No shadow 05 level or infinite boss fight in the game is a crime. Also for levels already in the game I like all the picks but I really wish they did final fortress for heroes it’s such a cool looking level and would’ve looked even better with the visuals for this game.
At the time of Sonic X Shadow Generations, Shadow and Infinite hadn't met. They could pull a Mephiles situation where Infinite from the future knows Shadow but Shadow from the present doesn't, but that was already done with Mephiles and it'd be boring to do it twice. And he can't replace Mephiles either, Mephiles was specifically crafted to be the final test of Shadow's amnesia/identity crisis arc (tempting him with certain betrayal and offering revenge to show how much he's grown since SA2), whereas Infinite was only crafted to look edgy and only gained an association with Shadow to sell DLC
Nah, Black Comet absolutely should've been the final level. I get Westopolis being where Shadow first meets Black Doom, but Black Comet is a way better final level, and is the fortress of the Black Arms.
@mondopatrick that'd be a good idea. Tbh, the assets used for Radical Highway barely even look like Radical Highway without some of the iconic level design. You could easily repurpose it to look like Westopolis.
There’s a theory that the reason radical highway is used is because shadows anger could make it easier for black doom to control him. So black doom keeps taking him back to the point where shadows anger was at its peak, being radical highway. Black doom wants shadow to be like he was back then, Angry and full of destruction. With how much shadow gens story is so focused on his mental, if this theory is true then I think it’s actually a perfect fit for a final stage, But that’s just me. Just wanted to share how I felt about the stage in this game :)
Actually not a theory, this was confirmed in the Sonic X Shadow Takeover as someone asked why did Doom sent Shadow a ton to Radical Highway and Shadow stated that Doom used the stage basically as a reminder of the time he was at his lowest to torment Shadow.
I like the stage choices outside of Chaos Island. That's the most blatant case of asset reuse present in the campaign, and there should have been a Shadow 05 stage in its place. No Westopolis when it's infamous for needing to be played through 10 times? No Black Comet or Sky Troops? At the very least the Ark could have served as some representation.
Here’s my problem with westopolis to be the level that represents shadow 05 if it was in shadow generations THERE ARE TOO MANY CITY LEVELS IN SONIC AND SHADOW GENERATIONS COMBINED THERE ARE SEVEN CITY LEVELS IN BOTH OF THE GAMES COMBINED SPEED HIGHWAY CITY ESCAPE CRISIS CITY ROOFTOP RUN SUNSET HEIGHTS RADICAL HIGHWAY AND THE NEWLY ADDED TOKYO
Sonic forces speed battle did something interesting: "Golden bay zone" is based on sonic 1 movie... But one look at it and you can immediately tell it's just city escape. With this in mind, "Tokyo" is Westopolis.... Tho in music only...
Really, the only changes I would make for the stage choices would be to re-arrange the stage order a tad and replace Chaos Island. I know it implies that Shadow will visit it in the future, but I really can't think of a reason why he would go there now that the The End is gone. With Chaos Island gone, I'd move Radical Highway inbetween Space Colony ARK and Rail Canyon in order to have something different act as the final stage. The argument for Westopolis is one I have shared, but I've since changed my mind to the Black Comet. Given that we already technically have 2 town/city stages with Radical Highway and Sunset Heights, we'd need a different environment to keep things fresh and varied. More than that, however, it would a perfect final stage to represent the link between Shadow and Black Doom, especially when the latter's whole plan is to use the link between them in order to take control of Shadow. Shadow would be forced to confront the fact that the Black Comet is technically where he truly came from, mirroring Shadow's decision to put the past behind him after his first victory over Black Doom. Stage-wise, it could be a really good chance to utilise all of his Doom powers, using Doom Surf to glide safely over the toxic liquid instead of having to use the Black Arms Saucer like before, and using Doom Morph to move through those puddles that you had to spindash through or swinging across pits using those floating mines. It could also give us a couple of cool segments where the stage actually leads Shadow outside of the comet for a small segment before getting back inside at a different point, perhaps through a Chaos Control point or even a section that can only be traversed with Doom Wing, both having separate establishing shots as the camara pans over to see the full Black Comet with the ARK and Earth in the background.
@@mondopatrick I appreciate we got *longer* stages for Shadow Generations since we have less stages. But I wish we got more! Radical Highway was defo a challenge at first to get a fast time.
Imagine in the forces level it’s black doom(so you think at first)but it’s actually an infinite illusion who glitches slightly revealing its infinite, that way it keeps canon and shadow doesn’t recognize infinite later on
Hear me out, have you played Sonic Forces Overclocked? I'm specifically thinking of the final boss. Spoilers if not It would have been wild but so cool if the final level started in a short segment of Westopolis with multiple paths, and each lead to different doom portals that take you to short segments of different levels in Shadow 05. Each of those leads to one more segment from abother level, and they all eventually lead to a segment inside the black comet. It would be an interesting representation of Shadow 05s mechanics, add huge replay value and would be a great spectacle! Obviously, its pretty unrealistic for them to make all those assets for so many segments most people wouldnt see, but a linear level warping between 3 or 4 Shadow stages would have been cool too. The transitions could have been like when the levels transform into Radical Highway
Sonic Adventure 2: White Jungle or Sky Rail. Sonic Heroes: Grand Metropolis, Hang Castle or Egg Fleet. Shadow The Hedgehog: Westopolis, Lethal Highway, Central City, Digital Circuit, GUN Fortress, Circus Park, Mad Matrix, Lava Shelter, Cryptic Castle, Black Comet, Final Haunt, or Sky Troops. Sonic 06: White Acropolis, Aquatic Base, Wave Ocean, Dusty Desert, or Flame Core. Sonic Forces: Metropolitan Highway. They should've added Infinite and Knight as bosses.
6:57 Space Colony ARK is not a representation of The Ark from Shadow '05, nor any of the other levels that take place on the Ark in that game because none of the mechanics in act 1 or act 2 are from Shadow '05. There's not the gravity altering fields from Space Gadget, there isn't a Black Hawk riding segment like in The Ark, and it doesn't take place in the main structure like The Doom or Lost Impact. It's a reference to Final Chase: Shadow starts the level grinding along a rail that does a loop, and there's the gravity pillars in act 2. Space Colony ark is firmly an SA2 callback. Edit: Westopolis would've been a poor choice as a representative from Shadow '05. It had no noteworthy stage gimmicks, and it's aesthetically very similar to Radical Highway and the Tokyo DLC stage. My pick would've been the Black Comet: there's way more iconic sections to recreate in those levels, more room for potential stage gimmicks, and it's way more plot relevant for Black Doom since it's his home and getting it onto earth was his main goal.
True but in this scenario radical highway would not be in the game and westopolis would be the sole city level as for space colony ARK in reality if we get into it its neither Final Chase or ARK from shadow 05 because shadow was not brought back to the past to visit it but rather visited it in present day, so its really up for interpretation
@@Hewasnumber1 good someone else pointed out that westopolis is a poor choice and that there are better level to pick out from shadow 05 also I wrote this in my comment but there are way too many city levels in sonic and shadow generations combined and to keep it brief there are seven city levels total in both sonic and shadow generations combined and if westopolis was in shadow generations that would total up to half of shadow generations and the city levels already take up half of sonic generations and if there was a level from shadow 05 in shadow generations I would pick black comet in my opinion that is the best level choice westopolis is just a terrible choice all around and radical Highway already gets too much representation in the game in my opinion and radical highway Should not have been the final level in shadow generations either
I don't really think there's any stages I would've changed at all, the ones chosen all seemed to share a cross between being of huge significance to Shadow's story as well as being locations Sonic has traversed through in the past (remember White Space and the Time Eater incident occurred because Eggman wanted to erase his past defeats against Sonic and Shadow's journey with defeating Black Doom was just a consequence of it.) Radical Highway was more Black Doom's doing than it was the Time Eater as Shadow enters the Black Moon to get into it, and Chaos Island can also be arguable, but I like to think there'll be some future development where Shadow does go there for some reason, or even making some connection between the Black Arms and the Ancients. I'd have rather added some stages. Tokyo from Sonic Movie 3 was a fun time for me and loved mastering it, but I think some kind of Shadow 05 pack would've been fun. Say you get to pick 3 levels from that game, I'd probably say Prison Island, Sky Troops, and Black Comet as they all hold significance to both Shadow, his story, and his connection to the Black Arms - I understand why people would like Westopolis but I personally wouldn't want to fit so many city levels into the game.
I believe the final stage of shadow generation is not just one stage; have shadow go through a Two Minute Long in every stage that has true meaning to Shadow. Make it Black Doom Trying To guilt Trip Shadow Through What He Has Done Emphazing His Is Nothing But A Destroyer But Half-Way Make Maria's Words Remind Him That He Is Not And His Friends He Made It Along The Way As He Then Takes Control Of The Stage Control As He Passes Through Each Stage Until He Makes To The Last Way As There He Confronts Black Doom As he Did Once More. ~ First Stage: Radical Highway ~ Where Shadow's Path Of Retrubition Starts ~ Second Stage: Westopolis ~ Where He Meets Black Doom And His Words Manipulate Shadow ~ Thrid Stage: Space Conoloy Ark ~ Spcificly When G.U.N Raids It And Kills Maria However, This is Where Maria's Words Kick In, And He Remembers All The Good. ~ Fourth Stage: Thunder Deck With Rouge And Omega ~ Some Level In Sonic Battle Where He Teams Up With Emerl ~ Great Callback ~ And Finally The Last Stage: The Last Way ~ This Is Where I Say This Should Shadow Bond With The Black Arms End And This Time Truly Moves On With His Past.
How I Change The Final Boss Fight With Devil Doom Is Basically Doom Taking Shadow Through Multiple Stages Not Just Radical Highway ~ Doom Surf: Flame Core ~ Doom Morph: The Last Way ~ And Finally Doom Wings: Devil Doom Transforms Into Neo Devil Doom As He Takes Off Into Space With The Black Comet As Shadow Follows With Doom Wings As They Clash Around The Space Colony Ark Flying Around As Doom Says. Neo Devil Doom: You Were Born Here Shadow & Now You Shall Die Here Shadow: No Today This Ends Forever, Here I Finally Put This Chapter Of My Life To Rest! ~ Neo Devil Doom Uses The Comet As A Weapon And He Is Winning. ~ When Doom The Tries To Fully Take Control Of Shadow When He Is Weaken, Have Maria, Professor, Rouge And Omega Cheer For Him. ~ Shadow Regain His Power And Pushes Back Doom Control As Now He Takes His Inhibotor Rings Off As Now We Can Get What I Call "Chaos Doom Shadow" As Gold Aura Envelops Him And Even His Wings Goes Gold And Red Along With His Other Doom Powers Gain the New Change. ~ With It Shadows Destroys Neo Devil Doom And FInally Is Able To Say Goodbye To Maria With A Smile And A New Found Peace In Mind.
Personal pick for 05 would be Lost Impact, a level more focused on a bit slower past exploration and dialog, with Maria Tagging along for some more emotional character moments between them.
Remove Black Knight and replace it with the Rivals duology. Death Yard Zone is one of my favorite locations in the series (industrial wasteland full of lava and trash, it's a unique vibe) and could represent Rivals perfectly, as for Rivals 2 both Blue Coast and Frontier Canyon could work wonderfully. Frontier Canyon has a similar color and feel to Rail Canyon/Bullet Station with its Western inspiration so I'd probably go Blue Coast, just to provide something more identifiable.
To be quite frank, I'm surprised the game has stages from Forces and Frontiers but not Lost World I know Shadow wasn't in that game, but he wasn't in Frontiers either, which makes Chaos Island's inclusion all the more surprising to me If I were to guess, Chaos Island was added so SEGA can reuse assets for at least one of their stages Edit: I know we didn't have any stages from Shadow 05 either but the Black Arms appear throughout the stages anyway. Plus, as Mondo said, you could argue that Space Colony Ark represents Shadow 05, as it's not explicitly called Final Rush
Frontiers was included to imply that shadow will go to chaos island kinda like how he went to sunset heights (shadow gens takes place when sonic gens does)
@@mondopatrick I like to think either the Eggmen or Black Doom travelled to the future to bring Sunset Heights and Chaos Island to the White Space. If we have Crisis City and if Metal Sonic's boss takes place in Stardust Speedway in the Bad Future, who's to say we can't have stages from Sonic games after Generations?
@@thekeybladeninjaturtle7380 Yeah thats the point of time eater is that he collides past AND future, for example for Classic Sonic Green Hill would be the past, Sky Sanctuary would be the present and City Escape would be the future
This was a good video but I honestly have two problems with it 1. Shadow And Lancelot are NOT The same Characters as the Story Books are separate Worlds, so a stage from black knight would make no sense whatsoever because shadow would NOT Even know of it being a Location. 2. You Cant Just Pick White Jungle for SA2 And Then Go With Mystic Jungle For Forces, They Have Overlapping Themes. Other than that this was a Fun Watch, Good Job! 👍
I was kinda forced to pick Mystic Jungle since its the ONLY other original zone shadows been too in forces, i wouldve loved to pick Imperial Tower instead, and as for lancelot i fw the concept of shadow just being sir lancelot for the hell of black knight having a slot and thank you! im glad you enjoyed
@@mondopatrickLike You Said About Ares Island, It doesn’t Exactly Matter as this is your own Personal Wishlist So yea. Besides It could be possible that Shadow Could Go There Someday.
Yeah logic isnt really a big part of this just more or less a blueprint, making this video was weird cause i genuinely think sega did a perfect job at picking the stages this time around but i still am big into “what if” scenarios so i just had to do it again, and you’re not wrong shadow totally could visit ares island
Consider how there was a Frontiers stages, I was hoping that they would have a Mania stage to represent all the main games that came out after Generations, though I would say Press Garden would be the best pick because of how chill it is.
7:43 this is actually a big underlooked point as to why radical highway was used, shadow starts out promising revenge to maria as he shoots down the first rail in radical highway in sa2. In sxsg he ends on radical highway after promising to maria to not let his anger consume him anymore. A shadow05 level wouldve been awesome though, maybe westopolis as the final boss arena?
If they bring back infinite, the problem would be his backstory with how out of character shadow was here (assuming that he actually did kill infinite’s squad).
To me i feel like they should add a stage for unleashed and lost world cuz of frontier anyway for unleashed i would jungle joyride or dragon road and for lost world sea bottom segway or death mountain ik westopolis is a good pick for shad05 but i feel like the last way, or final hunt will be a good pick for a fi sl stage
Homestly the lack of Westoplis is so baffling to me. Like its such an obvious pick but it was no where to be seen. They fumbled that full circle thing hard imo
Not that i am against it but why? Zavok has never interacted with Shadow and has no narrative connection. Infinite have direct rivalry with Shadow and Shadow unintentionally created him. Or even Sage to tie in Gerald's unusally created edgey kid and and Eggman's unusually created edgey kid.
Eh... If I were to choose a stage from Lost World to get representation, it'd be Silent Forest. It's the most unique zone out of the 7 main ones, it's the prettiest, Zone 1 sounds like a Rouge level, and I think they could double down on the gimmicks the levels have. However... then, a problem would be the bosses. While I do think that seeing Shadow absolutely laugh his ass off at seeing Zor try to be threatening would be really funny, I know that would be an awful choice for most people as Infinite would've been robbed of a boss fight. I'd take either honestly 😭😭
SA2: Sky Rail Heroes: Grand Metropolis Shadow: Digital Circuit & Westopolis 06: Aquatic Base or White Acropolis Forces: Mystic Jungle Frontiers: Ares Island
personally, i really like the stages we got, but i'd love more, and i thought i'd drop my ideas for stages here the game would start with ark act 1, but you would transition to white space at a different stage gate - specifically Hidden Palace from Sonic 3, and that'd be your first proper stage - its appearance based off of the fact that Shadow was likely based off of the mural of the Final Weapon and Super Sonic. The next stage would be Sky Deck or Lost World - cause Chaos Island shows that the stages aren't just Shadow's experiences, but Sonic's too - due to how White Space functions. I'm also pretty biased and want to see another reworked SA1 stage 😭 This is less stage related - but I think a boss fight with E-101 Beta Mk. II would be awesome before you return to the Ark, and would work pretty well with the theming of all the bosses since there are a lot of stuff in common between the E-Series(particularly Gamma) and Shadow. Also - for a Shadow 05 stage - SKY TROOPS, its probably the most unique of the Shadow 05 stages in my opinion, and has importance to shadow's character and his connection to Black Doom - and is less generic than Sky Troops and imo more fitting than any of the Black Comet stages. I'm not sure what other people think about Shadow going to Hidden Palace and Sky Deck or Lost World, but personally I don't want to step on the toes of stages I honestly really like. Also for context - I kinda designed the idea around a second Ark stage based more around Final Rush that you'd get to after beating Beta Mk. II, and the first act would have more stuff based off of Final Chase, adding the spinning barrels(and maybe reworking how they function and feel a lil)
1) Space Colony Arc (Radical Highway Warp) 2) Bullet Station (Sky Rail Warp) Boss) Bio-Lizard 3) Digital Circuit (White Acropolis Warp) 4) Sunset Heights (White Jungle Warp) Boss Fight) Infinite 5a) Egg Fleet (Sky Troops Warp) 5b) Final Fortress Act 2 = 3D (No Warp) Boss Fight) Metal Overlord 6) Kingdom Valley (No Warp) 7) Chaos Island (No Warp) Boss Fight) Mephiles 8a) Westopolis Act 1 8b) Radical Highway Act 2 9) Final Haunt Act 1 Only Boss Fight) Doom That's how I feel it should have been if they were adamant about Chaos Island and Sunset Heights being in the game Gives 9 Levels just like Sonic Generations I would have taken No 2D levels and just had 3D Stages to get more 3D Stages because of how great they were I think the Warps were a missed opportunity - Instead of all being Radical Highway could you imagine how amazing it would be if they went to different levels for a brief period
My personal level order would go like this: Space Colony Ark Rail Canyon Digital Circuit Kingdom Valley White Acropolis White Jungle Sky Troops Chaos Island Egg Fleet Lava Shelter Radical Highway
Stages from unleashed and lost world would’ve been worth it. Holoska and lava mountain to be specific. The bosses would be the dark phoenix and Zavok (Zazz or Zik would also work to)
Rail Canyon was great but i would have prefer Egg Fleet. White Jungle is great but the 2 levels we got are far more narratively important. Flame fits Shadow better and looks more like the Sonic IP than Kingdom Valley
Here's my renewed version of my Definitive Sonic X Shadow Generations Stages, with every third act as a Boss Act at a Different Zone: Sonic Gens: Green Hill - (Labyrinth for Act 3) Chemical Plant - (Mystic Cave/Hidden Palace for Act 3) Carnival Night - (Sky Sanctuary for Act 3) Stardust Speedway - (Metallic Madness for Act 3) Gigalopolis - (Sunset Park for Act 3) Rusty Ruins - (Volcano Valley for Act 3) Ice Cap (SA-1) - (Station Square for Act 3) City Escape - (Space Colony ARK for Act 3) Grand Metropolis - (Hang Castle for Act 3) Route 99 - (Death Egg for Act 3) Water Palace - (Dead Line for Act 3) Haunted Ship - (Pirate's Island for Act 3) Kingdom Valley - (Crisis City for Act 3) Dragon Road - (Eggmanland for Act 3) Planet Wisp - (Terminal Velocity for Act 3) Clockwerk Catastrophe Shadow Gens: Space Colony ARK - (Cannon's Core for Act 3) Rail Canyon - (Final Fortress for Act 3) Dusty Desert - (Flame Core for Act 3) Jungle Joyride - (Cool Edge for Act 3) Asteroid Coaster - (Lost Hex for Act 3) Sunset Heights - (Arsenal Pyramid for Act 3) Chaos Island - (Ouranos Island for Act 3) Westopolis - (Black Comet for Act 3) Any Thoughts? =3
@mondopatrick Ikr, I had to add a "certain buff red Zeti" as one of Shadow's bosses. And I've seen and read a rewrite on DeviantArt where Sonic Colors & Sonic Lost World are Rewritten as one game/story. And it just came to me that I think the Zeti are the "Natural Predators" of the Wisps. But due to their magic, they siphon the Wisps' Hyper-Go-On Energy instead of eating them.
Before you read, this is an extremely long comment, apologies ahead of time. I absolutely adored Shadow Generations, it’s easily my favourite Sonic game of all time, but I will agree, the stage selection is strange. It’s really odd that Chaos Island is in the game despite the fact that Shadow wasn’t in Sonic Frontiers, and there’s no stage from Shadow The Hedgehog despite the fact Black Doom is the main villain. I can understand why both Space Colony Ark and Radical Highway are in the game, but I’d have honestly much rather have preferred a stage like Westopolis or Black Comet take the place of Radical Highway. As for Chaos Island, it’s a weird stage to replace because I understand why it was there, they wanted some representation from the most recent game, but why put it in Shadow Generations when it could’ve been a better fit for the extra content in Sonic Generations instead of the Chao? I get why, because it would’ve meant more development time, but they could’ve easily saved it as DLC and added stages from other games that were missing. I’d have honestly much rather had Asteroid Coaster from Sonic Colours than Chaos Island, even if Shadow was never playable in it, he appeared there in Sonic Colours DS, which is confirmed to be the canon version of the game because the Mother Wisp appears in Team Sonic Racing, although I’d be completely fine without it, a stage from both of the Rivals games could’ve made sense too. Also, I’d have liked to have seen the G.U.N. Commander, Emerl and Infinite at some point during the story, although Emerl could’ve been missed considering he was in Dark Beginnings. So, with all that out of the way, here’s how I would’ve handled the stages and bosses in Shadow Generations: Stage 1 - Space Colony Ark (Sonic Adventure 2) Makes enough sense as the starting stage, it’s from Shadow’s debut game and it’s the most pivotal stage to his story in that game. I’ll cut out the 2D in Act 2 and make it purely 3D for pretty much every stage, but there will be a few exceptions later. Doom’s Eye would still appear, but I would remove the stage transition into Radical Highway, I’ll explain that later. Stage 2 - Rail Canyon (Sonic Heroes) Heroes is the second game Shadow’s ever playable in and it’s the most important stage to his story in that game. Shadow doesn’t believe he’s the true Ultimate Life Form and his doubts are furthered by the appearance of the Shadow Android, which would reappear here as a means for Black Doom to meddle with Shadow’s head. After completing the stage, Shadow would regroup with both Rouge and Omega in White Space. Boss - Biolizard (Sonic Adventure 2) The Biolizard is the failed Ultimate Life Form created before Shadow that was used as a failsafe on the Ark, it was the fight that got Shadow to help stop the Ark from colliding with the Earth. It makes sense that it would be the first boss fight. Stage 3 - Kingdom Valley (Sonic The Hedgehog) Kingdom Valley is the stage where Shadow accidentally unleashes Mephiles, and I’ll play into that by having him pick up the Sceptre of Darkness without knowing what it is, as he doesn’t remember it. Stage 4 - Sky Park (Sonic Rivals) This is where the 2D stages come in, both this and the next stage will be fully 2D for both acts, just like the Sonic Rivals games. After this stage will also be the Sonic encounter happens, still just a cutscene, but it makes sense to just be a cutscene when there’s already a predetermined outcome. Boss - Metal Overlord (Sonic Heroes) Shadow does fight Metal Madness in Sonic Heroes, but the idea is mostly around Metal Overlord claiming he is the Ultimate Lifeform. Shadow defeating Metal Overlord will clear the doubts in his mind. Stage 5 - Blue Coast (Sonic Rivals 2) It’s a bit of a looser connection, but this is the first stage in Rivals 2, the place where Shadow teams up with Metal Sonic, which is a very loose connection to the previous boss fight, but Rivals 2 is also the game where Shadow finds out about Gerald’s research on Ifrit, and whilst that happens in Frontier Canyon, I think it’s too similar in terms of stage theming to Rail Canyon, they look quite similar. With the tie in to Gerald Robotnik as well, after this would be the when Shadow regroups with Maria and Gerald after saving them from the Black Arms. Stage 6 - Sunset Heights (Sonic Forces) It’s one of only two unique stages from Forces that Shadow goes through in his DLC, so it wasn’t a hard choice. Considering the weird split between 3D and 2D with Forces, there’d be elements of both in this stage to keep it authentic, but with actual good level design. I’d have Shadow be confused, as although he had a slight Deja Vu moment with Kingdom Valley, he doesn’t with Sunset Heights because he’s never been there before, it’s in his future. This is also the stage I’d do a transition, having Infinite appear behind Shadow, Shadow not seeing Infinite, but experiencing Infinite warping reality as he throws Shadow into Mystic Jungle, which is where the Doom Morph would be used for the first time, and it will be used in a stage again too. Both the Death Egg Sentinels and the Giant Snake will serve as set pieces in the stage. Boss - Mephiles (Sonic The Hedgehog) Shadow’s Sceptre Of Darkness will open, unleashing Mephiles, making Shadow defeat his own shadow, metaphorically defeating his own demons by sealing away Mephiles. Shadow will not understand why Mephiles keeps referring to them meeting, but he still defeats Mephiles anyway, understanding that he’s evil. After this, the Black Comet will fly overhead, unleashing hordes of the Black Arms, Shadow asks Rouge and Omega to deal with them whilst he deals with Black Doom. The Black Comet will replace the Black Moon essentially. Stage 7 - Black Comet (Shadow The Hedgehog) This will take elements from all 3 Black Comet stages in Shadow The Hedgehog, it also makes sense as the final stage due to it being Shadow fighting the Black Arms again and truly putting his past behind him. Boss - Devil Doom (Shadow The Hedgehog) The ending will stay the same, as the ending is fantastic, so will every other element of the story and game I haven’t discussed.
Personally, forces and frontiers levels were the most lackluster levels for me. They shouldve been replaced with prison island from shadow05, using the doom morph to go through the sludge wouldve been fun, and westopolis for obvious reasons. Radical highway can stay tho
While I doubt this will happen, I would love a dlc pack for 30$ that adds 5 more stages. Colors, Black Knight, and Shadow the Hedgehog getting rep are obvious, but I would also pick Advance 3 and Unleashed for rep. Why? Well, both those stories had Eggman effecting the whole world, and yet Shadow did nothing. So it would be nice to see where he was and what he thought about the situations. For Advance 3, I would pick Toy Kingdom, not only for the creativity but also because it is basically the opposite of a "shadow level" And for Unleashed, I would pick Dragon Road. There is no real reason for this one other than I like it, and sadly, there is no level based on Mexico for the memes. I would also like to give a shout-out to Rush Adventure while I limited myself to 5 (using 3 of yours), pirate island, coral cave, and haunted ship would all be cool stages and marine being the npc would allow them to reference that one Shadow meme
For the lancelot stage have it be similar to the movie dlc stage, where due to it being a different dimension, Shadow ends up in it due to the ring portals and he ends up in Lancelot's body like he did with movie shadow I say instead of the Merlin boss fight, give him a sword fight with the black knight verison of sonic
Honestly, My personal picks are as follows: Keep the Ark, it's iconic and down right my fav location in the franchise. Replace Rail Canyon with Egg Fleet, because it feels like that's where Shadow decided it didn't matter if he was an android or not. Kingdom Valley is def a tight pick. For sure the most polished from 06. But personally I think either Aquatic base would've been fun, if only to get the silver and shadow interaction. Sunset heights is honestly the best we're gonna get with forces I would've left out frontiers entirely and instead gone with something from either Black Knight or even like Sky rail from SA2 And lastly, instead of Radical highway- Westopolis is the obvious pick, HOWEVER Allow me to propose; The Doom from Shadow 05, ripping through the black comet that black Doom reconstructed only to fight him in the ruins of the comet in a destroyed Westopolis
Yeah something i now wish i thought of for this video was having Westopolis being Act 1 of the final zone and act 2 being westopolis for like first 10 seconds until shadow tares his way into the Doom Comet
Or make act 1 of Black Comet the beginning part of westopolis and then have shadow fly to Black Comet when he gets the Doom Wings, and then the rest is Black Comet along with Act 2
@mondopatrick according to IDW, City Escape takes place in Westopolis and since City Escape and Radical Highway take place in the same area, so yes. Though SA2 calls the place Central City (which is also a location you go through in Shadow the Hedgehog by the way), IDW is more recent so I'd say that's more relevant.
my personal choices for stage and boss fights sa2: white jungle heroes: hang castle or egg fleet shadow 05: sky troops 06: aquatic base unleashed: windmill isle black knight: shrouded forest or deep woods colours: aquarium park forces: sunset heights frontiers: kronos, ares and chaos island. the level is split into like sections where you take a dash ramp and it takes you to the next island making the level quite long and challenging
Though they are canon (rivals is silvers first canonical appearance) i dont see it as a mainline sonic game at all, even the storybook games have an argument for mainline subplot
Oh i didnt forget i just had absolutely NO reason to include it, at least for lost world you could argue Zavok and Shadow have a cool dynamic like in IDW
I respect the asset dump cause it means more content in what was supposed to be a Mini-Experience shorter than sonic gens, and asset dump or not it would make sense if shadow visited there since he also visted sunset heights after shadow gens
They definitely would but i feel like infinite would just get bashed for existing since hes already known as a fraud who needed the phantom ruby to be useful, him being in shadow gens would at least make people think “damn hes not as bad as i thought”
Westopolis is such a boring stage though. Like nothing happens there. It doesn't have any big features. At least Radical Highway has those crazy bridges that you get to grind on.
Since we technically have a rendition of westopolis thanks to the movie dlc I'd have only 2 new levels compared to the original game with a new layout for the eras Past era: Space Colony Ark Rail Canyon Sonic rival Boss Biolizard boss Present era: Kingdom Valley Asteroid Coaster Silver rival Boss Metal overlord boss Future era: Sunset Heights Chaos Island Infinite Rival Boss Mephiles boss Doom era: Radical Highway Black Comet Black Doom boss
No shadow 05 level or infinite boss fight in the game is a crime. Also for levels already in the game I like all the picks but I really wish they did final fortress for heroes it’s such a cool looking level and would’ve looked even better with the visuals for this game.
The problem with Infinite that it would break canon & Infinite was strongest character during Forces.
Hold up, what if it starts as westopolis but then forms into Black Comet for act 2
@mondopatrick that'd be a good idea. Tbh, the assets used for Radical Highway barely even look like Radical Highway without some of the iconic level design. You could easily repurpose it to look like Westopolis.
Given how the actual Radical Highway zone is used, absolutely. All that ominous setting...and it's Radical Highway.
You have no idea how much i love this concept, saves radical highway for me tbh
Actually not a theory, this was confirmed in the Sonic X Shadow Takeover as someone asked why did Doom sent Shadow a ton to Radical Highway and Shadow stated that Doom used the stage basically as a reminder of the time he was at his lowest to torment Shadow.
@@mondopatrickand when he goes to radical highway for the final levels he goes back there with Maria’s true wish in his mind
@askew7674 well it was shadow saying it, not black doom, he just thinks radical highway is just so cool
Storybook games are canon: Sonic even references Shara/Erazor when he meets Tails in the white space.
Here’s my problem with westopolis to be the level that represents shadow 05 if it was in shadow generations
THERE ARE TOO MANY CITY LEVELS IN SONIC AND SHADOW GENERATIONS COMBINED THERE ARE SEVEN CITY LEVELS IN BOTH OF THE GAMES COMBINED
SPEED HIGHWAY CITY ESCAPE CRISIS CITY ROOFTOP RUN SUNSET HEIGHTS RADICAL HIGHWAY AND THE NEWLY ADDED TOKYO
Yeah true, thats a point i even brought up in my Sonic Gens Level video but like westopolis is cool so we just excuse it
@@mondopatrick OK Fairpoint everybody has their own opinion on what level they would like to see in the game
@@mondopatrick Cause we totally need to go back to that stage for an 11th time.
City themed Sonic levels are the best🙉
Sonic forces speed battle did something interesting:
"Golden bay zone" is based on sonic 1 movie... But one look at it and you can immediately tell it's just city escape.
With this in mind, "Tokyo" is Westopolis....
Tho in music only...
I didn't realize Shadow was in Sonic Colors. Awesome video
In Sonic Colors DS, he and Omega were in a bonus mission for Asteroid Coaster. Sonic Colors DS and Wii are both 2 halves of a whole story
Which is why im really sad Colors Ultimate didnt Remaster the DS portion and replace the extra bad levels from wii with the ds ones
DLC Movie Tokyo Stage is a Westopolis remix, if that counts for anything.
counts for something but it isnt as full scale or story inclusive as it couldve been as a real stage
@@mondopatrick I appreciate we got *longer* stages for Shadow Generations since we have less stages. But I wish we got more! Radical Highway was defo a challenge at first to get a fast time.
Yeah Act 2 no doom wings was tough at first
they copped out by giving us that banger remix, still disappointed that there's no shadow 05 levels though
If they put a shadow 05, black knight, and boom level then all of my dreams would come true 😭😭
They picked chaos island so they could reuse assets not to imply shadow will visit it
Imagine in the forces level it’s black doom(so you think at first)but it’s actually an infinite illusion who glitches slightly revealing its infinite, that way it keeps canon and shadow doesn’t recognize infinite later on
Lost World still gets no love even in this video 😭
Hear me out, have you played Sonic Forces Overclocked? I'm specifically thinking of the final boss. Spoilers if not
It would have been wild but so cool if the final level started in a short segment of Westopolis with multiple paths, and each lead to different doom portals that take you to short segments of different levels in Shadow 05.
Assuming if we had some stages in the middle portion to represent Shadow The Hedgehog 2005 i'd have to go with Digital Circut for sure.
if weatopolis was in the game id replace it in this video with Digital Circus as well, that or sky troop
Bro cooked with that Sonic colors stage 🔥
True but in this scenario radical highway would not be in the game and westopolis would be the sole city level
as for space colony ARK in reality if we get into it its neither Final Chase or ARK from shadow 05 because shadow was not brought back to the past to visit it but rather visited it in present day, so its really up for interpretation
@@Hewasnumber1 good someone else pointed out that westopolis is a poor choice and that there are better level to pick out from shadow 05
also I wrote this in my comment but there are way too many city levels in sonic and shadow generations combined
and to keep it brief there are seven city levels total in both sonic and shadow generations combined
and if westopolis was in shadow generations that would total up to half of shadow generations and the city levels already take up half of sonic generations and if there was a level from shadow 05 in shadow generations I would pick black comet in my opinion that is the best level choice westopolis is just a terrible choice all around and radical Highway already gets too much representation in the game in my opinion and radical highway Should not have been the final level in shadow generations either

7:13 Nah one of the Black Comet levels would make sense
I would've loved Aquatic Base for the 06 level.
Or White Acropolis too
Personal pick for 05 would be Lost Impact, a level more focused on a bit slower past exploration and dialog, with Maria Tagging along for some more emotional character moments between them.
To be quite frank, I'm surprised the game has stages from Forces and Frontiers but not Lost World
I know Shadow wasn't in that game, but he wasn't in Frontiers either, which makes Chaos Island's inclusion all the more surprising to me
If I were to guess, Chaos Island was added so SEGA can reuse assets for at least one of their stages
Edit: I know we didn't have any stages from Shadow 05 either but the Black Arms appear throughout the stages anyway.
I completely agree
This was a good video but I honestly have two problems with it
I was kinda forced to pick Mystic Jungle since its the ONLY other original zone shadows been too in forces, i wouldve loved to pick Imperial Tower instead, and as for lancelot i fw the concept of shadow just being sir lancelot for the hell of black knight having a slot
and thank you! im glad you enjoyed
Here me out: Titanic Monarch
I could see shadow going there
Consider how there was a Frontiers stages, I was hoping that they would have a Mania stage to represent all the main games that came out after Generations, though I would say Press Garden would be the best pick because of how chill it is.
No Sky Troops or Lava Shelter or Cosmic Fall is criminal
Sky troops and digital circuit were my original picks but then i remembered how much i love westopolis
Funny thing is, the remix in SCA is actually of Final Rush, not Final Chase, so technically it isn't even Final Chase
Yeah see
Say you havent finished the video without saying you havent finished the video. Yes i am like that and I hate it
Homestly the lack of Westoplis is so baffling to me. Like its such an obvious pick but it was no where to be seen. They fumbled that full circle thing hard imo
We needed a Zavok boss fight.
Glad im not the only one who thought Shadow and Zavoc would have a cool interaction
@@peteypiranalover Yeah, either Sage or Infinite are automatically much better choices than Zavok.
no we DIDNT 😭🙏
SA2: Sky Rail
Heroes: Grand Metropolis
Shadow: Digital Circuit & Westopolis
06: Aquatic Base or White Acropolis
Forces: Mystic Jungle
Frontiers: Ares Island
personally, i really like the stages we got, but i'd love more, and i thought i'd drop my ideas for stages here
the game would start with ark act 1, but you would transition to white space at a different stage gate - specifically Hidden Palace from Sonic 3, and that'd be your first proper stage - its appearance based off of the fact that Shadow was likely based off of the mural of the Final Weapon and Super Sonic.
The next stage would be Sky Deck or Lost World - cause Chaos Island shows that the stages aren't just Shadow's experiences, but Sonic's too - due to how White Space functions. I'm also pretty biased and want to see another reworked SA1 stage 😭
This is less stage related - but I think a boss fight with E-101 Beta Mk.
1) Space Colony Arc (Radical Highway Warp)
2) Bullet Station (Sky Rail Warp)
Boss) Bio-Lizard
3) Digital Circuit (White Acropolis Warp)
4) Sunset Heights (White Jungle Warp)
Boss Fight) Infinite
5a) Egg Fleet (Sky Troops Warp)
5b) Final Fortress Act 2 = 3D (No Warp)
Boss Fight) Metal Overlord
6) Kingdom Valley (No Warp)
7) Chaos Island (No Warp)
Boss Fight) Mephiles
8a) Westopolis Act 1
8b) Radical Highway Act 2
9) Final Haunt Act 1 Only
Boss Fight) Doom
That's how I feel it should have been if they were adamant about Chaos Island and Sunset Heights being in the game
Gives 9 Levels just like Sonic Generations
I would have taken No 2D levels and just had 3D Stages to get more 3D Stages because of how great they were
I think the Warps were a missed opportunity - Instead of all being Radical Highway could you imagine how amazing it would be if they went to different levels for a brief period
I hope this game gets more dlc stages after the tokyo dlc.
Westopolis was a pretty big omission, especially when Radical Highways in half the other missions anyway, did it really also need it's own stage?
My personal level order would go like this:
Space Colony Ark
Rail Canyon
Digital Circuit
Kingdom Valley
White Acropolis
White Jungle
Sky Troops
Chaos Island
Egg Fleet
Lava Shelter
Radical Highway
Stages from unleashed and lost world would’ve been worth it. Holoska and lava mountain to be specific. The bosses would be the dark phoenix and Zavok (Zazz or Zik would also work to)
Rail Canyon was great but i would have prefer Egg Fleet.
White Jungle is great but the 2 levels we got are far more narratively important.
Flame fits Shadow better and looks more like the Sonic IP than Kingdom Valley
I get that last bit, but we already got crisis city for a fire type level and Kingdom valley is also a pretty big moment for Shadow’s story in 06.
Here's my renewed version of my Definitive Sonic X Shadow Generations Stages, with every third act as a Boss Act at a Different Zone:
Sonic Gens:
Green Hill - (Labyrinth for Act 3)
Chemical Plant - (Mystic Cave/Hidden Palace for Act 3)
Carnival Night - (Sky Sanctuary for Act 3)
Stardust Speedway - (Metallic Madness for Act 3)
Gigalopolis - (Sunset Park for Act 3)
Rusty Ruins - (Volcano Valley for Act 3)
Ice Cap (SA-1) - (Station Square for Act 3)
City Escape - (Space Colony ARK for Act 3)
Grand Metropolis - (Hang Castle for Act 3)
Route 99 - (Death Egg for Act 3)
Water Palace - (Dead Line for Act 3)
Haunted Ship - (Pirate's Island for Act 3)
Kingdom Valley - (Crisis City for Act 3)
Dragon Road - (Eggmanland for Act 3)
Planet Wisp - (Terminal Velocity for Act 3)
Clockwerk Catastrophe
Shadow Gens:
Space Colony ARK - (Cannon's Core for Act 3)
Rail Canyon - (Final Fortress for Act 3)
Dusty Desert - (Flame Core for Act 3)
Jungle Joyride - (Cool Edge for Act 3)
Asteroid Coaster - (Lost Hex for Act 3)
Sunset Heights - (Arsenal Pyramid for Act 3)
Chaos Island - (Ouranos Island for Act 3)
Westopolis - (Black Comet for Act 3)
Any Thoughts? =3
I like how you combined colours and lost world since lost world is basically colours 2
I wish we had more levels, but I understand why they arent here.
So, with all that out of the way, here’s how I would’ve handled the stages and bosses in Shadow Generations:
Stage 1 - Space Colony Ark (Sonic Adventure 2)
Makes enough sense as the starting stage, it’s from Shadow’s debut game and it’s the most pivotal stage to his story in that game. I’ll cut out the 2D in Act 2 and make it purely 3D for pretty much every stage, but there will be a few exceptions later. Doom’s Eye would still appear, but I would remove the stage transition into Radical Highway, I’ll explain that later.
Stage 2 - Rail Canyon (Sonic Heroes)
Heroes is the second game Shadow’s ever playable in and it’s the most important stage to his story in that game.
Boss - Biolizard (Sonic Adventure 2)
The Biolizard is the failed Ultimate Life Form created before Shadow that was used as a failsafe on the Ark, it was the fight that got Shadow to help stop the Ark from colliding with the Earth. It makes sense that it would be the first boss fight.
Stage 3 - Kingdom Valley (Sonic The Hedgehog)
Kingdom Valley is the stage where Shadow accidentally unleashes Mephiles, and I’ll play into that by having him pick up the Sceptre of Darkness without knowing what it is, as he doesn’t remember it.
Stage 4 - Sky Park (Sonic Rivals)
This is where the 2D stages come in, both this and the next stage will be fully 2D for both acts, just like the Sonic Rivals games. After this stage will also be the Sonic encounter happens, still just a cutscene, but it makes sense to just be a cutscene when there’s already a predetermined outcome.
Boss - Metal Overlord (Sonic Heroes)
Shadow does fight Metal Madness in Sonic Heroes, but the idea is mostly around Metal Overlord claiming he is the Ultimate Lifeform. Shadow defeating Metal Overlord will clear the doubts in his mind.
Stage 5 - Blue Coast (Sonic Rivals 2)
It’s a bit of a looser connection, but this is the first stage in Rivals 2, the place where Shadow teams up with Metal Sonic, which is a very loose connection to the previous boss fight, but Rivals 2 is also the game where Shadow finds out about Gerald’s research on Ifrit, and whilst that happens in Frontier Canyon, I think it’s too similar in terms of stage theming to Rail Canyon, they look quite similar. With the tie in to Gerald Robotnik as well, after this would be the when Shadow regroups with Maria and Gerald after saving them from the Black Arms.
Stage 6 - Sunset Heights (Sonic Forces)
It’s one of only two unique stages from Forces that Shadow goes through in his DLC, so it wasn’t a hard choice.
Boss - Mephiles (Sonic The Hedgehog)
Shadow’s Sceptre Of Darkness will open, unleashing Mephiles, making Shadow defeat his own shadow, metaphorically defeating his own demons by sealing away Mephiles.
Stage 7 - Black Comet (Shadow The Hedgehog)
This will take elements from all 3 Black Comet stages in Shadow The Hedgehog, it also makes sense as the final stage due to it being Shadow fighting the Black Arms again and truly putting his past behind him.
Boss - Devil Doom (Shadow The Hedgehog)
The ending will stay the same, as the ending is fantastic, so will every other element of the story and game I haven’t discussed.
Personally, forces and frontiers levels were the most lackluster levels for me. They shouldve been replaced with prison island from shadow05, using the doom morph to go through the sludge wouldve been fun, and westopolis for obvious reasons. Radical highway can stay tho
Mystic Mansion
Final Haunt
While I doubt this will happen, I would love a dlc pack for 30$ that adds 5 more stages.
Colors, Black Knight, and Shadow the Hedgehog getting rep are obvious, but I would also pick Advance 3 and Unleashed for rep. Why? Well, both those stories had Eggman effecting the whole world, and yet Shadow did nothing. So it would be nice to see where he was and what he thought about the situations.
For Advance 3, I would pick Toy Kingdom, not only for the creativity but also because it is basically the opposite of a "shadow level"
And for Unleashed, I would pick Dragon Road.
Meanwhile still waiting for a sonic X shadows unleashed and frontiers remastered remake games
For the lancelot stage have it be similar to the movie dlc stage, where due to it being a different dimension, Shadow ends up in it due to the ring portals and he ends up in Lancelot's body like he did with movie shadow
I say instead of the Merlin boss fight, give him a sword fight with the black knight verison of sonic
Honestly, My personal picks are as follows:
Keep the Ark, it's iconic and down right my fav location in the franchise.
Sunset heights is honestly the best we're gonna get with forces
I would've left out frontiers entirely and instead gone with something from either Black Knight or even like Sky rail from SA2
And lastly, instead of Radical highway- Westopolis is the obvious pick, HOWEVER Allow me to propose; The Doom from Shadow 05, ripping through the black comet that black Doom reconstructed only to fight him in the ruins of the comet in a destroyed Westopolis
Yeah something i now wish i thought of for this video was having Westopolis being Act 1 of the final zone and act 2 being westopolis for like first 10 seconds until shadow tares his way into the Doom Comet
@mondopatrick That would've been sick as hell
Have Westopolis be the intermissions seen in the original game, but have the final stage itself be Black Comet.
Two birds with one stone.
Or make act 1 of Black Comet the beginning part of westopolis and then have shadow fly to Black Comet when he gets the Doom Wings, and then the rest is Black Comet along with Act 2
I mean Westopolis is in Shadow Gens twice considering Radical Highway is in Westopolis and Tokyo uses Westopolis's music
Wait is radical highway actually in westopolis? i always believed that as a kid until i just thought they were 2 different places
@mondopatrick according to IDW, City Escape takes place in Westopolis and since City Escape and Radical Highway take place in the same area, so yes.
Though SA2 calls the place Central City (which is also a location you go through in Shadow the Hedgehog by the way), IDW is more recent so I'd say that's more relevant.
my personal choices for stage and boss fights
sa2: white jungle
heroes: hang castle or egg fleet
shadow 05: sky troops
06: aquatic base
unleashed: windmill isle
black knight: shrouded forest or deep woods
colours: aquarium park
forces: sunset heights
frontiers: kronos, ares and chaos island. the level is split into like sections where you take a dash ramp and it takes you to the next island making the level quite long and challenging
Yeah as much as i love chaos island i feel like its very short compared to all the other levels
@@mondopatrick yeah that’s why i combined all 3 into one big stage.
I’m surprised you didn’t include anything from the rival games.
Though they are canon (rivals is silvers first canonical appearance) i dont see it as a mainline sonic game at all, even the storybook games have an argument for mainline subplot
it’s such a flop that not one single level from Shadow’s own game made it into Shadow Generations
8:31 as if he didn't forget about sonic unleashed
Oh i didnt forget i just had absolutely NO reason to include it, at least for lost world you could argue Zavok and Shadow have a cool dynamic like in IDW
Who the hell calls it Shadow 05? Is there another game called Shadow The Hedgehog I don’t know about?
the same reason why people call Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic 1
Wished for final fortress or westopolis oh well
egg fleet
Did westopolis give you Stockholm syndrome?
5:50 no bro they're just reusing assets to make a level
I respect the asset dump cause it means more content in what was supposed to be a Mini-Experience shorter than sonic gens, and asset dump or not it would make sense if shadow visited there since he also visted sunset heights after shadow gens
I think if infinite was in gens and shadow beated him here it would’ve made infinite look worse
I mean how worse can you get though at least he would be in a good video game
@@mondopatrick that may be but I’m talking story wise if gens shadow defeated forces infinite then people would bash on infinite harder
Westopolis has flying aliens space ships explosions and lasers and a bunch of angry cops, radical highway is just a highway with a couple robot cars
Since we technically have a rendition of westopolis thanks to the movie dlc I'd have only 2 new levels compared to the original game with a new layout for the eras
Past era:
Space Colony Ark
Rail Canyon
Sonic rival Boss
Biolizard boss
Present era:
Kingdom Valley
Asteroid Coaster
Silver rival Boss
Metal overlord boss
Future era:
Sunset Heights
Chaos Island
Infinite Rival Boss
Mephiles boss
Doom era:
Radical Highway
Black Comet
Black Doom boss
First 🤓
yeah your fired
