Hi Lexi. I am glad you discovered Matt. He is a hidden gem. If you are interested in more great Australian musicians, The Teskey Brothers are amazing. I would suggest "Rain" and "Hold Me" (Live at the Forum) to start off.
Seen him live 3 times. Heart melted 100 times. Special boy. And apart from his insanely good voice, crisp guitar skills..I will admit..those eyes are very dreamboaty 😁✌🏼❤️
I love contrast in vocals. it has such an almost instinctual beauty and meaning to any song. Light and dark, playing out in such a way. this guy gets it.

I stumbled upon Matt Corby when he did a cover of a Christian song that I can’t currently recall with Hillsong ages ago. I want to say something like 12 years ago. He’s probably one of the best live performers of our time. Don’t really understand why he’s not more mainstream but I kinda like it that way. He’s like a hidden gemx100!!

Yo, the first song I ever heard him sing live was How Great Is Our God. I don’t think I’d heard the song y’all just shared, but gosh. I’ve been praying for him since Brother came out. As someone who ran relatively closely in his circles, he took the blame for someone else & said Brother was about his mistake when it was someone else’s that he respected & didn’t want to spread gossip. If you can tell the difference between someone coming from a place of hurt (this) & someone coming from a place of shame (from which he would probably cry) it’s pretty clear. He never wanted to share what it was about either, triple J did a competition to find out. Made me sick TBH. Alas, I believe he is genuinely finding his feet with his faith again after numbing himself for years & finally getting to a breaking point which has given us his last 2 albums that are far more aligned to the worldview of his youth.

@@storytimewithyaz That’s crazy but I can believe that. So much goes on behind the scenes of these big name churches like Hillsong. Everybody wanting to move up the ladder and get the big stage so taking said blame would instantly cause him to be outcasted. All we can do is pray for him and hopefully he will find his way back.
@@mustang9549 exactly right! Have if you listen to some of his newer stuff like For Real I think you’ll see the roots coming back in. He’s also been writing & collaborating with the boys from Hollow Coves who are Christian & looks so genuinely happy in the reels they’ve posted about their process. If he’s not there yet, he’s close & has a lot of people praying for him!
I always love when I find yet another reactor who has just found Matt! Especially if that reactor actually understands how the human singing voice works, and who also has a stunning singing voice them (her) self! I have subscribed! Looking forward to seeing more reactions to Matt and many other incredible Aussie singers.

I love how you can still see the same kid that auditioned for Australian Idol. The same kid who said "I just can't wait to wake up and think who am I singing for today?"
If you want to hear the most jaw dropping female singer in the entire world, watch Delta Goodrem -Born To Try (Global Citizen Live). You will be in complete and utter disbelief. Also keep in mind, that performance took place AFTER she battled leukaemia and had to relearn how to sing.

Agree with previous comments for your next Matt Corby experience - Song For Interlude (live from the Resolution Tour). This one goes further into his musical talents. If you do Miracle Love, I'd recommend the version live in the Manchester Cathedral.

As sad as this song is when you find the meaning behind it. The saddest thing about this song is Matt himself thinks this version is bad.
It's the definitive version IMO. And I say that as someone who watches Matt form his chops performing at The Cove after Idol

I've watched a few reactions to this and I'll say two things:
- you're the first reactor I've heard try to do the whoo-hoo bit and get it perfect 😊, and
- What most don't mention is the ease at which Matt mixes growl and 'clean' in a single phrase
"Trick of the Light (Live on The Resolution Tour)" is a fantastic song of his. But for another cut back version on the same "Like a Version" radio show as this vid, check out his cover of Tina Arena's "Chains".
Story is: slept with his mate's girlfriend and felt very very bad, hence this song
