I am surprised at the few negative comments . Most of these videos are painful to watch, always some one either doing nothing, or working there ass off for no reason ( doing something they shouldn't be ) . The mark of a pro, like you see here is being set up right before the concrete gets there and not panicking when it gets there, looked like those guys never broke a sweat . Its hard work , but if you know what your doing you can make it go a hell of a lot easier.
Why does everyone criticise so much?? You post a video on TH-cam or FB and everyone becomes an expert on the topic and is free to make the most stupidest remarks. This world has gone to shit. These guys got the job done. The slab has reinforced steel in it, it was laid on a bed of compacted rock. They screeded it and there was even a slope. The end product looks great. My mum always told me if I didn't have anything nice to say that I should keep my thoughts to myself. All you expert concreters I applaud you for your wealth of concreting knowledge, but your spelling is terrible.
If the owner of the house ever needs to sue these "contractors", he would probably win a judgement before the video finish playing. This is horrible! They did not do one single thing right. The worst of all is that they drove that heavy truck on the house driveway and lawn, instead of pumping the concrete from the street.
brooksCuzz69 The cost of the pump for this job could not be more that $600 or $700 in New York City. The damages to the driveway black top, (Asphalt) and the lawn could be a lot more than that.
you ever pump cocncrete before? you have to pump grout through it to prime it before the concrete, where would they clean out? rent a bin with geotech? more goes into pumping concrete than just the cost of the pump...i do it all the time, for a farm where he can dump shit on the ground sure, but in the city thats not happening
better yet use the conveyor right on the side of the truck. Fill it right up for you.!! Just watch him place the concrete. And put the mesh in first. Plus set the grade...HOW DO THEY FIGURE WHAT THEY NEED..
back conc truck right up to the pad area. shoot concrete as far into the pad as possible in a big pile have the digger reach from the other side and pull concrete towards itself. repeat for all sides. much much much faster. like what its doing at 4.00 bucketing concrete with a digger is super slow. why is that bucket so loose? :(
That was getto. Lets have the water run right into the house foundation. bad sub grade, couldn't see any sign of grade compaction. you could tell the job was a blow and go situation.
Painful, too tight to hire a pump. Be dumb enough to do it this way but really dumb to whack it on TH-cam. Everyoues laughing at you mate. Qualified landscaper and plant operator here.
Put about the same in last week... myself with a wheelbarrow with 2 friends had to walk about 10 metres then push it up 8 steps and dump it then rubbed it all up..by god its hard work i should have got a digger...by the end of the job my 2 friends who could move lol were callin me a digger but then again i am as hard as concrete..... booommmmm
Like watching Billy Smart's circus clowns do it, hows this for an idea - use the concrete lorry to deliver to the parts next to it then use the digger to reach the furthest bits and to cap it off, lets cement the ivy solidly onto the green tank - quality job plus one........
How does a video like this one get over 10 million views? Please, someone explain this to me. They pitch the concrete directly towards the house which is going to be horrible when it rains.
2011gmh As long as the reinforcing is in the concrete 5cms it will be ok. It looks like the guys are treading the mesh well in at 6:58 so I think it will be ok. Concrete laid on compacted rocks is ok. It looks like the sub base has been compacted. Concrete on a good subsoil is also ok as long as nobody is parking cars on it.
Dont know what you know about concrete but I have done it over 25 yrs and I inspected as well. If that was acceptable the state dept. and gove. would let it happen any way you want to do it. THAT is why we regulate the crap out of the industry so when you drive over a bridge it SHOULD hold you up for the next 50 to 100 yrs, no will hold you up for the next 50 to 100 yrs. I would make them replace all there work if they did that work for me it is sub par and I GUARANTEE it will fail less than a year.
The Pilot Penguin I was thinking why wasn't it chaired up with steel first I guess they did it this way so they could have digger in there without fucking it
This whole job is a fuck up, they shouldn't have used the mini ex to pour. They had a slope TOWARDS the house which is a huge mistake, and they shouldn't have used a mini ex to move the Crete, they should have just backed the truck around and shot the whole job and saved a HUGE amount of time and had way less of a mess. We've had jobs bigger than this, very similar in location( behind a house) and we just shot it and got it done in an hour. Other times when we couldn't get the truck near the pour we just used wheelbarrows. Very sloppy work over all.
You really sound like the many clowns I have worked with. If you have a piece of equipment, you utilize it. As for driving around on grass with 80,000 pounds, If you can talk some driver into risking a $1500. tow bill, As for wheel barrows, you either pay the over time, or pay the 2 or 3 guys to wash them and a few rakes the rest of the day.
+James Macleod hey, only some Irish contractors are cowboys and when they are, they are proper cowboy builders. my uncle has been doing concrete for as long as i can remember and its quality
Lazyness what happen'd to man and tools like wheelbarows and that and they supposed to put down steel mesh to help make it stronger with out it it is just going to become weak over time before you know it will be a wast of time and money doing it.
I'm not used to seeing so few of workers. In California there are usually 10 illegals in their bare feet walking in the cement. Where is this? I think I'm getting sea sick.

+A Fermin doubt the home owner would want to fit the bill for a pump or pump truck just for a shed in there back yard....

would have been easier backing it right in and setting the shutter at the last second
Why dint he use the conveyor belt
