- During a press briefing, journalist challenged US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller regarding the characterization of the UNSC Ceasefire Resolution as 'non-binding.' 'We didn't veto because we thought the language, as it relates to the cease-fire, and the release of hostages, was consistent with the long-standing United States position,' Miller added. According to the UN Charter, all Security Council resolutions are legally binding under international law. Israel is in compliance with the Biden administration’s national security memorandum, which says any country receiving weapons from the US must provide 'credible and reliable' assurances that they’re following humanitarian law.

If UNSC is not binding then the proclamation of State of Israel should be void.
With other words: its nice to have the UN for the formality and we decide whether we act upon it based on our interests. The Security Council resolutions hold a binding force. Rejecting their authority is tantamount to denying the existence of international law.

In many occasions the US consider UNSC resolutions binding only if they are in favor of the US or their allies, other resolutions like the UNSC Resolution like the 242 and 338 were never considered as binding nor for Israel or the US. So why would you expect the US to change it's mind?
