I would be really happy when this finally arrives to other music services. But right now because of how much it bothers me, I can’t be on Spotify because of how it sounds like the songs are blown and lose a lot of sounds.
@bab027 Spotify has a setting on called "Normalize Audio" intended to keep all the songs playing at the same volume. What that setting does is look for the loudest sound that will be played and make every sound exactly that loud. It affects the balance of the mix and can make it sound a bit off. That is most likely the difference you are hearing.
@@thejman3489 err, no i just really prefer listening to lossless. The difference between mp3 and lossless is huge for me because of the devices i use to listen to music and I really look for that separation and being able to listen to the different instruments used in the track.

As a music nerd, I tried all the streaming services ( Tidal, Spotify, Apple music ... ). Spotify wins in terms of user friendliness, as well as due to the eco system around it. You can literally install it on anything and control everything from your phone. Tidal and Apple music win when it comes to sound quality. Even 320kbs from Tidal and Apple music is better than 320kbs from Spotify. They are clearer and louder. I ended up staying with Apple music because I'm an iPhone user and it works really great. Spotify is TikTok for me, while using Apple music I feel like it's something really mine, if you understand me.
Is the 'Normalize volume' turned on in Spotify while you tested?? If it's turned on, the volume and clarity will be low. If turned off, the sound will be much better.
3:30. it's really true. I personally find that Apple Music runs better on Android than iOs. Crossfade, for example, was available on Android first, while it wasn't available on iOs 15.
I've tried Apple music because I've gotten free subscriptions. The sound quality is noticeably better on Apple music. But what annoys me is they deleted my playlist after my subscription ended. Which is kind of just makes me not want to go back. What's nice about Spotify is I can control what's playing from my Pixel, my PC or my iPad. Is Apple music able to do that?
Oh wow! No it doesn’t work the same with control unfortunately. Though you can play to airplay devices etc Spotify is still much better for that. And that playlist thing is pretty bad! 😞
No perdiste tu lista de reproducción, solo que no te saldrá ya que no has pagado de nuevo al suscripción, cuando te vuelvas a suscribir volverá tu playlist, tranquilo
@@_moisesruiz Actually, it won't. My subscription ended two months ago and I could only resubscribe again 1 week ago. My library was gone, but the artists I checked as favorites were still there
I started using apple on a Samsung phone. I have tried Spotify premium. Apple music is WAY better. I am an avid listener. I have tried and listened to literally every available service. None compare to apple music for me. Always have new music to listen to. I still have all the apps on my devices. But Apple Music is my most used.
Sir you're correct. I am a free Spotify user where I can't even fast forward anymore but I have found the audio coming out of the app is not clearer anymore. I thought because my phone is 5 yrs old it was having this issue but I have asked my friends who have Spotify premium and now you've mentioned it I'm sure that other apps provide better music quality but I kept the app because I have personalised all my playlists there according to my mood and I use the discover section to find new artists and music and listen it to a different app 😅
I personally stopped using it because when I skipped songs too much it would stop playing by itself so I would have to manually click on a song or switch it each time unless I am cleared out all the settings which requires me to turn up sound quality again
This is exactly what I meant when I told my friends Apple Music has better sound quality. I was an android user, and I randomly downloaded Apple Music just to check out the quality, and it blew my mind. Especially I was playing my metal and rock songs, and the difference is night and day. I stopped using spotify since then. I love Spotify recommendations and it’s wrapped, but the diluted quality turn me off after I’ve been exposed to Apple Music.
Either sound check is on or off in Apple Music Or Audio Normalisation is on or off in Spotify Test them both in same settings. Nobody can hear a difference between mp3 320kbps vs lossless Dont believe me? Do a blind test Abx/digitalfeed/net Replace / with dot
I have an iPhone and macOs, but Apple Music usability is so bad for me. If I click on an artist name, it takes me to my library, and not the artist page. I can't drag-n-drop an album to create a playlist inside a folder - and it doesn't let me add an album to a folder, so...
I stopped using Spotify caused the sound quality is really compressed, I listened to the same song in TH-cam music and I was surprised how different it was.
I mean TH-cam has a factually worse sound quality. The main thing TH-cam has is amazing recommendations. Apple Music has great quality but lacking in the algorithm. For me Spotify is like an in between with an added benefit of amazing playlists.
What? 😂 It was reverse in my case. TH-cam compresses EVERYTHING, where Spotify has up to 320kbps. I find Spotify has a clearer sound than YT after compared to the same song in both and shock of the difference, same as you, but reverse.
You also have lossless for apple music in Iphone, but you do it via the settings menu in the Iphone, briefly settings, then you scroll down to Apple Music There you have the settings. And in those settings, you can also choose hires or spatial sound
I installed Apple Music on my Sony phone and it is now even offering me localized pricing, which it didn’t on my Mac. Same price as Spotify, so worth the trial. Thanks, man!
I regularly use both. I mainly kept Spotify around for the recommendations, but I prefer Apple Music in pretty much every other way. However, even Spotify's recommendations seem to have become worse over the years. Also, Apple Music Replay has gotten better. I have been using Apple Music a lot more recently and I went back to Spotify for a day, I am no audiophile and listen through some mid-level speakers and AirPods, but I just find the sound of Apple Music to be much more pleasing, even without lossless.
For me, it’s the access to lyrics that make me gravitate to Apple Music more often than Spotify (I pay for both services). There are simply way more songs that have lyrics available on AM - it’s not even close.
I use TH-cam music and have tidal for free with my phone contract. I use a Samsung galaxy s23 ultra. They both sound amazing in terms of audio quality. I wonder how they compare to Apple music!
@@mrdextrous355 I tried apple music on my Samsung galaxy s23 ultra and it sounded exactly the same as my TH-cam music and my tidal. I don't know if the ios version is different.
@@LenaRose1204 it is because it’s optimised through iOS. Other than iOS no other os can get Dolby atmos or losless audio straight through their phone manufacturer or earbuds unless you actually specifically buy headphones that are optimised just for that. I’m an I phone user but use Spotify, Apple doesn’t have an custom EQ, I also use highest bits on Spotify and again love EQ to adjust bass, mids, Treble
The thing is, you are best using a wired connection for lossless. Hooked up to hi-res headphones. Maybe connect the AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC to your phone to get the best hi-res audio.
I love apple music. It contains all my music that I've downloaded in the past several years and now that I have an Samsung phone, I'm glad I can use it on that platform.
However, one can suspect that an external DAC can provide better sound quality than that found in a phone, especially if the phone is cheap. If you have a computer, you might have a software that outputs exactly the same quantization frequency if you are really careful with the sound. from what I have understood So it is for Apple computers in any case
Every S series samsung phone supports LDAC & High Res Lossless audio not to mention Dolby Atmos built in. I do not know where that info came from but its just wrong, ive been listening to Flac files using Poweramp on android for literal years
It was a TH-cam channel about wifi where they compared different streaming services and also made sure that they all sounded the same loud, he said it can be perceived that it sounds better just because it sounds louder
I switched this year back and forth and as a kind of Rookie Apple User I still think both have their Advantages and Disadvantages. I'm still not entirely sure but I think it will go to Apple Music for me because I'm just so familiar with the Design Language of Apple. Also as a starting Producer I just hear the difference so clearly and Spotify doesn't even come close. Third Reason is that I'm considering Apple One to bundle up multiple Services.
I just like the overall feel of spotify and how many songs I've found that I wouldn't have if it wasn't for their own Playlist compiled from my likes. I'm super obsessed with audio quality and play spotify on my sonos speakers, that sounds amazing already. So for me it's always spotify as I can't go without the spotify connect now and it's so convenient.
Apple music also has spatial audio. which you can get with apple airpods or Beats Bluetooth headphones. You can also get Dolby Atmos at home in the living room easily but an apple tv though probably newer versions
Tried YT Music a while ago, the audio is processed in such a way that despite being lower quality than Spotify, i just preferred the way it sounded. I switched back to Spotify mainly because of Connect though. Just can't beat that
A Tesla guy on TH-cam claims. that the sound from Tidal is more dynamic than from Spotify. on the other hand, he said that he used to listen offline, that there could be problems online, it probably has to do with things like mobile coverage and the speed when hifi on Tidal apparently according to the screen corresponds exactly to that of an original CD 1411 kpps
Great upload, I've just switched to Apple Music from Spotify on my S23 Ultra and the difference for me is the sound quality , it's a class above. I'm no spring chicken either I'm 53 and a life long audiophile.
I have been using apple music for a while now and honestly, one of the absolute best music service that i have ever used. The sound is crisp and the difference is so audible that its hard to express. The audio seems alive. I use buds 2 pro with my s23u and weirdly enough, i use apple music. I still pay dor spotify but what can i say
I am agree about the quality of the sound. I'm a long-time user of spotify and recently discover that even with youtube music, the sound from spotify app is bad. Spotify really needs to fix this
Spotify is the better option for the largest audience. Quality honestly doesn't matter much. I even know people who switched from apple Music to spotify for the features, and they don't care about the quality drop. There is ONE feature, tho that I would like to see on spotify, and I think they might implement it soon. The karaoke mode/turning off the voice.
I was on a android few days ago but now im on a iphone and i discover the last spotify update… can’t even select a music in a playlist now… what is that ??
if nothing has changed, apple music also has playlists for spatial audio. and since you can get Dolby Atmos with apple tv , you should also be able to get regular 5.1 sound, because Dolby must be backwards compatible, right?
I go back and forth a lot! One day I’ll decide. The audiobooks on Spotify is hard to resist but I like the light mode and overall interface of Apple a lot better.
Spotify Hifi has been talked about for a long time and I waited and waited, when apple announced lossless music for no extra cost I cancelled Spotify and Tidal and switched… Classical music is clearer and the bluetooth issue is a thing true, but what the bluetooth codecs can do with a lossless file is still better than what they do with compressed files so I’m fine with that.

I picked Spotify for now but I have heard from you and others that Apple Music has much better sound quality. I will consider adding another service just for better sound quality hopefully later on 🙂
I have always preferred Apple Music. Sounds better plus I liked how I can add one or two songs from an album vs the album. I don’t like making playlists like that for two songs. Lossless for free on Apple Music is icing on the cake
I love Spotify, but about a year ago when they started pushing spoken-word content on the main app page, I realized I like my podcast/audiobook app(s) and music apps to be different. So I went back to Apple Music. Oh, and the other reason was Spotify never brought out their lossless tier. That said, Spotify is still the best for AI recommendations. In that regard, Apple isn't terrible, but not the best.
I accidently ripped my cd for 320 bitrate. but I really didn't hear any difference compared to normal 128 or 192 bitrate mp3. but file size difference was huge. so I prefer normal bitrate mp3.

been using both since 2016 (apple music), & 2018 (Spotify), And I can say Apple Music has been better for years, Of the two AM was the only one that I can see has improved drastically through the years. also the one really cool thing I love is that AM has a dedicated downloaded songs section, which Spotify still doesn't have. The only downside is the connect feature which is actually understandable as Apple is a tech company with other product so they have to keep some features for themselves. I just wish they had a tv app though.
Been a Apple music boy for a long time for the lossless audio as I could hear the difference between that and Spotify massively! But recently decided try out YT music and been pleasantly surprised! Did a thorough test between AM and YTM quality through my high fidelity headphones and there wasn't that much difference imo. The YTM UI was also a surprise and loving it over AMs UI. But will always lean towards AM cause it's free with my phone contract 😂
Personally I've thoroughly tested both and couldn't tell the difference that much, but at the same time it wouldn't surprise me cause TH-cam does add a lot of compression when artists upload their songs and vids. But through my headphones it's negligible to me. Apple will always be top right now over them two anyway

I have been off it for 5 months after being a member for 10 yeara. I don't miss but I don't care about artists/bands lives or songs anymore with so many of my own problems to worry about
I was a Spotify user but I deleted my account from there coz of the fact that as a free user, I can listen only songs on random mode but I cannot skip more than 6 songs in a day. But the moment when I switched to Apple Music, the experience was amazing as it contains Dolby Audio and Lossless Audio❤
I use apple music for a few reasons. 1. I love the look of apple music, it gives off this quality feel where spotify just feels cluttered or something. 2. It works so much better on iphone, not because apple is locking down spotify, but because they are able to build so much more into there own app. I am also not one to listen to music recommendation systems very much so I honestly couldnt care less about spotify being technically better when neither is bad.
yes true, I think this is largely due to integrated software which is of course apples biggest selling point. sound quality difference is very noticeable.
Thanks for the info. No I have S24 ultra, and Deezer hi subscription. I know that Samsung usb-c can deliver 32bit/386khz; So is Samsung AKG wired headphones/apple usb-c earbuds enough to get the hi-ress music quality? (Because I heard those headphones do have built in Dac).
Apple music's quality shines on MacBooks, that's probably why they have it. MacBook Pro users are often straight up musicians and they'll have proper expensiverald headphones with the wires to plug into their macs and listen to music with them using whatever surprisingly not garbage DAC apple includes on the apple silicon MBPs. It even supports 96khz and can now drive 300ohm HD600 proper cans
Just the opposite for me mate. I went from Spotify to Apple music and stayed for a long time until I tried Spotify again just recently. 2 months now. But right now because of how much it bothers me, I can’t be on Spotify because of how it sounds like the songs are blown and lose a lot of sounds.
@@bab027 Turn off audio normalization in Spotify settings. Boom now the quality is the same.

Though you can play to airplay devices etc
Spotify is still much better for that.

Likewise! I’m enjoying it a bit more because it keeps playing all the old punk rock music I used to listen to lol
However, one can suspect that an external DAC can provide better sound quality than that found in a phone, especially if the phone is cheap. If you have a computer, you might have a software that outputs exactly the same quantization frequency if you are really careful with the sound. from what I have understood So it is for Apple computers in any case

Even with Premium, Spotify’s audio quality is lower than some competitors like Tidal or Apple Music.

I go back and forth a lot! One day I’ll decide. The audiobooks on Spotify is hard to resist but I like the light mode and overall interface of Apple a lot better.
Spotify Hifi has been talked about for a long time and I waited and waited, when apple announced lossless music for no extra cost I cancelled Spotify and Tidal and switched…

On Spotify you can change the audio quality depending on your network (Wifi or mobile data) maybe if you higher this the quality will be better?
I love Spotify, but about a year ago when they started pushing spoken-word content on the main app page, I realized I like my podcast/audiobook app(s) and music apps to be different. So I went back to Apple Music. Oh, and the other reason was Spotify never brought out their lossless tier. That said, Spotify is still the best for AI recommendations. In that regard, Apple isn't terrible, but not the best.
One setting that degrades the sound quality in Spotify is normalize volume. Once I turned that off it made a big difference in sound quality

been using both since 2016 (apple music), & 2018 (Spotify), And I can say Apple Music has been better for years, Of the two AM was the only one that I can see has improved drastically through the years. also the one really cool thing I love is that AM has a dedicated downloaded songs section, which Spotify still doesn't have. The only downside is the connect feature which is actually understandable as Apple is a tech company with other product so they have to keep some features for themselves. I just wish they had a tv app though.
And I'm back to iTunes and iPod. Completely free of interruptions from notifications, nobody secretly deleting tracks from my old playlists.
Dolby atmos supposed to be surround audio, like literally 360 degree, because it's literally meant to surround with sound
But will always lean towards AM cause it's free with my phone contract 😂

youtube music quality is worst than spotify
Personally I've thoroughly tested both and couldn't tell the difference that much, but at the same time it wouldn't surprise me cause TH-cam does add a lot of compression when artists upload their songs and vids. 1. I love the look of apple music, it gives off this quality feel where spotify just feels cluttered or something.
2. It works so much better on iphone, not because apple is locking down spotify, but because they are able to build so much more into there own app.
