Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could th-cam.com/users/postUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.
Had my mgl for about a month now and I'm in love with it. I've been using it to fish a 1/8 oz jig with 8lb test and like u said it casts a mile! Wish they made the 6.3:1 in a lefty but will probably grab another 71hg. Tight lines!
I am a Diawa guy for the most part but really can't go wrong with Shimano or Diawa. I do like Shimano spinning. I really just prefer Diawa for Baitcasters
Eventually I'll replace my Lews with Diawa.

Yep Ive fished with curados and even got a chronarch. My favorite reel it now the SLX XT. its so smooth and honestly performs amazing for everything I do even fishing saltwater. Cant wait to try this one out

I've had Two since first release. Both have been through the grind 100s of hours of use. I couldn't even tell you. One in particular has been used specifically for finesse swimbaits exclusively. I've landed 100s of fish on that reel and it's as smooth as day one. I take care of maintenance oil, grease etc. But no noises or slop has been an issue. If you love that reel the Curado 70mgl is the next step.
In the past year I have bought Shimano Scorpion DC, SLX DC, SLX XT, SLX MGL, Curado DC, and Shimano Caius. Every one of them were brand new most from Japan Lure Shop and I swear NOT 1 single reel came with reel oil. I keep seeing other people get the reel oil but not me. However, Japan Lure Shop gives you a free bait with your order and they’ve sent me a really good bait every time! Last one was the JackAll jerk bait sick bait!!
Love my Shimano reels, can't find a bad thing about them.
On a side note, I have always been a braid line guy, granted I have only been fishing for a couple years. I am starting to get into flouro for a couple techniques to improve those. I have seen people talk about line conditioner for flouro, what is your opinion on the use of line conditioner?

I recently purchased an SLX from an online retailer. It did not include the reel oil and it even said on the manual that they were not longer including reel oil.
It's true I got the DC 150 it didn't come with the oil. I call the dealer and they told me that they stop in 2022. Smh... Thanks for your tips and knowledge on your vids keep them coming.
Justin just bought the shimono curado 200 dc and it didn't have reel oil but its awesome baitcaster i am in love with it best investment i ever made
I love the SLX MGLs line up, I also love the Curado MGLs. But for the price the SLX MGLs are the best budget friendly with a ton of performance.
I bought my Shimano Curado 200K based on your video review about it and i will now certainly be picking up that SLX MGL 70!!!
the SLX mgl 70 is hands down the best SLX reel. likewise, i prefer 70-100 size reels line usage and all around performance. i do wish that curve finesse had an axis SHAPED bill...chipboard style as well to give it more action...similar in proportion with regard to the bill as a Blitz SSR. if it did it could be the best shallow finesse squarebill on the market.

Agree on the slx mgl 70, I'd say it's almost as good as my jdm metanium.
I purchased my first Curado from Tackle Warehouse and it even had a paper inside saying they were no longing sending oil with their reels,sucks....

Ya, that is a good price. I use the Diawa tatula sv tw, it's 225$, but awesome real I have 2, and Elite I am a Diawa guy when comes to Baitcasters

I think the SLX MGL is the best deal out of the two. Performance is so close. I love the SLX. Highly recommend. That being said, I own multiple 150 MGLs also and they are nice. But the best bang for the buck is the SLX.
Physics would say that the length of the rod would have more affect on the casting distance than the reel

I just got in my 21’ Shimano Scorpion DC yesterday and it didn’t come with any oil 😕. Got it through Amazon from a Japanese seller, figured they took it out and are selling them separate or some shit lol. Was a bummer but oh well shit happens, fkn love the reel tho… tight lines fellas!

I got a lemon apparently. Bought a MGL brand new after this video and the button wouldn't release unless I forced it up with my thumb. Casted smooth though, but made me want to stick to my Lews after that.
If you like the 70 mgl import a scorpion 70 mgl, it’s just better. Everything I love about my 70 mgl is next level on the Scorpion.

I love them both but the curado is just a notch above. Not by much. Can’t go wrong with either honestly.

I just got 2 Curado DC’s and the came with no gear oil. I was bummed. For the money I paid, there should be oil in the box. I mean it’s not like 2 Metanium DC XG’s but damn….
