The Nike Mercurial series is and has been the most popular line of football boots for a while now, and for good reason. They represent the pinnacle of what's possible when it comes to the peak performance characteristics, always using the latest boot tech. With that in mind, sometimes Nike does slip up. I think you know where I'm going with this.
In today's video I compare the outgoing, but exceptional Nike Mercurial Vapor 13 Elite to the brand new Nike Mercurial Vapor 14 Elite. Nike have hyped up a bunch of new tech with the latest generation, but have they improved, or actually gone backwards? Which one is better? I go over all of the details, and let you know whether or not the latest edition for 2021 is worth the upgrade. Do you think the Vapor 14 is better than the Vapor 13 is replaces?

i play in vapor 13 for 2.5 years, i bought 5 months ago superfly 8 (vapor 14 with sock) and i played in them about a month, after that i sold the superfly 8 and i go back to vapor 13
in my opinion this are the best football boots ever made and i tried some of the newest shoes but it is not the same as vapor 13

Just sent my 14’s back and bought some more 13’s. For me the 13’s are near enough perfect I found my heel slipping like crazy in the 14’s

Vapor 14s remind me of the old synthetic days with better responsiveness and lockdown. Definitely a upgrade needed for years. The TRUE Mercurial is back. 💪🏼
I have tried the mecurial vapor 13s a lot and used the phantoms but for both the side of my foot (the inside of the boot) sinks into the side of the boot. Its really uncomfortable only there. Do you think it will be better to go for an Adidas speedflow .1? My feet are quite narrow

I've had vapor 13s for almost 2 years playing on FG/AG fields. Amazing shoes, best fit ever. The studs seem to weaken but still wearable and playable in important games. Not planning to upgrade to 14s at the current price. I'd go with discounted 13s(any color)

The changing of the upper coming away from the fly kit has killed the mercurial.. the boot simply doesn’t hug your toe area as well as the 13s.. I bet everybody who has 14s can agree the shape of the boot when you have them on is flapping over the sole and not snug.. reason why so many footballers are leaving mercurial: haaland, Reece James, Kyle walker the colourways and design look great but the tech is not as good as 13s
Haaland and Reece James both wear Mercurials, with Reece James still wearing the Vapor 14s to this day(mid October, 22) as was Haaland for the longest time, until he switched to the Vapor 15s early October, 2022.

Just got my cur Rex insoles today! They feel really good so far and my feet don’t hurt so far as well!
It is quite bizarre wearing both boots for a session. If you got both pairs, I highly suggest giving it a go; just for the experience. After doing so, I came away enjoy the the 14’s more but also thinking the 13’s were better. Although 14’s fg are better then 13’s fg on artificial grass pitches... even though your not supposed to play on those with either boot.

The upper will just come down to preference, but visually, the 13 looks so much better. The see through design on the 14 looks very weird. 14s also look like riced up boots with those speed wings

i have both vapor 13s and vapor 14 elites acc versions and i can say the 13s feel so much different materials wise the 14s are just lighter i think the 13s feel better

The vapor 14 is one of the best mercurials, it's just that the Vapor 13 is really hard to top. 14s are still worth it imo
Easy answer is yes. They should do new tech every 3 years and new designs every year. There is no way they can innovate and test new tech every year. There aren't enough days on the calendar.
I feel like a good way to know if a new gen boot is better than the previous is how quickly players switch from the old get to the new gen. Ex: a bunch of pros havent switched to the x ghosted after all this time and im pretty sure son switched back to the older gen for a couple matches

A bit backwards. But I do appreciate the slight change of fit. As someone who’s right on the line between sizes. The 14 doesn’t give me top of the toe knuckle blisters or stress on the toenails. Great review as always 👏

@@nickortiz215 several. For me the much softer and grippy knitted material was more pleasant. I'm willing to sacrifice the ultimate loxkdown for a more plush feel. It fits me perfectly which obviously makes a big difference and I liked the Astetic more.

@@RushStriker9 I would most def not say it was softer. Imo it felt more plastic. Also w the high tenacity yarns u get enough grip and texture without having to put the little rubber elements. We can both surely agree tho that the 14 is underwhelming
Vapor 12 was def stiffer and more plasticky. Wasn’t for me but any vapor soft than the 12 is better IMO.
@@nickortiz215 I had the superfly vi, which is essentially the same and I 100% agree. The upper never softened up for me, it was surprisingly rigid. They looked the part but they weren’t supple

@@einfachnein3101 Actually I bought 14 Pro Tf and at first I was a little bit disapointed. i have had couple of vapors always academy like tier, these 14s are my first Pro version. I feel like they are almost to thin, specially where laces are. laces like dig in my foot when tighten up and there are more heel slippage than i would have liked, sole plate is kinda too agressive there is too much traction for me. Now 6/10 but now they are breaking in so in the future maybe 7,5/10. Im getting old so next going for mizuno turfs.

Wearing the Freaks without spikes and upgrading to the Nike mercurial elite 13 i found them to be perfect no blisters and pain compared to my freaks which gave me blisters to the point I was in pain, I loved the speed flows and the other boots like the speed flows but love laces scoring 152 goals for my team with the mercurial and loving the comfort and fit along with the feel of not much of a difference between the 14 and 13 to be honest. The boots you should get aren't one's people say the best you need one's that you enjoy wearing and comfort is a massive part in buying a boot alongside anybody can play in a boot and get different performance out of them. Even old classic boots

same as any other boots, wear them around the house, light sessions until they’re comfortable and then you’re good to go

@@marco7838 adidas speed boots are much more narrower not sure after break in though
I just wasnt a huge fan of that translucent coating the Vapors leaves behind after playing in water.
Did you know the tail on the back provides "heel protection" against kicking? If somebody tries to kick you from behind while you do a stepoer, the tail protects your tendon.
Despite the technical Aspects i just think the vapor 14 colourways are awfull i definitely Prefer the vapor 13 colourways

for me mercurial superfly 7 elite is better cause of the weight its lighter then the 8 or else why is it a speed boot if superfly 8 is a bit heavier
Well I have both and after many matches I can say I like the new mercurials they feel softer and thinner then the last mercurial! After a few sessions the vapor 13 upper felt 10x softer and even in hand feeling then it was softer but just my opinion

i have the same issue with the 14s in an 8.5. from my 12s in an 8.5 should I go half a size down for the 13 or do they fit better
What if you are new and haven't experienced either do I go for the 14 or the 13?
the 13s have been my favorite cleats I have ever gotten so I would definitely recommend them that being said if the 14s come out with a better color way I will most likely be getting them and I imagine they won’t feel too different

If you think thin synthetic uppers feel cheap, then yes, they'll feel cheap to you. If you like the feel of thin synthetic uppers, I think this is quite a good one. It's not cheap, but if you don't like uppers like that, it probably wouldn't be the best choice for you.
