Thanks for making this video. I’ve been in same situation having been underwhelmed by the 100-400 in comparison to my 24-90. I found adding extra structure in C1 software helped. I then dropped & broke lens such that Wetzlar say beyond repair, so am awaiting a new replacement. Cost to swap to 90-280 would be very high, generally don’t use long lenses, so your findings have been reassuring even though at variance with Red Dot testing.
I got the 70-280 f2.8 from Leica as soon as it came out and I’m perfectly happy with it, I think it’s even sharper than the 100-400 with a nicer bokeh.
The 90-280 is a superlative Lens, well worth the investment. No other Lens can match the image quality. The penalty is, it is a bit heavy. My view is that you have a Cinema Quality Lens built in a 35mm housing. Good, interesting Video. Keep well and Stay safe 👍🇬🇧
Thanks for watching. Great hearing about your experience with the 90-280. I've had to return the lens. I'll look out for a pre-loved one in the future.
Thank you for your reply. Can certainly recommend it 👍 Got mine in 2016, initially was sceptical but, with time and practice it has become a great Lens to work with, the image quality is beyond compare. You can fit the Lens Hood from the 100-400 on without issue or Vignetting, this has a slightly lower profile than the supplied Hood, same with the Tripod Foot for a lower footprint. Good luck with any purchase you make. Keep well & Stay safe. David 👍🇬🇧

I only use Leica filters on all my Leica lenses.
I might need to do the same.
