Lec11 - Formation of the Peptide Bond and Protecting Groups

In this video we explain how to activate a carboxylic acid with DCC in order to transform it into an amide (aka peptide) bond. We also touch upon how to add a protecting group to the amino and/or the carboxylic acid components of amino acids. We also show the mechanisms of installing and removing Boc and Fmoc protecting groups to and from amines.
