For some ships who don't speak or interact when they first see each other, I've included either both the moment they first saw each other and their first conversation (e.g. Harley and Ivy) or just their first conversation, as the moment they first saw each other came with no particular acknowledgment on either part (e.g. Scorpia and Perfuma). Benson and Troy from Kipo and Yaz and Sammy from Camp Cretaceous were also in this video, but it got copyright-blocked for both those shows, even when I added background music and flipped the images, so I had to remove them, sorry!

Yeah I don't know why, but it explains why a lot of wlw couples are "enemies to lovers" or notoriously slow-burn in comparison. Also maybe it's a way for the writers to play with expectations in female relationships. Like a lot of female characters get set against each other so we expect them not to get along, but then they become friends/allies instead and eventually fall for each other instead of the guy. It's kind of fun watching them go through all of those phases, even if sometimes we get impatient and are like "just kiss already!" 😂
Some of the wlw couples were straight (hah) up battling each other in their meeting scenes
Luz and Amity really didn't get along at first huh? Heck it's extra funny that Amity briefly believed her future girlfriend to be an abomination.

me too!! i guess since Nate was even unsure if he'd get to make Catradora canon, there wasn't so much room for all of the side pairings to be more openly romantic as well! i still think they're cute though :)

and yeah, me too. i think what happened there is that her character designer designed her that way (making it canon enough that the fandom considers it so) but the creators weren't aware at the time, ig because the designer didn't know if they'd be able to put it in the show? so the result was that it didn't get explored. it would've been cool if it had!

Technically, Scorpia and Perfuma first met in the season 2 episode 'Roll with it'...though they didn't say anything to each other. Perfuma and the rest of the Princess Alliance just kinda...threw Scorpia off a building.
yeah, exactly!! i know they'd seen each other before that point (including at Princess Prom, too!) but that was their first real *meeting* and conversation, so I decided to just keep it at that :)

I wonder how Luna Loud first met her girlfriend Sam Sharp, and just when/how she fell so head over heels for her. I kinda hope we get an episode that shows that because we already saw from Sam’s debut episode “L Is For Love” that Luna had feelings for Sam but she was shy at first and a bit sad because she thought Sam was out of her league. It was so cute in “Racing Hearts” to see Sam did indeed reciprocate the affection and both she and Luna said they thought they’d be perfect for each other, but of course as they continue on with the Royal Woods Astonishing Quest, the girls realize they don’t share much in common as Luna was good with laser tag and dancing, while Sam wasn’t. Sam was good at rock climbing, farming for eggs, knowing about organic juices, and sailing, all of which Luna was bad at. After the sailing incident both girls are upset and Sam asks “Should we call it quits?” Luna sadly responds “We’ve come this far. We might as well finish the quest… as y’know, friends.” Sam sadly says “Yeah friends” Luna then reads the final clue which is “You’ve come this far but no time to gloat. This Astonishing Quest ends on a sweet note.” When the two girls get to where the last quest it’s baking an apple pie and simultaneously they go “Ooh. Baking’s not really my thing.” This causes them both to blush before they try to begin baking which they of course mess up on but they had fun and realized they can discover new things they like together as a couple.

honey, when two women hold hands and stare into each other's eyes as they walk off into the sunset on a one-on-one vacation, that's a good indication they like each other. they got together at the end of the show, having pined and blushed and flirted and written letters and held hands and been there for each other throughout seasons 3 and 4.
if that's not enough for you, the co-creators both confirmed their relationship a few days later, and there've since been comics released where they are in a relationship, kiss, confess their love etc.
yes, Korra liked Mako in season 1 and 2, then they broke up, and her relationship with Asami was developed throughout seasons 3 and 4. they weren't *allowed* to kiss because of censorship, but the creators did everything they could to make it clear they were canon. people can like more than one person in their life. people can be bisexual. her having loved a man doesn't negate the fact that she later loves a woman!

you're right that friends can and do flirt/kiss/etc. the problem is that 1) people rarely/never go 'they're just friends' about m/f couples that behave in this way! and 2) that in media, there are specific things that (whilst they can be platonic in real life) in fiction are typically used to illustrate romance. the Korrasami ending has many of these things!! and whilst i understand not necessarily *assuming* they're together, it seems to me that most people being surprised at the *possibility* of this with two women, would probably assume, if a man and woman held hands, stared into each other's eyes and faded into the 'sunset', that they were together!!
it's the double standard that annoys me, and i'm sorry if you were just genuinely asking in good faith. these two are very important to me and were groundbreaking for queer rep at the time, so i'm a little protective of them.
but anyways, they're 100% a canon couple, and i'm glad i could inform you of that!! :)
