He is also a microbiologist and chemist, and came up with the idea of the vampire and werewolf infection to be a virus instead of being supernatural in nature.
@@thebeast9606That's what I said. I think unlike Lycan dominant hybrids, I think maybe Vampire dominant hybrids still have the ability to talk while in their hybrid form.
@@GabrielMicheal77710 yeah you're right I've never seen a werewolf speak when transform or the hybrids that are dominant wolves vampire hybrids. I think it's because werewolves or Lycan'sas they put it, are more savage in nature so they lose the capability to speak but can still think and strategize. Maybe if Michael had lived longer on if we get a future story event with their daughter much much older she can probably learn to speak while in a transform state.
Underworld is a bloody, fun, action-packed series. I love the races and how each one has its own hierarchy, culture, and motives. Underworld has an array of interesting characters and unique mythology; it'd be a shame for it to never return. It'd be cool to learn more about Alexander Corvinus, maybe a mini-series with him acting as the protagonist. There could be other monsters we've never heard of because Alexander spent centuries fighting them in the shadows.
It had a huge potential, it could tap into central european mythology (Magyar, Germanic, Slavic) as it was taking place there and use much from it... However the producers decided to play it safe and only use two basic internationally known creatures. Witcher utilised the mythology from that region and became very popular.
A Ghost rider and Jonah Hex would have an amazing addition to helping Selene combat the vampire and lichen/werewolf forces.. Like Selene who has symbiotic-telepathy with both Michael her husband and Eve as well.. Jonah has necromancy ☠️ 💢 ☠️ ability to summon anyone or anything that was long sense dead( just by touching them and get information from them) not only receive information but as an added-perk while they are under his control they can not lie about any question he ask them, they are being forced to give him the information no matter how strong their will is.. Ghost can do something similar as Jonah but he's not as nice 😈 lol plus he can collect their souls as well from death itself to post-pone judgement day(ghost rider is seen taken on both higher Seraphim,Cheriuphims,Thrones, principalities, authorities and even the devil himself) so I wouldn't piss him off too much 😈 Another set of great allies for Selene would be Punisher,Blade and Hellboy you guys already know their abilities *evil maniacal laughter*
Man I still want them to go back and make more movies in this universe. They could do a number of interesting things, and what's great is that the deep lore and history has barely been fleshed out and that's where all my excitement for Underworld stems ultimately.
Even though it’s probably hopeless by now and there’s no chance f it happening, i personally have a theory that the series can continue and that Michael is still alive but is in some sort of hibernation state because of his vampire side.
This series was originally based on the White Wolf games. Read through those for more lore and history. White Wolf pulled out so many things were changed.
My most notable scene in underworld 1 was that we've seen vampires fighting the lycans from a distance with guns but then Victor shows up and grabs a lycans by the throat establishing how much stronger he is verses the other vampires
Did you guys pay attention to the movies? Victor and Marcus? Do you remember that Victor was afraid of William? At best, Lucien might be the same generation as Selene. They made it seem as if his mother was not William's mate. I don't think they specified though.
@@thatgayqueen2826 to be fair Victor being afraid of William might not be that he couldn't beat him but just the fact of how rabid William was and that would make it difficult to kill him as opposed to the other lycans. Also Victor didn't know about hybrids so he may have feared getting bit and it killing him
@@JoshuaWilkesR Viktor back then was only at the level of human form Lucian. He wasn't as old and powerful as he was at the time of the first movie. William would smoke Viktor, even the one from the first movie.
Would definitely love to see a video about the Nordic covens. Its such an interesting series and the Nordic coven seems to be the most mysterious group among them
And, as far as covens go, they're actually pretty nice and welcoming of outsiders. Plus, their blend of winter clothing and plate mail armor looks really cool. ;D
You know, considering that elders could survive exsanguination by going into hibernation its entirely possible that Michael is still alive at the end of Blood Wars, despite being drained by Marius. It wouldn't even be the first time we've seen Michael suffer fatal injuries and be drained of most of his blood. It would also explain why Eve, who has a physic connection to both her parents, thinks he is still out there and is still searching for him.
Been a while since I saw the movie but.... He wasnt just drained. He was picked clean... Its why Marius was so intent on crushing the vampires for good, he was running out of Micheal-juice to keep his power. Would love another movie to tie up loose ends too but with how they do things these days we are more likely to get a half-assed Netflix series instead.
ya its possible micheal just went into hybernation same case with alexander corvinus, also a good way for alexander to fake his deth and get out of the radar of selene.
@@loiclebeau258Also wouldn't it have made more sense for Marius to keep Michael Corvin alive? That way he could have an endless supply of his blood. Just in case he couldn't find Eve. That would have made more sense. Instead of just completely draining him dry. Like a complete idiot. Also he could have used him as leverage to get to Selene. Because everyone knows the love that Selene has for Michael. But that's just me. Marius was a very stupid villain. Not just he did with Michael. But his plan was very stupid. His plan was to get Eve. Because he said without her blood. They couldn't destroy the last of the vampires. But what does he do when can't get Eve? He attacks the Coven anyway. So that and what he did with Michael just makes Marius look like a complete moron. Than a good villain. I miss villains who were smart and cunning like Victor and Marcus. Who also made their intentions perfectly clear.
Michael was supposed to be this powerful hybrid cause that’s what everybody said in universe…. But what we saw was Michael getting rag dolled in like every single fight he was in 😂😂😂😂
He lost to Marcus cuz he wasn't fully formed and wasn't drinking blood even Selene was saying he was weaker cuz of it he also lost to what's his face cuz he's an ancient vampire but wit better fighting experience same as Marcus
To be honest they all should be weaker the animal like genetic from the animals likes bats and wolves are both not that strong that’s why they hunt in groups in real life also y are vampires and wolves always immortal don’t age or age way slower than a person vampires Aka a bat life span is just a lil of 30 years and wolves we all know there just wild undomesticated dogs so we all know they are 14 years at most before they die
A little correction: the death of Marcus would not kill the vampire, it's just his made up excuse so that Victor wouldn't kill William when they hunt him down
Victor had no lycan slaves when he captured William. So I don't think Victor could have been deterred by the possibility of William dying unless Marcus threatened to kill himself, which makes the whole thing pretty damn dark.
You mean werewolves? The descendants of William were indeed slaves before Lucien and the Lycan strain was a thing. Selene acknowledges this when talking to Tanis. I'm paraphrasing here but she said something along the lines of "The death of William could mean the death of all werewolves... His slaves..."
That virus that infected the village must have been so brutal it burned itself out with just how lethal it was. It would have to have been dormant in close proximity to Corvinus's village because we never saw anyone else anywhere in the world get infected or survive to become an immortal. Maybe it came on a meteorite from deep space😮
I don't think Marcus was stronger than Michael which is why he attack Michael first and killed him before he could transform into his hybrid form because Michael would have been a big problem for him to fight unlike Selene who he could easily take down before she got Alexander's blood and became enhanced.
Marcus beat Michael in their first fight despite taking countless bullets. And why would Michael be stronger? Both are hybrids but Marcus is 1600yo older.
Michael was still transitioning into a Lycan when he was bitten by a vampire (since his first transformation was prevented through a drug), therefore was only ever a hybrid. He's a much closer balance between the two species than Marcus is. That's why he came close to beating Marcus and Victor, but Marcus is definitely stronger. He just knew that if Alexander had been willing to fight, then there was no way he could take on Michael, Alexander and Selene at the same time. MAYBE as a hybrid he'd stand a chance against his dad despite Alexander being older. But even then it's unclear.
Quick question: Do you or have you ever considered covering vampires from novels?? I ask because the vampires described in Brian Lumley's 'Necroscope' novels, well, they put every last TV/Movie vampire to shame. If you're not familiar with them, you really should check them out. Truly horrifying.
Very cool idea, plenty of written universes have vampires of some form, even those entirely divergent from your typical 'vampire story', for instance warhammer 40k(a world known mostly for galaxy-spanning grimdark battles and buff guys in power armor beating the shit out of aliens) has a number of vampiric characters and elements, Halo devices being perhaps the most direct use of the motif
@@livestreamgaming420 I just looked up your reference. Young Adult books? Really? Familiarize yourself with Lumley's Wamphyri and you'll see he's set a very HIGH bar and done a damn fine job of creating horrifying creatures who luxuriate in being pure evil! A Wamphyri 'janitor' would take any tv or movie vampire, bend them over, and proceed to, uh, 'humiliate' them in ways that even Torquemada would say 'Uh, you think that might be just a little extreme?'
Coming through in the clutch. Needed something today and Cogan comes through. Love your channel bro and congrats on the plaque and subs. You should have more in my opinion but keep doing what you do. Much appreciated.
Greetings from Germany!!! Love your channel and content because your knowledge about Vampire lore in general is bigger than mine and you know Vampire the masquerade. Do you know more about the other factions in the world of darkness from whitewolf? For example, demon:the fallen, hunter: the reckoning or Magus....etc. would love to hear more content from that franchise!!! Vampire movies I didn't saw yet on the channel: from dusk till dawn 1 and 2. The american series of Vampire the masqurade. Saw a couple episodes at a friend in 2004. Hope that's enough input for new video ideas. Keep up the work and style!!! Thanks!!!!!!
@@angelaholmes8888 I doubt it had much of an audience, but I'd also love to see a comparison with them & Tale of the Mummy/ Talos, the Mummy (1998)- because the backstory they presented with that one is _wild_ , yo... PS. The late, great Christopher Lee was in it briefly.
Its interesting how different the Hybrids are. Michael (with the original dormant strain, possibly weakened?) was bitten by the first Lycan (unknown how many generations of werewofl before it) and then a second generation Vampire (Selene was turned by Victor, first generation turned directly by Marcus). Marcus as the original Vampire doesnt get bitten by a Lycan but gets blood from a Lycan of unknown generation and still turn into a Hybrid. Lucian as the first Lycan and Sonja as a second generation Vampire would propably birth the weakest Hybrid of them yet likely the most stable (he/she doesnt have any of the orginal bloodline). Eve is the special one for sure with Michael and Selene (after she drank Alexanders blood) as parents. The question is if she was weakened by the countless experiments done to her and the fact that her powers were dormant until she recieved blood in the Vampire coven after her injury. Wish we got another movie that explored her more.
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 Do we know if Sonja is actually pureblood? And I didnt say the child would be weak, just weakest of the known Hybrids. But, totally possible that it would still be close to or equal to Michael.
I believe Marius kept a humanoid head in his transformation because he was taking Michael's blood straight. Yes he has the pure Korvinus strain but he is also a hybrid that keeps more humanoid features during his transformations. Quint was taking a purified strain extracted from blood
Quint was the only completed Enhanced Corvinus strain Lycan/Werewolf. Jacob wasn't finished and Marius was unstable because he needed to somehow to get the Corvinus strain seperated from Micheal. Quint is the most poweful a pure Werewolf/Lycan can become. His size, stamina, and strength was unmatched. The polar opposite of him was Seline. She was a Corvinus strain Enhanced Vampire. With the Sacred ritual of Var Dohr she became the most powerful Vampire possible. She wouldn't be able to pul the spine from a turned Quint Lane. That fight will always be 50/50. David didn't have the sacred ritual. This is what should've happened.......... The truth is Marcus and William should've remained the most powerful. No hybrids. Both were the Originals. Twin sons from the immortal of Alexander was perfect. Marcus should've been the only one to turn into a bat by being the original and also be in sunlight. Anyone that Marcus bites can also be in sunlight. William should;ve been able to change back to Human. If William bit you in wolf form you could never turn to human. You would became a raging wolf. If he bit you in human form you are a Lycan. William is the only greyish white Werewolf/Lycan by being the first.
@@tedunseth3966 Quint was also limited. He wasn't fully immune to silver and still needed constant injections of Corvinus Strain. And Marius was at the same level as Quint, both beat Selene with similar difficulty. In fact Marius beats her much quicker than Quint did in his final fight. And where are you getting that they are the strongest Vamp and Lycan? They can't be more powerful than the source, William was born immortal and is 1600yo, he has the active Corvinus Strain. The text at the beginning of U2 says it all, William is the first and most powerful Werewolf. All others are his "descendents, and can't surpass him. Marcus is the most powerful immortal as he is a hybrid and is the oldest after his father.
This is the first time i've seen your channel. Well presented. I love exploring lore like this from the context of 1 movie or show. It's especially interesting when you compare it the the ground rules set out in other series.
One thing worth mentioning as to the power of the Pure Immortals is that they seem to have the same ability to sort through thoughts and memories as the Vampire Elders. Alexander Corvinus was able to monitor all of the phone calls, television, and radio reports in his communications center and single out a police that mentioned Selene.
My favorite hybrid would have to be Marcus, mainly because I have always liked vampires over werewolves. I think you are right about William, that he would still retain his mostly werewolf form, but possibly be able to turn back into a human, and probably have wings like his brother. I really would have loved to see how powerful Alexander really was, what is abilities were and what he would be capable of doing. It is an interesting theory about what would happen to Alexander if he were to be bitten by a spider, would he grow extra arms, would he grow fangs capable of injecting venom, would he be capable of spinning webs, would the virus be able to mutate with non-mammalian DNA? What would have happened if Alexander was bitten by a venomous snake, stung by a wasp or bee, stung by a jellyfish, bitten by a blue ringed octopus? I know I'm getting a little crazy with the "what if's, but the possibilities are almost endless, depending on whether or not the virus is adaptable to any type of Earthly DNA.
Excellent explanation video about the different races, all well detailed and you used the novels that I had not read, such as the explanation of a wolf biting William while he was riding with Marcus, this universe is fantastic but they did not know how to exploit it well, I didn't like what they did with Michael and what they did with Eve is even worse, I understand that Scott speedman didn't want to come back but they had Eve's actress available so if this is the case, why didn't they use her accordingly? It appears at the end of the blood wars movie and only for two seconds, very bad on the part of the director or the writers or whoever had that wonderful idea.
You know I recently found your videos so correct me if I just haven't seen it, but I'd love to see a video of your perfect vampire. Just by personal preference from someone who knows so much about so many different variations of these supernatural creatures in fiction, what would be your actual perfect vampire? Mixing and matching anything from the tool box of all you've seen and read about, what would that look like?
I thought Marcus just looked like a bat as being the first one so he could kind of shape shift. Like William, bitten by wolf turned into warewolf. Also Marcus hasnt been bitten by a lycan, he drank his blood. Going in that direction then Selene should evolve too while biting Michael Corvin while he was turning into warewolf
Selene nit Michael...doesnt mean she drank his blood, Selene also wasn't a descendant of Corvinus so she was incapable of becoming a hybrid. At best drinking his blood would make her sick, at worst it would have killed her.
If you notice, all vampires that became hybrids permanently, they did it by just drinking blood, or direct intravenous contact with it (like David). Lycans can't hold their hybrid forms for long by drinking or injecting blood (like Jacob, Quint or Marius), they have to be biten (like Michael) to permanently transform.
This is what I just assumed to be the case as well. They're twins, so genetically should be the same and hold the exact same type of Corvinus strain. Their bodies should react the exact same, only difference being personality and the animal that bites them. William can't stop raging and stays as a wolf, but Marcus as the more calm and collected isn't stuck.
The rabies from the wolf accelerates the transformation. Marcus was bitten by an ordinary bat, hence he gained most the abilities and less of physical changes.
0:31 Whoa I thought you tubers didn't do this anymore. That's so nice of you to say, but I like your content, it somehow makes me feel better about all the movies I have watched! So, thank you for your channel!
I don't believe Marcus was a hybrid- Just the OG vampire like his brother. Both look and have powers way above the rest. He rests in sunlight ect (the writers would have obviously wrote it in that he can walk in the sun) .... I think he was just a super strong vampire - and the blood he drank from the dead wolf just woke him up.
Marcus does become a hybrid. That was the whole point in his eyes turning black at the end of the first movie, upon drinking the lycan blood he wakes up and his blue vamp eyes turn the same black as hybrid form Michael. Why would they have "obviously" wrote that he could walk in the sun? It's already established that hybrids can walk in the sun, no need to show the same info again. The only times we see him rest during the day, is right after a fight where he took some heavy damage, and like was mentioned in the video he likely didn't know he could walk in the sun.
@@davidmathieson8661 Beside his eyes turning black which could just be a thing last director put in when he didn't even know if the movie would garner a second one... But beside that 1 thing?? there is legit NO other clues or hints or winks of the eye to show he is a hybrid... it's the complete opposite and he just looks like his brother.. just a hyper version of what they are - a vampire and a wolf. His brother killed 100000s of vampires and tasted their blood - is the argument his brother is also Hybrid??? I highly doubt that..... And when I meant the writers would obviously write it in?? is the fact that the guy was a vampire for like 2k years and since then never went into the sun... you're telling me that after 2k + years of not seeing the sun - he wouldn't walk into it at least once? It's more likely the writers wanted to hint at some new powerful hybrid at the end of the first- and the second film was greenlit? they just took it in a slightly different direction. Again my argument is that not once in the second film is it EVER hinted that he is a hybrid.
@@landofsyn2980 no hints or clues or winks? Other than transforming into a human bat hybrid that no other vampire and he himself has never done up until that point? "It's the complete opposite and he just looks like his brother" are you on meth? Where in the film does he look like his brother? At what point does he look like a white werewolf? What we see in the films is the opposite of what you're saying, he looks like the reverse of Michael (a lycan/vampire hybrid...funny that isn't it). Where was it even implied that William killed "100000s of vampires"? Marcus turned Viktor and built a vampire army in order to hunt down and kill William's rampaging werewolf spawn and contain William...there wasn't 100000s of vampires kicking about, it would have been a few hundred at most in those early days considering not everyone takes to the vampire virus and he went to Viktor for his army. Seeing as how violently vampire and werewolf/lycan cells react to each other vampire blood likely doesn't taste all that good even to someone who has lost most of their mind like William did, so it is fair to say he never had the inclination to swallow any vampire blood he came in contact with, any time he bit a vampire it was as an offensive attack during combat, so he wasn't aiming to feed, wild animals don't attempt to feed while being attacked, why would William? That last art about him being around for a long time and never going out into the sun doesn't even amount to anything, he likely did try to go out into the sun when he was first turned into a vampire...it would have burned him then, then for the next 800ish years (don't know where you're getting 2k) he was still a vampire who burns in the sun, becoming a hybrid was a recent event, so it was fairly well ingrained in his mind that sun = bad. Even then if he deduced that he could go into the sun as a hybrid wether from the knowledge gained from the Lycan blood memories or just sticking his arm into daylight to test, they still don't NEED to show it in the film...because we already know from Michael's ability to walk in the sun that hybrids aren't affected by it. The fact that we only see him at night also doesn't negate that he could be travelling during the day off screen, also it is shown that Lycans, Vampires and Hybrids still require rest...having been a vampire for many centuries it is likely that sleeping during the day has become ingrained in his psyche and so he is sticking to old habits. His being a hybrid is the whole point of the second film. Do you need everything stated bluntly to you in a film for you to take that info on? He even states how he is no longer just a vampire when speaking to his father IN THE BLOODY MOVIE.
@@davidmathieson8661 I mean a lot of bat species seem to have near solid black eyes. Given that his body should react the exact same way William's did (they're twins, exact same genetics) it would be likely that the black eyes were from the original bat and get expressed when he shifts into that state
Well Marcus had a 2nd generation corvinus virus and the lycan virus he consumed was probably weaker than his own so he assimilated it into his vampire virus and gained a further mutated form that is bat themed rather than a hybrid of vampire and lycan
Would love it if you could make a video about the vampires from "The Interview with the Vampire" TV show. I thought they were pretty interesting and was surprised you hadn't covered them.
I love the Underworld franchise and lore. Although I agree with you on some things with the lore. I wasn’t a fan of the giant lycan they made, I thought the Nordic coven was cool but was a little hesitant with the “other side” thing, but also like you stated, maybe that allowed them to fully tap into the abilities they had. I also reeeeally disliked the human head on a lycan body thing. But other than that! I do love this franchise a lot!
The problem with sequels is that the writers keep trying to one up themselves. Which eventually leads to a total suspension of belief ruining the series. It just got way to over the top. Instead of exploring other interesting parts of the world it just became a monster fest. This one is more powerful but ah ha............this one is even MORE powerful but THIS ONE OMG! It just ruined the series.
Still very curious as to if any other animal besides a bat or a wolf bit a pure immortal...would they turn into a mutation of that? Was Alexander never bitten by a mosquito? A bedbug? Does it have to have rabies? What if it was a racoon?
A little thing about Eve, she isn’t Lycan-dominant, but she only appears to be really feral in her minimally transformed state. She would be what we call a “Tribrid” of the three immortal species, Vampirism from both her parents, Lycanthropy from her father, and active Corvinus Strain from her mother (Michael, despite being a Corvinus descendant would only give her a recessive and diluted version of the strain). So if anything Eve would be a corvinus/vampire-dominant tribrid. And her eyes have BOTH characteristics of lycan (completely black/dark eyes) and vampire (glowing blue irises). Also drinking Alexander’s blood didn’t just enhance Selene but made her into a Corvinus Strain-Vampire hybrid, the first of her kind, which she then turned David and the rest of the Old World Covens by the end of Blood Wars. Quint, his dad, and Marius weren’t just enhanced but also hybridized altogether. I would note that maybe the only notable enhanced species would be the vampires of the Nordic Coven (and other vampires that underwent the Valisa ritual), developing white hair and teleporting (although i never understood why Lena and later Selene, were the only ones shown to possess the speed blitz).
@@thatgayqueen2826 No. She didn't get pregnant then. Because Awakening took place 6 months after Evolution. If Selene got impregnated then. She would have had a pretty big belly. Suggesting that Michael Corvin and Selene must have had sex again not too long before the Purge. Think about it. A man and woman alone together for 6 months. Something tells me that they would have sex more than once. It would have been cool if Underworld Endless War actually showed us when that happened.
@@peeweemaroske8619 I will need to watch the movies again. I am in the middle of watching all of the Married With Children series, so it will be a little bit. Not all pregnant women show a lot at 6 months. Two friends of mine were barely noticeable until between 6-7 months.
There's no such a thing as a tribrid, there's no such a thing as a hybrid of Vamp/Lycan with "immortal Corvinus", Vamps and Lycans are already immortal. Eve is a Vamp-Lycan hybrid, with 75% Vamp blood and 25% Lycan because his mother was a Vamp ans father a hybrid. Tribids and Immortal Corvinus Strain-hybrids were nonsense invented by fans who edited the wiki many years ago. Currently this is getting fixed.
I feel like you didn't give Lucian the love you gave Viktor. Lucian was like the boogeyman for Vampires and almost killed Viktor in one on one combat meaning he was stronger than Michael
he was a better fighter he beat Victor by being smart Victor was still physically stronger and if he actually manage to get his hands on Lucian specially in his human form it would be game over
@@cobaltjay9862victor likely hasn't been in battle nearly as long, or was likey multiple centuries behind on battle experience as they started relying on the wolves
I think William actually was a hybrid, as his brother wasn't changed by a werewolf bite, but via werewolf blood. As William had drank vampire blood in combat, I would guess he would've already changed to a hybrid, which explained his mass and white coloring, mimicking the color his brother turned when becoming a hybrid. I'm also guessing this is why William was able to survive his imprisonment; a regular werewolf would (guessing as never explained) starve to death, while a hybrid werewolf could theoretically sleep in hibernation like a vampire.
He had never drank Vampire blood. We literally never see it happening. The entire thing was that the Vampires were hunting him down and they finally find him at the beginning of Evolution. Werewolves are also immortal, they can't starve.
Great stuff! I appreciate your thoughtful breakdown on each specie Sir. I quite enjoy this series, regardless of the faults they may display. Some original and unique considerations went into the character developments and plotlines. Also, I think the make-up, sfx and set designs were all first rate. Cheers. :)
Man... I think my favourite Immortal based on story would have to be Lucian. But in terms of feats my favourite has always been Michael Corvin, specifically in the first movie when he does the anime teleport on Victor
Eve was a Lycan dominant hybrid. I think she was the only true regular hybrid, similar to what Sonja and Lucian's baby might've been. When she transformed, she had no addditional transformation besides her skin going gray, her eyes changing color and her growing fangs and claws. She didn't become a beast. And her eyes were blue and black, a symbol of a true union between species. Not a dominate side off either. And both species of immortals have to feed on blood to live forever, it's just the lycans are monsters when they transform and feed on meat too.
My dude, Eve is literally 75% Vampire and only 25% Lycan. Lucian's child would be the only neutral one. Marcus and Michael are 50-50, so they are way more neutral than Eve.
@@reinsaxony4623I think it depends on how pure the species is? Remember that Michael was bitten by Lucian "The first Lycan" hence making him a Lycan dominant hybrid. Marcus on the other hand being the first vampire "and of the Corvinus clan" drank the blood of an inferior Lycan hence becoming a Vampire dominant hybrid.
5:04 I think that’s because they’ve been exposed to a impure lycan/ werewolf venom. As you see Tanis & his concubines/progeny all have yellow eyes. We also know he was more than a historian but also a scientist to a degree as he made the UV bullets my guess is he had to test it out somehow possibly with both vampire and Lycan venom to make sure it wasn’t instantly fatal to Lycans. He was also in direct contact with Kraven if i remember correctly. So the yellowing of the eyes and by extension the skin (as his skin and his wives were way more saturated than any other pure blood or bitten vampires) This may have given him the ability to appear more human like and digest human pleasures like food and water and wine. As it’s said he was off the grid for centuries and he seemed to have stayed in his fortress for decades to centuries. As he was enjoying human drinks and food in the scene we find him. He probably made himself pseudo human.
Great work with this video Cogan! Definitely would like a video on the Nordic and other covens. Also, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how the sacred ritual works including the possibilities for hybrid and lycans. Edit: I also got to thinking maybe the Nordic coven discovered the sacred world due to the fact that unlike the waring covens, they had the time and peace for spirituality, meditation, and enlightenment to discover something beyond the science and biology.
my problem is what kind of bat bite Markus in middle ages Europe all known vampire bat species live specifically on a American continents normal bats do not bite humans even if it did this would probably made him in to a man bat it would not give him blood lust he would not be a vampire it would make more sense if he wore bitten by a tick or some thing
Always assumed Marcus didn't become a hybrid, but Selene just assumed he was. Werewolves forcibly got shifted into wolf form, so I kind of just thought Marcus from the get go could transform into that (without losing his mind) but either didn't show people or didn't know he could until much later than the flashback sequence.
He is a hybrid. He literally tells his father he will try to create a new race based on him, "no lycans, father, or vampires, a new race, based on the image of their new god, me". And the reason his eyes in Hybrid form is black is because Lycans have black eyes, which carried to Hybrids like Michael. We literally see his eyes turning black when he drinks Lycan blood, showing his transformation. He was born immortal, he had the active Corvinus Strain that allows Vamp and Lycan blood to mix, so how would he not be a hybrid after drinking Lycan blood?
Marcus became a hybrid, after he drank the Lycan scientist's blood at the end of the first movie. A big reason why he is literally the same color as Michael as a hybrid.
I always hated how Amelia went down in Underworld. I feel like she'd have put up a good fight especially in close quarters. The fact that her death was mainly offscreen was also disappointing.
I REALLY love this series. The first three films are among some of my favorite vampire/werewolf films ever. They're so full of exciting action and have some really top notch acting. The scene between Marcus and Alexander is so Shakespearean that you'd expect it to be in some massive epic about good and evil the acting and writing so was good.
Also rewatching the first film right now and just realized something. The doctor says that the one lycan can't regenerate because the silver has destroyed the organs. Making, in his own words, "regeneration impossible at this point". Maybe that's why the elders are able to hibernate the way they do. They pretty much are dead in the sense that their organs have stopped functioning. But because there's no actual damage done to them they can be revived. Also gives a reason to why Selene thought Michael was truly dead. His lungs and heart were very clearly destroyed when impaled. But since he was a hybrid he was able to regenerate even vital organs like his heart and lungs. I just love you can realize though some seemingly throw away line that might go unnoticed for those not paying attention.
I also prefer the human hybrids such as Corvinus. I like to see what the writer, director etc. envision, but on the whole I'm keen on the true nature hidden, more mysterious that way, leaves more to the viewers imagination; not everything needs to be drawn out for me. Great video, thanks!
One thing that makes eve so powerful is the fact that she was born AFTER saleen was enhanced by Alexander's blood so you could say she's an enhanced hybrid.
19:04 but in the scene where she is fighting ihim in the garage and shes stabbing him in the head in his uber lycan form, we can clearly see that his eyes are yellow. Underworld is pretty inconsistent with the design of the werewolves and lycans
The Vampire Elders kept themselves powerful, there age as a vampire makes you more powerful as you age. The Elders also drink each other's blood and that adds to there power. If they can learn and build knowledge with each other's blood, all that someone knows, Marcus should have know all things needed to find William way before he did and yes Victor was not a normal vampire, Victor could also be a mental master/tactical master mind. It's a limit on what the blood passes on if the vampires blood is that of a vampire that can repress what you can learn from there blood. Victor was on a different level and Amelia was also keeping William's location away from Marcus. So Victor and Amelia had the power to block away mental secrets.
Is marcus really a hybrid? He didnt get bit by a lycan, he just consumed its blood. Seems like it just finally triggered the bat dna to end up like his brother. Or maybe he already had those abilities and didnt know. He didnt know he was the first vampire in the beginning
Amelia also had yellowish eyes. Maybe Tanis and that other woman were her progeny? Also, Eve is more vampire than lycan (as both of her parents are part vampire)
Fun fact about the movie, The actor who plays Raze, "Kevin Grevioux" is the co-creator of the entire Underworld series.
He is also a microbiologist and chemist, and came up with the idea of the vampire and werewolf infection to be a virus instead of being supernatural in nature.
Yes he was👍🏽
He’s also a fellow Thor fan. Love that guy.
Apparently he based the plot on his experience in interracial dating.
RIP
Raze was always my favorite in the movie! When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to have a voice like his and a physique like his. Dude was a boss!
Also you forgot that while Marcus is in his hybrid form, he still has the ability to speak. Unlike Lycan dominant hybrids.
But I don't think he's Lycan-dominant since he's the first vampire. His vampire strain would be dominant.
Eve is vampire dominant but cant speak
When main character drank Marcus' dad's blood she got stronger right. So if anyone drinks his blood would become strong?
I could even see Netflix trying out an animated version which could be amazing too!
I liked them but I thought Blood Wars was a weak, unnecessary entry
@howardhavardramberg7160 that's a 50/50 at BEST
Castlevania was good but look what they did to Resident Evil
A Ghost rider and Jonah Hex would have an amazing addition to helping Selene combat the vampire and lichen/werewolf forces..
Like Selene who has symbiotic-telepathy with both Michael her husband and Eve as well.. Jonah has necromancy ☠️ 💢 ☠️ ability to summon anyone or anything that was long sense dead( just by touching them and get information from them) not only receive information but as an added-perk while they are under his control they can not lie about any question he ask them, they are being forced to give him the information no matter how strong their will is..
Ghost can do something similar as Jonah but he's not as nice 😈 lol plus he can collect their souls as well from death itself to post-pone judgement day(ghost rider is seen taken on both higher Seraphim,Cheriuphims,Thrones, principalities, authorities and even the devil himself) so I wouldn't piss him off too much 😈
Another set of great allies for Selene would be Punisher,Blade and Hellboy you guys already know their abilities *evil maniacal laughter*
Selene was turned by who,Viktor.
That part 💯
Yea victor to me would SMOKE Lucius and he’s supposed to be the leader of the Lycans. Victor and Marcus both can solo the whole coven I feel like
Did you guys pay attention to the movies?
That could be possible if Marius didn't destroy his full body.
@@peeweemaroske8619 The 2 new movies don't compare to the original trilogy.
For a moment, I thought it was or re-uploaded, and then I remembered how much you love this movie series so good for you
Is it me though or was Michael so Underpowered. I swear they hyped the hell out of a Hybrid for him to be beaten so many times.
Michael was supposed to be this powerful hybrid cause that’s what everybody said in universe…. But what we saw was Michael getting rag dolled in like every single fight he was in 😂😂😂😂
I guess that's because he abstained from taking human blood@@KingAndy22
Well he was just a new born, didnt really know what hes capable of. Besides, his opponents were centuries old of supernatural fighting experience.
Love your Underworld videos (definitely my favourite movies of all time). Thank you!
❤❤❤❤
A little correction: the death of Marcus would not kill the vampire, it's just his made up excuse so that Victor wouldn't kill William when they hunt him down
Good point, probably he said that so that Victor wont get rid of him also & victor stays with all the power
That’s exactly correct. Marcus used it as a power play over Victor so he wouldn’t kill him and essentially “become” the original vampire
He used that story to make Victor believe it and not try to kill him off
That virus that infected the village must have been so brutal it burned itself out with just how lethal it was.
You should do "The Night Watch" and "The Day Watch" next.
Quick question: Do you or have you ever considered covering vampires from novels?? I ask because the vampires described in Brian Lumley's 'Necroscope' novels, well, they put every last TV/Movie vampire to shame. If you're not familiar with them, you really should check them out. Truly horrifying.
That's a great idea
Or the legacy of Darren Shan
@@livestreamgaming420 Start yer own comment.

Great Review as always, but I was wondering if you could do The Mummy Franchise by comparing the one with Brendan Fraser with the one with Tom Cruise.
Interesting idea 🤔

I doubt it had much of an audience, but I'd also love to see a comparison with them & Tale of the Mummy/ Talos, the Mummy (1998)- because the backstory they presented with that one is _wild_ , yo...
Supposedly Eve originally didn't have her true strength because she had never drank blood before doing so in the Vampire coven.
Nope because Sonja is a pure blood vampire and lucian outside of Marcus is the strongest lycan, their child would be very powerful
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 Do we know if Sonja is actually pureblood? And I didnt say the child would be weak, just weakest of the known Hybrids. But, totally possible that it would still be close to or equal to Michael.
@@DatDarkOne Yup, thats why I called them dormant. Curious if the type of blood awakening her affected anything but I doubt it.
Marcus would be the only first generation Vampire. Viktor would be second generation, being Marcus' childer. Selene would then be 3rd generation.
I find that vampires move so fast they seem to teleport its just not seen often .
Best scene to signify would be underworld 2, forest scene
One plot problem. William has fed on vampires, so he should have been the first hybrid back before he was captured. @@reinsaxony4623
AKASHA, from the Queen Of The Damned, she's a bad ass

Suspended Animation of Micheal was really depressing but your channel has really made me develop massive in this lore
New subscriber, love the videos man! Not enough cinematic in-depth content being made with good quality. Looking forward to future videos !
this guy is so underrated man congrats on 100k
The 2 new movies are cash grabs, the real franchise is the trilogy.
I love Werewolves and Vampires they are awesome respect and keep up the epic work.
Great breakdown. I love Underworld content. Def interested in more.
Still very curious as to if any other animal besides a bat or a wolf bit a pure immortal...would they turn into a mutation of that? Was Alexander never bitten by a mosquito? A bedbug? Does it have to have rabies? What if it was a racoon?
It's possible that Alexander wouldn't shift since his body only adapted to it, but someone born of it (the three sons and direct descendants) could
Yay congrats on reaching 100k!! Most deserved 👏
I love so much your videos . I always get happy when you publish new videos !!! ❤
In the movie, Selene seems to realize that she is pregnant after they have sex. They had sex prior to her drinking Alexander's blood.
Great stuff as always mate.
Cogan thank you love underworld ive watched everyone so many times
I feel like you didn't give Lucian the love you gave Viktor. Lucian was like the boogeyman for Vampires and almost killed Viktor in one on one combat meaning he was stronger than Michael
he was a better fighter he beat Victor by being smart Victor was still physically stronger and if he actually manage to get his hands on Lucian specially in his human form it would be game over
@@FriendlyGhost-rf7tq Victor was a veteran of countless battles, Lucian was a slave, Victor should be more skilled
@@cobaltjay9862victor likely hasn't been in battle nearly as long, or was likey multiple centuries behind on battle experience as they started relying on the wolves
@@livestreamgaming420 Lucian was rarely allowed to battle
@@cobaltjay9862 Victor trained Lucian and Lucian is more natrualy talened as a born immortal he is just better
Interesting theory
He had never drank Vampire blood. We literally never see it happening.
The entire thing was that the Vampires were hunting him down and they finally find him at the beginning of Evolution.
Werewolves are also immortal, they can't starve.
I feel like Eve should've been a vampire dominant hybrid because she's biologically 75% vamp and 25% lycan
Watching this i realise how consistent the lore and power scaling has been through the movies
Yow I've been looking for a video like this for years know, damn it bro you deserve a sub
Great stuff!
I appreciate your thoughtful breakdown on each specie Sir.
I quite enjoy this series, regardless of the faults they may display. Some original and unique considerations went into the character developments and plotlines.
Also, I think the make-up, sfx and set designs were all first rate.
Cheers. :)
Please do the Underworld covens video! Love this channel and that topic seems like a wonderful idea!
That's a super-interesting thought...
Yes would like a video of the other covens
Great work with this video Cogan! Definitely would like a video on the Nordic and other covens. Also, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how the sacred ritual works including the possibilities for hybrid and lycans.
Edit: I also got to thinking maybe the Nordic coven discovered the sacred world due to the fact that unlike the waring covens, they had the time and peace for spirituality, meditation, and enlightenment to discover something beyond the science and biology.
Wow congrats on over 110k. Can’t believe how fast that happened.
Can’t thank you enough for this underworld video.
Well, when a man gets bitten by a rabid bat, and then a rabid wolf, and then his children get very drunk and start leering at each other....
I read this as Rabid Rabbit and Rabid Wolf for some reason lolol.
my problem is what kind of bat bite Markus in middle ages Europe all known vampire bat species live specifically on a American continents normal bats do not bite humans even if it did this would probably made him in to a man bat it would not give him blood lust he would not be a vampire it would make more sense if he wore bitten by a tick or some thing
@@FriendlyGhost-rf7tq Well, that is why I always assumed it was rabid.
@@ornu01 like a virus its self is what gives blood lust and vampire caracteristics? I can go with that.
@@rodan9773or raving rabbids 🤐
Oh I'm just having the best time watching your stuff!
If he's a hybrid then he doesn't need Viktor and his companions in stopping William back then.
Enjoyed this video quite a lot. Thank you.
Would love to see the -Legacy of Kain- series etc.
Hi, Cogan. Love your channel. Can you do a video on netflix first kill.
Very good video, congratulations. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the content like this. Greetings from SARAJEVO BIH
I love this universe but I wish we got to see Eve evolve since who knows with more training she could have changed into a new version eventually
would have been astounding to see if it would have happened in the past sometime
Oh I LIVE FOR the Classic Seline "Jump-down of feet, Land...one knee kneal...pose..pose... wait for it... wait for it.... and STAND-n-WALK!" Moment!🖤
14:13 the form of lycans are different not the same, lycans have less hair and a far shorter muzzle.
Found this channel about a week ago…cannot stop watching 🤘
4 minutes in and these movies sound more interesting than I ever thought, best go binge them all then
I always hated how Amelia went down in Underworld. I feel like she'd have put up a good fight especially in close quarters. The fact that her death was mainly offscreen was also disappointing.
Please do make a video about the Vampire Covens in Underworld
Do the vampires from "We are the Night" (in german "Wir sind die Nacht") next!
Oh yes please do a video on the nordic coven 🙂
Pretty good video, thanks for sharing!
I will literally watch any video you do on blade or underworld or Resident evil
5:48 those shoes are probably supernatural too since they are able to resist such an impact :))
One thing that makes eve so powerful is the fact that she was born AFTER saleen was enhanced by Alexander's blood so you could say she's an enhanced hybrid.
I think we should definitely get a covent video, you do these so well
Would love to see a deep dive into the Nordic concern!
well done!
Great job on your content I love the underworld series
The blood memory thing is basically reserve for elders because it takes a lot of skill and strength to actually put order in since to the memories
I would be interested in more information on the Nordic branch of vampires.
I like these movies a lot and I think you done nice job
What is your music at the end of your videos? Not sure why, but it reminds me of watching horror movies when I was a kid in the 80s.
Good times
19:04 but in the scene where she is fighting ihim in the garage and shes stabbing him in the head in his uber lycan form, we can clearly see that his eyes are yellow. Underworld is pretty inconsistent with the design of the werewolves and lycans
I would very much be interested in a video about the different groups of vampires.
Love the series. Great job on the video.
I would be interested if you ever covered stuff about the Nordic coven.
yes yes yes make that deep dive in to the Nordic Coven
can you please do a video on fright night 1, fright night 2 or the werewof movie Cursed
Amelia also had yellowish eyes. Maybe Tanis and that other woman were her progeny?
Also, Eve is more vampire than lycan (as both of her parents are part vampire)
Raze's transformation against the whip vampire was so cool..goosebumps
You should do Jack Nicholson's Wolf !!!
