The strange thing about this movie is that it takes place after Jesus returned to Earth in the third movie. And yet the world still looks the same as if nothing happen. Like where's Jesus?

This is not in cannon it does invalidate everything that happened in The Final Conflict: The Omen III both the book and movie save for Damien's death and Kate Reynolds and Damien doing the reverse nasty and her getting pregnant in the further novels she has a son not a daughter who is the rebirth of Damien himself.... as Novel 4 explains only Damien's physical being (his body was killed) it is explained why In the first omen novelization you need to stab the antichrist (Damien) ALL 7 of the Daggers of Megito in the sign of the cross with the head of the cross facing up and the mid cross dagger piecing his heart.... with the original trilogy if you want the real next part seek out the novels The Omen: Armageddon 2000 (or The Omen IV: Armageddon 2000) and it's follow up the final book in the franchise The Omen: The Abomination you can find them on the Internet Achieves Lending Library
@@ErinDaymiynThorn It's also explained in the first film that in order to kill Damien for good all 7 daggers need to be used. The first only kills the vessel.

I also remember a stupid scene where a former nun becomes a snake charmer or something, holds out a snake to the private investigator telling him not to be afraid then she gets bitten by the snake and dies.
Just finished watching the movie...I had immediately watch this review to see what you said about the music. I can't recall the last time I watched a movie where the entire score felt like it was for a totally different movie. Hahaha
The music took these supposed horrifying scenes and made them feel like Problem Child with the goofy, comical music.
Omg dude it was hilarious! This movie was so close to being so bad that's its good but it just never quite got there. So we're left with things that are just plain incompetent.

Can't tell you how much I agree. The music was too silly and whimsical for intense and scary scenes.I don't know what they were thinking releasing this movie with that music.
I can't believe you didn't mention the Satanic Zombie Choir that appeared out of nowhere. That was one of the biggest WTF moments in this movie. You better believe that is saying something.😆
They nicked it from the first movie because they have no shame.

You know who directed this, don't you? Dominique Othenin-Girard, the director of Halloween 5. He even got fired a few days before shooting was finished and they brought someone else in to finish it up.

@@mikehunt4986 I have a book called Taking Shape, which is about the Halloween franchise, and Othenin-Girard is interviewed in it. When I read his interview, most of the time I was sitting there, thinking, "What in the hell are you talking about?"

Are you planning on watching the tv series, Damien, as well? It was on Fox, but was cancelled already after the first season. When I saw it I hadn't seen the movie yet, so I didn't know how much of the story that followed the movie or not, but I did find it interesting enough to want to know where they would have taken it.

Idea for a remake or reboot of the series. Adult Damian has a politician who has no idea he’s the antichrist. Strange accidents have allowed him to rise to power, including the deaths of his rivals. As he gains more political power, he is told of his linage. Now he questions wether or not he is doing the right thing, or incidentally bring forth Armageddon. At the end he must decide if he will embrace his bloodline or be he’s own man.
That was actually kind of the premise of the tv Series.

I thought the evil babysitter did a good job being an evil babysitter and Delia's actress did a great job IMO. That scene where she plays on the merry-go-round that the good psychic babysitter fell to her death on was pretty freaky, I thought. In fact, I think that movie Hide and Seek--I think that was the name--borrowed the concept. Overall, the movie, though I acknowledge all of its shortcomings, effectively frightened my third grade self and was the reason I became interested in The Omen in the first place.
What do you expect from the same guy who gave us Halloween 5?

The most interesting parts of this film are the psychic fair and the Holiness w/ Signs-inspired cult.

Yeah, I'll agree, stick with the first 2. I still feel this one is passable, but really, the first two are the best, and goes downhill from there. However, I'm shocked your even going to bother with reviewing the remake. All it is shot for shot remake of the first one, which somehow managed to make the movie that came out in the 1970s look higher quality than the one made about 30 years later.
Faye Grant is fantastic as Karen York. 😀👍
As far as I'm concerned she's the only good thing about this movie. Loved her in V!

say what you will, but i have nothing but love for a film that combines nuns fighting with a psychic fair in the middle of winter... snake dancing... a visible choir of ghouls... the mother is so over the top. i love it all! it's delicious!!!
and it doesn't slow down too much... there are rather constant and funny kills.
i think this film was brilliant.

Several things:
1. Delia is Damien´s daughter.
In the review of part 2 I made a comment saying that the sex Damien had with the reporter was important because besides of him being rough he had anal sex with her. And that´s how she got pregnant.
...and, believe it or not, I searched for it and it could happen. Very rarely but it can. And the point of that was to make her conception even more unholy.
2. There are 5 books. The conception of Damien´s child through anal sex is based on that. However, if I remember well, that was the only thing they took from that source.
The first 3 books were based on the movies. However book 4 and 5 were written/published in 1984 and 1985. Meaning that, if they had wanted to, they could have made 2 more theatrical movies based on them.
3. Also, the reason for this movie was because Fox wanted to see if they could make a TV series out of it.
4. It was a made for TV movie. That being said, it got limited theatrical release on several countries in Europe.
@S. Pal Believe me, I know how AFWUL this movie is. When I bought the DVD set it came with part 4 as the only way to get the movie. The only reason why I wanted the set was for how cool it was and yet you´re meant to keep the stupid movie because all fit perfectly in the slipcover. So it´s not like one can just get rid of it.
A similar situation happened to me when I wanted to buy a Leonardo figure from TMNT. It came with the free DVD of the third part. I despise that movie so much that I didn´t want to get it even if it came free.
They never said anything of anal sex in the movie🤣

Other than the original film, this one was the only one that I actually remembered...Except I didn't know what number it was.
They really want a terrifying movie, they should write a plot around a teenage girl! I've raised one & there's NOTHING scarier!!!
Only two things I liked about this film: It qualifies as a Christmas movie, and I thought having the new-agers trying to fight evil was interesting.
This makes Psycho IV look like Citizen Kane.
Psycho IV was a great example of how to make a decent made-for-telly fourth sequel!
It at least sent us into new character insight, background, tying up any suspicions or loose ends we the audience may have been pondering. This fourth Omen film was so lazy & tired by comparison

When I saw it, I actually liked it, but I thought there might be a sequel, but I waited years for one to come out. When I watched the Damien tv series, I did not like how the series ended. I liked the Final Conflict, but I was disappoint how Damien died in the movie and him yelling at the statue was too weird.
i agree... i think it was a mistake to end damien in the 3rd part. they could have milked this for decades.
... and i don't know about the general ethos of the time it was released, but i think most omen fans are actually rooting for the antichrist.
i was really quite pissed at the end of the 3rd part... we didn't even get an armageddon or something dramatic..... just fuzzy jesus floating around.
The remake can't be that bad. With Cotton Weary as the lead, you can't go wrong.
The remake is lazy trash and you can always go wrong, no matter what.

I like the idea of Part IV and the girl who plays Damien's daughter...but they should have done a theatrical version and done it better than this tv made movie sequel. That is not the Pet Sematary truck. They should have cut out or done away with the ghouls lip syncing to Ave Satani...LOL! It is not the same recycled like shit that happened in the first or second film. LOL! SMH!

Its too old they cannot go back and edit things but this movie would improve if they went back and reo!aced some of the cartoonist home alone music in killing scenes with true dark music. The best death scene in thus movie was the priest because they used ave satani. I personally did not mind the satanic choir because they looked like they crawled straight out of hell

Well yes the priests die and some others but I meant these two were the classic accident style kills.
Just watched the quadrolgy, and the first one is a classic, the second is okay, the third could be been so good but went out the window and the fourth is just pure trash. It could've had some really cool twists and a new take on the story and really gone in a different direction with both of the kids but ended up a total wreck. Everything, as you said, from the music, the editing, the poorly written scripts and the plot is just so bad! Haven't been this disappointed in ages.
So this is a weird one for me cause it's my 3rd favorite of the 5. Without question the original Omen is the best, the remake is my least favorite cause it's the same movie. Part 2 is a good movie and my 2nd favorite. 3 is horrible because he doesn't follow through & become what he was meant to be.This movie is only a TV movie pooly made however as a person who has studied the bible everyone always talks about the antichrist only, however the antichrist has a partner called the false prophet & they together align with the devil causing what bible scholars call the unholy trinity.The twist where she is carrying her brother redeems this movie for me & makes me like it cause in my head the boy is the antichrist & she's the false prophet. It was refreshing to see a end times movie sort of address the unholy trinity though it definitely wasn't on putting. Futhermore it made 3 slightly better cause Damien was not the antichrist but the seed that produces the antichrist like mary is considered the seed that created Jesus. Those are my thoughts as weird as it might be
