I really appreciate this video. I've been bouncing between Spotify and Apple Podcasts for about a year now and never really knew what I was missing until you broke it down. I just downloaded pocket casts and I am excited to see the next level of podcasts. Thank you, you have a new subscriber.
Pocket casts is the best app I have used. It's ui is clean, easy to follow for anyone and just works from the get go. Others like podcast addict and republic on Android have too many features and very bad ui for no reason. I wish for a few more features on pocket casts tho, mainly searching for episodes. Only other competitor is antennapod
I just found out that my Stitcher app is being discontinued in August so this was very helpful in finding an alternative. I just really need one that is used on iphone (what I have) and android (which most of my students have). Thanks!

I’ve used Pocketcasts for over 10 years on both android and iPhone. For the last 6 months or so it’s been unexpectedly dumping podcasts that are next in queue after playing a second or two. Updating and playing with settings doesn’t help. Pocketcasts WAS the best app but the new devs aren’t fixing this. Maybe I’ll give overcast another shot.
Dude everyone loves Spotify. Its music recommendation is just mama miya it's amazing and it also recommends podcasts in the same way , it's the best in class❤❤

Thanks for watching! Once iOS 17 launches in a couple weeks, you may want to take another look at Apple Podcasts. I’m really liking the design and layout in the new version, but still lacks some features that Pocket Casts has, like setting an intro skip per specific episode, skip forward more than 60 seconds, etc.
Love the video, I use Pocketcast and really love it, love overcast too but the main reason I don't use overcast is in the smart playlist you don't have the feature where you can filter episodes released only this week, so when I create a smart playlist it shows every episode of the show. I wish they had that feature or does it come as premium feature, let me know If I am missing anything here

Pocket Casts does it exceptionally well! Syncs between iPhone, iPad, web player or Mac app. I believe Overcast does it too but I have less experience with that.
Pocket cast must have listened to your review. They're up to 40 dollars a year! I found this review while searching for an alternative to Pocket Cast. Imagine my horror when I find out that they are the best! 😂
Haha well I still think they’re the best for power listeners, but iOS 17 is bringing some big changes to the Apple Podcasts app that make it a better experience. It should be out for everyone next week!

Is it just me but i think yt itself have lot of podcast and i like this . I like Google , Spotify and SoundCloud . I like all Spotify original podcasts .
Apple Podcast pisses me off. After an update it reverts carplay steering wheel controls back to previous next instead of the setting I changed it to forward 30 and back 30 seconds. So when I forget and I use my steering wheel to rewind the podcast 30 seconds to just start the entire thing over drives me insane! Can you do a carplay podcast app video?
@@beardfm The tricky part is for my phone to figure out when I actually drop off to sleep to trigger it. That’s a million dollar idea. Maybe Apple Watch related.

Recently some of my favorite podcasts are taking for ever to appear. I know part of it is the podcaster themselves when they upload it but just taking longer than usual. Thanks! The only manual refresh option is if you tap on “Profile” > Scroll all the way down > Refresh Now. That will make Pocket Casts refresh all your feeds and check for new episodes!
On the newest version of the Apple App, is there a way to delete played episodes? Very confusing. Does Overcast or Pocketcast allow you to delete episodes? Thanks.

That’s a good one, since this video I’ve actually switched to the stock Podcasts app in iOS 17. Design is great and the features are catching up with third parties.

For music it certainly has great features, but as a dedicated podcast player it’s pretty middle of the road.
