I just listened to the previous talk by another scholar and was horrified. Many husbands walk out on their wife because they fancy something new, leaving the wife destitute. I know Sharia to be just, and this talk has confirmed this. My daughter is just going through a divorce after years of abuse and neglect with two children. To say he does not have to provide for them and tge sisters are seeking the haram, is horrible and very wrong. The Prophet (saw) told us to look after the orphans and widows. Divorce is worse than death. Thanknyou for this.

Ladies ask for references when sheikhs share opinion and do your research. Level of knowledge varies by sheikhs and area of expertise also varies.
So much books on Marriage... but Divorce and Child Custody dont have much books from Islamic Perspective.
Its important to know otherwise you get screwed and listen to misleading sheikhs not knowledgeable enough on it.
Alot of children's lives ruined because of absent fathers, and parents not knowing about rights of child in Islam after divorce.
Girl child that reaches puberty dont have a wali in her life that's problem for marriage.
Sons dont have father showing him how to be a man --- mothers cant do that.
Also lots of Muslim kids in foster care- sometimes both parents are not able to care for child.

I definitely agree with the children issues you mentioned- you are spot on.
Kids must have access to both parents and their relatives. Do not let emotions take over- keep the differences between adults.
Also, the divorce is also a test from Allah- so are you going to deal with it positively ( make dua for your partner, say kind words, apologise etc) or negatively ( backbite? Preventkids from visiting their father? Etc? )
Never approach kuffar law before setting scholars/ mufti/ Shariah Council otherwise you might ruin your Hereafter.

Take down this video. it is not helpful. read book Bulug Al-Maram. It contains the laws of custody ! YOU are not speaking about Hadiths on custody in Islam, which is ALLAH's legislature. So take this video I suggest, then go study the laws of Hadaaanah, then make video where you Tafseer on the laws of Hadaan based on Rasoelllah SAW's rulings.

I am very interested in this topic. Can you clarify or explain what you think the sheikh omitted?can you also state the exact hadiths for sake of reference, so I may continue studying them in my own. Also the boomk you mention, which school of fiqh is it based on?JAK

My ex is refusing to follow any of the Islamic rulings, and instead is taking 50% of the property and forcing me to pay spousal maintenance. This is despite her lieing، cheating and stealing during the marriage. I have even shown her the evidence, but she refuses to listen and only follows the method to get the most money for herself

I hope your situation has changed, and that you are seeing your children.
A scholar once said to me that what is written for you is what you will get in this dunya. Also, this is your test in this dunya.. some ppl have cancer, other have limbs missing etc... but this is your test. Have sabr, Allah will reward you.
Also, move on in life. Allah has given you health... build your future again and get closer to Allah. Sometimes some test brings your closer to Allah.

Wrong. Your advice is wrong about the marriage contract. The conditions put in marriage contracts can not be illegal in islam. Even its put in it becomes invalid

The ex husband that abandon wife and kids...your best bet get a good lawyer so you can get you fair share financially and visitation...the imams are bias they side with men especially the cultural imams...they will answer to Allah in afterlife, the mehr thats unpaid is hellfire, father who abandon his kids through adulthood cannot be wali. Estrange Fathers die alone dont worry his kids will not give a shit when they are adults.
