      Need to go back and really watch the entire 2nd leg. Bama is well ahead of Georgia to the exchange zone, but Bama has a terrible exchange, and Orogot takes off a bit behind Boling. The next thing to notice is Orogot runs the entire turn in lane 6, instead of his assigned lane of 5. Meaning he runs a good 1.5m more than he should have. Clean up these two aspects, and Bama is winning this, running away!

      People say that who have no idea what's involved in the decathlon. First he's way too small to be a threat in the Javelin/shot/discus. Second he's never pole vaulted and that takes YEARS to master (even at a 15' level). Third, his 100m, 400m, and LJ numbers would drop if he had to train for 10 events instead of 2 or 3. His LJ is fine (Daily Thompson was better 40 years ago), but how is his hurdles? Do you think people pick that up in a long weekend?

      Is that not supposed to be a DQ though? Pretty sure you're supposed to be in your lane only at that stage. There must be a rule about that I'm not aware of because almost nobody has mentioned it at all, even in the official coverage. Regardless, it was pretty impressive, but I'd be pissed as a coach since he made their job a little harder. Double so if it was against the rules.

    • @cooperhunt6257
      @cooperhunt6257 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Zharghar08 I believe that would only be considered a DQ if he made contact with the other runner, or he ran less distance than he was supposed too. The officials don't DQ you for running more though. (also he didn't purposely switch lanes, he wasn't paying attention to the lane)

      "In March, he leaped the farthest in the long jump for a high school athlete in ten years with a 26' 3.5" (8.01 m) mark at the Texas Relays,[7] and then bested the high school all-conditions 100 m record, breaking the 10-second barrier with a wind-assisted 9.98 seconds run on April 27, 2019. Boling finished his high school track career in May at the Texas state championships by running a 44.74 second anchor in the 4 × 400 m relay"

    Given the saturation of the current US 200m male field; Matt should seriously consider doing the 400m for say, about 5 to 6 years there about. Then, return to the short sprints afterward. This was the route taken by many great athletes, such as: Wade Van Niek, Michael Norman, Shericka Jackson, Shaune Miller, and the great Usain Bolt. Yes, I said it! He was 400m athlete before the short sprints.😊

The production of Track & field events are based around sport in other sports the event itself is more important than the playing of the game.

    Official times go by the baton. You can easily time the baton. The first leg actually runs about a 405 (pass happens after the first 400) and starts at a stop. The second leg and on have running starts and the gap between runners during the pass can lower times to below what a runner can actually run the open 400M.

    I’m surprised you’re quoting a 2nd leg split at all. The variance is pretty wide so I don’t think a sub 44 split can really be read into especially with Godwin leading off
    6:30 it must also be considered because of the lead he’s been given and the lack of stagger with the cut in, he ran it alone. This can vastly influence his running as you mentioned. His ability to relax is totally different in an open with a habitual stagger so when you combine that with a running start, everyone open runner knows how this is just a totally different race. He’d never be alone until 280meters at best.

    Less than 0.3 seconds off the all-time fastest NCAA time. That record is definitely going down. Also, their anchor Sumner, actually ran more than 400 meters as he started in lane 1 and finished in lane 3. That's probably a 0.1 second there, and this is still the middle of the season.
