Lec9 - Diazonium Salts, Nitrosoamines and Diazo Compounds

In this video we talk about how sodium nitrite is converted to nitrosonium ion, which itself reacts with primary and secondary amines to produce diazonium salts and nitrosoamines, respectively. We briefly review the mechanism of diazonium salt formation and diazonium reactions of aromatic compounds. Finally, we talk about how diazo compounds are made and highlight their colorful nature.
