  • Step by step install of an Android Head Unit. It's not as hard as it looks and it's worth it. This is best head unit I've ever used.

    Very informative video! I’m getting an Atoto unit soon and for a change I’m thinking of installing it myself rather than paying someone else to do it. One question, wouldn’t it normally be sensible to disconnect the car battery before embarking on this kind of job?

    • @CarDoItYourself

      I’ve never disconnected the battery, that being said, it’s not a bad idea to do so.

      @@D45VR It went very smoothly thanks. Turned out to be genuinely plug & play. Atoto supplied 2 ISO harnesses and as the previous aftermarket unit had an ISO connection I was able to figure out which one I required. Never disconnected the battery BTW!

    I got a question. I see on my Atoto manual one of the wires says ‘dimmer/ illumination’ but I’m confused, do I connect that to the dimmer wire on my harness or the illumination wire? I don’t wanna accidentally short circuit anything :/

  • @billritzel101
    @billritzel101 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I think I can do the wiring, but to get the microphone up high, did you take the pillar off, or just pry the wire behind it? How did you get the GPS antenna to the middle of the dash? Another video had the GPS in the pillar and was still getting 11 or 12 satellites; is the outer metal normally that transparent to sat signals? One guy was having problems with the gesture sensor picking up his hand when shifting; do you think your recessed mount helped that a bit?

  • @adamcooley5594
    @adamcooley5594 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video. I would like to see how you mounted the accessories: the microphone, cameras, etc. I'm getting ready to put one of this units in my '07 truck and I'm not keen on the idea of having wires showing.

    • @CarDoItYourself
      @CarDoItYourself  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mounted the antennas on the very bottom of the dash where the defroster vents are. The GPS antenna is black so it isn't visible. The wifi antenna can probably just be mounted inside the dash somewhere if you are only planning on tethering it to your phone which would also be inside the car.

    WOW THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE TWO SCREWS UNDER THE DASH RADIO, OR PROBABLY WHERE BROKEN ALREADY, THAT DASH THAT YOU REMOVED, WAS EASY, USUALLY YOU NEED TO REMOVED THE CENTER OF THE CAR AND THE BOTTOM PART TO REMOVED THE 2 SCREWS AND TAKE THE RADIO OFF..

      Not really, these units are pretty darn good. Remember they are half way around the world. I have a 2011 Tacoma and the A6 Pro is a huge improvement over the stock Toyota radio. I have had both the old M4 version and the A6 Pro and both are superior to stock radios. You got a fluke.
