The original Wrong Turn is one of my absolute favorites. I have always thought the scene when they’re first hiding from the cannibals in the cabin is so incredibly intense.
Well, the 1st "Wrong Turn" is really good, but the rest of the franchise didn't live up to the original. The 2nd one has some stuff in it that's worth looking at and is just okay, but it doesn't have the rewatch value that the original one has. And that crappy remake or whatever the hell it was sucked so freaking bad.
Completely agree in fact I like all of them except for the new one. Of course they gradually get worse and worse but for what they are they’re fucking Great!
I absolutely love the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I view it as the perfect horror movie. It is so simple (almost to a fault) and the atmosphere is just so good.

Cody, the way how I found your channel was when I saw you Psycho review series (paticuraly when you reviewed the remake), and it was probably around October-December of 2021, and I’ve been hooked to your channel since, very happy to come across a film review channel like this, it really shaped the way how I approach criticism to film, and how to have great justification for otherwise controversial rankings (example: if I were to justify why I prefer The Lost World: Jurassic Park to the original, I’d just say “now those movies are pretty much the same for me, the reason I prefer Lost World to the original is because it has a little more story to it, and a little more higher stakes than the first one.”) now there is more reasoning as to why I may think that but if I did this comment would get way too long, otherwise have a great day & stay safe Cody.

I love The Blair Witch Project. May be my favorite horror move of all time. It has a creepy atmosphere that still sticks with me today. I also never had a watching where I thought it was real. I also really have a strong problem with found footage films. Despite all of that, I still love BWP and consider it an icon as what type of horror I love. A creepy experience that unnerves you and breaks down your comfort zone while showing so little. I respect your opinion, however. Interesting and understandable placements overall. Might give Underworld a shot after this video. Haven't seen it in over 10 years.
I love it, too. One of my favorite found footage films. And I had the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen back in 1999 when it was released in theaters. I love the low budget aspect of it and the fact that I've always thought that the forest/woods is an incredibly scary place. And it leaves the scares up to your imagination. It makes you think. Was there really a witch or wasn't there? Or was it maybe just some evil serial killer person out in those woods that was stalking/hunting them?
I hate found footage, it's not scary but annoying and since that movie made it popular, can't do nothing but hating it for making me have a headache after they end

Can't wait for the next video. Glad you're ok, cos I was starting to worry not seeing any content dropping for 4 days 😊 Just shows how much I've got used to watching you so regularly. As always keep up the good work and thanks for all the effort you put in to making these videos 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️
Watched Blair Witch in the theater in 99. I thought it was stupid but the friend I was with was terrified 😂. I think BW is one of those movies that works for you or it doesn’t. No middle ground.
I absolutely love Saw and the whole franchise tbh. I think if you view the original Saw as more of a thriller it holds up great. I've seen it so many times now and it works for me every time
I love your idea of mixing the franchises in these tier lists, and I understand that you didnt wanted to keep doing this lists with franchises that you already ranked before, but given that you made a tier list of Friday 13th and Elm Street, I would love to see just one video making a tier list of the Halloween franchise to finish the big three slashers. I hope you do it later
Wow, blair witch as the lowest? For me personally, I just love how much this movie leaves the scares up to your imagination. I watch this movie at least once a year. Totally understand the people that dislike it, but personally I love the blair witch.
I love Blair Witch too. It's right up top on literally every other horror tier list on the internet but it seems Cody just doesn't like found footage which is fair enough. You would think though that a movie that singlehandedly kick-started an entire genre would be considered important and recognised as such on any tier list but hey it's his list that's how these things work.
i watched this for the first time a few years ago. i was so excited my mom hyped it up so much, so when it started getting scary, my jaw dropped when the camera cut and the movie ended. my mom and i looked at each other in confusion, like where were the scares? it must have been scarier to someone that watched it when it came out, and she was remembering it better than it turned out to be
Scream is Wes Craven’s greatest film. but how amazing is it that he started 3 different eras of horror. Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream. Wow
This is a great ranking video, and all films were justly positioned I think. There was one major franchise unaccounted for through this series of videos, though. As James Rolfe the Angry Video Game Nerd once said, there are only two kinds of horror movies in cinema history - those that came before 'Night of the Living Dead' and those that came after it. The rest of this awesome and ever-expanding franchise notwithstanding, 'Night of the Living Dead' alone was a landmark, not just for horror, but cinema as a whole. It was literally the "BC/AD change-over", the original 'Sub-Zero Spine Rip' of the film industry, and was arguably the proverbial 'Lewis and Clark' of the MPAA's R-rating. I am legitimately curious as to why that franchise didn't make it in here.
Love, Love, Love this!!! Great films, great idea, totally agree with you on almost all of these. From now on, any guy I date will be given this list and asked to play a game. 😂 I’m not kidding. Keep making awesome content, Cody ❤️
As long as this ranking list involves The Exorcist, Alien, and John Carpenter’s Halloween I’m more than interested to see where they’re all ranked in the list regardless of whether they are guilty pleasures, fan favorites, or classics of the horror genre. I couldn’t agree more about the ranking for the original Nightmare On Elm Street! I’ve been a Freddy Krueger fan since i was a teenager when New Nightmare was available to watch on network television in the mid to late 90’s. I also love The Omen and the fact that Richard Donner directed this horror classic even though he also gave us the first two Superman movies and Lethal Weapons 1-4. One of the things that makes it stand out and intensifies the events of the movie throughout the runtime is the Oscar Winning Score from Jerry Goldsmith. Ave Satani, The Killer Storm, and The Altar are what really sell it for me every time i watch it.
Great idea for a vide series, I'll be looking out for the rest of these. I would also love to see you rank horror comedies. Or maybe discuss the best metal or rock bands that use horror films/horror imagery in their music.
Oh since you did this ranking can you do a versus series? Maybe themed original vs remake where you compare based on certain criteria such as the gore factor etc? Just a suggestion. Love your videos!
@@fire32468 now its 11 but: 11. The Faculty (1998) 10. Return of the Living Dead (1985) 9. Fright Night (1985) 8. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) 7. NOES: Dream Warriors (1987) 6. Poltergeist (1982) 5. Silence of the Lambs (1992) 4. X (2022) 3. The Thing (1982) 2. The Lost Boys (1987) 1. Scream (1996) Thats the list!
@@fire32468 id say if you want super gory, then 10 or 4, if you want a good amount of gore then watch 9, if you want more of a good movie that doesn’t rely so much on blood/gore, then 11 and 2 for sure
I wonder if because Cary Elwes had such a weird performance in Saw, that's why they decided to make his character a villain later on in the franchise. 😅 That's one way to try and make it better haha. And I kind of liked that!
I’m late to watching this 😂. I’m old enough to have seen The Blair Witch Project in theaters. I never believed it was real footage but still thought it was effectively creepy, especially the ending.
Almost 7 minutes in and I agree with everything 100 percent. Sometimes our opinions are polar opposites ( which is a great thing/ opinions shouldn't match all the time ) but I didn't know we agreed on originals to this extent 🤣 keep up the great work Cody!
Great video and I'm looking forward to the rest! I do have to say personally I believe TCM 1974 does hold up well. I actually just watched it for the first time ever a couple months ago and it absolutely got under my skin even in 2022 watching it on my phone on Amazon lol. It really does everything right to me. And I'm glad to see Poltergeist get so much love from more people these days!
Awesome idea. It'll be interesting to see the evolution of these tier lists as the series goes along. Naturally this one is top heavy with Classics and Bloody Good Times. But I'm sure it'll start circling the toilet in Painfuls and Slow Deaths pretty quickly. Exorcist II is guaranteed Slow Death in round 2, and Blade 2 and Aliens might be the only Classics.
You always talk about the yelling of the first Texas chainsaw massacre but in my opinion part 2 is UNWATCHABLE. I needed two Tylenols after hearing stretch yell (only saw it once) idk how you like that one lol
Hi Cody. New subscriber! I had to after you put The Lost Boys, Candyman and Poltergeist on your top tier of your list. Not only that but I completely agree on Saw and Texas Chainsaw. They are just not re-watchable films for me. I have to say I disagree with Blair Witch because I live in the Maryland area quite close to some of the filming locations so it holds a special place for me lol. Also I love Friday the 13th, yes the original. I was like 10 or 11 when I first watched it and a girl scout and spent a few summers at camp so that movie traumatized me and sometimes I like to be re-traumatized haha. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your lists:)
Look, I watched The Blair Witch Project when it first came out in theaters and I didn't find it scary in the least. So I don't think you missed anything. I hated and still hate that film.
It took me awhile to understand fear, games were scarier but as i got older, man, some great movies. Luckily my wife isnt squeamish and likes the scary/gross movies, i love it. Watch alot of these franchises once a year. By the way, amnesia: the dark descent. Scariest thing in any movie/game. Played theough with 3 teens and we all screamed, played it myself and had to put it down for a couple weeks.

The "Fourquel" video showed up in my recommends and as soon as I saw the concept I HAD to find "part 1". Great idea to use this format.
Glad you enjoy it
Alien and Exorcist outside of Horror Classic is an insult to everyone everywhere
And “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, “Psycho,” and “Scream.” And where’s “Night of the Living Dead”?!
He's a joke unfortunately
I used to feel the same way about him but then again it’s his opinion.. it doesn’t make him right at all. I mean the fact that he puts the remake Texas Chainsaw over the OG is hilarious. I don’t give a dam if it has too much screaming towards the end.. it’s a Horror movie about a women descending into madness. 🤷🏽♂️
I like Jessica Biel and I respect the hell out of the Gunnery Sergeant but no.
Cody, gotta say, i can’t wait for 6th movie ranking when you get to talk about freddys dead :)
Killed me when you put alien in tier 2 and not even mentioned the fly. You are a vampire man and that is it.
Same with Psycho!
Yessss another tier list! Been enjoying these videos so much dude!
His rating for the original Friday the 13th hasn't aged so well, if he had redone this ranking now he would definitely steak it in painful
What a great idea, been waiting for this video to drop for days, thank you. Agree with your top tier, I would have added a few more though, Alien, Hellraiser, Evil Dead and Scream.
Yes Candyman is an amazing horror classic & Tony Todd is the MAN! 🔥
Love this type of Tier list, Cody!
Watched Blair Witch in the theater in 99. I thought it was stupid but the friend I was with was terrified 😂. I think BW is one of those movies that works for you or it doesn’t. No middle ground.
Joey Sasso was my favorite person from "Perfect Match" on Netflix 😂
Another killer tier list. Agree on Blair Witch Project and many of the movies. The Lost Boys is such a classic and can rewatch amillion times
I absolutely love Saw and the whole franchise tbh. I think if you view the original Saw as more of a thriller it holds up great. I've seen it so many times now and it works for me every time
I loved this list can't wait to see more.
I love it
I don’t like it at all, but that’s the beauty of having an opinion. I’m just not a fan of shaky cam and this movie wasn’t scary at all for me
I love Blair Witch too. It's right up top on literally every other horror tier list on the internet but it seems Cody just doesn't like found footage which is fair enough. You would think though that a movie that singlehandedly kick-started an entire genre would be considered important and recognised as such on any tier list but hey it's his list that's how these things work.
i agree with Cody, it's an overated piss of sh*t
i watched this for the first time a few years ago. i was so excited my mom hyped it up so much, so when it started getting scary, my jaw dropped when the camera cut and the movie ended. my mom and i looked at each other in confusion, like where were the scares? it must have been scarier to someone that watched it when it came out, and she was remembering it better than it turned out to be
Scream is Wes Craven’s greatest film. but how amazing is it that he started 3 different eras of horror. Hills Have Eyes, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream. Wow
This is very cool. Excited for more. Glad to find another Fright Night fanatic. The rest of the franchise is shaky at best.
Where would you put Black Christmas? Just curious
The original would go to classics
Great idea for a vide series, I'll be looking out for the rest of these.
I would also love to see you rank horror comedies. Or maybe discuss the best metal or rock bands that use horror films/horror imagery in their music.
It always cracks me up to hear you rip on Carey Elwes’ performance in Saw 🤣
Soooo bad
Oh since you did this ranking can you do a versus series? Maybe themed original vs remake where you compare based on certain criteria such as the gore factor etc? Just a suggestion. Love your videos!
Hi! I watched Fright Night right now after watching this and it was amazing! It’s now one of the only 7 horror movies I’ve watched that I rate a 5/5⭐️
Hell yeah
What are the other 6?
@@fire32468 now its 11 but:
11. The Faculty (1998)
10. Return of the Living Dead (1985)
9. Fright Night (1985)
8. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
7. NOES: Dream Warriors (1987)
6. Poltergeist (1982)
5. Silence of the Lambs (1992)
4. X (2022)
3. The Thing (1982)
2. The Lost Boys (1987)
1. Scream (1996)
Thats the list!
@@pugz-official6090 Haven't seen numbers 11, 10, 9, 4, or 2. Definitely adding them to my watchlist!
@@fire32468 id say if you want super gory, then 10 or 4, if you want a good amount of gore then watch 9, if you want more of a good movie that doesn’t rely so much on blood/gore, then 11 and 2 for sure
This is the second video ive watched of yours back to back, and the more i watch the more i think we share a brain.
Killing it as always, I prefer the green screen background tho!
I do as well but these lists are meant to be more casual and less produced.
I wonder if because Cary Elwes had such a weird performance in Saw, that's why they decided to make his character a villain later on in the franchise. 😅 That's one way to try and make it better haha. And I kind of liked that!
Great review Cody. We would love to see you do a vampire movie countdown, that would be interesting to watch 🧛🏻
We have very similar choice in horror classic Cody, great tier choices.
You're one of the VERY few that agrees with me that Evil Dead 1 > Evil Dead 2.
Evil Dead > The Evil Dead
Fr
I agree, and I love Evil Dead 2. I’ll still watch the OG over it.
You’re joking, right? Everyone ive ever asked prefers the original to the sequel.
@@roostermcscratch9060 not in my experience 🤷🏻♂️

Just did.
@@GiggityCorejiggity
Have to work on your comedy James
You put out the best vids man. Looking forward to more of these type
Jeepers Creepers is incredible, and many people worked hard on the film, not just the director.
Bloody good times will definitely ve Halloween 2, Friday the 13th 2, fright night 2,
Classic: also child's play 2
And slow death: also book of Shadows
You always talk about the yelling of the first Texas chainsaw massacre but in my opinion part 2 is UNWATCHABLE. I needed two Tylenols after hearing stretch yell (only saw it once) idk how you like that one lol
I go back and forth on the 3rd act of that one. I don't disagree with you.
The Hills Have Eyes (the Wes Craven version) is an honorable mention
You ranked Jeepers Creepers above Alien. Really dude? Really?
*Checks video*
Yeah
He ranked Phantasm over scream 😂
Jeepers Creepers in my country is called Hungry Eyes.
The Blair witch project is overrated..
I don’t like it either
It took me awhile to understand fear, games were scarier but as i got older, man, some great movies. Luckily my wife isnt squeamish and likes the scary/gross movies, i love it. Watch alot of these franchises once a year. By the way, amnesia: the dark descent. Scariest thing in any movie/game. Played theough with 3 teens and we all screamed, played it myself and had to put it down for a couple weeks.
