*Nostos is confirmed for Oculus Quest* It might not look quite this nice... But we're talking an actual survival MMO on a portable $400 VR system. I think that's worth a mention. EDIT: Thanks to Sub2Egg for digging up the twitter post confirming support: mobile.twitter.com/nostosgame/status/1063370094418395136
There are a few difficulties when it comes to a cross-platform VR and mouse and keyboard controls. In general, they're just so different that it always makes me worry about how things will work. If it's being made VR-first it shouldn't be too bad, but there are a lot of things when it comes to basic object interaction that feel different when you actually need to reach out, touch, and interact with something, compared to pressing a button. I saw a crossbow weapon in the video, I'll use that as an example. K&M would generally left click to fire, then press R to reload. An animation would play where the character loads a new bolt. VR would press the right trigger to fire, then reach into their quiver wherever it is, pull out a bolt, and place it into the crossbow. One would need an animation created for loading while the other would need interactivity to allow the player to pick up and move an object, and have it interact with other objects. That's just one example, but it goes for pretty much everything interaction related. VR has the player physically do the action and needs all of the interactivity involved to make it work. K&M has all the actions preset, but needs to build all of the animations to fill them in. Building all of those systems twice is a lot of work. I really hope they manage to do it well.
This was top notch man :) I think you are spot on with the comment about Vr Headsets being more of an add-on, we need something that is good to start with and VR just makes it all that much better to bring users into using it. So keen to see Nostos :)
VR needs more complete experiences in general. Lone Echo was fantastic even without combat; my favorite game n years even with big fancy games like the Witcher3 and RDR2.
Holy crap, TH-cam Recommendations working for a change!?! Madness! So glad to have watched this video, and for you to have shone a light on this game I previously did not know about. Just as a classic PC game alone, it looks stunning. But to think this could be a VR experience, this might well be a game that as you so said, might have me take that step forward for the sake of enjoyment and immersion. Kudos, and thanks for this!
im going to the US by the time occulus quest arrives there, im definetly buying one just for this game (and many others i have had my eyes on). I like to think i have a six sense that tells me when im going to like something or get along with someone. On people it works 7/10. On games it's 8/10. This games, gives the feeling of a life changing game for me, to the point that it's the first game i never want to share with close friends, this looks like a game i will not only love, but make a part of myself. Fevir, thanks for sharing it man, Love your work so far
Great video. Just incase people aren't aware - there are already games that can be played without vr but are enhanced by vr, games that came out years ago. Metroid Prime, FZero GX (not kidding), Ocarina of Time (also not kidding). Seriously. Try these games in vr, games you've already played before. See just how much changes.
This is Made in Abyss game. Even if it doesn't have darkness of the anime, the anime itself started relatively light and comfy so we don't know what will future bring.
Literally 'everything' about this game shouts 'Made in Abyss', which I absolutely loved the atmosphere and ost for. Looking forward to see how this game turns out!
I had never heard of this "Nostos" game until watching this video literally just now, but I already love the music and artstyle! That's very much like the kind of style I would want to use in any games I'd make if ever I can get a career as a video game producer. XD
hey friend. i guess i'm a pretty emotional person, but you have a way with words that really sold this. never heard of the game before, but they way you described the devs as how they are "building a world" first really touched me. thanks for uploading.
Knowing that NetEase is behind it doesn't put me 'et ease'. *budumtss*. But seriously, NetEase is notorious for micro-transactions, very expensive ones at that.
The point you made is 100%. The idea that VR is an accessory to gaming that people will get only if they enjoy something with it. The reason I got into VR was because I am a VR game developer and needed a headset to well playtest the games I work on. The games that work best are the ones that are backward compatible with non-vr players.
Talk about emotional Rollercoaster ride. First I was super excited, then the whole thing took a complete nosedive after it became apparent it's VR focused.
the atmosphere and mood along with the art style makes me think of some of the more not so action oriented fantasy manga's and animes. this looks promising.
Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely be keeping my eye on this one! Also, I love your view on VR. I think you explained it really well, and it's a sentiment I find myself agreeing with completely. That VR should be an addition to gaming, that it's an accessory, like a joystick or a racing wheel, that we should stop trying to make people leave everything behind for this new thing and instead try to focus on VR's strong points and selling it as something you can use to improve your gaming. I personally have a joystick, a racing wheel and pedals, multiple guitars, drums, mics, four different types of controllers, and just about every other accessory you can imagine. I didn't buy them to ditch my PC and leap into the new age of gaming. I bought them to enhance my gaming, to make it more fun, I bought them so my racing could feel more like racing, so my flying could feel more like flying, so games designed for the controller could be played with a controller. They exist to enhance the game, to do what they do well as best as they can. Instead of trying to create all these games to lure people into the VR market, people should focus on making outstanding products that can utilize VR to the best of it's capabilities, and rely on their product being absolutely amazing enough that people want to buy it.
Nostos will NOT be a desktop game if you read the steam page properly, the only input and supported hardware is VR What they mean by PC & VR is that it will be on VR stores (like Oculus Store) and PC stores (like Steam)
The testing in Gamscom had people sitting at PC - I'll shoot them an email and confirm. Even some of the footage they've released show people sitting playing it in almost 3rd person.

I'm really glad that VR is growing and is trying to get these games that makes us feel like we're really in the game, but I wish I could afford a good Computer that can handle a game like this and also trying to afford these expensive VR headsets. I could honestly see this game as a survival game being in Third/First person on console(yes I know I'm a console peasant complaining about a PC focused game) but the other worldly feel of this game brings something to the gaming community that makes it so interesting and it just looks so amazing and beautiful, especially the character design.

*Nostos is confirmed for Oculus Quest*
It might not look quite this nice... But we're talking an actual survival MMO on a portable $400 VR system. I think that's worth a mention.
EDIT: Thanks to Sub2Egg for digging up the twitter post confirming support: mobile.twitter.com/nostosgame/status/1063370094418395136
Can't wait!
Where is your source for this ?? That's a big claim to make.

1:59 That singing, was so beautiful and it was quite literally gibberish. This game is gonna have my attention from the audio alone
What a Time to Be Alive...
This makes me want one more. I bought a really strong computer for vr and college. Now I’m convinced 100%
buy the oculus quest when it comes out. no wires
I absolutely love this. To everyone that hasn't truly experienced the power of VR, I believe it truly is the next level of interactive entertainment.
Kevin Penkin x Emi Evans, this ost is gonna be so amazing.
I already can't wait to listen to the ost
I really hope they manage to do it well.
never heard of this game but omg this looks incredible jeez i'm hyped now
This was top notch man :) I think you are spot on with the comment about Vr Headsets being more of an add-on, we need something that is good to start with and VR just makes it all that much better to bring users into using it. So keen to see Nostos :)
VR needs more complete experiences in general. Lone Echo was fantastic even without combat; my favorite game n years even with big fancy games like the Witcher3 and RDR2.
Also cheaper gear so it can become more accessible truth be told.
nullunit check out the forest
Holy crap, TH-cam Recommendations working for a change!?! Madness!
So glad to have watched this video, and for you to have shone a light on this game I previously did not know about. Just as a classic PC game alone, it looks stunning. But to think this could be a VR experience, this might well be a game that as you so said, might have me take that step forward for the sake of enjoyment and immersion.
Kudos, and thanks for this!
Been waiting for a really good vr game forever. Hopefully it's good
im going to the US by the time occulus quest arrives there, im definetly buying one just for this game (and many others i have had my eyes on).
It's also gonna be playable on mouse and keyboard.
Wait, how do you play those in VR? O.o
This is what I subscribed for. Thanks for the heads up Fevir!
This is Made in Abyss game. Even if it doesn't have darkness of the anime, the anime itself started relatively light and comfy so we don't know what will future bring.
The graphics look very Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild - like, really cool.
Also music is beautiful 😍
Literally 'everything' about this game shouts 'Made in Abyss', which I absolutely loved the atmosphere and ost for. Looking forward to see how this game turns out!
This game will be to VR what Mabinogi was to PC MMOs
Not the most perfect game, but a really good step towards what could be.
this by far looks to be the most promising thing coming out that i've seen.
No YOU sound like garbage. Love you!
I SOUND GREAT
Hive, sorry, but the harsh truth is Fevir sounds better than you did in the last video
@@prototypelq8574 :-P Fevir ALWAYS sounds better than me. (also I was sick in the last video but that's just excuses)

Don't let him off the hook. Let's just all agree that Hive's audio quality is sub-par.
Excited for this but more excited for Sable, which also has very little visible hype behind it.
addedv to wish list. Giving me Zelda and anime vibes here lol.
I had never heard of this "Nostos" game until watching this video literally just now, but I already love the music and artstyle! That's very much like the kind of style I would want to use in any games I'd make if ever I can get a career as a video game producer. XD
Wtf this is actually my vision (dream). I didn't think someone would make it true
Snow Phoenix yes same!
How have I not heard of this. VR support, BOTW like Art Style, Online! Oh you got me excited. This is something I am looking into.
If it's anime-styled it's a success
Guess that would be the style of my future racing game project
hey friend. i guess i'm a pretty emotional person, but you have a way with words that really sold this. never heard of the game before, but they way you described the devs as how they are "building a world" first really touched me. thanks for uploading.
Knowing that NetEase is behind it doesn't put me 'et ease'. *budumtss*. But seriously, NetEase is notorious for micro-transactions, very expensive ones at that.
boooooooo
@@Fevir It's true tho. Hopefully they're breaking away from their past.
The point you made is 100%. The idea that VR is an accessory to gaming that people will get only if they enjoy something with it. The reason I got into VR was because I am a VR game developer and needed a headset to well playtest the games I work on. The games that work best are the ones that are backward compatible with non-vr players.
seems promising, but I just hope NetEase doesn't ruin it
Yeah... I went from really excited to cautiously optimistic the moment I heard "Netease"... /sigh.
I'm worried that it uses SpatialOS
Talk about emotional Rollercoaster ride. First I was super excited, then the whole thing took a complete nosedive after it became apparent it's VR focused.
Hears made in abyss
IM IN.
A- are you sure ? Its been only like a-a few minutes into the vi-
*IM IN !*
By gods. This has so much going for it. Time to buy a VR headset.
This is the type of game i expect an isekai adaptation of, And I love it.
You ready to get stuck?
Fevir I can’t wait to get stuck
Gray Au can you still say that after watching shield hero?
The fact that they even made up an entirely fictional language for this game is mind blowing, adding to the music and the aesthetic
what's the name of the song at 2:00?
i would like to know as well
It sounds alot like the songs in Nier Automata
I guess it's the same artists that made it
This has sooo much potential. I genuinely am excited just from this video and am glad I'm getting VR soon so I'm definitely gonna give it a try.
"made up language"?
Okay. I'm interested. But is this an English cypher or an actual 100% conlang? I really want to know.
You know Nier songs? Something like that.
@@mystic_spider lmao those languages are real though
@@aozorakinoshita4701 it's a mix of French, Japanese and I think some other language's phonetics. If you can call that mix an existing language
@@doodlemcgee Actually, it's supposed to be a mix between "German" and "Icelandic" (there is a "Nostos: Making of the Main Theme" video)
@@Nyatsuru oh i was talking about the music from nier not nostos
the atmosphere and mood along with the art style makes me think of some of the more not so action oriented fantasy manga's and animes. this looks promising.
so basically Dr Stone the game
Nostos will NOT be a desktop game if you read the steam page properly, the only input and supported hardware is VR
What they mean by PC & VR is that it will be on VR stores (like Oculus Store) and PC stores (like Steam)
VR-only? Fuck.
The testing in Gamscom had people sitting at PC - I'll shoot them an email and confirm. Even some of the footage they've released show people sitting playing it in almost 3rd person.
You've put my thoughts on VR for the last couple of years into a simple 7 minute video.
i got a mix felling when you said the n word. netease
Why? Are they a bad company?
@DunklerJägerZach What are they notorious for?
@@one.ebrown not being consumer friendly, mostly doing shitty microtransaction filled games, and lately with their partnership with blizzard for diablo immortal, which has garnered tons of negative reception
I'm wondering if they took the contract for Diablo Immortal to fund this game. They're not the only guys making Diablo rip-offs in the mobile space.
Then again, they could be a bunch of hacks, who knows.
@@Lyoko1309 Whatever the reason is, chinese developeres, among them NetEase, make players tremble when it comes to having them behind a project. I'm sure i won't be looking into this game unless they don't fill it with micros.
"Hmm, I'm intrigued."
NetEase.

What's wrong with netease lol
They make awesome games
Besides revelation online which was a huge disappointment
@@FlowerSong606 Yeah they do make nice games in beginning. Only to find out few months later game is at the brink of destruction because netease is basically you common F2P MMO western publisher and acts exactly like that. They are basically Nexon but with different company name.
