"Wow! Those detonations were absolutely awesome! You've got more energy than I do in a week. Much respect."
I worked as a mechanic for a company decades ago that did seismic work in the oil field industry, and other things. One time they hired out to drill shot-holes in the floor of a rock pit so they could loosen up more rock to excavate. The floor of the pit was 100 feet below grade. I had to go out there and replace the starter on the shot-hole rig so they could get it started and drive it out of the pit. While I was doing that they got all the holes they had drilled packed with explosives and as the shot-hole rig was driven out of the pit they ran the wire that connected all the holes together up to the top out of the pit. So I hung around to watch what happened.
When they set off the explosives you really could not hear it but felt it through your feet. I stood there and watched the floor of the pit, about the size of a football field, rise up into the air with part of it going about 300 feet into the air. I quickly rolled under my pickup to avoid being hit by rocks that flew over to where we had stationed ourselves at the rim of the pit.
I think they used a little too much ammonia nitrate between the sticks of TNT in the holes.

Dave is very adaptable to situations, when demolishing near structures or people he is careful and uses little explosives. When he's sure he won't do any damage he works like this guy using lots of explosives. Demolishing with dynamite requires adapting to the situation. When you don't have digging machines nearby, the explosive not only breaks the rock but also displaces it

Watching you drill and blast the rock brought back memories of when I was a teenager and I would help my Dad to do the same thing. We used an air operated drill run by a gas compressor and would poke a hole in the end of the dynamite and insert the blasting cap. The cap was detonated by a fuse which we would have about 10 feet long. Light it and run. We were doing this to create a dam on a creek and had federal approval. Can't do that anymore. I still remember the sound as it went off.
Thanks for bringing back a fond memory.

That last blast was over done, but it was cool. You made what’s called a counterforce charge. Essentially it’s just explosive waves colliding and multiplying inside a hard target. You could’ve had a slightly better effect on the rock if you did not place a charge in the center. Also if you have detcord or blasting cap at the furthest out point. The wave will travel more effectively through the explosive and into the target.

I only recently found your channel and am enjoying them very much! It is very interesting seeing you at work and you are a hard worker. The footage of the rock being blown up was absolutely stunning. Perhaps because of my upbringing on a farm in Wales where certain trees and rocks act as landmarks and often from which the name of the field derives, I always feel a sense of sadness or longing when a large tree gets felled or a rock destroyed. Even though I know it has to be done and have helped to do so. I felt it with that rock too, even though I would do exactly the same thing. I wonder if anyone else feels that way. Perhaps it is a Welsh thing as we have a strong sense of 'hiraeth' (longing) even though we Welsh mined coal and slate in huge amounts!

Hey man, have been enjoiying your video's ,watching them alllll the way through, its addictive for me, that boulder at 43:54, just before you touch off the explosive, the boulder looks so solid, to then just kinda melt into SO manny small bits, love the view from the drone, you really see how far it throws them bits of rock into the woods, so cool, it dose such a neet job, you would think its way more messy, really appreciate you and your video's, really love watching stuff like this, the rock crusher vid was the first i seen, really loved that one, didunt miss a minet of it, most people dont talk to, but you make it more intresting by infourming us what you are doing, your plan of acction and all, and just the diffrent camra angles, really enjoiy it, thank you ever so much for shareing it with us all, i will happly keep watching, you have a sub from me.

Trying to pull that trailer out of the mud with a quad was funny!

When recovering trailers like that stick a wheel or even stick in the ground under the winch line. This transfers the force to lift the front edge of the trailer. A wheel is best as it rolls with the winch line, but a stick or log will work for an initial lift .

👏🎥🔍 This video is top-notch! The videography is outstanding, capturing all the details as you tackle the challenges head-on. It's both intriguing and educational to see how you address the issues and ensure smooth water flow. I'm curious about the techniques and tools you use. Keep up the great work! 💪💦🌊
