    I have been a Canva Pro user for years, and Canva is an awesome tool. After watching this video, I'm confused about EXACTLY what you can and can't do with the Pro designs. I have a very simple question: besides lots of great features, what are we, as Pro users paying for? I thought that by being a Pro user and paying a subscription, we were paying for the right to use the Pro designs - NOT AS IS, but to modify and use them. Is that not the case? I also assumed that a portion of our subscription payments was going to the creators for the right to use the designs, is that true, or not? Anytime a company's terms and conditions are confusing and have so many caveats, I don't want to deal with them because it is too complicated. I would appreciate further clarification. Thanks.

      Hey there, you are right with what you thought (in using and modifying Pro designs and commission to the creators). This new help article may help you understand more: www.canva.com/help/using-canva-to-create-products-for-sale
      Also, stay tuned for a Design School video on this topic in the coming weeks, where we hope to make this even clearer. And please contact our support team if you want further clarification: (www.canva.com/help) They'll be able to help more with your specific needs.

      @@canva I wrote a Children curriculum book where I add Canvas content likes graphics and elements. I would like to submit my book on Amazon KDP. I have been looking and searching on how can I protect my work. I already know that I don’t own the element or graphics that I used on my book, but I Canvas gives me the license for use them and sell them. I’m not using them as they are, I added more material to them to change them as Canvas policy, but I still have my doubts on how do I protect my writing.

    Hello, I have conflicting answers but hopefully you will be able to clarify. If I use a canva pro element in my design, if when I sell template to customer pro element in it and they come back to canva to alter, will the water mark be evident on the pro element ?? Meaning if they don`t have a pro account they have to pay $1 for all elements used?

    Please explain this line from your license agreement: ..." license to use Pro Content or Pro Template in a single Canva Design..." because that isn't clear. Does that mean that a pro element can only be used one time in one design, then not used again? Is that only if it is stand alone? For me the bottom line is, can pro elements be combined with other elements as part of multiple designs and can those designs (which have been added to and enhanced, not stand alone) be used for POD products? Also, with regards to the smart mockups, that one design license makes it sound like you can use that mockup only one time, is that accurate? Thank you.

    • @canva
      @canva  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, I'm assuming you have the Pro (or Canva for Teams) subscription? If so, then you are fine to keep reusing elements in multiple designs. It's just if you are purchasing a on-off license then you can only use it for the original design and will need to repurchase each time.

    • @canva
      @canva  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As for the POD products - this video has some extra details - th-cam.com/video/lIfqNlcxmSs/w-d-xo.html
      But, just so you're completely confident, I'd suggest contacting www.canva.com/help/get-in-touch/contact-support/ - there you can even upload an image so they can advise on your specific need. It's the best way to make sure. And, if there is any concern they will advise a way forward too.

      @@canva Can I say that in the CANVA design community, they have specifically said NOT to trust canva support when asking about licensing matters. That have said that you cannot go on the word of Canva support, (seems to change whoever you speak to) and this is incredibly disconcerting. You really need to simplify your licensing, it's way too confusing for people. Somewhere like Creative Fabrica for example are INCREDIBLY clear about how you can use images and it would help greatly if Canva improved this. I think all this confusion will lose you customers - especially now it's so easy to create your own clipart using Ai anyway!

      @@limitlesschannel9849 "from your understanding" that means your interpretation. He did not mention print on demand specifically. Which means it's up for people to interpret and again causes confusion.
      He said you can make shirts etc as long as the designs are unique, BUT he ca also have meant that you can make them, but only print yourself at home, with your own tools and then sell it on.

    The license agreement doesn't appear to answer this question so hopefully you can. Say I have a pro subscription or a pro trial, so I create a design using pro elements. I then later cancel the subscription, or the trial, is the license then rescinded?
    Whilst the licence does say it is perpetual, it is not clear on whether that is limited by subscription status. It also states the agreement and license may be altered in any way and at any time and, importantly without notice (which makes canva impossible for any commercial work). Is there a way to get a reliable, static license for designs created in canva with pro content that is not limited by subscription and can not be altered posthumously? If not there's no point in usijng canva for any work other than a personal project, because the license could change to exclude a use at any point and the work would have to be deleted. Similarly if a subscription expired.
    It is also unclear from the license agreement how the license rights would be should canva go out or business.

Regarding using the PRO stock images in my design: if I don't want to use the photo in its "bare", standard form but instead include it in my design to complement it and use it as a featured image on my site, can I do that freely without crediting anyone? Hi. I'm still confused about using Pro elements in selling my digital products. I am NOT selling templates. I am selling digital products, like planners and journals, as PDF files that are flattened and not editable by the end user. I want to use Pro elements in my own compositions, change the colors, put them on background with text around them, and other elements incorporated into the overall layout. Is this allowed? It seems that this would be allowed, but some people in groups I am in are saying I cannot use ANY Pro elements in any digital products I am selling, at all, end of story. I am very confused by this and want to get a definitive answer from Canva. Can I use Pro elements in digital printable products sold as PDFs that cannot be edited by the end user? Thank you!

I tried giving an example of one of my digital Prints that I made to see if it would be okay to sell but all they do is reiterate what is on the licensing page or refer me back to it. Your answer to the question, "Can I sell the designs I produce in Canva"? was basically yes if the Canva elements are altered and not used as is without revision, making the design your own. You gave an example of an altered image that was very clear with use on T-shirts and mugs. The original image was transformed using fonts and additional elements. But I was just told that using designs created on Canva for commercial use only applies to users with Pro Accounts. Not users with Free Accounts. This is not mentioned here and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the Canva site. Are there different Free account vs Pro account commercial usage rights when using free elements? Is this something new or was the Canva representative mistaken? Please provide clarity when you have a chance. Thank you in advance.

    Good vid. Need more though. ;) Not a lot was covered on digital use and I have several questions, even though I've read through the license terms on Canva, which don't really specify much about digital content besides templates. For example, what if I want to use several graphics put-together that still some act as stand-alone in the whole, but the set together combined create something else? I know that's probably too vague but is there someone I can email or chat with so I can provide more detials? Also, what is allowed in terms of creating digital download content? The terms only list e-books and magazines, which for most of us who sell digital items, that's not the main use... What about cards, gift tags, certificates, song visuals, and so many other things?

    Thanks very much Will. And Canva Team. I was confused about the Canva licensing. So it is almost like a regular copyright licensing. Especially on products for me. And the music I did find out the hard way as I gain a copyright strike for the music on my TH-cam channel. It was not bad but I just didn't place the name of the song for the short form video. It was just an example of how to make a short commercial. So it didn't affect my channel. Overall, thanks again for the clarification on licensing. I have a question though, if I use only text can it be used on digital and physical products? As some people might license their font.

    So, I want to start a small business selling things. Just to be completely sure, these are the things that I am allowed to do right?:
    - Use images from Canva on mugs/notebooks/T-shirts to sell as long as I change the color and add some text to make it more unique and personalized.
    - Use the AI generator and sell those generated images as long as I make my prompt VERY specific so that it will be original
    -Mix and match several different logo designs I get inspiration from until I come up with something that looks different enough to trademark and call my own?
    - Use designs as they are for TH-cam videos as long as I don't take credit for the images/videos in question.
    Did I get everything right??

    Zazzle just removed a composite abstract design I made on my pro account with Canva elements for a wall banner. I combined elements. It's not a template or a single element. It's my design but it has elements by other artists. So Why? I don't really get it. I thought maybe I'd have to pay more if I actually sold a certain number of products but that does not seem to be the case. What CAN you use these elements for?

    Good info! My question is regarding a template. Maybe you partially covered this in the video but here goes: I would like to use a logo template but I have changed the font and the element so that it isn't the original template but "inspired" by it. For example, say I changed a watercolor-like graphic element of a dog from the original template to a cat. Would that be a breach of trademark and make it prohibited from use on a Shopify shop? Thanks.
