    Great video!
    I think the saramonic sounds better.. deeper and more natural without anyting. The noice cancelling is clearly better with the DJI.. Bur I wouldnt use that tho. The app-thing looks really great as well to be able to monitor clearly. But as it is 32-bit float in-mic then that would be necessary either.. Hmm.. Was sooo into getting the DJI mic 2.. But this might change things.. There's always something new... :)

      Thanks Kym! This is a good one! Saramonic is no doubt one of the best out there when it comes to sound quality.

      @@PhillipSkraba and it's not made of shiny/glossy plastic either. Cheers.

    Thank you Phillip.
    I need to do more research, but I do want something like this (the S.Ultra that is). I also need something for live streaming, and if I can get both together in 1 system, then all the better.

    The DJI Mic 2 sounds a bit better but the value of Saramonic seems like a great value. If you don't have any other DJI devices - otherwise they've done a really good job at locking us in :) Just like Apple.

    So many choices.

      ...and that is great! The more competition the better, it means companies will keep pushing to create tools that will make our work process better.

    Thanks for the video! So since the saramonic microphone is not bluetooth, i wonder if this is an issue? Because the voice recording is done inside the transmitter, correct? So basically you do not need a receiver connected to the camera? Only question is, how do you merge in post the video recording of the camera with the voice recording of the transmitter? Sorry if this is maybe a stupid question.....

      Sure, well, it connects wirelessly to the receiver on camera, so it does record audio straight to the camera. As for 32-bit Float, all mics record to the mic itself, so you need to copy the audio file to your computer and sync it. I use a clap, it's that simple. Clap so you have an audio spike on your camera and a visual reference of your hands hitting each other, and then place the mic spike with the camera audio spike in the same place, mute the camera audio and you're done. No stupid questions, not to worry.

      @PhillipSkraba thanks this is very helpful. Have not seen this easy idea before. This will allow to forget about connecting a receiver to the camera at all. Just use the transmitter voice 32bit float and follow the trick with clapping hand. Nobody ever needs a bluetooth microphone anymore....

      haha so true, that's how I've been doing it for 20+ years! That's how the motion picture world did if until timecode dropped, hence the clapper.

    Man, Saramonic always kill it but don't usually knock it out of the park in the aesthetic department 😂 DJI Mic 1 was so sleek and compact, the Mic 2 is alright I guess with the transparent mics but super ugly sticker magnet, but the Saramonic Ultra just looks a tad heavy/bulky, would always use lavs but in the event a talent is only wearing a shirt (I live in a tropical nation) + need to use the clip/magnet, might tug the shirt down even more so than other mics. Other than that, its features, the sound, all great. Thanks for the excellent comparison video

    DJI is good if you are already in their ecosystem like Pocket 3 or Action 5. You can connect the mic to those cameras without external receiver.

    No Bluetooth?

    • @PhillipSkraba
      @PhillipSkraba  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No bluetooth, no. DJI is the only one with bluetooth, which is odd, and DJI to DJI is the only one that sounds any good with bluetooth. DJI to smartphone, DJI to Insta360, it all sounds bad via bluetooth, so I guess most companies side-step that option.
