I think people’s biggest problem with spider plants is usually browning tips, especially people who really want their collection to look very neat and tidy. They don’t bother me but I did the same thing you did, never really wanted to buy one but took home an orphaned baby and grew it out and I guess doing that made me like it more 😂
No tea no shade but I think a lot of “influencers” might just not know how to keep cacti/succulents happy and growing 😅 they can grow super quickly with enough light and water, but I think people are so afraid of overwatering or burning them that they only give them enough to survive, not enough to really grow noticeably. They can’t stay in tiny pots forever if you want them to grow either, which is another thing I think people forget with them more than other plants for some reason 🤷🏼‍♀️ I blame the general misinformation around growing them tbh, lol
PS I can’t stop myself from calling it a “Fiddly Fig” every time now lmao 💚

You're totally right about the cacti thing! I water mine every other week and keep them right in my West facing windows. You're not wrong about poison Ivy either 😅

I wish I could post a picture of my spider plant in here because she is MAGNIFICENT!!! And I too give babies as gifts. They’re easy to grow here in the south. And they don’t mind being moved indoors. My Bertha is about 4-5 feet long in trailing babes. I even grow spider plants in my yard. ❤

Your Spider Plant is so cute in that little pot! Spider plants are so reliable, you can’t over or under water them, they’ll meet you wherever you’re at! Lol
I think your plant is just too crowded in that little pot. Spider plants are prolific growers with vigorous root systems…that many cuttings in one small pot won’t be able to thrive.

"Hated" plant should maybe be reserved for poison ivy. I absolutely hate that plant 🤣 I do love my spider plant, I've had mine since 2005. I almost killed it in 2020, but she pulled through and has made a full recovery 💚

Perhaps plant influencers have so many plants to take care of, they cant afford the space for a spider plant and theyre so easy theyre not much if a challenge. I had them in the past and avoided acquiring any in my new increase of plants over the last year until a very close friend gave me about 5 tiny babies crom her plant. So theyre rooting in water under my plant lights and will pot them up together. Love cacti and succulents.
Thanks for this video, its different and very informative...and as usual great fun hosted by you.

I've never had any problems with my Fiddle leaf fig. It was one of the first plants I bought and I've moved it a couple times. It is probably one of the easiest plants I own 🤣. A key might be buying it more mature though. Mine was like 3 foot when I bought it and now it is about 6 foot.

My spider plant came in an 8 in basket. It got so big that the roots warped the plastic pot and pushed out of the pot. So I put it in a 12 inch floor pot where it again pushed out rather than grew its roots down. Now she’s in a 20 inch floor pot with some of her babies planted really deep and growing and putting out pups.

Your ppp is beautiful most are not so lucky. Spider plants are beautiful and fun; but quite thirsty.
I love succulents; I’m an old planty; I started w succulents because they were easy. So I have several very old and large specimens. Many of my friends used to refer to me as the cactus lady. Yes the ficus family is very temperamental; knock on wood. I may have figured out the fiddle leaf fig. I have two I’ve have for about a year……. Nice video

Three had pushed out multiple babies and I was so happy to see them. Every Spring I say I’m getting another Spider plant but so far I have not. If I find a healthy one in a 6 in pot I’ll get it for sure. I have too many large full pots as it is. 😆. Many thanks for this fun video. I enjoyed reading all the viewers comments as well! 👌🪴🥰

I never saw what people saw in the ppp but then I saw one in person & I thought wow! So last year it popped up that there was some not so perfect ppp online for a discounted price (note I never notice emails & when it popped up I jumped) a couple leaves were “damaged” but I chopped it. I gave one away & made a couple & planted the 3 together so we will see how it goes but I have a 1/2 moon that is just beautiful

Oh Jaclynn that mug is just the cutest and I love handmade things like that, my daughter when she was in college she made a lot of pottery for me and herself, I have mugs she made and pots and cute pottery with lids that I put things in. I have a Bonnie curly spider plant that I really love and she is actually doing really good. I was at Costco with my friends today and I saw a Philodendron Pink Princess, at least that was what the tag said, but there was no pink on any of the leaves so I don't know if it really was one, or they mislabeled it, but the price was only 19.99 in a 6 inch pot. I didn't have the money to get it so I might go back next week and see if it is still there and just buy it and see if it really is a Pink Princess. I had 3 Croton and they all died, they were doing great then something happened and they just lost leaves and died. I totally agree with having the right environment for your plants, some do good and some don't. Thanks again for another great video, I agree on some of the plants that are great and some that are not fun at all. I do have the buy three rule, I will buy a plant up to three times and not a fourth time if I haven't figured out how to take care of it it will be a plant I won't ever buy again. I hope that the rest of your weekend is great, say hi to David, love you both, sending lots of hugs, bye!! 😂😉🥰🤗😻💜💞💚

I like Spider plants, but they don't like me! I have some succulents and cacti, and disagree with this pick. I grew up in San Diego, CA and we had several Bird of Paradise outside. I don't want one in my house they grow to be too big, and they are toxic to cats. If I had a garden, I would have some. Also I don't know if they would grow outside in western WA. I completely disagree with ferns! Some are hard to care for, but a lot are easy for me. For example: Staghorn, Blue Star, Crocodile, Kangaroo Paw, Tiger, and Bird's nest. I own all of the above and all are thriving and beautiful. Especially my huge Kangaroo Paw fern! I do agree with their putting croton on the list.

That’s interesting that you say that, Barbara. I’m in the deep south and I was given a croton in 1985. I thought it was a houseplant and treated it as such for years until I forgot it outside one day sunning and there was a frost…… I bought two this year as well as a miniature one. As to the leaf tips, try switching your water to distilled or RO, rain water, etc. They tend to be sensitive to the salts and minerals, in my experience. Also not letting it get or stay too dry for too long
