Have been cheering for the guy for a while and happy that he joined an elite club. Having said that, I hope he will not focus on the versatility that much and will wisely choose his main event.
Internal competition in US is crazy right now, more so in sprinting events. Apart from Kerley who took his sweet time in 400m before transitioning to shorter sprints, nobody even is able to qualify for Olympics and World championships in both 100 and 200, let alone in jumping event on top of that.
So Matthew has some big decisions to make to transition to Professional track & field and I wish him all the luck in that.

@@eneateneggi5274 I understand and respect your opinion but I beg to differ. I don’t know how old you are and how far back your memory goes. Bolt⭐️💐 was unquestionably great. However, during the 80’s and 90’s there was a lot more competition. The 100m world record changed hands several times. There were several different characters who pushed each and furthered the envelope of the event. Calvin Smith, Leroy Burrel, Donovan Bailey, Linford Christi, Franky Fredrick etc in addition to Carl Lewis (not to speak of Ben Johnson😱). After this era was a decade of complete dominance by one outstanding athlete. However, looking back, as a spectator sport, athletics lacked the competitiveness and unpredictability of the decade before. What do you think?🤓🥂🤔

There are so many track athletes using PEDs that It has dampened my love for the sport. Unless Boling joins the club, he will never be a front runner in any event. Allyson Felix is probably the greatest female track athlete ever, but due to what I believe is a state wide Jamaican government sponsored doping program, she will never be crowned as such. Matthew will put in the training necessary to meet his goals. That would include PB performances in all events that he competes. I would hope that he would give some attention to competing in the 400 m events his abilities to maintain his speed through the home stretch would suggest this would be another event that he can compete. Matthew seems to find a way to silence his critics by the improvements in exploding out of the blocks, relaxing to achieve crazy fast top end speed, and jumping like a frog in his long jump. Mathew will continue to do what he does, work hard and focus on and achieve his goals.

He made significant improvement in all 3 events, and got more consistent in the big meets (other than his 100m performance at the NCAA Championships). He is competing - in the SEC - every freakin’ weekend - in 3 events - for entire indoor & outdoor seasons. I’m amazed that he hasn’t fallen’ off more during the late outdoor season. Upon turning pro - w/ the right coach (& that is a BIG decision!) where he (they) can make his own schedule - and have fresh legs at the most opportune time - who knows what he will do? One thing is for sure - he is a great, great competitor. (As a distance - & middle distance racer I never appreciate the importance of “tactics” & “heart”, etc when it comes to sprinting. But I’ve learned - from watching more carefully the great world class sprint races over the past 2-3 years - that the mental aspect of sprinting/jumping may even b on a par w/ the well understood importance it Requires of middle & long distance competitors. (Noah Lyles, for example..). Peace!

Boling needs to sort his upper body form out, imo, if he's to improve and add consistency. He's rocking and rolling too much and he seems far too tense in most of those races we saw. His leg form in the latter races is different in appearance to most other athletes, but it was smooth and controlled which is far more important than doing it the same as the rest, particularly if it is working for him.
If he's lucky he will have the chance to try and repeat this feat, but given that most sprinters are discouraged from doing jumps in case they cause themselves an injury, I wouldn't be surprised if he is encouraged to drop the long jump and stick to the 100m and 200m.

He burned out. The human body has limits. Bowlin runs the 100, 200, 4x100, 4x400, and sometimes the 400 with the long jump. His coach is a idiot, that is way too many events.

  • @TheDjcarter1966

I think should probably be his last season as a 100, 200 and long jumper. Unless he really breaks out in the long jump I think given his build he could be with about two years of dedication the best decathlete ever. I think he has actually pole vaulted in high school and was respectable he looks like he has the upper body so that he could hold his own throwing it would just be really interesting to see what he could do. There are just too many talented true sprinters that he is never catching, doubtful even if he becomes world class that he could still only be 5th in the USA which means even though you might be fast enough to make a World or Olympic final you never get the chance because you are never even on the team.

Since when did running a 9.98 100m not be considered world class? Boling at 21 has a PR of 9.98 BTW At 21 Marvin Bracy's PR at 100M was 10.08 and at 21 Kenny Bednareks PR was 10.02 . There's no way you can say he can't make a US team that at this point.

If Boling is likely to improve as he gets older, it’s seems like he just left high school but time flys. He will eventually be in the Carl Lewis/ Bolt/Michael Johnson class of track & field athlete, he is headed in that direction. All he needs to do is extend his stride and relax his upper body, most importantly stay smooth!

Athletes today specialize earlier and earlier; it's unusual to see high level D1 guys juggle all three events long enough to join that particular club. It seems like every year Boling looks more competitive in the indoor season and is out of gas by June so who knows if he'll keep up with all three for his last year.

I'm an Australian and I remember a joke that went around after the 1984 LA Olympics. Q: What does Carl Lewis and the Australian Olympic team have in common? A: 4 Gold medals!😁 That's right Australia as a nation with 174 men and 75 women could only manage 4 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze and Carl won 4 gold on his own! I used to marvel at Carl Lewis and his running style, just great to watch.

Brilliant video, great footage and facts about Carl Lewis - what a string of jumps! So pleased for Matthew. Let me see.......if he wants to improve, why not switch to a plant based diet like Carl Lewis did? (and me too, obviously!). Only joking! Or am I? Don't know - who am I to give advice to these people!?
