had a software OSD so maybe this one does. When I checked the download page for the monitor, it wasn’t there so I assumed it didn’t exist.
@@BijanJamshidi It is possible the new model doesn't have the capability. LG could have removed the hardware that allows the software to communicate with the monitor. Only one way to find out for sure - download the OSD software for the 27GL850-B and install it. If it controls your monitor, then LG kept the functionality the same. Let us know what you discover. This software package is generic in the sense that it isnt just for one model....it will support other LG monitors. I just don't know which ones.
Tbh I felt extremely good when you said I will help out the channel by watching the entire vid. (Was gonna do that anyways) 💯🤷♂️💙💙 Very informative video, thanks.

Only this gn which seems to be very similar to the gl but cheaper. Planning to buy one as it is cheaper with black friday But there was no other reviews for it but you! Good review with good info 👍
Bijan will you review the LG 27GP950 that came out a few days ago? Its the first real HDMI 2.1 gaming monitor and could spark some interest, especially from the console community. Outside of that i would like to thank you for pretty much always showing the pixel response time for several refresh rates (60, 144, 240, ...). You are basically the only one who does that! Knowing that a monitor has excellent motion clarity on 240hz for my PC is great, but lots of people would also like to know how it performs at say 60hz or 120hz when using the monitor with a console or or 4k games in general! Also the comparisons with similar monitors are always top notch, keep up the good work!
Most manufacturers have an extra high overdrive just so they can advertise a 1ms response time, knowing that most people don't actually know what that means and it looks more attractive on the box
*I JUST bought the LG27 GL83 model and got it a few days ago and I LOVE it, although i'll have to admit not sure why the 90 degrees ability BUT...i love that 144Hz*
Awesome channel, keep up the amazing content your subscribers are gonna growth exponentially. I hope you can get your hands on a 27gn950 when it comes out.
Watched a fair few reviews on this Monitor after looking for an Upgrade from My 1080p 60hz BenQ ZOWIE i have had for a few years now, which has been great, however took the dive and decided to upgrade, picked this up today and WOW what an upgrade this monitor is paired with the new Xbox Series X, crystal clear picture, sharp and vibrant colours also ultra smooth framerate when gaming on FPS/Driving games, currently priced at £339 brand new from Currys PC World’ i think it’s a steal for a monitor that has so many quality features on par with alot more expensive monitors on the market 👍🏼
I have this monitor and a i can say personally love it. The only issue I have with it, is when its first turned on, it has a moire screen artifact thing going on that will dissappear after about 10 minutes. Might just be my unit and it's really only noticeable at low refresh rates and does always go away once it's "warmed up". Other than that mine seems to have better contrast than the gl850 reportedly has. I ended up with this monitor after owning both it and the viewsonic xg270qg, which had abysmal contrast and terrible light bleed. Great review!
@@BijanJamshidi I hope that's not the case. I did find others with this issue on different displays. Nevertheless it's my favorite display thus far and it has a warranty. I'll surely report it if it does lead to other issues.
@@matthew9739 I no longer own it, but I think it was a great display. I sold it to a friend and they are loving it just as much. I have signed upgraded to the Samsung G7A 28" 4k 144hz.
Just got this monitor in today and the vignetting is driving me CRAZY. It looks like there's a Photoshop radial gradient on top of everything and on YT for example the left 5-7 cm are more pink while the right side is more cold-grey.
@@BijanJamshidi Yeah maybe I'm just unlucky? Or I'm very sensitive to it/bothered? Here you can see what I mean: imgur.com/gallery/xOFO4aT I could try replacing it with the same model maybe Thanks for your reply!
I watched your reviews on both LG 850 and Dell s2721. I got my s2721 today and noticed the ghosting issue when using the setting of "Extreme". It makes me feel better to find that both monitors have the same issue and I probably don't need to return my monitor lol.
Seriously thinking of buying this monitor this weekend. I got a new gaming desk and my current BenQ Mobiuz EX2510 just feels incredibly small now. Best But has almost 30 of these in-stock so I'm going to pull the trigger. I can still return the Benq and recoup most of my money back
@@BijanJamshidi Grabbed one and already loving it. Kind of surprised it doesn't have a cable management system like LG used with the cylinder stand but I can live without it. Luckily got one with zero dead pixels or any other issues
@Bijan Jamshidi there is a LG OnScreen Control software for this monitor and I have it install on my PC. You don't have to control everything from the nipple you can do it via software
I heard from some other comments. When I did the review, LG didn’t have the software on their page for the monitor. Not sure why. For that, I assumed they had none.
I would really appreciate to have a sum up of all the settings to use for this screen. You mentioned some like HDR off or the response time when bellow 144Hz and higher than 144Hz but what for the sharpness, colors and all of the others settings
Holy crap I forgot to mention the gamut coverage. So I’ll put it here.
sRGB - 100% w/ 135% Gamut Volume
Adobe RGB - 85% w/ 93% Gamut Volume
DCI P3 - 93% w/ 96% Gamut Volume
I also forgot to mention in the small details that the little hook on the back of the stand is for holding cables, though it doesn't really hide them.
Enjoy! Let me know what things I should change to improve future videos!

All the explanations are really helpful! Thanks for the review!
Awesome channel, keep up the amazing content your subscribers are gonna growth exponentially. I hope you can get your hands on a 27gn950 when it comes out.
I wanna try that out so bad
Great review. Thank you very much! Learned tons!
Nice review mate, appreciate the honest feedback and knowledgeable opinion.
I enjoyed the video. Appreciate the humour and frankness.
Damn i love it when the screen moves when u say viewing angles djfjksksa
How dare you make me remember pain olympics
😂😂
i got the 3070 so i might get the 4k model once i upgrade my pc to a new card in like 3 years
I have this monitor and a i can say personally love it.
That sounds like it might be bad, though I'm not sure. That happened to my dads Sony TV a few years back before it suddenly died.
@@BijanJamshidi I hope that's not the case. I did find others with this issue on different displays. Nevertheless it's my favorite display thus far and it has a warranty. I'll surely report it if it does lead to other issues.
@@mxracer0327 is it any good
@@matthew9739 I no longer own it, but I think it was a great display. I sold it to a friend and they are loving it just as much. I have signed upgraded to the Samsung G7A 28" 4k 144hz.
Helpful video, ordered as a secondary today :) thank you
All monitor producers should add software that does automatic profile change according the programs which Alienware do.
Amazing review! Earned a new sub!
Just got this monitor in today and the vignetting is driving me CRAZY. It looks like there's a Photoshop radial gradient on top of everything and on YT for example the left 5-7 cm are more pink while the right side is more cold-grey.
I don’t remember if the LG had that, but I didn’t remember having it when I used it.
Err. I didn’t notice it.
@@BijanJamshidi Yeah maybe I'm just unlucky? Or I'm very sensitive to it/bothered? Here you can see what I mean: imgur.com/gallery/xOFO4aT
I could try replacing it with the same model maybe
Thanks for your reply!
I watched your reviews on both LG 850 and Dell s2721. I got my s2721 today and noticed the ghosting issue when using the setting of "Extreme". It makes me feel better to find that both monitors have the same issue and I probably don't need to return my monitor lol.
Yea I have this LG and at extreme the ghosting is confirmed horrible.
Just caught the pain olympics reference. I too was raised on the internet when it was the wild west...
Dude, this is a good review!
This looks awesome. How does this compare with the LG 27GN800-B?
Seriously thinking of buying this monitor this weekend. I got a new gaming desk and my current BenQ Mobiuz EX2510 just feels incredibly small now. Best But has almost 30 of these in-stock so I'm going to pull the trigger. I can still return the Benq and recoup most of my money back
Hell yeah dude!
@@BijanJamshidi Grabbed one and already loving it. Kind of surprised it doesn't have a cable management system like LG used with the cylinder stand but I can live without it. Luckily got one with zero dead pixels or any other issues
Which are the calibration settings?
The "Faster" issue only came up with HDR on for me.
